  1. It was delightful and a bit messy. Not unexpected, considering it's a pilot episode. I found many parts of it fun. Most of the fun as a result of Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell enjoying the scenery like a fine dining experience. Also, special shout-out to Peter Francis James' engaging delivery of all that clunky exposition as Dr. Boardman. A good strong baritone always helps. Lastly, Caspar Crump is just as horrible here as he was in those Flash/Arrow episodes. I'm sure the man is a decent actor, but he's just not Vandal Savage. Not at all. The man does not come across as menacing or dangerous. Am I really suppose to believe this guy ruled the world?
  2. That, that was really great. I can't believe Disney netted James Earl Jones to reprise his iconic role. I'm grateful they did. Truly. And if I didn't squint my eyes and read the credits, I honestly would have thought Ian McDiarmid also guest starred. But nope. Sam Witwer, man. That guy. He's a gift to fandom. Yeah. The episode. Wow. Vader was great. Felt bad for Tua, but that's the Empire for you. Can't believe Ahsoka didn't know. I really hope there's a book that explains just how she kept her down during Order 66, and why Vader would believe her to have perished. Hope the Inquisitor is someone new. Not that I didn't like the old one, but I'd like a little variety.
  3. Victor Garber will always and forever be SpyDaddy to me; I accept no substitutions. However, after tonight, I will temporarily christen him SciDaddy, and will look forward to his contributions to Legends of Tomorrow.
  4. District Attorney Vonda Mahoney is always welcome.
  5. Yes. That was American Ferrera; good seeing her again. The other two actresses were Erinn Hayes (Minka) and Adrienne Warren (Rudy). Thank the maker(s), for Last Week Tonight. I don't know how I could slog through my work week without it. It's one of only a small handful of television programs that I dutifully watch.
  6. Now that the group's near Washington, I'm still very much dreading the debut of Negan. If there was ever a time I wanted the TV show to deviate even further than the comics, it's for Negan. However, I would like to see 'A Larger World' story-line played out on screen. I'm so torn. There are some nice character beats amidst the repetitiveness of the comics. I just wish there was a way the show could get there without Negan and Lucille.
  7. Matt Nable was serviceable. I mean, he did what he could, but, no, I'm sorry it just wasn't quite working for me. I cannot UN-see this man as anyone but Jeremy Renner's eldest cousin. No. Don't bother googling it. Matt's really not Jeremy's cousin. I'm just being cheeky. Still, it's one of the things that keeps me from completely embracing him as Ra's. But I'm willing to give him another chance, so we'll see.
  8. What's survival horror, without an infinite ammo cheat/glitch?
  9. Aww, shoot, Ba'al would've been wonderful. Instead, we get Jeremy Renner's older cousin who exudes ZERO menace in his intro.
  10. Even after seeing the photos, I had completely forgotten that Adrianne Palicki was going to appear this season as Bobbi Morse, and then BOOM there she was in all her statuesque badassery.
  11. That was just flat-out amazing. I can't believe P'Li had her head 'combusted' like that. And the battle between Korra and Zaheer was masterful to watch. It's arguably stronger than the one with Aang and Ozai. That final shot of a broken Avatar Korra, tears streaming down her cheek, will just sit in my mind for months to come. It's ambiguous and striking. Were those tears of relief at Tenzin's offer to protect the world in her stead? Were they tears at seeing Jinora receive her tattoos, that the choices she made and her sacrifices weren't made in vain? Difficult to tell. P.S. Let me just say ...Yay, Jinora! Love that she got her tattoos and was named Air Master. I hope she grows her hair out like Avatar Yangchen.
  12. "Tishinkaaaaah~! Hee-hee!" Oh, man. That entire scene in the arc with Christie and Deidre was just terrible. Why did the show try so hard to make me care about a character that I couldn't give two shatko about? I kept waiting for someone to break character and start laughing at the absurdity of all of it. Kinda of like Nolan did in front of Sukar.
  13. The tension in the second half was just gripping. All that happened in eleven minutes? It felt longer than that. Tenzin was whupping Zaheer's anarchist ass, before he got ganged up on. Of course, the camera panned away, before we could see what ultimately became of him. I'm going to believe Tenzin's very, very much alive thank-you. Following up the Earth Queen's death, with the death of a beloved, major character would bring this Y7 (*snort*) show up to 'Game of Thrones' level. And I don't see the showrunners doing that. Now, would be a nice time for rurouni/wandering Toph Bei Fong to just show up (re: "Wonder how twinkletoes' kids doing?")
  14. It's Darkseid and the the planet Apokolips. This second episode is a little better than the premiere, but I still feel like I missed a half-dozen webisodes over the winter break. That, and it seems like Matt, Ben and Tom are all on three different shows; the dissonance between the three storylines is so stark.
