  1. I fell asleep less than 30 minutes in to both last week's fashion mystery and Tyler's movie last night. I finally finished the mystery, but is it worth finishing Shifting Gears? Tyler is one of my favorite Hallmark leading men, but I feel like Hallmark has struggled with who to pair him with. Lately, they seem to be putting him with the younger female leads that they are trying to establish, and these movies are falling flat for me.
  2. They aired Trading Christmas and I missed it? I'm so bummed. If you all see it scheduled again, can you post about it here? That's my all-time favorite Hallmark Christmas movie. It's on a different level compared to present day Hallmark movies.
  3. I almost want to check out Never Been Chris'd just to see how bad it is for myself. Promos did not appeal to me, even though Tyler is one of my favorites. I'll definitely listen to the Deck the Hallmark recap of this one. So far this year's Christmas movies have been effective sleep aids. Most of the movies I'm looking forward to will air during Thanksgiving week or after.
  4. I too would like to know where this show is supposed to be set. It almost seems to be set in the western US now but somehow still has Mounties. And how is the capital city 22 hours away by train? If the show had not been renewed for season 11, this season would have ended with Lucas and Elizabeth getting married. This flip flop was just to extend the longevity of the show. I don't think the Nathan/Elizabeth fans should get too comfortable. They may keep her changing her mind indefinitely. I don't think Lori Loughlin will come back. I think Hallmark is done with her. Henry was the best part of the season, and Abigail would suck the life right out of him. Pair him with Fiona, I dare you WCTH writers. (Only if the show insists on pairing everyone up; it's also okay to be single and fine with that status).
  5. I feel the same way. The newer actors aren't clicking for me either. But three of my favorites were in movies recently (Polaha, Sustad, and Hynes), and I didn't last more than 30 minutes with those movies either, so for me it's a combination of factors. I wish Hallmark would focus on quality over quantity.
  6. I gave Polaha's movie 30 minutes and it didn't hold my interest. Couldn't get past the age difference and his hair. I will try Paul Campbell's mystery tonight, but the previews look ridiculous. 2023 has not been a good year for Hallmark movies so far.
  7. Maybe it's wedding veil fatigue, but I kind of enjoyed the glacier movie. It had some weird, dropped threads though. The sister took a negative pregnancy test near the end of the movie, but she never told anyone, did she? The female lead didn't spend any time with her sister after that. The redhead massage therapist also mentioned something she needed to share at the dance but then wasn't seen again. I can't pinpoint anything specific that I liked about this movie, other than relief that it wasn't another wedding veil movie.
  8. Haul out the Holly was really enjoyable. It flew by, while some of these movies are such a slog to get through. I liked this one more than Three Wise Men and a Baby. I think my expectations were a little too high for Three Wise Men. I would love to see Melissa Peterman in more Hallmark movies. She and Stephen Tobolowsky were fun to watch. The cameos were also great. I hope Hallmark eventually feels comfortable with leaving out the leads-must-fall-in-love storyline in the occasional movie. This movie and Three Wise Men would have been good without any kind of romantic love story. I enjoyed Wes and Lacey together, but the movie also would have been fine without a kiss at the end.
  9. @bankerchick, Hallmark will lose me too if these movies all start skewing younger. The older I get, the less I can relate to the 20-somethings. If the leads are under 35, I don't even bother. So I skipped Autumn in the City. I did like Mid-Love Crisis since it featured older leads. I wish it would have focused more on Teri Hatcher and James Tupper. They had great chemistry, but too much time was spent on the daughter's proposal plan and the ex-husband. This movie didn't need the ex-husband complication at all. I also don't understand how Three Wise Men and a Baby isn't at the top of everyone's list for this year's crop of Christmas movies. I too watch these movies for the men, but I don't think I realized just how much the female lead seems to drive most people's interest in these movies.
  10. I wasn't a fan of Dating the Delaneys. It really wasn't a multi-generational story. So much of the focus was on Rachel Boston's character. She was a little too bubbly for me here. And the corny jokes were relentless. I appreciate Hallmark trying to bring more humor in these movies, but the bad puns got annoying after awhile. I don't understand why Hallmark doesn't pair up Paul Campbell and Kimberley Sustad at least once a year. There is at least one Cindy Busby/Chris Russell movie every year, so the network isn't opposed to pairing the same people often. Paul Campbell works better for me in movies where he can be snarky, and this wasn't the right vehicle for that.
  11. This episode was even more boring than usual. I don't understand nor do I care to understand the Walden, Bill, Lucas, Fiona, Henry story. Nathan twirling the gun at the end was hilarious to me. I think this show forgets that it takes place in Canada, except for the mountie aspect.
  12. I'm disappointed in Jill. I don't expect to see her again on Hallmark in anything. She is either lying or extremely obtuse if she doesn't get that her involvement and promotion of GAC burned bridges with Hallmark. It sucks because I'll miss Mystery 101. Jill and Kris had great chemistry. But this whole situation has turned me off to Jill. Hard to explain but her IG post didn't set well with me, and your post makes me think I was right.
  13. Just One Kiss was an unexpected surprise. It's by far my favorite of the 2022 Hallmark movies and something I would actually watch again. I wasn't familiar with the male lead prior to this, but I really enjoyed his singing. I knew of Krysta Rodriguez so I'm glad they found a way for her to sing too. The leads had chemistry, the movie didn't involve party planning, and the misunderstanding didn't last all that long. I thought something was off about the moms from the beginning, but I didn't know for sure until the end. I wish more of the Hallmark movies were as enjoyable as this one.
  14. I didn't notice Kevin's strange attempt at a Boston accent until over halfway through the movie because I was so annoyed by how long the misunderstanding was lasting. Then once the misunderstanding was solved, I noticed the accent and was distracted by that the rest of the movie. The accent came and went. Some sentences he used no accent, and then he overdid it the next sentence. Very odd. Their wedding was comically short. At least cut away a couple times to make it look like you're just skipping over parts. I appreciate Hallmark trying something new with a trilogy of movies and featuring (albeit briefly) more than one of their stars in the same movie. But at the end of the day, this was another party planning movie with a more frustrating than usual misunderstanding. Bankerchick, I would watch your Paul Campbell/Kimberely Sustad amnesia movie. I hope we get a new movie from them this year.
  15. I was disappointed with an Unexpected Christmas. The family constantly talking over each other drove me nuts during the first half of the movie. Then I got bored during the second half. I did enjoy clean shaven Tyler Hynes though. Maybe I'm just not in the mood for these movies this year.
  16. The best parts of Nine Kittens were the kittens themselves and the Paul Campbell cameo. I agree that Paul & Kimberley had more chemistry in that brief scene than Brandon & Kimberley. I sure hope we get a movie with both of them in 2022. I've only watched a few of this year's crop of Christmas movies. Other than Crashing through the Snow, there hasn't been one that I plan to re-watch.
  17. Tyler Hynes has quickly become one of my favorite Hallmark leading men. He was his usual charismatic self in Roadhouse Romance, but overall it was a forgettable movie like pretty much every other movie from Hallmark this year. Crashing through the Snow is the only movie so far this year that I would watch again. I have slightly higher hopes for Tyler's Christmas movie since Paul Campbell wrote it. I don't understand why Paul isn't starring in the one he wrote. Instead he's in one with Tamera Mowry-Housley. I guess Hallmark feels like they have to try out different pairings, but I would be happy with a Paul Campbell/Kimberley Sustad Christmas movie every year.
  18. I never felt like Trace and his music fit with this show, so I'm not sad to his character leave. I assume they will put Abby with Robert Buckley instead of the charming teacher, which is a real shame. Jess continues to be one of the most annoying characters I have ever seen on a TV show. I do like how this show doesn't try to shoehorn every character into each episode, unlike When Calls the Heart.
  19. I agree with your two main issues. They really couldn't get any of the actors who played Mick and Olivia's daughters, Duke, or Mick's sister? I really enjoyed the first Wedding March movie because the focus was on Mick and Olivia. Then they faded more and more into the background with each subsequent movie. I watched each movie, but I couldn't tell you anything about 2-5. They didn't need another couple in this one. The focus should have been on Mick and Olivia since it was the last one. I don't think Autumn misunderstood Olivia's advice. It wasn't good advice. Also, Autumn and her fiancé had not settled on where they were going to live? I feel like that's a major issue to discuss before the wedding day.
  20. A few comments on the new Mystery 101. I was glad they quickly addressed the lack of age difference between Amy and her uncle. I was side-eyeing the casting of Peter Benson for that role until they explained. I laughed out loud at Amy swimming back to the inn. That was a long haul back to the inn in presumably cold water. Speaking of the inn or Kent Lake House or whatever it was called, does Hallmark use that location often? I feel like I've seen that place in at least 2 other movies. Overall, I liked it. I really enjoy Jill and Kristoffer together. I hope the twist at the end is some kind of undercover operation because I don't want them to be apart and angsty for the next few movies. It may be a long wait, though, between Jill's new baby and their other projects.
  21. I Want to Marry Ryan Banks is one of my all time favorite TV movies (along with Lucky 7). Since the plot of Love, For Real sounded so similar, I decided not to watch. I didn't think it could measure up. TV movies used to be much higher quality. I don't understand why it is so difficult to get back to that level. Maybe it's because Hallmark & Lifetime emphasize quantity over quality.
  22. Pascale Hutton & Kavan Smith are one of my favorite Hallmark pairings, but You Had Me At Aloha was a letdown. Pascale's character was extremely unlikeable in the early part of the movie (which has been a common theme with the female leads in this year's movies), and that took me out of it. The scenery was nice though. But overall, I preferred the Perfect Bride movies over this one. A couple people mentioned above that they haven't loved a Hallmark movie since Wedding Every Weekend. I agree. I hope we get something with Paul & Kimberley this year, but I haven't heard of anything.
  23. I saw Christmas in July is for the entire month of July. Didn't this used to be a one or two week event? At least there is one new movie sprinkled in. Since it's a month-long event, I hope they include older movies like Trading Christmas that got banished to the app this past holiday season. I really wish Hallmark would make a few Halloween or Thanksgiving movies instead of all Christmas from late October through New Year's.
  24. I was pleasantly surprised by Sonja in this episode. She didn't get drunk at LuAnn's and didn't sexually harass the model. I hate to say this, but I would rather have Dorinda over Leah. Dorinda was at least entertaining and provided us with the crazy Berkshires episodes. I continue to enjoy the shade thrown by the producers like noting that Eboni and Leah only arrived 12 minutes later than Ramona.
  25. I came here to say the exact same thing. I still like Amelia and Link, but mostly I still watch this show out of habit. I can't decide which is worse the later years of ER or the later years of Grey's.
