  1. I don't know anything about mental illness, but the cold open where Ben threw the phones into the wood chipper and beat the guy up was enough to establish that this behavior in the KC bar wasn't out of nowhere. I think the character was strictly a (unnecessary) plot device to get Ruth to split, but they at least set up sufficient internal show consistency to justify the end result that being an expert in bipolar disorder wasn't needed. Ruth all so in love for him was not internally consistent imo. In fact, I don't even know if it was necessary at all. Ruth could have sprung him out of spite for them not acting on Frank Jr and that would have been more consistent. Or her guilt for ruining Wyatt's life so she thought Wendy might be ruining Ben's life.
  2. I don't think there's any doubt about that. Even if she was thinking about a second act, Marty's crackpot scheme to launder money in the Ozarks (and they were literally dead otherwise) ripped her out of her life so now what? She's using those skills to strengthen their position with Navarro, literally proven in the finale, and legitimately getting into MO politics, with the foundation, etc. That's why I said if they both get on the same page and understand each other's skills, they'll be unstoppable.
  3. I haven't gotten around to that yet. I'm going to wait till this wraps.
  4. Is anyone watching Amy's new show? I can't find any discussion on it.
  5. I mean, it's just a throwaway comment. I can buy with the smugglers, pirates, wild west aspect of the whole thing that the sisters, or any freighter outfit would either buy a ship with a gun or retrofit it. Just about every character in all walks of the show universe carries a gun or a giant laser sword. I wasn't calling bs. Makes one wonder even though the show it set in a time of war, even in so-called peace time, there's still rampant lawlessness anyway. Plus, how much are their lives going to be changing when the death star blows up? Probably not much.
  6. It doesn't mean they can't. If Josh wanted seed money for a business, I'm sure Wolf would be happy to help.
  7. There's so many posts all over the place, but I had said somewhere that I was fine with that in the context of not needing Ben to initiating her leaving Marty. This was more than sufficient for me. Not so much that she found she wasn't untouchable, but that Marty and Wendy didn't really do enough for her in response. It's just another Jon Snow plot armor bs device to keep her alive if he doesn't at least try. Not for nothing, Wendy needs to tell Navarro that Darlene needs to go, then they can tell Frank they intervened on his behalf to make nice to bury the hatchet and to *again* make Ruth untouchable for real.
  8. Shit, I remember the guy on Silver Spoons.
  9. Marty did kill a dude because he kind of ruined his church and the guy went nuts, and Wendy ordered Ruth's dad to get whacked. They're kind of not not good. Marty already was laundering money. That's also not not so good. When he found out the partner was stealing money, he threw out the Ozarks, like it was his plan all along (also a testament to his skills that no one seems to really be respecting). It's like making the case whether the lawyers at the Firm from the book are bad because they represent the mafia. I mean, no, kind of, but still.
  10. To be fair, it happens way more in tv though. March Madness is great, but it's not like mid majors have won any titles.
  11. That's what I meant. Her telling him not to get on the plane was the breach.
  12. You'd figure she would live quietly on her 1/3 casino share profits. But someone like that can't leave well enough alone, and there's no way Helen would have let her live after the husband died when she was fully prepared to do her before.
  13. Oh, I'm glad the show is on. My tivo didn't record it for some reason.
  14. I noticed too, but they have 'real life' things happening, like the battle last week to fix points in time on the show, so I thought it was deliberate on the show's part. I'd give him a little slack for a few months because, but I would think he's got to bring up the issue. At the least, just confirm whether the child can hear the stones because that's going to inform the decisions. If he's not going back (forward), I'd like to see him take some agency and try to find gainful employment (opening a school, whatever).
  15. Depending on the narrative direction, there's no where to go but up. I root for the bad guys on tv because it's tv and not real. I want the Byrds to end up the preeminent criminal family in the state. For all of Mya's 'integrity' she called up Marty to warn him about going to visit Navarro and I cannot wait till she is working for him, whether inadvertent or willingly. Darlene represents the old guard drug empire and the Byrds are the new, so I'm hoping they deal with her next season. Now, TPTBs may be taking this show in another direction, where they finally get caught, but that doesn't strike me as nearly as interesting.
  16. I refuse to believe there is a human being with the name Joe Exotic.
  17. I wouldn't be surprised if the viagra didn't work, and you'd probably need to find a doctor to write a prescription. Also, it's a shot at his masculinity. I could roll with him on this choice. No, but Ruth could have left him in the hospital and railed on Marty to get him moved to the private facility, which he, Wendy, or Helen could have hatched a plan to get done. It's hard to suspend disbelief that they couldn't have pulled it off given what they've done. Now - I could have bought that they were in process and he still got out. But it was ridiculous that they were like, 'oh nothing we can do now.'
  18. I think he's been in tv for like 40 years, and he's maybe 50. Almost like Ron Howard. Which is a kind of weird. I think the show was fair in showing their communication problems, and how Wendy is actually pushing back after a long time to assert herself. Marty just says things flatly - we're not buying the second casino and thinks everyone else knows what he's talking about. I don't think anyone really knows how good he is at what he does, and he doesn't really go around saying anything. I think Ruth gets that part of him. Not that he should be bragging because that's going to get you killed, but if Wendy had a better grasp of his talent, she might take him more seriously than him just being bitchy. Honestly, if they get on the same page, they're unstoppable. As much as Marty doesn't like killing people he knows that Ruth's dad had to go, and Wendy knows that his skill in laundering money is providing her the flexibility to pitch the legit casino/hotel to Navarro.
  19. I'm not calling bs. Just making a jovial quip. Them singing over the credits was cute af, but wow nursery rhymes are dark.
  20. I actually disagree. There's more original content now than there's ever been. Statistically, you're going to have some show you like and some shows that suck. The real question is why something as suck ass as this is so popular - vs the tons of watchable shows out there. Not that everything is a Great Show, and it doesn't have to be, but there's plenty of cool stuff to watch than tigers fucking.
  21. Also kind of obtuse on the show's part. The hanged man got hanged and gained wisdom. I'm amazed Ian could find their house. I mean, sure, I got around before google maps, but there were actual signs posted on the road.
  22. Jocasta singing - as if I didn't like the actor enough already - swoon. You may not *need* land, Bree, but you can charge rent on it and make some serious money. It's 1772 or whatever, get some perspective. Also Jamie, Roger is working on the house. Can you not be so pissy about everything he's doing. I'm leaning toward liking the silent film device. I'll give them credit for trying a little something creative. It's a time travel show (sort of) you can do things like that. I tend to think that most tv is over-written in terms of tons of dialogue. Actors can act whether I like the characters or not. Let them do their job. So I liked the actor not talking. He was hung from a tree and only survived because his mother in law is from 1969. I didn't need anyone to tell me he's needs some therapy. I think he did a great job. I'd love some behind the scenes with him and the director how they crafted it all. Also Bree, get a fucking grip. Claire, *the war veteran*, correctly understands what ptsd is. How about not harping on Roger to actually talk? Given what he's been through it's probably good that's really it. That's great you were able to deal with your trauma (which was not your fault at all in any way) but it's Roger's fault he can't deal with it the same, so, please do yell at him more.
