  1. He also was in Miracle Workers with Quinta. I noticed he was credited as the director of last week's ep, nice to see him on screen. I wish they'd give Josh Segarra more to do, he was great on The Other Two. Loved the cold open.
  2. I think everyone suspects the true nature of their relationship. Jean called Schine Cohn's "pervert friend" & several characters have made insinuations about Cohn's sexuality. I imagine McCarthy doesn't want to open that can of worms because it would reflect poorly on the committee, plus he himself may have something to hide. For his part, Cohn seems to think his position makes him "bulletproof" or that he could manoeuvre his way out of any situation. That secretary in Hawk's office was so smug! And shortsighted...I would have been a lot more circumspect about messing with someone with Hawk's background/ connections.
  3. Was it though? They had such a big lead that it was unlikely that being U-turned would kick them out of the race. And it's still early enough in that staying in the race matters more than placement. I think Todd & Ashley had the right idea to U-turn one of the lower placed teams. One of those teams probably would have been last to the mat if they had to do two detours. That said, Analeigh did not come off well this ep. She seems to get frustrated easily and directs it at everybody else. It's a race and choosing a team to U-turn was compulsory, doesn't really matter who chose you. Anyways, not reading the clue properly was a bigger hindrance than the detours. Also, I don't enjoy watching Morgan & Lena because of their constant bickering, but seems like it works for them!
  4. Verna said that Roderick's descendants would outlive him if he rejected her offer. Otherwise, their lives would be prematurely shortened but they would never want for anything. Roderick really was a bastard, readily condemning Frederick & Tamerlaine, then going on to have even more kids. I wonder if Bill got some of the family money since he & Tamerlaine were still legally married?
  5. The reactions were my favourite part of the episode! Of course Judy & BJ have a nude portrait of themselves above their mantle. Uncle Baby Billy's skeeviness continues to entertain. I like that he & Tiffany are still solid.
  6. That was what everyone was initially told. It's revealed later in the episode that Kenneth killed Iain & his parents before shooting himself as a coverup. I'm guessing Iain had started confessing to his parents so Kenneth was trying to tie up loose ends. Of course he ended up being indirectly responsible for his own death, despite what Janet believed. I didn't quite see Pia as being the "Ugly American" - she was no less polite to Janet than Janet was to her. And she brushed off Stuart's off-colour remark about diversity when he met her. She was pushy about switching the topic of the doc and seemed inconsiderate about Davis' feelings, which made sense for her character - a filmmaker obsessed with a particular story. It also worked as commentary on the benefits/drawbacks of the true crime genre.
  7. Agreed. I think the zaniness works for this show partly because the Dubeks have always been OTT. I loved the sight gags at the theatre. Cary's bf is incredibly frustrating...I was really rooting for them to break up. But Cary's too insecure about his career to pass up a chance to be seen with a Tony nominated actor. I was happy Lance stood up for himself, he deserves better. Brooke needs some time alone to work through her issues but I do think there's still hope for their relationship.
  8. I'm guessing Hank will force Barry to kill Fuches in exchange for his family's safety. This episode was definitely more balanced in tone. I enjoyed it more than the last two.
  9. Why did they make a big deal about fit in the beginning then give the designers only 4 hrs? Not a fan of Megan's look but I thought Deontre deserved to go home. The fit on his was atrocious & the patchwork design seemed more Nigel's aesthetic than his. Also, am I the only one surprised that Amari is still there? Her looks are poorly made & not very memorable...I still don't have a handle on her aesthetic.
  10. You're correct...it was Tom in the pic, not Claudia. He was trying to point out that Lestat & Louis don't age with his question, but she snarkily responded that Tom didn't have the scar on his face then (the one given to him by Lestat).
  11. I just binged this over the last few days. I hadn't known anything about it beforehand but found it pretty engaging. Looking forward to another season. Jessica is one of the least likable characters I've ever seen though...I won't miss her when she eventually gets killed.
  12. Same. Claudia had valid reasons for wanting to kill Lestat, but he's so deviously entertaining that I didn't want her to succeed. Louis' declaration of love to Armand was interesting to me. Lestat tells Louis that he loves him on numerous occasions but I don't remember Louis saying it at any point throughout the season. He consistently frames their relationship as being due to their vampire bond rather than love. So the way he proudly claimed Armand at the end was a bit surprising. Especially the way he said it, I'm not totally convinced that it's genuine. (It's been a while since I've read the books or seen the movie so I'm foggy on the details of their relationship.) Overall, I've really enjoyed this adaptation so far. I can't wait for season 2.
  13. I'm enjoying the series so far...changing Louis' background and the time period has made the story more layered. So has ageing Claudia up. Her childhood trauma, eternal puberty and having Louis and Lestat as parents make for a voilatile mix. Me too. The show's pretty dark but doesn't take itself too seriously. The humour was unexpected but welcome. Louis needs to cut ties with his family. Also, I feel like Grace should have known about Claudia before the wake. Even though they don't talk much, Louis lives less than a mile away from her. Two prominent local businessmen taking in an orphan girl seems like something that would be gossiped about.
  14. I also think that Stanton is Athena. She's following in her mother's footsteps somewhat, but not in the way Regina wanted her to - she's using science instead of faith. I didn't really see the show as angling for a second season though...the teens have come to terms with their fates and nothing supernatural actually seems to be going on at Brightcliff. The final scene cleared up the only remaining questions for me.
  15. She is the worst! I have to rewatch the first season. I didn't realise the show was coming back and I've forgotten so much.
  16. Eaves is probably Helen's maiden name. She told Nour she inherited the house on the beach from her aunt, Lizzie Eaves. I'm guessing Nour took Helen's name as a tribute. I just binged this in a couple of days. I liked the premise & the main characters. The baby actors were great. But the plot was a bit lacking for me, and I wished the tone was more evenly balanced between comedy & horror.
  17. I definitely think there are worse fates and I wouldn't have shown the grace that Calliope did. But I think that there's a reason we were told what happened to Erasmus; it's possible things end similarly for Maddoc. I haven't read the comic though, so my thoughts are just based on this episode.
  18. If Calliope was kept naked in a dingy room, Richard could not continue to lie to himself about his true nature. Trying to relate to Calliope as a collaborator rather than as his prisoner and championing diversity seem like ways to assuage his guilt and protect his own ego; to make himself feel better about what he has done to her. Similar to Fry justifying his actions with the fact that Calliope isn't human. I don't think any of that means she isn't suffering - a gilded cage is still a cage. His career as a writer/ director is over. At the hospital he seemed to have lost all creativity and some of his memories. He'd also have to deal with fallout of having a public meltdown. Considering he didn't have much of a personal life, I think losing his talent and career is pretty much a death knell for him.
  19. PD recently became available on HBO Max in my region, so I just watched it for the first time since its original run. Still as whimsical & charming as I remember. I'd forgotten how funny Emerson was. And Olive t This is one of my favourite scenes! I also realised this time around how depressed Ned was; he could have benefitted from therapy. Also, it's a good thing Ned worked with Emerson because there's no way he could support himself with just the Pie Hole - too few customers, random closures & so many health code violations. I feel ambivalent about Chuck. She adjusted as well as anyone could to coming back from the dead. Initially, she was excited to have a second chance after missing out on so much the first time around. But then she seemed to have no ambitions, other than being with Ned. What were her dreams before she died? Also, drugging Lily & Vivian & bringing back her long-dead Dad were hard to overlook. I found Olive endearing but wish she'd switched to working with Emerson full time. Their rapport was great & she needed some distance from Ned. Overall, the show remains enjoyable after 15 years but it really deserved a better ending.
  20. It looked to me like he was sealing the bottles with new, intact caps. It's pretty easy to buy bottle caps wholesale. Knowing the effect that working with Walt & Jesse has on Saul, I didn't mind seeing their meeting from Saul's pov. Aaron Paul didn't look or sound like BB era Jesse, but I could ignore it for a few minutes. Like I've been ignoring the aging of other actors on BCS, who look older than when we met them on BB, despite their characters being younger.
  21. Maybe she marries Raymond after divorcing Patrick...otherwise Claire would be different.
  22. Allison's happy ending was probably what she bargained for in her deal with Hargreaves. If they do another season, I hope her perfect reality doesn't turn out the way she expected. Why keep Ben & not Sloane? I was just starting to warm up to her. We also just had a whole season of one of the umbrellas pining for their lost family, we don't need to retread that.
  23. Allison is going through a lot but that's no excuse for what she did to Luther. I know it's unlikely but I hope they address it later.
  24. I thought it was the full reality of the situation hitting Hank as adrenaline started to wear off. His happiness & relief giving way to: 1) the fact that Cristobal had been lying to him throughout their relationship 2) Cristobal having a family in Bolivia (I don't think he knew about the kids until he saw the portrait) 3) everyone in their respective gangs finding out about their relationship 4) the psychological effects of the trauma of kidnapping & torture 5) the death of his dream of the 2 of them living together under the radar in California. I agree that it's darker, which seems inevitable due to the premise. Up until these last 2 eps, I still felt some of that quirky charm though. I hope next season finds a better balance between the humour & darkness. I don't know how since the acting class is gone now & everyone else is dealing with intense situations but I'm rooting for Hader & the writing team to pull it off.
  25. I also suspected Gene was acting to get Barry to go in the house but I didn't expect a police ambush. So now both Barry & Fuches are in custody. Where does the show go from here?
