  1. Yes it's true that he did help out especially the gilmore girls. I did like Luke the best though when he was Jess' guardian, that relationship was great to watch. But i can't get over how obnoxious his behaviour is, particularly towards those who don't deserve it (customers, cyclists, townsfolk) every time he has à spat with lorelai. The writers did turn him into à bumpkin as soon as E&R were in sight. It probably didn't help much because Scott Pattersons performance wasn't as nuanced, it always was à bit oot.
  2. Really unpopular opinion coming up: don't like luke at all! And he and lorelai were like Ross and Rachel. I liked him in season 1 but quickly soured on him. Just find him unbearable most of the time. Also, how is it that he never got arrested/sued except for the sockman incident? He physically threw out two paying customers out on their knees, he knocked over several cyclists and he sought out Chris to punch him plus the town square fisticuffs. Boy, was he à brute!
  3. Yes, that bugs me so! Even her pyjamas would have been a better option. Her endless wardrobe makes it all the more unbelievable considering she must down at least 10 pairs of jeans, none of which would ever need go to the drycleaners!
  4. I haven't seen the revival, so cannot comment on that, but if she has matured, i would say good on her. During the original run, she never did outgrow her teenager persona and really just wanted to be the anti Emily at any cost! And it somehow appears that she may have low self esteem too. She always was eager to criticize everyone else's parties/events and had such a need to be seen as ultra cool. Plus the over reliance on Rory for friendship and peership was detrimental to Rory in fact. As many others have pointed out, she never did play the mum card often enough.
  5. As i continue to watch in repeats, it becomes glaringly obvious how ill behaved lorelai is in most social situations. At the b&b (rude to everyone not named rory), at the Harvard alumni dinner (she didn't even take a token gift for the hosts), Fran's funeral (the jumping at the end, both she and sookie were deplorable), at town meetings (childish behaviour), at Luke's (annoying other customers, using mobile phone despite his requests). Gosh,i could go on and on!!!! She really believes her own hype, doesn't she? All that cutesy begins to wear thin after à while! It's like no matter where she goes, she can't feign politeness for a few minutes.
  6. Et voilà!! There she comes with the children too!!! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3825573/PICTURED-Shaken-Kim-Kardashian-Kanye-West-emerge-New-York-apartment-daughter-North-son-Saint-terrifying-8-5-million-jewellery-heist-Paris.html
  7. Fictionlover, I think amensisterfriend has articulated much of my points very well, thanks asf! I will add my two cents...Well, for one he seemed to have no joy left, just rage, pure boiling anger. And he became one-time, always ranting at something or the other. It's not fun to watch, particularly repeat watches can drive u mad. Why do I subject myself to this lol? And throwing paying customers for expecting service from a diner....that's pushing it too far. He cannot run a business if his personal life bleeds into his profession and completely takes over. Or even in the Pippi episode, how awful he is to Dean but says nothing to princess Rory! Gah, he is such a wimp. Yes, almost all the characters became more exaggerated after season 3 when they started to up their quirkiness quotient. New UO: never liked Gypsy, I cannot even articulate why but I just don't but love Jackson. I liked his friendship with Lorelai, it was always such a delight to see them together. Love the sleeping with zucchini and the episode where he stays over with her and wears those quirky pjs. Lovely platonic relationship.
  8. Oh absolutely txhorns! I know Lorelai exaggerates and embellishes but seriously you would think Emily and Richard kept her in a gulag or concentration camp from her stories!!! I do think Lore lived for the drama and she really enjoyed the rollercoaster ride with her parents. I have a friend who is like this, much given to hyperbole and drama and her relationship with her own mother was fraught with tension, partly because she didn't like dull moments hehe. Sorry but my UO is I absolutely dislike Luke from season 3 onwards. His menacing looks played for effect, his rage and temper tantrums, plus that unshaven slovenly look he sported most of the time really put me off. This morning I was watching Jews and Chinese Food and So Good Talk, he actually threw two paying customers out of the diner presumably because they asked to be seated and served!!! The nerve of the customers expecting service, poor Luke couldn't process his break-up with Lorelai or worse he couldn't say one word to Emily about the meddling so he takes it out on his customers by physically assaulting them for no reason. How did he ever not get sued? And I realized that I detected a pattern there....he usually goes for the males whenever he has problems with his females....when Nicole cheated on him he socked the sock guy:-), when Lorelai slept with Chris, he went up all the way to Chris' flat to punch him, he put Dean in a headlock when he broke up with precious and he started raving and ranting at Logan when they were caught in flagrante delicto! It's like he cannot communicate at all with any of the women but he can only punch and kick men. Gosh I hate that side of Luke, absolutely hate that he became a simian on steroids when upset with his girlfriend/wife/ersatz daughter etc.
  9. Bringing it from the Nitpick thread, the mollycoddling of Rory was nauseating to watch. In The Reigning Lorelai, Lorelai tells Rory of Gran's death and then tells her that she (gran) is sooooo lucky to have Rory as a great grand daughter, huh? Why? It also annoys me when Emily says something to that effect in the finale. It just annoys me that the Gilmores see Rory like this perfect being. No wonder Rory had such a huge sense of entitlement, particularly post season-3 Rory. My other UO, their funeral anecdotes are just too precious, they border on cloyingly annoying. I.e. Dead Uncles and Veg, when Patty and Babbette blab on about Louie and his escapades and in the aforesaid episode, when Marlyn talks about her dead cousin, the stories are cringe worthy. And speaking of Babette, she has some weird hand gestures while talking, I cannot stop noticing it and it drives me batty. While I am at it, might as well get it off my chest that Lorelai drives me mad when she channels her inner Dharma:-) I swear I think Lauren and Jenna Elfman are twins and on her worst days, Lorelai gets as crazy and ditzy as Dharma! P.S: That parody is spot on! The resemblance to Lauren is uncanny!!!
  10. Oh that was so contrived, Jo and her camera entourage approaching women who were lunching on camera!!!! Good times, I am watching the series from episode 1 and it really is such a different show. Matt Keough is actually doing some talking heads. Kara is cute in a Alicia Silverstone Clueless cute plus I like that she is close to her mother, complete opposite of Vicki and Brana (that's how Vicks calls her, lol). And the house Slade and Jo 'live' in looks like a show house to me, all they ever do is stand in the kitchen and sip wine. And the one time Slade and his sons are supposedly cooking, nothing happens on screen except poor little Grayson scratching his itchy butt. God bless the poor child, but he was so adorable! The only redeeming thing about Slade are his two sons. Gosh, Jo pulls so many faces when she speaks it is annoying!! Vicki and her sucky hole of neediness, Laurie and her wallet hunt, Kimberley and her enormous shop bought ta-tas, Jeanna and her genetics, happy days!
  11. Now I am not sure if this belongs here, but in the final season why did they have a Richard has a heart attack episode again? I fail to see that, although most episodes from the final season seem to be mirroring the first season. But I would have loved to see Emily have a health crisis of some sort, an aneurysm (of course non threatening) or something kidney related just enough to warrant a stay in the hospital. Which then forces Lorelai and Emily to re-examine their relationship and take two steps forward and not the usual cha cha cha! In lighter vein though, it would be super if Emily needed a kidney transplant and Lorelai donated hers and then lording over Emily for the rest of their lives; forcing Emily to Friday Night Dinners at the Hollow, GG style.....all junk and no veggie or salmon in sight! (Logically not possible since Emily would be on a strict diet after a kidney transplant, but fun to think about it).
  12. Ms Blue Jay, lol those blue jeans, those reminded me of Kramer's Frankenstein jeans! Gosh, they look like they were painted on and I was completely hypnotized by the ass, not in a good way though! She also wears a dark blue pearl design shirt that is too short to wear on jeans, oh my that blouse is hideous. Anyway, my super unpopular opinion of the day is that I like the comfortable chemistry between Chris and Lorelai, the familiarity and their warmth despite all of their history. In Presenting Lorelai Gilmore, the waltz at Patty's studio makes my heart melt and seeing the utter joy on Rory's face seeing her parents dance, awwww! And I have always believed that Luke and lorelai are better off as friends. They should have dated to get the sexual tension out and then decided that they are better off as mates not life partners. Much like Rachel and Joey. The contrived L&L ending preceded by the rushed L&C marriage and subsequent dissolution just makes me so angry.
  13. More like Assa Parks as in gotta park that ass!!! Absolutely no offence or disrespect meant to the late Ms. Parks, just snarking on Kim and Yeezus.
  14. I cannot stand Tamra, yet given a choice I would much rather not see Heather. She is absolutely revolting. So fake and phony, her persona, with no redeeming qualities at all. She doesn't seem like a warm person even with her children, just clinical and perfunctory. No wonder she is married to a plastic surgeon! As for the title: Heather Dubrow: who ate her cake?
  15. It seems divorce is on the cards, more details here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2694999/Phaedra-Parks-wants-leave-husband-Apollo-Nida-sake-children-serves-eight-years-prison.html
