  1. I mean, he is famous. Famously bad, but....
  2. Not calling out this comment specifically, but I've seen this sentiment a few times. I know why everyone hates Houston, and I could not agree more, but what's wrong with the Rangers? I don't really pay any attention to the AL, but I'm softly hoping for them to win, for Jordan Montgomery. Should I not be? I'm Team Anyone But the Trashstros or the Cobb County Crackers.
  3. Classy statement from Votto, and he's right. It was absolutely nuts considering the circumstances to even argue it. That said, some situational awareness from the umpire would have been nice.
  4. Joey Votto just got ejected from what was probably his last game as a Red. WTF?
  5. There's a loud contingent in St Louis that wants Oli Marmol gone, but we'll see. The FO has been strongly supportive in the press, but they ended 2021 planning to extend Mike Shildt, and then fired him instead. 🤷‍♀️
  6. More detail, from the reporter who originally broke the story. Sounds like a whole lotta drama! Ohtani was in the clubhouse before Friday’s game, but there was no word on where he had gone afterward. Also, seeing another report (not linking, because I don't know the quality of the source) that he has already been spotted in the Tokyo airport.
  7. Thank you! You're so kind. It's the one potential bright spot left in our season. NGL, I was in full playoff mode watching the game. Curled up on the couch, hands clasped under my chin, eyes squeezed shut every time the O's were up. It was the most stressed and then thrilled I've ever been about a regular season game. Marmol managed the bullpen like it was Game 7. The whole organization wants it for him so badly.
  8. I fucking love this man. That is all.
  9. Pretty sure they just removed his stuff, not that they ripped out the locker and left a big hole for Kolten. 😉
  10. Even so, such a huge rule change should be noted. The guys doing it today were apparently unable to do it with the rules of a decade ago, so they shouldn't get the same accolades of guys who did it a decade ago. YMMV
  11. Yeah, any individual records for stolen bases should have an invisible asterisk by them from now on. I don't mind the bigger bases, but the limited pick-offs rule swung the pendulum WAY too far in favor of the runner.
  12. The Reds - now with Harrison Bader - are coming to St. Louis next weekend. Cardinals fans are pretty excited. Everyone here loves Bader and hates the Yankees, so.... :D After that we head to Baltimore, but I read that it looks like Jack Flaherty won't be starting those three games, just because of where they are in the rotation. I'm glad. Not sure I'm ready to see Jack pitch against us. :'-(
  13. The player I saw do the "touch Ohtani" thing was Elly de la Cruz. I thought it was a joke, like "let me touch you to make sure you're real, and not just magic". 😆
  14. The Kid had an actual personality, though...
  15. Same here. I watch the Cardinals, the teams who play the Cardinals, and the post-season. For the past several seasons, every time the Cards played the Angels it was all about Albert. As for the Angels making the post-season... welp. I really grew to love Shohei during the WBC. He just seems like such a kind, generous, decent person, on top of being a unicorn ballplayer. I was really hoping he'd land with a top tier organization this offseason so he'd at least get a shot at being on a winning team, and also so more people would get the chance to see who he is as a person and a player. Hopefully he still gets the opportunity to pitch, since I know how important that is to him. Mike Trout remains a non-entity to me. 🤷‍♀️
  16. Jeez, this couldn't be WORSE timing for him, heading into FA. That sucks. :(
  17. @cleo I'm hearing Bichette is inflammation (day-to-day), so hopefully that's good news for y'all.
  18. Jays fans, please look after our boys, especially Pauly D. He may not have lived up to his big contract, but he has an even bigger heart. So many Cardinals going to Toronto, I guess I know who to root for the rest of the season! (Barring Jack being traded to a team I don't hate.)
  19. Had the lead after 5, then the bullpen gave it up. This is the story of the 2023 Cardinals. #198andcounting ETA - we got the win, so yay? But Gallegos, the "winning" pitcher is the one who surrendered Waino's lead. That just seems patently unfair (but I realize wins for relievers are basically nonsense). That's baseball for ya!
  20. Adam Wainwright is back on the bump tonight against the Snakes, no live BP, no rehab start. He's one of my favorite - if not the favorite - players of all time, and I just want him to do well. I honestly care more about that than the final score at this point. This is a sentiment he would absolutely HATE, and the fact he would hate it is part of the reason I love him, if that makes sense. LOL It pisses me off that some "fans" are saying he's selfish and only cares about getting to 200 wins, when: They would sell their souls for just one win in MLB; Obviously, 200 is a big deal to him and he's never said otherwise; The Cards suck this year, we're selling, and Waino getting 200 might be the only thing we have to look forward to for the rest of the season; We have literally no one else, the bullpen is exhausted, everyone we've called up from AAA has tanked; It's clear to me that he's taking the mound tonight at considerable risk to his own ego - with no live pitching, there's every chance it will be more of the same from his last few starts - to give the team whatever innings he can give them. Basically, any Cardinals "fan" who isn't pulling for Uncle Charlie to find some devil magic and finish his last season with dignity and a few more wins can fuck right off and go "support" another team.
  21. Robo umps NOW. The Cubs congratulating themselves on that win... bullshit. You didn't win, the ump GAVE it to you. Also, these AppleTV games are awful.
