  1. Agreed. I think it is trying to toe the line between documentary and soap and it is not working because it ends up being neither. A good soapie would have had Victoria having an affair with Lord Melbourne!!
  2. She is more a nuisance than a serious threat. Maybe that's the problem? And if they had to introduce such an annoying character could they have at least made her better looking? I don't get the Footman and the Duchess either, seems like one hell of a risk for both of them to take (especially her) just for some sex. I never felt the passion between them either. I thought she was more attracted to Lord P if anyone and at least Lord P had the advantage of being able to hide their trysts a lot better than the footman. It is more like a cheap soapie than a historical drama I agree. The scripts are bad, Albert being amazed by whatever new technology or science he is presented with regardless of what it is. He is like a kid in a toy store. Bertie being a brat I am still laughing at that PC line "England has Queens, not Kings!" yes, he would really say that. It all has become a little much.
  3. I felt really bad for the Uncle. He is living out of the way, wants to be left alone, not bothering a soul. Than the self important trio arrive and try and turn his life upside down. Just because he isn't living the way you would like him to it doesn't mean he needs to be helped! Not to mention our Self Important Trio are hardly examples of perfection themselves.
  4. Haven't seen it yet but it will be the season finale from what I understand. And what has happened this season? Ummmm..... not much really. Anyone else feel cheated?
  5. * Garcia has no business being part of a crime fighting team. I also don't understand what is so special about what she does either. Most of the time it seems all she is doing is narrowing down addresses and where someone spent some money. Hardly a genius crime fighter. * The ep where Garcia was all upset about the criminal getting the death sentence was ridiculous. Given all the crimes she has seen I would have hoped she learned something. I guess not. * Garcia crushing on Derek were always very gross and unprofessional. The team has to wait a few minutes for Garcia and Derek to talk shit before getting on with finding the killer. * For a show called Criminal Minds these people often don't come across as masterminds. There are a couple of exceptions but for the most part they are all pretty ordinary and probably would do better in Police uniform walking a beat. * The show has gone on for way too long. * JJ professing her love for Reid was a weak angle even for the situation and the two are mismatched anyway. I don't think Reid can handle games like that one. He would find it hard enough to deal with a woman liking him who was straight up honest to his face rather than what JJ did and then denying it later.
  6. I agree and all 3 shows are so similar even to each other. A fireman in Chicago Fire even played undercover cop in one episode! They all have the same PC sermon telling as well.
  7. I love dry sarcastic humour so Bill Murray is a fave of mine. Dan Aykroyd I can take or leave. The others you mentioned I am indifferent about but in the film they worked well together.
  8. Yeah, I'm sorry. This is the attitude that helped the movie tank. The film sucked, the funniest person in it was Hemsworth who is neither female nor a comedian. I am tired of remakes, reboots and pre/sequels altogether. There is a line in the trailer of this god awful film, the big black woman stage dives and the crown separate leaving her to face plant. She asks "So is this a black thing or a woman thing?" It's neither. It's a "You're too damn big to be jumping off a stage and expecting people to support you thing". Just like this film is not a female thing, it is a "This movie sucks" thing.
  9. I agree. If we compare this to a similar themed show "The Crown" you can see how "The Crown" is a lot better. Do we care about the lives and dramas of the servants when the show is called "Victoria"? I know I don't at all. As I mentioned in another post sometimes it gets confusing trying to work out what they made up and what is fact. I know there will always be some conjecture in this shows to fill in gaps and help the storyline but so often in this program you can just tell it is bullshit.
  10. He was funny at least. The "comedians" in the GB remake certainly weren't funny or attractive.
  11. Not a whole lot happening really. I agree.
  12. I think it is because Abby felt natural and was a relatively new concept at the time, a quirky out of place person in this crime/military environment. Kasie is trying too hard to be Abby. I'm not a fan of Garcia on Criminal Minds either who is another one of these screwball characters in contrasting environment.
  13. I thought that as well. She saw it as an investment which is why she asked how many of the students actually make the grade to the big leagues. I thought it was a reasonable question and concern. Not many people could or would want to spend that much money on what would just be a hobby.
  14. I only saw the trailers, from those alone I could nominate it for worst script, worst chemistry among an onscreen team, most unfunny comedians and comic actors, worst reboot/sequel/remake just what the hell was it supposed to be anyway? and most counter productive promotional methods ie calling anyone who didn't like it or criticized it "sexist". Oh and also Most ugliest cast.
  15. * The show has gone on for too long now and story lines are repeating themselves. IE How many times are one of the boys going to end up in hell or be possessed, how many more dead family members are going to come back? * I preferred the earlier seasons when it had a "monster of the week" format. This prevented long boring story arcs from sucking up entire seasons. * I prefer the sillier eps over the serious ones. * I stopped watching every episode a few seasons ago now. * I wonder if the show will last for so long that the two brothers will be wondering if "hunting" makes them eligible for old age pension.
  16. I agree. I also realized a long time ago that these awards aren't based on the quality of anything whether it be music, film or TV. It is based on how much money something has made or in the case of people's choice awards based on how many people bothered to vote and how many times the more obsessed fans voted for the same shows and people! I hate the speeches too, they all say the same thing. I used to get amused by The Razzies at one point but that has become PC, how did that Ghostbusters remake not get an award for something?!
  17. If I recall correctly the offer of leading the Army was also to distract him from the exhibition he was planning because the press was mocking him. In other words they just wanted him to do something else even if he had no interest or knowledge in it. I have noticed lots of feminist propaganda throughout the series. Especially in Season 1 where they portrayed her as some kind of helpless damsel surrounded by power hungry men keen to use her. I don't think it would have been all that different for a young King to be honest. Look at how Albert is treated at times he is also approached by many people hoping to gain his interest. I realize this is a soap opera but it is based on real events and people I wish they would drop with the modern politics and morality and just tell us the real stories.
  18. Did anyone else wish they'd included a gag reel at the end with the casting doing different dances and just messing around at the ball? As well as perhaps to the tunes of Adam and the Ants?
  19. 4.3 out of 10 on IMDB https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7634968/ Looks like it might be a SJW fest.
  20. 1/Novels like the True Blood series, Twilight, 50 Shades of Grey etc all read like they were written by an illiterate 8 year old girl. That simple sing song language style. 2/ Sometimes I just read the summary of a book on Wikipedia etc because often I feel let down by the books themselves and don't want to invest the time. 3/ I don't always understand why some "Classic Literature" is so wonderful.
  21. I'm Aussie and don't normally like Aussie films but really liked Animal Kingdom. It was like an old school Aussie crime movie, really dark and gritty. Also some trivia it is based on a real life crime family and the shooting of two cops similar to what you see in the film. I didn't mind the first couple of seasons of the TV show but I got bored with it in the end. Also in the film you can see the family are pretty lower middle class, they may have some money from crime but they are hardly living it up. In the TV show they are living the high life. I think that kind of jarred me a bit and also watching that old hag mother try and still pass herself off as sexy. In short I think the American one is too glamorous, surf shots, expensive homes and cars etc.
  22. I would almost get the risk if they were in love but I am not getting that impression from either one of them. I think he is an opportunist and apparently good at seducing the aristocracy and she is bored and attention starved.
  23. I don't know about the wire but they way they left off Hank knew the guy was going to kill himself and seemed to understand that was his preferred and probably only option and respected it. Cops in prison don't have a good time.
