  1. As somebody who went through IVF, I can talk about this. To me, each embryo was a chance of life. I had two embryos and both implanted but one miscarried. I was heartbroken that it did (I still am) but I wouldn't trade my daughter for anything. Now if we'd had extra embryos, we were planning on donating them to research because they were chances of life, not actual children. Everybody is different. Some people discard them, some donate them to couples who can't conceive, some donate them to research, some keep them indefinitely and some do what's known as compassionate transfer where they transfer the embryos during a time in their cycle when they know the embryos won't implant just so they can say they have them a chance of life. All that being said, if my embryos were destroyed before I had made a choice, I'd be devastated and angry and want whoever was at fault to pay. IVF is not for the faint. It's weeks of injections, a painful procedure to remove the eggs and you're never guaranteed a large number of eggs or embryos, letalone viable ones. I had 11 eggs harvested. Out of those 11, I got my daughter. And did I mention how expensive it is? I'm lucky my son was conceived naturally because I don't know if I could have gone through that whole rigamaroll again. But it still wasn't murder. I mean, it was the murder of a dream and a chance of life but not a person. The guy that dropped the embryos deserved to pay as did the facility where the embryos were held but not for murder.
  2. I didn’t like the mother present sketch. Once dad started giving out his gifts, I understood mom had been emotionally abused for years. That sort of thing should not be made light of. otherwise, I enjoyed the show, especially the joke swap. Michael Che just loves ragging on Jost for his marriage to ScarJo.
  3. Oh no, that dance in the original was ridiculous. I remember watching and thinking, this is supposed to be good? Why is she so stilted? I don’t get it.
  4. As a child and niece of people who have had multiple organ transplants, this episode hits close to home. My stepdad's uncle was one of those people who received a call saying they had a kidney for him and when the kidney showed up, it was... not good. Luckily, he received another call about a week later. My uncle, who was in his fifties at the time, received a kidney that somebody else turned down and that kidney never fully worked and ended up failing less than 5 years later. Turned out the kidney was from somebody in their late 70s and not in the best of health. I had a teenage patient that ended up getting two liver transplants in less than 2 weeks because the first one was also...well it had been turned down by other people too. That's the other thing that people don't tell you about organ transplants. They don't always work that well, bodies will reject them and it's very common for people to need repeat transplants. Now that doesn't mean I'm saying don't donate. Far from it. But it's definitely why we need more people to donate.
  5. I had the EXACT same training. Actually more because we also had OMT lab twice a week where we practiced osteopathic techniques on each other. And when I reached residency, I was the only DO in my residency program. There have been DOs who have done their residencies at Stanford and the Cleveland Clinic and the current physician to the president is a DO.
  6. She what? How dare she. I'm a DO. I was the only DO in my residency. I took the same exam as MDs. I work with MDs. I earn the same as MDs and I consult with MDs and they consult with me. Some of the best doctors in the country are DOs. She should stay in her lane which is law.
  7. Sunny should ask herself, what is Israel supposed to do? They were attacked, innocent people kidnapped, are they supposed to just sit around and twiddle their thumbs? Yes, Sunny, be upset that innocent Palestinians are dying but she should also make sure to blame the actual culprits, the terrorists that knew exactly what was going to happen when they open fired on families.
  8. He’s the guy with the fake nose in the trailers so obviously we need him now to get to him later. (Not a spoiler since it’s in the trailer)
  9. That's where I know him from! That's been bothering me for years. In other news, those wall heads were freaky.
  10. I saw it too and it's just a completely insane show in a good way. Where else are you going to see a professional operatic baritone sing Backstreet Boys? That being said, I know why they chose Roar figuring the actress was nominated but it is definitely not the best sing in the production. Saw Shucked and Kimberly Akimbo too and I think they could have done better with the Shucked number. Haven't seen SLIH. There was so much controversy and backlash when it first came out regarding the plot and its like all that has disappeared. Leopoldstadt is a very hard show to watch. It made me cry.
  11. How many times has Leah Michelle sang Don’t Rain on My Parade on the Tonys? It’s definitely been more than once. So sick of her.
  12. This isn't the first time she's talked about this and it just annoys me every time. It's like I've said multiple times, egg freezing just lulls you into a false sense of security. Eggs are more fragile than embryos and have a higher chance of not surviving the thaw. And just because an egg is fertilized, it doesn't mean it's going to become an embryo and just because an embryo is created, it doesn't mean it'll be viable and just because it's viable doesn't mean it'll implant. When I did IVF, I had 11 eggs, 9 fertilized and 2 became embryos. One is my daughter and the other I miscarried. And I didn't have fertility issues (male factor) Has Sunny ever mentioned how many times she had her eggs harvested? How many viable embryos she had? How many failed transfers? Or does she just think that science has improved that much in the last 15-20 years that every harvested egg will become a baby? If not, then stop giving people false hope, please.
  13. I just have to know. How many QZs are still in existence? because as of right now, the only 2 we know of are Boston and Atlanta. All the others seem to have been destroyed.
  14. I miss Ziggy being the chatty AI with the big ego who liked spilling tea. Too bad they had to take her voice away.
  15. I like Russell Brand, I really do, but he’s not nearly as smart as he thinks he is. Yes, ivermectin is more than a horse medication. I’ve prescribed it to patients myself. But I prescribed it to rid patients of horrible head lice infections, not bacteria or viruses. I agree with him about the pharmaceutical companies trying to make huge profits off the Covid vaccines. Who can forget a few weeks back Moderna trying to increase the price of its vaccine like 900% and then was shamed back into making it free? And don’t even get me started on insulin prices or fighting with insurance to get medications and treatments/tests approved. However, MSNBC is not FoxNews. Morning Joe is not a news show anymore than The Today Show is. Joe Rogan is a conspiracy nut. Vitamin D does not protect you from getting Covid (it does protect you from rickets and osteoporosis, though) Saying things loud and fast does not make you right. Holy crap, Bill admitted that the vaccines actually do save lives! Finally, Bill, get off your high horse about college not being necessary. Not too long ago, City College of New York was free. Not only that, it’s nickname was “Harvard of the poor.” You want to go to law school or med school? You went to CCNY? You’re in! Now, in order to get into medical school, you need above a 3.5 at an Ivy League (or academically equivalent) school along with whatever the equivalent of a 35 on the MCAT now is (they changed the scoring scheme some time in the last 10 years) along with hours of research and volunteering at a hospital. And unless you’re lucky enough to get into NYU, you’re going to be paying through the nose, especially if you’re out of state, Thanks to a small inheritance I received from my father passing away when I was a baby, I graduated from college with no student debt. I then graduated from med school with over $220k in student debt. Because of grants due to working for the underserved and the Covid forbearance, I’m down to $50,000. I don’t qualify for Biden’s forgiveness plan but I don’t begrudge anyone who does. And do you know what I would do with that extra money? Use it on the things I’m paying for now-childcare, diapers, food, my mortgage, clothes (yes, Bill, clothes-kids grow and need new clothes and even old clothes wear out so suck it, Bill), transportation and, yes, even the occasional vacation because, let’s face it, as a doctor who was both pregnant and working full time during Covid and watched half of her coworkers either quit or retire and is still waiting for those open positions to be filled, I’m burnt out.
  16. Wow. Did that guy even understand what the word “infringement” actually means? Regulating is not infringing. Heck, the word “regulated” is also in the second amendment, why doesn’t anyone ever get hung up on that word? And what logic is there saying “oh, let’s not worry about people dying by guns because people are also dying from drug overdoses?” Both are problems, one has a much easier fix.
  17. We get $40 in New York but it’s been that amount for at least 15 years. It was actually nice when I was stuck on jury duty while being an underemployed pre-med student. I made more for 8 days of work than I did for my regular job and some days we only had to go in for an hour to hear one witness and then we were dismissed. Interestingly enough, the last time I was called for jury duty was in March 2020. And then the world shut down and my summons was postponed indefinitely. I still haven’t been recalled.
  18. That was a really good episode. I am tired, though, of all these short leaps. Sam sometimes had leaps that lasted days and it's amazing how Ben can wrap everything up in just a few hours. Meanwhile, cute shout-out to Pretty Little Liars which starred Troian Bellisario, Donald P's daughter.
  19. For some I-don’t-know-why reason, I just found out yesterday, there’s going to be a season 2 of this show. What is wrong with Disney?
  20. No, you were all right. There were 3 other people in the imaging chamber besides Al. One was when Sam was in the asylum and she was another scientist helping out. She could be seen because Al was holding her hand but Sam couldn't hear her. One was the rape victim from the waiting room and they needed to revamp the imaging chamber so Sam could hear her so he could repeat her testimony. but she still had to hold Al's hand to be seen. Finally there was Gushie when the serial killer escaped the waiting room and Al went to go track him down. The neural link wasn't good so Gushie came in choppy or as a disembodied voice. So I think I wouldn't have minded ian in the imaging chamber if they had held Addison's hand the whole time... but they didn't.
  21. He probably filmed this right after or during A League of Their Own. That’s the only thing that I’ve ever seen him clean-shaven in and I read that he almost didn’t take this part because of a prior commitment and A League of Their Own is the only other show he’s been in recently that I can recall.
  22. My issue with Luis Guzman is he has no range. I've been watching him "act" for the last 25 years and he always plays the same character, whether good guy or bad.
  23. I was thinking the exact same thing!
  24. This episode also had no Ian. If I have to deal with present time scenes, at least give me some Ian.
  25. So much bad medicine! Where do I begin? Okay, so I did look it up and it's very super rare but women can in fact get Duchenne's. What type of residents are these doctors? ED? Internal med? Surgery? And why is a general surgeon performing a heart transplant and dealing with anesthesia? That's also not how you order medication. Also, asystole is not shockable rhythm.
