  1. Week twenty-one: one of five without the asterisk. I'm blaming my performance on the nasty, nasty cold that I have.
  2. Week twenty: three of five - all of the non-asterisks!
  3. Week nineteen: one. Just one and not even an asterisk. I'm blaming the cold for slowing my brain to a crawl. On Friday, I yelled "it's that guy that created the mobile in the Pittsburgh Airport!" I'm making a big pot of pasta fajioli, with cheese tortellini for the pasta. I need heat, veg, and carbs!
  4. Week eighteen: four of five. On Friday, I had no clue, so I guessed the Danube. Aren't there a lot of capitols on the Danube? No Pop Tarts! I hate Pop Tarts!!
  5. Week seventeen: four of five without the asterisk. I said Peter Rabbit, too.
  6. This American knows Davina McCall from an episode of the British radio comedy Cabin Pressure. She wasn't a guest star; she was used as an example of a "person who isn't evil but has an evil-sounding name". Imagine her name said in a dripping-with-evil, moustache-twirling voice by Roger Allam, the original Inspector Javert from Les Miserables in the West End of London. Maybe you just had to be there....
  7. Week fifteen: three of five, no asterisks. I think my original response got eaten by the update. Week sixteen: three of five. I seem to be in a rut. I've been under the weather for a week or more, but today I had enough energy to make what my family calls Chinese penicillin - egg drop soup with loads of onion, garlic, and ginger, with mini-wontons. I'm feeling better already! I'll bring a batch when I'm no longer hacking and coughing up a lung.
  8. Week fourteen: two of five with no asterisks. I'll bet the original message got eaten by the update.
  9. Week fifteen: three of five with no asterisk. I'll bring hash brown casserole; I'm feeling rather funereal with the loss of Saber.
  10. Week twelve: four of five, with one asterisk. I missed Oxford, even though I've been there twice! Week thirteen: five of five! I've been out of pocket, what with celebrating Mom's 100th birthday a few weeks ago. We had a wonderful time with the whole family, down to the great-grandchildren. I'd offer some birthday cake, but we didn't have one. Mom likes strawberry shortcake or lemon meringue pie for her birthdays; this year was strawberry shortcake!
  11. Week eleven: three of five without the asterisk. I can't believe that I didn't get Old Blue Eyes! I am excessively fond of root beer floats made with chocolate ice cream. In my neck of the woods, that's called a Black Cow!
  12. Week 10: two of five, without a single asterisk! Since someone else is already bringing the Peter Pan, I'll make my favorite fudge, with the recipe that used to be printed on the Hershey's Cocoa tin. But at the end, when you are supposed to beat in a stick of butter, I substitute an overloaded tablespoonful of crunchy peanut butter. I promise to use Peter Pan this time, in place of my customary Jif!
  13. I am so happy that I'm at the table for two this week. Yum!
  14. Week nine: two of five, with the asterisk that @secnarf correctly pointed out. I got Jim and Joanie, and totally blew that two-week stretch of perfect weeks. Well, pooh.
  15. Week eight: five of five with two asterisks!!! Two perfect weeks in a row! I need to retire. Right. Now.
  16. I really liked Dave's hair, but his tie clashed horribly!
  17. Week seven: five of five! With the asterisk!! I have a dear friend who lives about 50 miles away. We trade texts with our Final Jeopardy guesses every evening (no requirement to phrase it in the form of a question). I was so busy taunting Tim for missing Dylan that I didn't notice I had a perfect week. I'm thinking I want something French, in honor of our first diplomat. Perhaps some French onion soup, with a crusty baguette?
  18. Week six: three of five. My Einstein-Mahal became a Hawking Palace. I'm hungry for Indian food. I want chicken tikka masala and garlic naan from The Sitar of India in Charleston, West Virginia!
  19. Week five: one of five with one of the asterisks. I've been to Monaco and seen the graves of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier, so Friday was a piece of cake. The rest of the week, not so much. For the rest of the table for one, I'll bring Western Pennsylvania's best chocolate-covered pretzels from Sarris Candies. Yum! (They have peanut butter covered pretzels, too!)
  20. If you look carefully at the cast list, it says "Owen Kalagian as Josh Blacker", as well as "Josh Blacker as Owen Kalagian". I did a little digging on IMDB, and Josh Blacker is an actor, so I guess that Owen Kalagian is the character Josh is playing. It must be a typo to have the character playing the actor!
  21. Week four: four of five, without the asterisk! Happy Thanksgiving to our Northern Neighbors. I'll bring some salad fixings for our apparently Italian meal.
  22. Week three: four of five, with the asterisk! I did great this week until I got fleeced.
  23. Week two: three of five. Darn you, Sue Hemingway!
