  1. Just finished Dragon Bones by Patricia Briggs. It was okay, but I won't be bothering with the sequel.
  2. I only watched a series or two with Rollins. They ruined her character with all those pregnancies. Talk about the perfect time for SVU to really show it was willing to tackle genuine issues and the whole team completely whiffed and failed.
  3. Any idea what he said about the slap? Personally, I think Smith should have been arrested and charged with assault.
  4. Even worse, we get people with pretty normal budgets looking for the exact same thing over and over and over. And a thousand times worse than that is we get "designers" promoting the same thing. If your design looks like it could be picked out at a big box store as kitchen #1 and bathroom #2, all open concept you are not designing.
  5. Between the stupidity of the owners and the pure criminal behaviour of the contractors this programme is disturbing. Wish Rico would focus more on those stories than the house renovations. All of those are quite boring.

    Disney Films

I'm feeling a lot of parental pride over the response my child had to a Disney film. Son was seriously disgusted at how unrealistic The Lion King was. Apparently, according to my little future Dr. Leela Hazzah, Nala should have been the star of the film. Apparently lion prides are run by females. Who knew? (Aside from lots of biologists and those not brainwashed by sexist society...)
  7. After reading the Wheel of Time series, and Sanderson's additions, I've always been incredibly wary of reading anything else he's done. Seems I'm not missing anything.
  8. Well, that's IG for you... (she says, ruthlessly judging and stereotyping strangers and not feeling at all bad about it).
  9. First thought: that house looks like it's screaming.
  10. Here's an unpopular opinion: I HATE the Harry Potter films. They suck IMO. 1 and 2 were so-so, from then on they were horrible. I do wonder how many fans love and defend them just because they've seen them a bajillion times since they were teenagers or younger.
  11. Ah well, kind of have to give that to them. Do you know how many Americans wouldn't be able to id Paris (with or without the Eiffel Tower now that I think about it...) ;)
  12. I've been saying for a while that I'd love to see a season of Survivor non-fans competing. They could get a simple rule book before coming to the island so they know about things like Idols etc. It would be so much better than series after series of obsessed superfans blathering on and on.
  13. This is the first of her books that I've read, but I'd have to say no to the "woman in jeop" trope. In either timeline. Nor was there any gratuitous violence against females, which I try very hard to avoid. Have you read any of her other books? Like I said, I liked this one but I'm not sure on some of the others, based on reviews I've seen.
  14. Just finished listening to The Villa by Rachel Hawkins. Quite liked it. A fun listen, but if you don't like jumping timelines it might not be for you.
  15. Legalities don't mean much to the brain. Nor has straight punishment been proven to be beneficial. While I feel for George and real people in his position, how does throwing away a young life, who has most likely not had a chance to mature or live in a good environment, help society at all? All that happens is in how many years Ronnie and his 'gang' will be harder and more likely to commit more serious crimes.
  16. Listening to Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen by Lois McMaster Bujold.
  17. Where he's shoot people with his many NRA approved guns? Is commercial fanfic a thing yet?
  18. This is so on point and timely. The USA is dealing with this right now. How deal with children and young people who commit crimes, keeping the rest of society safe, while also not cruelly, and short sightedly, just throwing them into the hell of prison. Of course the States would never even consider learning from countries that manage to pretty much get it right....
  19. Why not? IG is that person deciding they want their life (or their fictional life) to be invaded. Don't post there if that's not what you want.
  20. She was awesome. Hidden doors and passageways is so cool in a house. The place they got looked fantastic. Maintenance of an older house, especially once things like HVAC, electrical, roof are newer isn't any worse than of a new build.
  21. Her clear fluster when trying to drive on the "wrong" side of the road and the clumsiness spell dyspraxia to this educational psychologist. But that's just based on this obviously small, edited sample. If so there are things she could do to make her and her hubby's lives easier. And safer, though he is a doctor and they're right down the street from an A&E lol.
  22. I much prefer Emily Starr to Anne Shirley in book form and I can mostly say the same re: screen. There's even part of me that still expects Aunt Laura and Dr Burnley to get together when I listen to the Emily books.
  23. Sadly not just in children's stories. Lots of stories starring males would be plot-less without dead or assaulted females https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WomenInRefrigerators
  24. I liked the Mackay AU buyers. She was lovely, though I do wonder if she's dyspraxic.
  25. The illness is called sexism and societal expectations on female beauty. It's still on her, imo, no matter what he prefers.
