  1. Yes, in the last couple of years. This must have been some years ago. And I wonder about the relationship between Indian Health and Montana Medicaid, neither of which the Duttons would be eligible.
  2. The res, friend. But this whole plot point is ridiculous, really, unless this is happening prior to the passage of the Hyde Act. This show loves to conflate incidents from 1890, 1970, 2000...whatever.
  3. Yes, but was this during the 60s and/or 70s? This is ridiculous. Clearly, Beth is not native, and this clinic is in no way a center equipped for major surgery like a hysterectomy. White kids would not show up at an Indian Health Clinic in the first place. This is ludicrous.
  4. Once again the writers are inventing a world that does not exist. Beth is not Indian. She is not eligible for health services from the Indian Health Service Clinic, a federal agency, and, furthermore, I cannot imagine any white Montana teenagers attempting to access an abortion there. Furthermore, abortions are not financed with federal money under the Hyde Act except when the mother’s life is at stake. So forget that plot point completely, because no such services are provided on the reservation. Also, I truly wonder where this ranch is supposed to be. I thought they were supposed to be near Bozeman, where I am guessing there was a Planned Parenthood Clinic in the 90s. The show mentions the one in Billings, which is still there, but supposedly the kids would be recognized. Get real. That is ridiculous.
  5. I am pleased to see someone has done a bit of research about actual Montana law...regarding the access to fishing in the streams. He could walk down the stream but not cross posted land. Correct.
  6. Well, Kim’s story worked pretty well and was not all that far fetched to those of us who live in the mountain west. It is perfectly true that for years signs were full of bullets holes and especially in areas near reservations there are abandoned old cars...like the Esteem.
  7. Several people have mentioned that participants are fined for failing to try to make these tv marriages work. True? Or, alternatively, maybe they are paid for making it through the whole show? Do you think participants mainly participate in order to be on a national tv show? I think that was clearly the case this time with Taylor and Greg. I don’t know how to explain Brandon, who evidently could not tolerate being on camera, or Michael, who evidently thought his lies would not be exposed. And I absolutely stopped believing the casting folks were trying to find compatible couples when they matched a person who was terrified of dogs with someone who had a couple of them. They are looking for conflict, folks, because they are making a tv show.
  8. I read that Brandon filed for an annulment, not a divorce, the beginning of January. Apparently Taylor was a last minute replacement for a bride for a Brandon.
  9. We don’t know what went on off camera. Until I know the whole story, I make no judgments. Remember there was a previous hubby who had problems with production... can’t remember his name, but he and his wife did show up on one couples couch. While Brandon did lose his temper on the honeymoon show, at the blow up at the “retreat,” he seemed cool and deliberately taunting. A very controlled angry man.
  10. Yes. The entire saga of Brandon and Taylor seems to me to be a patched up version of who knows what really happened. Seems to me that whatever happened on the honeymoon between Brandon, Taylor, and the production team provoked Brandon into trying to quit the show...followed by Taylor’s desperate attempts to stay on the show sans partner. Also, it seems Mindy and Meka tried to quit too. One imagines Brandon went ballistic went he saw the security camera footage used on the show. Maybe this was what he was actually mad about on the retreat and the rest was just bogus. Explains why he carried his phone everywhere and wanted to film Taylor when she followed him into the bathroom.
  11. Sitting here trapped in my house, I have spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to figure out what is going on with Brandon and Production. Starting from the Honeymoon episode I have wondered why anyone who had agreed to appear on a reality show would get so angry, not just with the cameramen, but with his supposedly innocent “wife.” Initially I thought Brandon seemed phony, but as time has passed I have found myself sympathizing with him. Though his language makes that hard too. I suspect he has reason for his anger. The weird grin...his language and his actions are angry, but his facial expressions and gestures (is he mocking the height of the producer?) seem planned to create maximum irritation....probably why the editors have left nothing on the cutting room floor. I would love to know what they aren’t telling us. Maybe Brandon is about to write a book. Clearly, lots goes on we never learn about. For instance, we learn Mindy was picked up at the airport by a friend. Why was that? Had Zach actually quit the show in Panama? Was pressure brought to bear to get both Zach and Brandon back after the Panama debacle? Why did Mindy need or want to find her own ride? And what was Taylor doing when she followed Brandon into the closet? (Bathroom?) Interesting he insists on getting out his phone and filming her...and that he, who never showed much interest in his phone previously, is never without it in this episode. I doubt the sincerity of that “Commitment” episode. They must have paid everyone to continue in their “marriages.” I am enjoying the Couples Couch though. There do seem to be a few happy alumni.
  12. This season was definitely cast for maximum conflict. In the past we have had numerous dubious pairings, but the casting crew has excelled this season.
  13. I think these people were deliberately cast for conflict and then encouraged to misbehave. This seems especially likely to me with Taylor and Brandon. Brandon clearly underestimated the demands he would face from the production folks. He is not the first who has created a scene over production demands. Then, Taylor turns out to be a would be social media “influencer,” a fact Brandon discovered almost immediately on the honeymoon and was probably the reason he stalked off after she awakened him by taking his picture while he was waking up. There is a scene of her posting (and his commentary) while they are on a boat during the honeymoon. So it is not surprising that he went ballistic, caught in a constant swirl of camera attention. Seems as though someone deliberately matched them to insure conflict. Originally, I thought he seemed a bit phoney while I liked her, but I find myself sympathizing with him ... even just putting up with her dog’s constant trying to mount his leg would have been very annoying, especially since he is not free to discipline the dog. Then...Michael. No one checked on his actual employment? I think they knew he was lying. Meka is ambitious. Bound to cause conflict. Katie is clearly not over a previous relationship. The “experts” probably expected this to cause conflict, so her constant harping about “love” was an unexpected bonanza for them. Mr. Goodhair clearly just wanted to be cast to be on TV. They must have signed an agreement to continue on camera for some specified period of time. They cast five couples they knew would not get along because they expected one or two to walk off mid season.
  14. Sorry I have been slow to respond. In the book, we learn that the girl was being sent away to school by her single mom, and she (Jamie) and Peter planned to run away. Adam resisted that idea. The book does not really suggest, as the TV show does, that Peter and Jamie were mean to Adam...just that they were not so kind as he remembered and that they were planning to run away. The problem I have believing that they had simply run off, leaving him behind, are the scratches on his back and the blood, which we are told was either Jamie or Adam’s, because of blood type, in his shoes. But maybe the scratches are from running through the tangled brush and the blood from ? Jamie using his socks to stop bleeding or something. I do not think he was found tangled in the tree as in the tv episode.
