  1. I have a completely different perspective as I've thought almost since the beginning that occasionally there have been teacher's pet bakers who've passed certain weeks on things other than the merit of their bakes that week. The three who come to mind first are Rob from S02, Ruby from S04 and Candice from S07. They didn't all win or even go to the final, but I think that each of them should have been eliminated before they were. Right there with you on the rest though, except for Noel and Sandi, who I like, but still don't think they hold a candle to Mel & Sue.
  2. June tuned in the radio station herself, after she started the car. When it came on it was just static and then you can hear her dialling past other stations to get to Radio Free America.
  3. Loved the Hinterland Who's Who music! Naturally it follows that my Canadian god would be the Common Loon, played by Donald Trump, because he is both common and a loon (neither in the good sense).
  4. Having watched the UK airing, I would recommend watching it, even if just for the beautiful theme music.
  5. I'll share that corner with you. I thought it dragged and nothing really happened. You'd think that after such a long mid-season break they'd have moved things forward a little more or have had something substantial happen in the first episode back.
  6. I was not as sad to see Selasi go as I should have been. Honestly, I would not have been especially sad to see any of them go, which is not normal for me at the semifinal point in the series. I don't know if it's because of the drama outside the tent, or perhaps this cast is less charismatic, or the bakes are less inspiring, or some combination of the three, but I'm just not as invested in the show this year. I really want to be loving this last series of Bake Off as we know it, but I'm not. Is it just me?
  7. I'm totally the opposite, bored by the Sheldon & Amy show, but found the Howard & Bernadette show entertaining.
  8. The move from a public broadcaster to a commercial network might make more difference than we realise. I would not like to see product placement figuring in the Bake Off, but it almost seems inevitable when there's a monetary motive. The bookmakers are saying that Jo Brand is the most likely to replace Mel and Sue. I think that would be tragic, I've tried the "Extra Slice" and for my taste she's unwatchable. The whole thing is very sad.
  9. My favourite thing about Morse, Lewis and Endeavour is the music. The closing theme from Morse and Endeavour (the one with the Morse code at the beginning) may be the best TV theme ever for my money.
  10. I hated the lighting. I feel that if the story was stronger they wouldn't need the contrived lighting scheme to emphasize the gothic feel. It actually annoyed me that it was so unrelentingly dark, even GoT isn't dark all the time! I think I will treat this one exactly like a book and wait until it's over, check in here to see how it ended, then decide whether I want to watch the rest of the eps.
  11. If you're watching Wolf Hall he plays Cardinal Wolsey, Qyburn (builder of the FrankenMountain) plays Thomas More on the same show. There really are only 12 British actors but they do get around!
