Couples on TV having sex in public places and no one notices! I don't mean public in the sense of the middle of the sidewalk, but I've lost count of the times they have 'encounters' in dressing rooms, public bathrooms, a curtained off hospital bed etc. and it's like they are in a little bubble of total privacy. Well unless it suits the plot for them to get ccaught of course! Which is a way more realistic consequence!

I've just been watching the episode where Marie arranges for Stefania to come to New York to visit Robert. Confusion. Are Stefania and her father staying with the elder Barones? I don't know if they ever make that clear but it seems logical to me.

Thank you! That's the one. It was really quite good and I was surprised it got cancelled. As I recall at the end one the of main protagonists was imprisoned by their enemies and I guess things were being set up to rescue him. Never happened. I wish shows like this, when they get cancelled, would at least be given a chance to tie up loose ends!

Fairly recent series for kids/teens set in Toronto (I think) the premise is that a family ends up hiding a princess (or maybe a prime minister's daughter) who is being pursued by enemies of her father. I don't think it ran longer than a year or two and I remember it ended with a cliffhanger that, since the show was cancelled, never got resolved. I've tried google but I can't seem to find anything! Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Someone spinning an off the cuff lie that is so very obviously a lie to us as viewers but is swallowed hook, line and sinker, by the people s/he is lying to - no one challenges it. No one tumbles to the raised eyebrow, the stuttering halting speech, the long pauses while the person tries to think of something to say?

I really liked that scene. You don't see this often on sitcoms but it's reality. We are the people we are today because of everything that came before us. George is the man he is, the parent he is, at least in part because of the way he was raised. It was great to see him being brought up short by someone outside the immediate family pointing out where he was going wrong. I also liked that the other coach didn't let himself be cowed by George telling him he couldn't understand because he doesn't have kids. He works with teenagers every day, he has an educated opinion, he wasn't just mouthing off in a 'bachelor's children are the best raised" way. And speaking of reality I appreciated that there was no pat solution to Paige's problem. She was still upset after her conversation with Sheldon but hopefully being able to talk it out helped. We don't have a magical moment where suddenly everything falls into place for her and she embraces her 'smartitude' again.

Buying online has caused me to buy some written in the present tense and I loathe this style of writing. I've dumped a few books because I didn't check carefully enough before I hit "add to cart". I know I'm probably missing out on a few real gems out there but I can't get past the writing style. "I walk into the room, I see a spider..." just not for me.

If you are a person above a certain age, especially if you never wore glasses before chances are someone else's reading glasses probably will work for you. At least well enough to read a menu. Not that I know this from personal experience or anything 🧐

Well I am hoping this is a faux thing! I've not seen the show but am seeing tons of commercials for Prodigal Son. Are there really that many serial killers roaming the streets? Maybe I don't want to know the answer to this one!

We've got to assume that they've all moved out of those apartments! Sheldon and Amy have at least 2 children at some point in time and when we last saw Leonard and Penny they were expecting a baby, I guess if BBT had continued they'd have pulled a Full House and figured some way to keep them all still living in those apartments together but IRL not so much! Wonder if they will ever have Sheldon reference any of the gang.

My dad didn't sit around drinking beer but he sure didn't do anything around the house and I agree this sounds a lot like the way they are portraying George. I don't have a problem with kids being expected to do chores, I do have a problem with the "we're all part of this family and that means we all do our bit" argument when it's obvious at least one senior family member isn't really buying into that! I don't care if George works outside the home or not - Mary does too - and the kids all go to school. George shouldn't get a pass on doing some stuff around the house just because his paycheque may be bigger than Mary's!

It's actually pretty refreshing - and one of BBTs strengths - that they showed that higher education was a positive thing and you would probably have a better life, or certainly a chance of a better life, if you got a degree or two. Unlike too many other shows that seem to go with the "do you want fries with that?" shctick when a character goes to university!

Also nurses aren't usually making beds anymore. If the show wants to be current they need to make sure they emphasize that nowadays there are usually very clearly defined duties that registered nurses do as opposed to practical nurses and nursing assistants (who have different titles depending on province and/or hospital).

In another voiceover - I think from last season - we're told Sheldon and Amy have a few children. For some reason I thought 3 but I have no idea why!

From earlier episodes all we really know is that Missy worked in a restaurant (blanking out on which one) but was tall, gorgeous and very confident. Fast forward and we know she is married and gives birth to a boy, fast forward a few more years and she's separated from her husband and about to have a second child. So, essentially, by her late 30s when Sheldon is about to receive a Nobel Prize, Missy has had a failed marriage, now has two children, and as far as we're told no job. The writers at BBT didn't write a particularly rosy life for Missy as opposed to Georgie who went on to be the Tire King.

I never had a problem with anyone's acting skills - it was the storylines and the melodrama that finally got me tuning out. I saw one or two later episodes with Laura married and that was one or two episodes too many.

Huzzah. Loved Reba (the show) and especially the interaction between Reba and Barbara Jean!

I always wondered if the writers were trying to see if they could get that name trending. I don't think that happened!

I had a great aunt Florence who died recently at the age of 98. I've never met anyone else with that name. I guess it's not one of the 'old lady' names that's trendy now. I always do a double take if a young character on TV has my name. It was one of the trendy baby names when I was born but by the late 60s it had pretty much dropped out of sight. I used to hear it now and then for characters who would have been born in the 70s/80s and figured from that I could tell which generation the writers were from.

If she's actually left because of a toxic work environment I hope she feels free to speak up about it. Too many people are not in her position when it comes to being able to leave jobs. No one should have to go to work with their stomach in knots because they dread being around a co-worker. ABC decision makers should be ashamed of themselves.

For me a TV breakfast is everyone up and clean and dressed and sitting down together to eat a full breakfast, leisurely, before they leave for school and work. This is not my reality by a long shot!

Based on the books they wouldn't have had to make her. Laura would never have come home without them!

Has anyone else found that the little kids in their lives don't seem as keen on many of these holiday specials? Around my house Charlie Brown the Grinch and Frosty seem to have gone over well (although they watched them once, nobody wanted to see them again) but when I've tried some of the other Christmas shows I've ended up turning them off - I was particularly surprised that the kiddies didn't seem to get into Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Of course they have no idea who Fred Astaire is so there's that, but even so....

What I liked about that episode (aside from the awesome dance and Pat's smackdown of Marie) is how many of the Barone family friends were in the audience! I loved that they had them there even if they didn't have any lines. So often on shows they'll have a special event like a wedding and the room is filled with total strangers. This is especially odd on shows like Two and A Half Men when they are always talking about how they have no friends. Until there is a social gathering of course and then there are dozens of people around!
