    S13 E12: Time's Up

This episode really brought home the central theme of the DCC series centering around cuts and how tiring that is becoming. Each season we're told this is the most difficult group to cut because all the Veterans and Rookies are good. We're repeatedly told just how stressful it seems in reducing the training camp group down to 36. We all love DCC but the requirements for making the team are known. It's not like Kelly and Judy are doing cuts for a 53 man roster or assembling a team to the International Space Station. It shouldn't be this hard or stressful - unless you make it so through legacy nepotism. If this season has shown us anything, an additional impartial third voice is required, when legacies are involved that aren't fully tied into the DCC fraternity. I'd also like to see the series narrative improved, from focusing on rookie candidates that will be getting cut, to how a good cheerleader becomes such and makes the team. The negativity of getting cut and the apparent stress of that shouldn't be the central theme of the show. I get making cuts are hard but instead of repeatedly whining about it on screen show us the missing details that can make the process more decisive. Victoria got cut. Yes, this should have happened much earlier, for reasons discussed ad nauseum here already. Tara got cut. She did seem rather out of sync and someone in this thread mentioned she had a bad break up. Sad. Hope she is okay moving forward.
  2. Unfortunately, your statement isn't correct, according to Forbes' 2018 rankings. Dallas is balling more than any other sports franchise in the world. I really believe the DCCs should be paid a proper, full-time wage, even a trainee wage. This is so the best candidates can dedicate themselves to the best team of its kind. We can see what holding down a full-time job and having to commute a long distance did to Kristen's chances of making the team. It's incredibly shameful that DCCs are being paid a pittance, being sued for it, in 2018. Come on Jones' family, step up and show everyone how to treat women fairly and equally.
  3. You take the bread and place it on your small bread plate to your left. You take some butter from the butter dish with a knife and place it on your bread plate. Do not use a knife to cut your bread. You tear a small mouth sized portion of bread which you butter. Place that in your mouth, chew, repeat only when you're ready to eat more bread. Don't line up a whole bunch of little bite sized pre-buttered pieces! Do not butter the entire bread and tear off pieces. Expect the occasional amazed comment, "You eat your bread properly!" if you're able to eat follow bread eating etiquette. No one really cares about this but it's good to know for really formal occasions. As for the episode it was great seeing Jinelle as DCC Staff assisting. It's way too early to be talking about her taking over Kelly or Judy's role not to mention disrespectful. I'd like to see more of Jinelle in a pep talk guidance role to encourage the candidates. Sad that Kristen had to go. She was articulate, intelligent and really representative of what a modern, thoughtful DCC should be. Sadly that massive commute must have taken its toll as she always appeared resigned and tired. I really hope she sorts out her work situation so she isn't driving 100+ miles to practise next time. She'd make a great DCC. +1 KaShara for saying how it is with Victoria! It was great seeing the girls wearing the DCC uniform. Sadly Victoria's mid-section looked like it was about to burst, poor thing. Any other year the candidate would have been dropped, yet we're still seeing her week in, week out, embarrassing herself. Quail is not seafood! Brennan looked great this episode, rooting for her to make it on her third try. Wish they did more profiling on the Veterans or other candidates I feel they cover the majority poorly.
  4. Imagine using Instagram as your only news source. Poor TT. Why is Victoria still a candidate? Been watching DCC for many seasons, so the inconsistencies and favouritism shown in keeping her in training camp is astounding. The selection process has lost much credibility by keeping her and she should have left before they cut Dayton.
  5. Busted for not reading the entire thread! Thanks for the correction. I've read about the top level entertainment gigs that Dayton may be doing on RCL and they sound fine. I truly wish her all the best as I'm sure it'll be a great experience.
  6. Sign me up for Team Dayton 2019! I really wanted her to get through. She is sweet, gorgeous and would be the perfect DCC. Maybe youth and memorisation got the better of her on her second attempt. I really hope she doesn't give up and treats her dismissal as a learning experience. A great thing about watching this show year in year out is seeing people returning to training camp multiple times. Really rooting for Brennan to make it this year. It's obvious Victoria should have been cut instead. Still, it was nice to seeing Jinelle in the background, didn't realise she was still affiliated with the team, hope she is able to work some magic because that is what is needed. Producers of this show, please bring back Travis Wall, next season. I know he appeared in the previous episode but I just caught up today. His contemporary moves were beautiful and he had excellent, articulate insights. Definitely the best choreographer I recall seeing on this show.
