  1. Good episode. I liked the Nancy storyline and her interactions with Sr Frances, her understanding feeling about a teen mom growing up in care being delighted with home of her own even if it wasn't best home. And her later talk with Hilda, frustration that she hasn't had the opportunity to raise her daughter and having work get in way of one of their special days. It was nice to see her get really enthusiastic about the conference. The father to be headaches was sure to spell disaster though I didn't expect it on this scale. I feel Dr Turner will be fine, Sr Julianne I'm not so sure of, I also wonder if there will be twist that Nurse Crane was on train coming back early from holidays and she will be the one to die.
  2. It's good to see Lucille get some interesting storylines. I was surprised when I checked that she's been around since season 7 because she hasn't had much memorable stories. This season she got her wedding and the whole miscarriage storyline was well handled and well acted.
  3. It was nice to see some of Fanny's background in the episode (I think tat just leaves Robin and Mary who haven't had flashback yet) It wasn't very laugh out loud episode but very nice Christmas spirit. I loved Captain and Julian going to tell Kitty about Santa then changing their minds and keeping up the fantasy.
  4. Well Alberta said she had to drag suitcase from hotel, as she wasn't allowed to stay in house, so it's possible someone slipped the poison in the bottle at her hotel so the other ghosts didn't see what happened and assumed heart attack.
  5. Agree with the other comments too much personal drama and too much cop/detective stuff. It's not why I tune into this show. While I don't mind giving characters or side characters more personal drama to deal with, in previous seasons, they spread it out better. Here we had Taylor reporting and hints of tragic past, Chim's search for Matty, Hen and ex drama, Athena's whole family drama, and just 1 rescue that was then focused on as a whole detective case. It reminds a bit of that old show Third Watch that I used to like when it was about EMTs Firefighters and Police, and slowly they got rid of firefighter and most EMT and became another cop show. I just want to see some fun rescues and 1 maybe 2 characters per episode deal with personal stuff.
  6. My thoughts on the last few episodes: Mary Anne and the Great Romance - MA and Richard have a great relationship loved the note-cards and the awkward double date. I liked that MA was annoyed with her friends for just assuming she'd be with her boyfriend instead of walking with them. I was glad MA and Logan decided not to be serious at the end of the episode. Dawn's Wicked Stepsister - I love the Schafer/Spier dynamic, so this was one of my favourite episodes. MA and Sharon bonding was nice also understandable that Dawn got jealous, particularly as it seemed they were ganging up on her with a few comments, coupled with the other annoyances no wonder she blew up. But good on MA for also calling her out on bottling things up. Richard and Dawn having a little bonding moment was also nice. It's good Richard and Sharon aren't rushing things but I wouldn't mind seeing them all leaving in the same house in future episodes (though doubt we'll get that far). It's nice Mal got subplot of being uncomfortable being charity-case, gave her a bit more to do then just play the over-entusastic member, even though it didn't get much time to delve into it with 1/2 hour episode. Claudia and the Sad Goodbye - Yep I teared up for this episode, really well done, Claudia actress did such a good job, also her avoiding emotions paired up with emotional Mary Anne (who was close to Mimi) to finally break through was well done. I liked that it was traditional funeral arrangements and the funny stories they told while Claudia made special tea was nice. Kristy and the Baby Parade - Loved they kept the disaster float with Mal's terrible clashing outfits. Knew Patrick was going to let them down, glad Watson and MA called him out, though I did think Watson maybe talked too long without any of the kids speaking up. Felt particularly bad for David Michael who still wanted to send photo album. It's very sweet tat Watson wants to adopt them all, nice end to the season.
  7. I enjoyed this season, particularly the later episodes, it would nice if they get 1 more season. Obviously compared to last season, the episode titles in most cases were a lot looser adaptation, but also noticed they seemed to be taking influence from the series as a whole. Such as Mary Anne setting up the alarm at Dawn's house is like her bugler alarms from "Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls" Mary Anne and Logan's relationship seemed to take things from "Logan Likes Mary Anne" and "Mary Anne vs Logan" (MA missing friends due to relationship) and Mallory not wanting to be charity case comes from"Poor Mallory". Interesting that they wanted to "Little Miss Stoneybrook and Dawn" I wonder what other plans were changed because of Covid. We did get 2 less episodes than last season, and in 1st episode I thought they were building up some Kristy/Jessi conflict that didn't go anywhere. Thoughts on the first few episodes: Kristy and the Snobs - The Louie stuff was sad, glad it happened off screen, Kristy struggling to fit in and Liz also having issues with Delaneys was good. Shannon as resue pup was good. No teen Shannon, and awkward more than snobby Amanda was missed, feel it didn't give Kristy as much conflict as the book. Claudia and the New Girl - totally different from the book, would have been nice to see Ashley bond more with Claudia overall though I'm fine with the changes with Ashley as a minor character, but I kind of wish they just made this a "Hello, Mallory" episode instead, it was interesting to see how Claudia felt about Mal's over-enthusiasm, but as it was Mal focused it would have been nice just to have her narrate an episode Stacey's Emergency - I liked Stacey as the overachiever, I was expecting her to collapse on stage so the "emergency" was a bit underwhelming (more knowledgeable people than me have already commented the inaccurate diabetes levels). Also as they brought up the McGill's arguing in later episodes, seems like missed opportunity for conflict here (blaming each other for Stacey's lapse) Jessi and the Superbrat - this is the point where the season really picked up for me. I liked Jessi and her conflict of no longer enjoying ballet because she wasn't the best. Derek no longer a film star but personality wise seemed accurate and like him and Jessi bonding. Jessi's family were also great loved the back and forth with her mum. Also the pair up of Jessi and Mary Anne was unusual but fun. Kristy standing up for Jessi as her "manager" very funny how business like she is. I'll post thoughts on the other episodes soon.
  8. 2 weeks to go! I am so excited! I'm even so much of BSC geek that I started a blog last summer doing a 3 way comparison of the original books, the graphic novels and netflix series. (https://bscbooksgraphixtv.blogspot.com/) I'm interested to where this season goes as in the original series once Mal and Jessi join, timeloop starts so I imagine we'll actually get parts from different books across the episodes
  9. After the last few darker episodes, this was nice change of pace, a lot of fun.
  10. Interesting book choices some unexpected ones in there. “Kristy and the Snobs” and “Claudia and the New Girl" make sense as next in continuity and the early books are the best books. "Stacey’s Emergency” seems they are not doing Stacey moving back to New York then back to Stoneybrook, so that means they had to skip over a couple of books (I wonder if her parents will get divorced if there's a season 3) “Jessi and the Superbrat” I would have thought Jessi's Secret Language would be good to adapt but this is fine too. “Mary Anne and the Great Romance” and “Dawn and the Wicked Stepsister” surprised there's another wedding this season but I suppose it will be more Mary Anne and Dawn adjusting to being sisters. “Claudia and the Sad Goodbye” this will be devastating but a good book to adapt. “Kristy and the Baby Parade” - another surprising choice, I'm guessing that it will start with Watson-Brewers adopting Emily Michelle (as she was adopted in Kristy's Mother Day Surprise) @LadyChatts I don't know if you've read the graphic novels, they stick closely to the books but have made some changes like Mal joins in book 5 "Dawn and the Impossible 3" it's fun to see how they adjusted for that. It is disappointing Mallory doesn't get an episode, Hello Mallory wouldn't make sense any more but I was thinking "Poor, Mallory" or "Mallory on Strike" would be contenders.
  11. If the sitcom parts are a more idealised verson of events, I can imagine in reality Kevin is abusive to her, probably emotionally and controlling more than physically. We've already got hints of this from Alison's conversation with other people, that he's been breaking down her confidence, isolating her and controlling aspects of her life. Such as convincing her she is bad at money so he handles the finances, telling her she is a bad driver so he drives their car the most, which also limits her ability the travel. Only his friend group being around. Her comment to librarian that if she left "he'd find her" all points to abusive relationship to me.
  12. Nia was so adorable and her asking to play with Denny and her "see you later" was heartbreaking, glad she has happy ending with her mom. Hen did annoy me when she nixed the idea of fostering straight after goodbye, while Karen who was also upset about saying bye,was acknowledging it was tough but open to discussion. Chim/Maddie baby situation just reminds me how crap maternity leave is in the US! They were cute doing their swap overs though
  13. Thanks very much tomorrowgirl, I was sure that I associated with some other dramatic show.
  14. Agree this was strong episode with the 2 best characters. I do find it funny that returning episodes for this and regular 9-1-1 had a drunk driver nearly killing a beloved family member (Grace/Albert), a character dealing with death of someone they were partially responsible for (Judd/Bobby) and pregnancy (Tommy & Grace/ Maddie) in both stories!
  15. On the pregnancy, I'm glad their was no drama other than them having to wait so long. Would have thought they would tried medical induction rather than the home remedies. I was overdue with my child and they induced me, which then failed and I ended up having c-section, which was fine I opted to do that over their suggestion of trying to induce again! I'd no strong feelings for Albert prior to this episode, but the tears started coming when I thought he was going to die! I'm glad he didn't especially for Chim, because I only want happy things to happen for him, i also felt for Buck when he was calling out for Albert and him having to tell Chim. What was the song playing during birth/Albert scene? I feel it's been other shows for dramatic death scene before, which made me think Albert was a goner!

    S04.E06: Jinx

It was fun hijinks episode. Though the one thing in the montage that made me squemish was the guy getting his phone under the cinema recliner. I remember when that happened here in UK, the guy did not survive it and after they added a warning before start of films, that if you drop your phone down seat to fetch a staff member. These actors have gelled so well together, really do feel the family vibes. I liked callback to fire marshal Buck and his clipboard, I'm all for Buck 3.0.
  17. That was my first book too. I remember my uncle got it as Christmas present along with 2 specials BSC Summer Holiday and Winter Holiday. My last regular series book was also a Dawn book, Farewell Dawn when she left for California for good. Also I loved the mystery books, though oddly enough the publication in Ireland was all off (or maybe it was my local bookshop stock) so the mysteries came out ahead of the regular series, so even though Dawn leaving was the last book I read, I already had books in the mystery series where Abby had already replaced her.
  18. While they didn't go into details, they did set up why it would still be done this way in modern times. Such as 12 year old girls not being able to set up all social media things (unlike the babysitters agency) and also the idea coming from Elizabeth, it could appeal to older generation that grew up in the 90s and were fine with just ringing for something, you see her not going for the internet first thing. Also yes it is a small neighborhood so I think it works. They are super young to be loking aftr small children but some suspension of belief is allowed! I've now finished the last 4 episodes so some other thoughts Janine was a bit much I thought, but accurate to her book counterpart, liked her and Claudia's talk about internment camps and Mimi. The whole Mimi's stroke handled so well. Claudia not being able to go into intensive care and knowing any other situation the person who would have stayed with her would be Mimi, and when she couldn't understand her afterwards was all very sad. Boy Crazy Stacy was fine, probably not the strongest. But I like Mary Anne realising Stacy was also a dork Kristy's Big Day may have been my favourite episode (though it's very close to call!). I was expecting Elizabeth to have it out with Watson more about his undermining her parental guidelines, but her and and Kristy's fight was well done. Also Kristy getting her period and her being a bit "behind" the others seemed very keeping with the books, even if periods were never mentioned there "feminine products, do the expect us to being makeup" Everything with Richard was gold! "Do you want a drink...of course not" . He's been brilliant all series. Welcome to Camp Moosehead felt very much like a summer special with everyone getting their own subplots. Mrs Meanie's reactions were hilarious as an non-enthused adult dealing with these kids. Assume they didn't want to keep it as Camp Mohawk and have the awkward Native American appropriation. Interesting bringing Laine into it this way, and even with a lot of plot changed poor Stacey couldn't escape the poison ivy! I liked natural way Mallory and Jessi were brought int the club too.
  19. Loving this, 6 episodes in. It's great that they've got the essence of each book without including everything. All the main characters are absolutely perfect, and like others say they've mixed the modern and classic smoothly. Like Stacey's embarrassment of a diabetic episode now has more layers with it being put on internet, or Elizabeth Brewer having to get over paywall to get on babysitting website, before Kristy's great idea. Some favourite parts: Each girl getting to narrate there own episode and the writing/credits changing to match them. Kristy saying a boy would never have been made to right an essay about decorum Stacey's blue sparkly monitor that she shows off after her diabetes has been revealed Richard looking at photo of Mary Anne's mother decorating her room Dawn's mother sticking up for her daughter with Mrs Barrett (also they made Mr Barrett more reasonable in his taking of Buddy!) Mary Anne correcting the doctors about Bailey. Claudia's outfits, loved her halloween costume and her Ruth Bader Ginsberg look for her maths test. Have restrained from binging in 1 day but won't last the whole weekend!
  20. While my first thought was that possibly Bronson is ancestor of Maria, I then thought of the new potential alien Kyle met last episode, maybe she's the distant relative.
  21. I think it should also be considered that what happened is speculation and also told by unreliable narrators. Even if we were to take what Trey said at face value, and going by the other events I see Eric being too high to comprehend whats going on, then maybe being convinced of his version of events and blocking out his involvement. The reason why he's so convinced of Chris doing it, is his father put the suggestion to him while he was suffering from withdrawal, it probably stuck in his head. What order did people watch things in? I mostly stuck with episode order except with 2005 (Melanie) episode I left until 2nd last.
  22. The last 4 episodes have been very solid. I wondered if Randall and Kevin's falling out is going to be over Kevin wanting to build the house and part of Randall's issues to control everything! That small bit of soft egg seemed unlikely to cause a choking incident, but maybe I'm just lucky that my daughter never had such issues with her food! (I still cut up grapes for her, she's 3 and always remember nurse saying that's the most common and dangerous choking food)
  23. Agreed, this was best episode of the season. It's been a while since the nuns were focus of an episode, so it was nice to see all 4 having something to do, particularly nice that Sr Hilda and Sr Frances got more to do they still feel quite new so nice to have them developed more. Sister Monica and her quest to see Sound of Music was fun, but also nice to see at the start to see her in her more sisterly duties at the last rites of the old woman. It's always great to have a story line with Sister Julianne as Jenny Agutter does a superb job as always. Her at cinema reminded me of the episode where she met her old love interest and they watched movie at his house.
  24. Anyone else thinking there will be a problem with Mei's adoption? It seemed to linger on the papers being put aside on the shelf, I wondered if they'll not file it in time or something, or I could be reading far too much into it! I do think we'll see at least one of the doctor's back at some stage. I'd be happy to see both McNulty and Walther return.
  25. I agree with other that characters this season seem to be inconsistent but I did enjoy this episode, probably one of my favorites this season and I think the reason for that is it was much more of an ensemble episode. We got time with the Queen and PM and the coal miner strike, Prince Edwards funeral briefly, Camilla and Charles with Mountbatton and Queen Mother's scheming and of course Ann being brilliant and witty. I've found too many episodes focused on just one character this season and honestly those "poor rich me, no one understands me" episodes get rather annoying (Phillip, Lord Mountbatton, Prince Edward and Margaret in particular, the Charles episode was okay) I don't expect historical accuracy from this show, so I expect liberties, but I would like to see the cast interact with each other and the world more, I felt this episode had a better balance of that.
