  1. Above all the mother is shady. Extremely shady. And I am sure that the fact that she leads a security firm will play a role down the line.
  2. Yeah, comic book logic. For the record: in real live, Pizza is not a recommended food for dogs. At best, it will be unhealthy for them, at worst outright poisonous. Btw, the dog is suspicious too....
  3. Btw, did anyone mention the "Thanos was right" graffiti? Loved where it was placed....
  4. Yeah, I know, I made a similar observation, but my list was more focussed on actual hints than, well, things which are just hints because that's how storytelling works. I mean, aside from the content of the argument in the beginning, it should be important later on, because if they had just wanted to establish the relationship between Kate and her father, they could have cut it out. I know that the most obvious candidate is rarely the right one, at least not if there are multiple options. And yes, I don't think that the security firm thing is in any way an accident.
  5. Leverage was ahead of it's time. People who have access to data are the new big evil in the world anyway.
  6. Well, and the shows have so far been fun, right?
  7. Oh, a lot of things are pointing to her. 1. The whole discussion about money in the beginning. Quite convenient for her that her husband then died which somehow solved her money problems, right? 2. Unlike her husband, she wasn't born rich - remember she said that she knows how it is not to be young anymore AND she knows how it is not be rich, while also saying to him that he has no sense for reality because he grew up in the penthouse at the beginning. Meaning she must be pretty clever to be where she is now. I really don't buy the notion that a women like her would be easily bedazzled by a guy like Jaques. 3. Pretty much every interaction with Kate is an example of manipulation. Kate makes clear that she dislikes charity events, her mother immediately goes to the "you don't care for poor people" argument. Then, when Kate is rightfully angry about her mother not telling her about the engagement, she goes all "can't you be happy for me" as if THAT is the point. She also keeps sidestepping Kate's attempts to talk to her alone. Why does she insist that Jaques has to be around all the time. And, btw, if I were a mother and heard that the apartment of my daughter burned down, I would show way more concern than what she displayed. (Plus, the whole "you planned my life for me" thing sound s true...like I said, lot of Mother Gothel vibes there). 4. Pretty much everything Armand says...it sounds less like he disapproves of her for some silly reason, and more like he feels that Jaques bite up more than he can chew by trying to get to her money. In addition, in the argument he mentions that he has "friends in high places too" - "too" implies that he is dealing with someone quite powerful there. The only reason she isn't on the official lists of suspects on the show is because Kate would never consider her, not because she isn't suspicious.
  8. Call me crazy, but I kind of digged the musical. I mean, the costumes looked soooo cheap, but the people playing it were so good, I actually forget about this pretty fast, because you could easily recognise many of the characters (minus Ant-man) by their gestures. The lyrics could be a touch move clever, but I loved the "I can do it all day" and the "Smash" moment....I was kind of disappointed that the end-credits didn't offer up a full version of the song. Also, it reminded me more of Hamilton - less because of what it looked like, but because of the content. And the one last name title. Anyway, to the actual story...I can't be the only one who get antsy the moment I read 2012....I was just waiting for the Chitauri attack from that moment forward. I really love the idea that learning fighting is basically a coping mechanism to deal with the trauma of that experience.
  9. Well, I will say something about the set-up in the discussion for the first episode, but just this much: I don't trust the mother. Frankly, I get the impression that she is the actual villain in this game, and she might be the killer, too. I also wouldn't count out the father yet - whenever there is no body, I am getting suspicious. But the mother is bad news for sure. She is incredible manipulative (gives me Mother Gothel vibes to be hones), plus, she has a security firm, and aren't people who have access to our data the modern villains?
  10. Let's put it that way: I would love a reference to the terrigen accident causing people develop powers, and I will be very sad when they come up with an alternative reason for Kamala's power BUT it is not a deal breaker for me. As long as they don't make her a mutant. I still think that the X-men are better off in their own branch of reality.
  11. ...Captain Marvel? I thought that was clear....
  12. Inhumans? There is no show with this name...and I am pretty sure that nobody would complain if Marvel takes that attitude. Otherwise, my preference would be to leave Agent Carter and AoS in Canon (and finally create a proper conclusion to the former), to do a soft reboot for the Netflix shows (if for no other reason than I am really loving the notion of Ward and Danny messing around in Asia), and quietly discard the rest (and I say that as someone who really enjoyed Cloak and Dagger). Btw, it's not just people watching AoS because of the MCU, there are a lot of people who ended up discovering the MCU due to AoS.
  13. Frankly, I don't care what Feige has to say about that. Agent Carter and AoS will always be canon in my book.
  14. I am actually not sure if the last two season of AoS take place in the 5 year jump. It's a little bit hazy.
  15. In Germany the biggest is easily the IG Metall (for Industry workers, including car manufacturing, hence not necessarily surprising), followed by ver.di (retail).
  16. I get that...but "our live is shitty, but we will stand together and fight for our rights" is a much more inspiring message than "hey, unions aren't that bad".
  17. Nah, you really need better worker songs...like, this is basically its own genre in Europe. Especially popular ones are: Auf, auf zum Kampf - YouTube (Onto the fight, Germany) Bella Ciao - ORIGINALE - YouTube (Goodbye Beauty, Italy) Arbeiter von Wien [German worker song][+English translation] - YouTube (Workers of Vienna, Austria) "Nelkenrevolution" - Portugal 1974 - "Grândola vila morena" - YouTube (Grandola, tanned City, Portugal) And my personal favourite (not because of the melody, I guess bella Ciao has that one in the bag, because of the meaning), the Hymn of Solidarity: Ernst Busch- Solidaritätslied (1931) w/ English lyrics - YouTube
  18. Never worked in a company where a union would make sense, since they were all fairly small - I am talking "small enough that the boss knew all employees personally". It's so much harder to be sh... to your workers, if you know their faces, plus, Germany has pretty extensive worker rights anyway. Those include limiting the working time per week, minimum paid vacation days plus paid holidays plus paid sick days, plus rules for the break-times, higher wages if you work on a Sunday and a general rule against calling your employer during their off-time. Most of them thanks to unions, btw. The ironic thing is, that such provisions are actually for the good of the companies too, especially in the service industry. Because people who have proper wages and free time, also have the opportunity to spend money. But since companies in the US think extremely short term... Regarding the 60 days: I could live with the sentences, if there were also a probation period attached to it. And in this case probation shouldn't mean "you are in if you storm the capital again" but "you are in if you do anything which can be read as encouraging another one" (including doing a youtube channel which spread misinformation). Honestly, with stipulations like this all those idiots would end up behind bars sooner rather than later.
  19. I am not hopeful regarding the next 10 years. I suspect that there were only woman in that segment because of the "Am I saying that right" phrase...male pundits would just push through not caring if it is right or not. Oh, yeah, the power grid....another problem is btw. that you can't store energy. Germany and other countries have worked on this problem for decades, but so far no dice....
  20. There are a few...but yeah, trickle down economy really did a number of the US and the UK.
  21. I once watched a reportage about homeless people in the US...in this case, they were sleeping in their cars in a parking lot which got closed down over night (so that they had some measure of safety there). Most of them were actually employed, they just couldn't afford a proper place to sleep on the wage they got paid. In what reality is that in any way okay????? Oh, and, btw, hostile architecture is disgusting. You aren't solving the problem by preventing homeless people to sleep or sit down, you are just moving it.
  22. I am not sure where I should start. I mean, it is pretty much impossible to end homelessness completely. In my country, people who loose their job get a lot of support from the state, including social housing (though most of the time the state simply pays the rent until people are back on their feed), and there are all kind of shelters aso, and there are still people living on the streets for various reasons. Since I am working in the inner city, I see them regularly, because when I go to work in the morning, they are still sleeping in the entries to the businesses (who will open a few hours later). But I can't say that I am in any way afraid of them. Most of them are actually very friendly if you interact with them. Though one shouldn't confuse them with the people who turn up later in the day and pretend that they need help, they usually belong to some sort of beggar mafia. Hence I don't get this "not in my backyard" view. What the hell is supposed to happen? The moment you give homeless a place to sleep and to clean up, they don't look any different anymore. And honestly, even if you had zero compassion, shouldn't you just be happy that you don't have to see them anymore? If you want to feel comfortable, isn't it way more comfortable if they DON'T sleep in the streets? If you don't read news about x-number of homeless people dying in the cold? And finally: Playing a song about all you can eat tacos to the homeless and most likely hungry is cruel on so many levels.
  23. I believe it when I see it...but it would be soooo awesome to see Bobby again.
  24. I distinctively remember some scoffing about the scene in Infinity War, too....also, I really don't think that "Carol doesn't need them" is a good argument considering that she actually fails to bring the gauntlet into the tunnel. Sure, there is a little bit convenient downgrading going on, but that is normal for all Superheroes.
  25. But Civil War did. There is a whole scene in which all arguments are laid out AND pretty much all concerns from BOTH sides come true before the movie is over. Tony is worried about the Avengers eventually being not better than the bad guys if there are no restrictions on them, and his team ends up hunting and nearly killing an innocent man. Rhodey points out that the world will turn against them if they don't follow through, and exactly that is happening. Vision points to the possible escalation and catastrophy, and that is exactly what happens. Steve asks what happens if they want to go somewhere and they are not allowed to, and Tony already breaks the accord before the movie is even over because he wouldn't be allowed to do what he feels is necessary otherwise (that he and Steve are both wrong about the true nature of the threat again proves the point that the Avengers aren't infallible). Sam is worried that they might end up in prison without any rights and look, that is exactly what happens. And Natasha fears that if they don't fight for staying together, the team will end up being torn apart which again is exactly what happens. As I said the movie is not meant to give easy answers. Because there aren't any, both sides are right. And both sides are wrong.
