  1. I really enjoyed this episode. It was running on all cylinders, though I agree with those who thought the Turkish plot could have arced through a few more episodes. Loved seeing the Bauer in Kirkman come out. Glad that Moss wasn't the killer, and, yeah, if I were Chuck, I'd have been all "back off with those chips, dude." I felt bad for Leo, though they've left the "I don't have a normal life" realization a little late. I still want Kimble!
  2. Indeed! I don't see why they couldn't have serving utensils for the spaghetti platter and a stack of individual plates for each person to serve him/herself. Nothing else would have to change (clue still on the platter; people still being piggy or not). I'm not a germaphobe, and not at all averse to say, sharing a dessert with a family member or friend, but this was unnecessarily gross.
  3. I really enjoyed this episode! I thought the Emily/father plot a little unnecessary, but at least he wasn't some kind of spy, just a user creep with a newfangled corkscrew. Poor Emily :-( I'm glad Seth and even Lyor were nice to her, but, yeah, I miss Aaron, too. So glad to see Moss again, and really do not want him to be a traitor or any part of any conspiracy. Finding the First Lady's Mother plot intriguing, but it is indeed a huge conflict of interest for Kendra to represent her. Also, loved Kendra's lipstick shade this episode. I also liked the plot with the foundering ship. It moved right along, and the young captain's determination to ensure that the key technology and evidence of spying didn't get into enemy hands was very touching. It was also a little refreshing that one of Kirkman's ever-persuasive speeches did not actually work, and the captain went down with the ship. I want Kimble and her statement jewelry back now!

    S08.E03: Monsters

Ye Gods, people talked and talked and talked on this episode without saying anything new or interesting (STFU, Morales, Jesus, Morgan). I miss when this show had people talking (and I don't mind an episode without action at all) and it was meaningful development for the characters and enlightening information for the audience. I don't think Morgan is any more interesting than Jesus. I mean, he's stalking away quitting AGAIN? Jesus is being silly right now, but at least he's not just flouncing off. And I always love seeing Jesus's ninja skills! Also sick of Tara, who was a tertiary character, and now I'm supposed to care? (Also don't care about Eric.) Jesus is right about one thing -- this should not be about personal revenge. It should be, however, about getting the job done, and trying to keep prisoners of war is just beyond their means. I love that Darryl is back and taking names! I'm in the minority, but I enjoy King E.'s BS and his teamwork with Carol. I'm sorry they got ambushed, but it was clearly inevitable. Just let the King, Carol, Jerry, and Shiva survive, and I'll be OK. I knew Rick would rescue the baby. Gregory is excellent as much-needed comic relief, though Maggie was a fool to let him in. Cal, whoever you are, you are awesome! ETA: Oh I really miss Michonne too!
  5. Yes! And remember when rewards used to be like a case of Mountain Dew and a couple of bags of Doritos? Or when, in Season 2, they lost their rice in a flood and that was quite literally all they had to eat? It's gotten comparatively much more luxurious these days. Survivors who made it near the end used to lose 30-40 pounds, now, often, it's less than 10. Now they're gorging themselves on pastries, and they aren't even to the merge yet. I don't necessarily want to see people starve, but they should have to work for it. It's taken a whole strategic layer out of the game -- playing the "provider" role. Now the show provides.
  6. I am so excited to see a real recap back on this site! The quality of your recappers is always outstanding (thanks, Omar) and the recaps themselves so fun to read. Hurray!
  7. Yeah, talk about a non-renewable resource (at least until they can settle down and grow plenty of grains and vegetables and then have space and labor for tobacco crops)! Though Darryl being Darryl, he'd just grow his own secret little tobacco patch. I thought it would have been much funnier (and made more sense) had Darryl rather than Tara been the Twizzler addict.
  8. I felt that too -- I kept asking (in my head because I'm only a little insane), by exactly what right, Rick? That aside, I really liked this episode! I loved King Ezekiel's Henry V reference and I thought it echoed a bit when Rick was wandering among the assembled troops ... "a little touch of Harry in the night." (And yes, I always get a little 12-year-old giggle about that.) I have to admit, I pretty much ignore the weird time shifting stuff and just watch the show as is. And it was pretty awesome watched that way -- LOVED the Dwight to Darryl intelligence system, loved seeing them all taking out the guards, and leading the zombies, loved the Plan in general. I was happy to see Carol and Darryl in action, and Morgan being less of an ass. I love Father Pee-Pants now, who has come maybe the longest way in his journey, and understand why he felt the need to help the sniveling coward. Overall, I thought it was pretty awesome and a great comeback from last season.
  9. I am so confused (as usual) by the tribal switch, though I like it. I really can't be bothered to learn new tribe names. So right now I'm "GO RED!" (love Lauren and Ben, and I hope they team up), and OK with the tribe with Ryan and Chrissy on it (though I don't like her much), and "lose, lose, lose" to the formerly Alan and Joe tribe, though with Alan gone, it might get more interesting, and I like Devon a lot. "This is not an advantage." LOL
  10. Well, I enjoyed this season of this admittedly silly show. I gather many are disappointed, but so it goes :-) Weller's crazy was quite fabulous, though I wish poor, stupid Giorgio had gotten a more dramatic death scene. Lucia getting shot by the largely useless Sasha was great. I was glad Granderson got to be useful and show her skills, and very glad Green and Miller were OK. But what happened with Master Chief's illness? I'm glad to see from above that there is to be another (final) season! I was worried this would be the last. I never watch previews, so I skipped all talk of those. I really love both Eric Dane and Adam Baldwin (ah, how I love a steely eye and a square jaw), and look forward to seeing them again soon!
  11. I am so excited that Lauren stayed, and that ass Patrick is truly gone! I have really been irritated by the age issues (as usual, affecting women) this season. Lauren is 35, and I think she's starting to look very pretty now that her hair is growing out and she's dropped a few pounds. She just needs to put a smile on that pretty face and she'll be good to go! The thing I don't get is why (while not saying that she's a fisherman by profession), she doesn't casually offer to accompany someone on a fishing expedition and do her thing in that context while maybe making a social contact. I was thrilled to see that gross smug grin wiped off of Patrick's face! One of my least favorite things is people who smile while being aggressive. I also enjoyed the time taken to show the dynamics on all three tribes, instead of just the one that would go to TC. Alan and Joe can go next.
  12. Wow, I completely forgot about the incident with the thugs and Christos. Thank you for reminding me! But now, of course, that makes everything less interesting!
  13. Hm. To me, this was an interesting episode. Fletcher -- don't care, and especially don't care about Sasha's angst. But I'm excited to have an answer about Christos. He's dead, and Vellek is keeping him "alive" by using the Nostos hallucinogen himself. Just like Slattery saw his dead son, and wanted to stay with him, but withdrew from the Nostos and (I hope!) recovered and accepted reality. I hope next week we get to see how Christos died. I suspect Vellek was inadvertently implicit in his death, and is harboring all kinds of guilt. I agree with all who think Master Chief's hiding his illness is out of character -- go to the doctor!
  14. LOL (really). The Spinal Tap reference -- so funny!
  15. I wish we saw more of Alex. I thought she was kind of interesting in the beginning of the first season, but she's really been sidelined. As to her being EVIL, hmm. Was this the first time we heard of her being Russian? He didn't just say her parents were Russian, he said she was Russian. That would certainly make things a lot more interesting, but I think we need more of her before Evil is exposed to make a real impact on the audience (including me). Until I read this thread, I had forgotten about Leo. He was interesting, too. I don't know why he's gone now. Loveable rugrat can be thoroughly sent upstairs, but Leo's old enough to contribute to the storylines.
