  1. Shannon was terrible at the beginning and has not improved over time. We laughed once during this last episode.....the very last line where Gary Cole asks "So...how long are we supposed to sit here?". We've seen each ep hoping it would get better....if we finally drop it, it will be Shannon that drives us there
  2. Is it me or does it seem like it's inevitable that Tamar will go all "Bayleigh" at some point here soon? I get the feeling that her feelings just won't stay bottled up for long. One other note.... I don't recall anyone looking to team up with anyone from a "game playing" perspective (yes, they paired up for challenges, but that hardly means coordinating game play). Is it just too early?
  3. So....no Sean Spicer or Kaitlyn Jenner as was rumored for a while.... Thankfully! I wasn't ready to watch Spicer be himself....nor was I ready to see what was under ALL that makeup that Jenner wears. Now....based on last year's CBB, how many of THESE players have children that they're going to miss to the point of tears and begging to be let out...?
  4. While Bergen was nominated for a GG, I haven't read a single story predicting winners that says anything about her at all. Why wouldn't the foreign press fawn over this show like the domestic media has? I don't think anyone else on the show was nominated nor was the show itself. Wha!!!!!
  5. Like father, like son...? If you count Magnus, we know Ragnar had sons with at least 3 women. ....and if you asked me, Bjorn's current shaved head is a little too...........anglo......for me?
  6. As Bjorn leaves for perhaps the last time (for the 100th time), he pours his heart out to Torvi to show her how much he appreciated everything they had and everything she did for him over the long years of good and bad: "Thank you" Meanwhile, his alter ego Magnus is like a puppy when Bjorn shows up at King Herald's...jumping around him like he Bjorn had a pocket full of Scooby snacks. It's clear that Herald has a thing for Gunnhild but he's been good at keeping his mouth/zipper shut vs. starting trouble. ...and speaking of not starting trouble, apparently Lagertha isn't with Herald and has likely gone on a walk-about after seeing Bishop Batman get skewered right in front of her....on top of everything else that's happened to her since ruling Kattegat. I'm torn about the death of Aethelred. He seemed to have shown his support of his brother via the battle and his explanation to Judith.....but then was apparently mulling being King after his woman mentions her wanting him to lead. Judith, on the other hand, with one son lying incapacitated, decides to kill off the only other link to being able to keep living in the Big House (aside from the new baby). I would think she'd be happy to have either of her children as King.....but here we are. I thought Floki did a great job of explaining WHY they shouldn't go back and save the Evil Family.....everything was much quieter and safer since they'd left. "But they can change!". Fool me once on the Island of Misfit Vikings..... But then, here they are, travelling along and what's their reward? Rain, heavier than I can even imagine. How aren't their furs/clothes just a 100 lb wet pile they get to carry around? I'll have to see whether Buddhism had an influence on the Viking culture at some point in history. As was mentioned before, Ivar's Gas Lighting of poor Hvitserk should be just another reason he needs to bail before the Bjorn and Harald show comes to Kattegat. Overall....I thought I didn't like the episode as it went along but in retrospect, it wasn't bad.
  7. In the season pre-opener (the Bjorn Saga) they mentioned in the actor interviews that Lagertha was going to fall into a dark place mentally including cutting her hair short. If you can imagine a story line where she is devastated by the series of events leading up to now (losing Kattegat, fleeing and then demeaning herself in Wessex, having the Bishop dump her right before she gets to watch him get shish-ka-bobbed), you can see her spinning off the deep end.....but PERHAPS only to have something resurrect her back to Shield Maiden status so she can eventually go back and give Ivar the boot.....and a few other things. We all talk here about the loss of Ragnar and what he meant to the show. Lagertha is (IMHO) right up there with him as far as why we fell in love with the series. I think that killing her off would only loosen another of the strings that ties this show together while allowing her to hit rock bottom and then rise back up to greatness would be very satisfying. Lastly....mark me down for one who really enjoyed the Bishop when he was just a Christian battlefield bada@@ ...but really didn't care that the Batman Bishop version was taken out.
  8. CBS has officially stated that a 12th season of MB is not in the works at this time. Not sure what that means....but that sure sounds more solid than Diane English's prayers that it isn't.
  9. My wife and i were watching this last ep and were talking about the Lil' Blake "kidnapping" and how everyone in the show (except the Colbys) were wrapped up in it. We wondered.....where does it go from here.....and then, literally 10 minutes later, the drama was over and everyone was happy again....more or less. Then, 5 minutes later we have Jeff Colby shot on the side of the road and Steven is now missing. Talk about lurching from one story line to the next in nanoseconds.... Dynasty is terrible but it's our guilty pleasure. We look forward to the next episode if only to see what ridiculousness happens next.
  10. And just like that.....it's done. So...as the sun sets on the reboot of MB, we have to ask whether the one-and-done season was due, in part, to the idea that it is intended for half of the country but not the other half. Would we trade a more balanced approach at the weekly subjects for another season or are we ok with the idea that, when you exclude so many viewers, you end up cancelling the show? I am conflicted.
  11. Why is Magnus the real son of Ragnar? Because Ragnar is still the heartbeat behind Vikings and they need Sons of Ragnar to continue the storyline. For every son that dies, another must be created. IMHO.
  12. Absolutely true. If Ragnar did lie, then poor Athelstan raised a boy in his home (Magnus) for no reason.... What we really need is Jerry Springer to show up and resolve this.....and then move on to Kattegat to proclaim "Ivar the Boneless, you are NOT the father!".
  13. RE: Magnus. I am convinced that he IS the long lost son of Ragnar....here's why. There a scene in season 4 ep 14, back when Athelstan had Ragnar in the cage after he was initially caught where a young Magnus was introduced to Ragnar as his son. I recall Ragnar crying and he spoke to his "son" but did say that he didn't have relations with Kwenthrith. This is exactly the story that Magnus told Ubbe/Lagertha/et al....more or less. There was only Athelstan, Ragnar, Ragnar's newly found son and Alfred in the room at the time so we can safely say that Magnus was in the room.....was introduced as Ragnar's son...and was summarily dismissed by Athelstan. So....this kid IS "Magnus". The only question that remains is whether Ragnar lied about not laying with Kwenthrith.
  14. This show is our guilty pleasure. Yes, it's terribly written....yes, it's terribly acted....but it is plain and simply, stupid fun to watch. I haven't watched a whole slew of shows folks tell me to watch because I just don't have the time to.....but for some odd reason, we keep watching this one and enjoying every minute of it.... ....well, most minutes.
  15. Thank God for Murphy Brown. I don't believe that I've read about any more physical attacks on American journalists from Trump Supporters since this episode aired. They were really getting beat down there for a while....seemed like every day there was another story about an MSM reporter in America getting attacked and ending up in the hospital. SMH
  16. You'd think that Rollo would be able to offer Lagertha & Co a softer landing in France than the Bishop would in England....
  17. For those thinking Lagertha is not aging appropriately, the recap show included some shots of the coming episodes/season where she apparently cuts her hair short and starts losing her mind.....to what extent, we don't know yet. All I can say is the quick shot they had of her in a future episode made her look....very un-Lagertha like (unfortunately).
  18. I LOVE Murphy Brown! I love that she's pushing the envelope of what is true in reality and what is fake news...even if it means her making up fake news to support her point. ...am i in lock step now? SMH
  19. Alrighty then... My very first time watching BB...caught every episode and even spent time a little time watching after dark .....which was a waste and time i will never ever get back (I know... we all have to learn the hard way). THANK GOD that JC didn't make it to the F2. I cheered when he dropped in the 1st final HOH round and again when he BARELY beat out Kaycee in the 2nd round. Then I had to sweat out wondering if Kaycee would honor her F2 with Tyler....which she did...and from what I've read, Tyler has said he would have absolutely brought Kaycee with him had he won the final HOH. Time here to join EVERYONE in saying that the Sccchhwwaaaagy proposal was...... oh, what word is best to describe it.... let's go with a few: disturbing, annoying, bothersome....my thesaurus runneth over with adjectives but I think I'll land on creepy since he started out with "hey, while you've been in seclusion, I've been hanging out with your family constantly to win them over". Note that when he first came over to Bay, he said something about them loving each other forever and she did one of her Eye Roll Maximus acts including swinging her head over to the other HGs as if to say "yea, as if". With her being secluded, I wouldn't think she could have known what was coming next..... and it was clear that she had no choice but to say Yes on national TV (although the alternative would have been hilarious) HOW MANY PEOPLE here think that CBS knew that the proposal was going to happen? The Chenbot was clearly scrambling to get the votes read and the America's Fav HG announced. I am one who thinks that the Scccchhwaaagstser sprung this on them figuring there's no way TPTB would try and stop it mid proposal. The "Jury questions" were so canned by TPTB to be laughable. The last 2 questions were "Why do you deserve to win" followed immediately by the Chenbot asking them each "Tell us why you deserve to win". Seriously? I said before that if JC won, this would be the first and last season of BB I'd watch. In the end, thankfully the right 2 were left standing and the vote was as close as it gets. Note that Hayleigh mentioned that she only decided on her vote after the final speeches and she voted for Tyler so it would have been 6-3 other wise. Fortunately or unfortunately, I will be watching Celebrity BB and next season. Until then.... PEACE!
  20. Am I the only one who thinks Joan Collins didn't die... that it was just a dream/vision?
  21. FIRST TIME BB Watcher here (I did faithfully watch every episode this season)...so hopefully mine is a somewhat unique perspective not prejudiced by previous seasons: I look back on the 1st eps this year...when Steve was the odd man and Sam was a robot... I don't think I would have ever guessed that Kaycee or JC would still be around. Similar to other reality shows (i.e. survivor), the big personalities (i.e. Schwaggy) and the loony tunes (Rachel) get booted quickly and the ones that stay quiet, don't piss anyone off and keep their game on the DL tend to make it to the end (Kaycee). That said... Tyler seems to have played hard when he needed to and backed off when it was appropriate. I fully expected all his F2 deals to backfire as each was sent packing....and it still might with both Brett and Sam now seeing Tyler as the playa and not the player. If it were up to me, Tyler would win. Whether editing or for real, Kaycee disappeared for...what....a month? Now that she's won a crapload of comps, was she sandbagging? Either awesome gameplay or just how stuff played out. Maybe it's me (white male), but Sam's "rosie the riveter" style and her squeaky southern drawl were quite sexy (cue groans). Early on I thought Brett was a total d_ck....the way he played pretty much everyone based on what he needed at that moment (i.e. Rockstar). In the last few weeks though, I relaxed and found him to be absolutely hilarious. Brett is apparently Brett....and once you get past his Bro-ness and accept that, he's alright. I could see having beers and laughs with him for sure. JC... ugh.... aside from the controversy(s), he never ever came across as nice, honest, trustworthy, relatable, empathetic or a decent player. They should have kept Sam.....now look at what happened. If he wins, I will have to say that one season of BB was enough for me. Who should win? If Angela is the next one out, it leaves JC, KC and Tyler. Lots of talk here about the hive voting for JC if he's in the F2. Is that because they like JC or don't like the remaining L6 members? Either way, JC would be, by far, the least deserving of these last 3 to win. I hope it comes down to Kaycee and Tyler. They've both played a strong game, especially in the last month. My opinion is that Tyler played hard from the beginning, navigating between a dozen people to get where he is. Sorry for the lengthy post.... but I've had a lot on my mind watching these past 90 days and it was just time to spill!
  22. Absolutely on the "red flags". If they start with 20 possible contestants and wean them to the 10 that go, I'd hate to be #11 and watch someone tap out in the first week because they miss "xx". Being "ALONE" is why this show is different than any other. Aside from that, the "first tappers" are usually interesting in that they planned and prepped and planned and prepped....and then quit. If it was safety (like the teacher in either S2 or 3 who had bear visits at night) that's completely different than someone who got cold and tired and decided to quit. I agree that do-nothings are boring....but it's definitely a strategy to win (i.e. Sam). What the show doesn't show is what they DO do to collect food or build their shelter or just pass the time. Watching Sam in his first season sit in that crappy tent with the storm blowing every day WAS terrible tv....but his hunting for mice explained how he was able to last as long as he did. Has anyone heard ANYTHING about Season 6?
  23. Let's start by saying that this is my absolute favorite reality show of all time. I've seen every episode of every season including the pre and post shows. It is beyond unique in it's format...there is no other show that comes close to it for pushing a human's ability to survive. That said, i fully agree that it would be great to actually see them push to survive a year but there's simply no way that they could make money on a show that could be waiting months for the last one(s) to tap out.....and it might not be exactly riveting television either. I think that if they stick with 10 participants, they should expand the season to 15+ episodes so we can see way more of how each person's first few days went. How did they determine their location, shelter type, food sources, dealing with the weather, animals, etc....? Either don't allow food stores to be one of the 10 items or give all of them just enough rations to last a couple of days. Bottom line: I just want MORE. The idea that we don't see some contestants for 7-10 "game" days at a time makes me wonder what they did that whole time. I'd like to see the med visits to see how those go (other than at the very end). I'd like to see any of the immediate post tap footage. What did they give them to eat first? What medical treatment did they give them right away? Did the contestants immediately regret their decision to tap out? I think the limitation of 10 episodes and a cost conscious network will keep any of this from happening....

    S05.E10: Cold War

I've been posting since season 2 that it's those that come in with an extra 60+lbs to lose that are the ones most likely to win. 5 seasons, 6 heavier set men won (including the doofus Bros last year). Being that you can't keep people from gaining weight before the show launches, I completely agree about the idea of dropping rations as one of their 10 items available to take with them. Keep in mind that if this were the case in a place devoid of much other food like Mongolia, that the season would have wrapped up 2 weeks earlier. I think they should go back to VI or someplace like it where you can scrounge limpets and seaweed for days. Make it a "wait out" instead of a "weight out" (yea, I just came up with that one).
