  1. But the youngest bear is smart! You can tell because he wears glasses.
  2. Ya think? LOL! I mean, even if Aly didn't have established emotional problems, on what planet is it appropriate for a person's father's girlfriend to sneak up on a person at WORK in the middle of the WORKDAY and lay this on them?
  3. I hate Ridge so much that although I know this is not true, I really wish it was!
  4. My husband too! Last night he said to me, "Hey! You know what night it is? Bates Motel night!" I told him last week was the season finale. He didn't believe me and brought up the channel guide only to see a marathon of Criminal Minds or whatever A&E played last night.
  5. I don't believe Thorne really gave in. It seemed more like he told Aly what she wanted to hear in the moment to calm her down. I bet this isn't done. And yes, Taylor did not run Darla down in cold blood. But it wasn't a pure accident; she was at fault because she drove after she'd been drinking. I may have missed it because I am no fan of St. Taylor, and to be frank sometimes I have to tune out when she's on one of her sanctimonious rolls, but did she ever really own up to that part of it? I remember a lot of talk about the fog, about Darla being in the road, but not so much about the wine in Taylor's system,. Because if that's true, I can understand Aly grinding that particular axe (see what I did there?).
  6. Dylan gives up the weed business and takes a job as a lifeguard at an indoor pool. Because he needs to be shirtless in every episode, Just not around Norma, please. We get enough of that squick with Norman. Just kidding about the lifeguard stuff. Sort of. I agree with maculae, I want to see more Emma. She was very underused this season. I also want to understand more of how Norma and Norman became so entwined. I'll admit: I had a slow start with this show, so maybe it was addressed in an early episode that I slept through. But was it ever explained how Norma and Norman came to this conclusion that they are the same person? What caused this unnatural attachment? I would like to see more about Norman's childhood. I want to see Dylan confront Caleb and the reality of his conception. I want to see him get a little bit of closure with Caleb. He got to say a lot to Norma but not much to him.
  7. Yeah, the King's Hawaiian rolls commercial is a serious headscratcher for me. WHY do they all just suck them into their mouths? Even the dog? Is this some new indication of the deliciousness of a food, developing an otherworldly suction for it? And what the heck does it mean to go pulule? (I tried googling it, no help; maybe I have it spelled wrong). And why does the neighbor only thank Carol? She didn't bake the rolls. Seriously, that commercial is all sorts of weird.
  8. Word to this. I wish Brooke had just agreed that they are different people (there's that line again!), that it's over, and sadly agreed they had to allow each other to move on. They are so, so over. And hopefully Rick doesn't leave Caroline because she gets fat. THAT was hard to take with Eric and Donna. I hope Ridge overhears Katie telling everyone that she doesn't need a ring and that ridiculous oversized piece of ribbon knotted around her finger is just the most wonderful of wonderful. So he doesn't buy her a ring and she has to wear that forever. If that happens, I will be thoroughly behind them staying married for the duration of the show's run.
  9. My husband calles Romero "Sheriff Mascaro." That man must have some thick eyelashes.
  10. This cracks me up too. I really can't stand the DirectTV marionettes. I don't like marionettes to begin with but the whole freaking premise is beyod annoying. And that stupid kid marionette, the way his eyes roll up to the ceiling in what I guess is supposed to be a sad expression, it makes me want to take a match to him. And correct me if I'm wrong. Don't televisions need to be plugged in too? We don't have one of those newfangled sets you can hang on the wall, but unless you have an outlet installed directly behind it, wouldn't there be wires coming out of the set? I just don't understand how the set has no wires.
  11. Overall I enjoyed the episode and like where the series is going. Except for this. He didn't even blink when Jodi got blown away. And I for one don't like the whole mother and son reunion . . . I get that Dylan craves his mother's love but still he is no idiot . . . and it is so freaking obvious that her sudden turnaround on him is because he saved Norman. S1 Dylan would have called her out on that immediately and told her to shove the third ticket. Now he's holding her almost as close as Norman does. I just don't like this direction with Dylan.
  12. Well, come to think of it, they might not have said interstate. But the main highway had definitely been re-routed, which is why the motel suited Marion's need for hiding. That is until Norman came at her with a knife, LOL.
  13. There was a bypass in the movie. The interstate was recently re-routed, which is why the Bates Motel is doing such a lousy business.
  14. +1. I loved Brad from his pool boy days . . . everything about the way the character developed over time was organic and believable in a soap sense, even given that he ended up running Newman Enterprises with Jack. (Those portraits! Such good times!) It all made sense given what we were shown on screen. That is until - For this, and for Brad's pathetic Chicks-Only funeral, I will never forgive this show. I will continue to watch for that is my problem, but never forgive. Now, stepping into the way-back machine for a moment, a character I would never have gotten rid of was Colonel Austen. Pricktor needs that sort of hanger-on confidante who can call him on his bullshit from time to time. I honestly see the loss of the Colonel as the beginning of current SuperTool Victor. Not a good thing. I also hate that they killed off Liz Foster (and the stupidity of Jill being adopted!). And killing off Hope was bad too.
  15. Work's been crazy lately and it's been interfering with my keeping up with the show. This made me sad and a little mad, but then I caught some recent episodes. Now I am grateful. I hated, hated, HATED Hope/Liam/Steffy but this bullshit torn between two brothers triangle makes me want it back badly. "Equal time"? "You got her today that means I get her tonight?" What the hell is she, in a custody arrangement?? Ugh. How insulting. Not to mention that Hope really likes being fought over like a freaking chew toy which is not fun to watch. Ping bong balls have more pride. And speaking of custody, Katie can just cut out the crying because <sniff> she has to give <sniff> Will up for the <sniff sniff> night. To his FATHER. Who should have had shared custody all along. But besides that fact, Will is coming home soon, you miserable idiot. Didn't take Ridge too long to propose. A few weeks after he was to marry Brooke. But then again Katie is such an amazing woman, I guess I'm supposed to believe he held out as long as he could.
  16. Ina turned me on to roasting vegetables other than root ones. I think her roasted broccoli recipe is over the top with all the stuff she piles on it (Ina must not like broccoli on its own) but plain roasted broccoli is one of my favorites. I adapted her brisket recipe to use only canned tomatoes. I'm not sure if she used them in addtion to the tomato juice, or just used tomato juice. While I'm fine with canned pureed tomatoes, tomato juice makes me gag, hence the substitution. I'm not sure you could do too much to screw up brisket, but I'd never made it before. It came out faaabulous. Ironically, the only two recipes where Ina has failed me: 1. The foolproof roasted shrimp. You've met the fool that hasn't fallen in love with this technique. I made it a couple times fo cocktail and I left the tails on. I found them impossible to remove once roasted. I also didn't find the taste to be that much better so I just steam my shrimp for cocktail. I put bay leaves, peppercorns and Old Bay in the water, and I find that gives them enough flavor and I can get all the meat out of the tail. 2. Roasted chicken. I just find Ina's recipes to be sort of lacking. I've tried a couple of variations but they are never as delicious as promised.
  17. Thanks, Snaporaz! I had forgotten that actually. (I don't know how I could since they run the promo for that relentlessly during every B&B rebroadcast!). Sunday afternoons are busy for me but I just might have to find a way to set aside the half hour to catch Thursday's ep. Because I really want to see this: I loved Red Suit Brooke. I hope we're getting her back in some form or another.
  18. Is it just me or does it seem there have been less Y&R Twitter feuds since, say, December?
  19. I agree. I liked Nick and Phyllis at first because there was an element of unlikeliness in the couple themselves, and then the whole forbidden/sinful aspect of it. (Yes, it was totally wrong of Nick to that to Sharon when she was grieving, but I watch soaps for complications and drama, not to see inspirational tales of men sticking by their wives in times of crisis). I also liked the story arc of Nick and Phyllis, which included the whole Cassie/Daniel thing, and them being against each other and then as the truth came out, realize they needed to fight on the same side. That Nick decided to help Daniel at the end just grew the soft spot I have always had for the character. But when the show made them a legitimate couple, it killed it for me. They were too mismatched to be anything more than a brief torrid relationship. That's how it should have happened, and then they should have remained friends afterward because they did have a nice bantering chemistry once upon a time.
  20. I really like it here as well. I know some from The Other Place don't like the multiple threads, but I do. I appreciate having a place to discuss discreet things, instead of having all sorts of conversations going on in one thread. I got caught at work late last night and didn't get to catch the show (I watch on TVGN). Based on what you guys are saying here, I might actually go to the trouble of watching it online. The prospect of seeing Brooke look disgusted at Tool just makes me giddy. Can this really be the end? I would be beyond delighted if it was. To be fair, Tool has done this before when his sense of entitlement takes over. But it doesn't help that in this incarnation it looks as if he is mentally unbalanced as well. Word to this. I have always appreciated that Eric loves BROOKE, the way she is, flaws and all, and does not expect or even want her to change. And although she has been guilty of using him as a go-to boy when things get rough for her, I always feel ultimately like she is in his corner as well. I like their relationship.
  21. LOVE! This is how we shall refer to Ridge in my household here on out. Sadly I missed most of Caroline giving it to McToolertool, but did she even allude to this?? Because that is how it happened. I found the last scene quite comical. Eric: "I need to make a decision - who should be President of this company?" Cut to Rick, looking all groomed, suave and like ready-made presidential material. Cut to Ridge, looking like some homeless tool who wandered in to the boardroom thinking they were serving hot lunch. I laughed out loud.
  22. I'm glad Emma has apparently moved on from Norman. I love how she has insinuated herself into the Bates family, but I don't want to see her with Norman. She's too good for that.
  23. I thought they initially had chemistry. But it was very much based on the mismatch of their circumstances, and also eons ago, so Victor's condescension of Nikki just didn't rub me so wrong. Colonel Austen being on the scene and being in Nikki's corner also helped a lot with that. But now, when Nikki is supposed to have been "gentrified" for so many years now, Victor treating her the way he does just makes him a tool. I wish this show had allowed Victor to grow and change. It's like he is the same person who first met Nikki, only more wrinkled and flabby.
  24. Hee. When he starts taking after her more (and we all know he will . . . ), he'll be wearing her cool retro dresses. And a wig. Norma is so interesting. She's sympathetic and unsympathetic at the same time. And normal and weird at the same time. The way the show and Vera Farmiga is handling this character is just so skillful. I was expecting more of a Kathy Bates in Misery. This is much more compelling.
