  1. The View and The Talk have been compared to each from the start, they're both network shows with all female panels. And I don't see why they wouldn't have similar demographics, I doubt the shows are after drastically different audiences just because one usually airs in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
  2. The new co-hosts have done little to boost the ratings according to the Hollywood Reporter. The ratings have dipped below where they were this time last year according to the article. I wonder if ABC will be patient or if there will there be more changes next season.
  3. The fiance character is distracting, he looks ten years older than his fiancee and their friends. The show is still obnoxious. It really reminds me why I dislike most modern single-cam comedies.
  4. Cristela goes well with that Tim Allen sitcom because they're both multi-cam/live-studio audience shows and Selfie would probably be another Neighbors in terms of numbers. Black-ish is the first show to do half-way decent behind Modern Family. I imagine Selfie would do similar numbers to every other show that aired behind MF that was canceled. I actually thought Tuesday's episode was cute, but I understand why no one is watching. The humor for Selfie is very niche and narrow, but that's what happens when the writers mine Twitter slang for humor.
  5. Selfie and that show that airs after it probably won't be around long. There's no place for them (ABC shouldn't move any of their other sitcoms for them when those two are hovering around 3 million viewers/1.1 in the demo) and ABC could get better numbers with a DWTS clip or recap show. Red Band Society is already close to being under a 1.0 in the demo. It most likely won't be back after the World Series.
  6. I'm watching on AXS too so I'm a day behind. Good lord Overload were horrible. There are plenty of other cute boys in the competition who sing better and have more charisma, they were not needed.
  7. I don't know if Cheryl really has an American counterpart. She became famous by being in a group called Girls Aloud (who were formed via a singing competition show) and has been an UK tabloid fixture on and off for the past 12 years. She punched a bathroom attendant, her ex-husband publicly cheated on her, she almost died from malaria, got a giant ass tattoo and, most recently, married some guy after knowing him for only three months. ETA: How did I forget about Cheryl's disastrous short term run as a judge on the X Factor US? Cheryl and Simon didn't talk for awhile after she was fired from that show.
  8. There's nothing wrong with her name being Charmonique, plenty of women have those so-called stereotypical black names, it was that her name was set up as a punchline. It's another thing for folks to laugh at about black women imo when ones name shouldn't be a big deal.
  9. Do you think The Smiths will get in light of Morrissey's revelation that he underwent cancer treatments? N.W.A's on the ballot. I can't wait for some folks in the comments sections of newssites misinterpreting the purpose of the RnR HoF.
  10. OMG Tulisa's face. I knew she had work done but it was still shocking to see in HD.

  12. I need the previous gen MEs to show up on the current gen consoles. I want to unload my Xbox 360 and would love to see them on PS4 before ME4 comes out. I played the first two games quickly before ME3 came out and would have loved to make my decisions organically instead of looking online and seeing what everybody else did. My fault, but still. Maybe I can right some wrongs with Dragon Age: Inquisition.
  13. Cheryl debuted her new single "I Don't Care" the other day. I like it for what it is. It's a lot better than "Crazy Stupid Love" imo.
  14. I think I like how discerning Mel seems to be towards the talent she picks. She's not like Cheryl who's always thinking about how the public will perceive her.
  15. Or extend the show to two hours. I believe the African-American Lives series episodes were two hours.
  16. I didn't think the show was very good period, the fat black woman who serves no purpose except for the annoying skinny white woman to learn life lessons from didn't help. Judging by the ratings, John Cho's and girl from Doctor Who's geek fandom cred didn't help the show at all.
  17. ABC could get better ratings by putting the DWTS results show back on Tuesdays than Selfie or that other sitcom. The ratings have no where to go but down.
  18. There was a guy on today name Corey who was obviously using the show to build up his resume reel or something. It seemed like he thought he auditioning for a Tyler Perry sitcom instead of TPiR. Thankfully, he never made it out of Contestant's Row, though his last bid was, imo, purposely over-the-top stupid.
  19. I actually enjoy the third hour of Today. Yeah, Al, Natalie and Tamron can be annoying, but I'd rather listen to them banter and talk about news and pop culture than the gals on the View or the Talk. Plus it's a decent alternative to the shit local lifestyle shows that are on in my area in that time slot.
  20. I hate the laughing in and out of serious stories, too. They need to either keep things completely serious until 7:30 or 7:45 or ditch the serious stuff completely and keep GMA light hearted. With Lara Spencer, Mike Strahan and now Tim Tebow eating up more and more of the show, maybe it's time to totally turn GMA into Entertainment Tonight in the morning. I also haven't liked the hosts chemistry since Josh and Sam left. Those two could be annoying, but there's a huge hole in the show without them IMO.
  21. I don't think they said what happened to Stephen King's father. Prof. Gates revealed Mr. King's father's real last name and then jumped to talking about Mr. King's grandfather and other descendents. I thought it was weird that Gloria Reuben didn't realize she had slave ancestors. Her mom was Jamaica, how exactly did Ms. Reuben think black folk there arrived there? Oh well, maybe it didn't occur to her because slavery wasn't as big of a blot in history in Canada like it is in other countries in the Western Hemisphere. It was amazing that the show was able to find her original direct African ancestor. That brought tears to my eyes.
  22. Every character is a certain degree of asshole on AD, always has been. Just like Roger has been a sociopath, and a sometimes homicidal one, since at least midway through season one. AD is not Bob's Burgers.
  23. Law & Order UK came off as an exact copy to me, I didn't even bother with it after a couple of episodes. I don't care if US networks remake British shows. They've always done it, and I don't see why it's different now that *some* viewers are now aware of the source material thanks to the internet. TV shows aren't sacred idols that should remain untouched by icky, uncreative US producers to me. I find it weird that only UK shows are somehow untouchable. The remakes, copy-ism and ripoffs have gone both ways for decades, and, like was said before, we would see it more if UK peeps had the cash.
  24. Jenna is a sad, broken, shell of a person. She needs more help than Couples Therapy. Well, they all do, but only one person on the show looks like a living corpse.
