Where Did My Van Gough?; The Two Al-EXES

    New, Season 10, Episode 125

    Where Did My Van Gough?”

(Taryn Blackburn vs. Amanda Going and Shane Gough)

From the show site: A mother and her sons were road-tripping to a family reunion when a deer in the road destroyed their van. A local mom and pop repair shop promised to fix it, and even offered to deliver the van to her a state away. But she claims they fell short on that promise, and now she wants a refund and travel reimbursement. Is she asking too much?

Plaintiff/driver suing defendants/car repair place for not meeting her standards repairing her van after an assault by a marauding deer, and delivering the finished van to her in the next state.  Plaintiff wants a full refund, and travel reimbursement, a total of $3850 with travel costs.

Defendants were evicted from the shop/home a week or so after the accident.   They finished most of the repairs, there were more damages than it looked like there would be, and body work wes very extensive.   Plaintiff cliams she just wanted drivable, and she did pick up the van from plaintiffs, at a mutual meeting point.   Then, plaintiff claims the van broke down after she picked it up, for $1600.

Corriero wants to give her $1600 for the radiator, and travel expenses.

Juarez and Tewolde say $1600 and that's all.

    Plaintiff receives $1600.

    The Two Al-ELES

(Alexandra Conrad  vs. Alexandro "A.J." Contreras )

From the show site: Ex-partners Alexandra and Alexandro come to court over shared credit card debt. He promised in a text to repay her for auto repair charges - but now he claims he "paid his dues" over the course of the relationship. What made him change his tune?

Plaintiff suing defendant/ex-live in for unpaid auto repair charges on a credit card.  She also paid for his cell phone on her account.  She wants $5,000, half of the balance on a joint credit card bill.

She agreed to the car repairs, but found out defendant was using the credit card for other purchases, and repaid nothing.   Defendant says that they were building a life together, and bills weren't his to pay.  FIrst car charge was $3,000.    Juarez missed the point, the litigants agreed on the car repair, and defendant said he would repay it, but he didn't.  The other charges were without her knowledge.

Plaintiff receives $5,000 for the car repair, and expenses charged after they broke up on her credit card.

Forging Ahead” (I missed this last time, the case sounds interesting from the show summary).

    Rerun, Season 10, Episode 2

(Anthony Galasi vs.  Daudi Salim Turner)

From the show site: A formerly incarcerated man finds himself back in hot water when a friend he gave power of attorney to cashed checks in his name.

Plaintiffs are suing former friend/defendant for cashing defendant's settlement checks in plaintiff's name, so now plaintiff is in legal trouble, he's suing for $5,000  . Defendant Turner is claimed to have promised to register the plaintiff's truck, rolled   The litigants met in custody in San Francisco.   Janette Brussil, is plaintiff's girlfriend and witness, and says Mr. Turner was hard to get in contact with.

Defendant says he negotiated the vehicle price down for a certified used, and seller lied, and was going to fix truck and pay plaintiff $7700 in a settlement.  He also says that he had a limited POA to do the car registration.   However, plaintiff says the POA was limited, and didn't allow defendant to cash the settlement check.  Defendant also docu-signed the agreements in plaintiff's name, and didn't tell people he dealt with that he was Turner, not Galasi. Defendant also sent emails using plaintiff's name, and representing himself as plaintiff.

Defendant presents the POA.  Witness also says while plaintiff was incarcerated that defendant kept the truck away from plaintiff and witness, and Turner claims it cost him $7900 in travel costs to register and take truck to Texas.  Turner also spent 3 weeks in a motel, and wants plaintiffs to pay him for that.

Juarez has issues with plaintiff's credibility, and the POA.  Tewolde says both litigants are credible, and that plaintiff didn't understand exactly what the POA covered. Tewolde wants to give $2500 gas, $500 for his own trouble, and hotel costs $250, and other fees, a total of $4450.

Plaintiff receives $7700, minus gas and hotel for the Texas trip, so he gets $4450 after expenses for defendant.

  2. Nothing good ever happens at the barber shop, and this episode proved that with Kobe's session at the barber shop.

Jasmine's crying session was the worst acting I've seen since the last World Cup flopping compilation.    She goes from sobbing to no visible tears, or any other signs she was crying.

  3. I agree with the overcrowded seating spaces.   They don't have bedrooms for enough people to justify the huge amount of seating space, especially the back patio and dock areas. I suspect these will all end up vacation rentals, and there isn't enough space for a big family or singles group.   I'm guessing after the contest the furnishings were striped away, and whoever buys the homes will put a ton of sleeping areas in everywhere they can.

I decided several seasons ago that the producers pick a winner that needs the most publicity for their show, and after the last season of the twins show, I figured they would win.    The real test is what house sells the quickest and for the most money.

Also, the house is three stories, and apparently currently only two bedrooms, so why did Leslie and Lyndsay's house need a laundry room on each level?

  4. For last week Rochelle was the right person to go.  But I really can't believe they picked Kate as the winner, that purple wreath wasn't a winner in my opinion.

This week, Mint Julep flavored eclairs?  Ick.   I went to the 100th Derby, and everyone who tried the Juleps hated them.     I don't like any of the flavor profiles for the preheat.  I love the judges in the hats.    Kate's eclairs don't look good at all, and only Nancy gets the booze flavor. .   Nicky's look cute. Alex's are adorable, and taste great.   Steven's look adorable.   Robert's are cute.  Nicky wins this round.

Main round carrot desserts, but no carrot cakes.   Alex's dessert Charlotte is spectacular!   Robert's looks sort of abstract, Nancy says it's too salty and broken. Kate's Nanaimo Bar looks OK, but it only has one minor baked part.   Steven's looks amazing, and the judges love the taste. Nicky's looks good.

Winner is:  Steven.    Kate and Robert are the bottom two.   Kate goes home.

Next week four go to the semi-finals.

    Jewel Citizenship

    New, Season 10, Episode

(Arianna Fryslie vs. Jean Carlo Gutierrez)

From the show site: A jewelry artist was arrested after a domestic dispute on the Fourth of July. She claims her ex-boyfriend refused to hand over her artwork while she was in jail and believes he is retaining it in his trailer. But how can she prove that when a restraining order prevents her from going there to see for herself?

Plaintiff suing defendant/ex-boyfriend  for return of her artwork supplies, tools and  jewelry.   Defendant has a restraining order against plaintiff, so she can't go on his property and search his home for the artwork.  When plaintiff was in the lock up, she wanted her mother to get her jewelry / artwork from defendant.    She wants jewelry, artwork, and all of her tools and supplies.  Plaintiff's mother Gail Reynolds,  testifies that she only got a couple of backpacks, some clothes, a few boxes, and other items but no paintings, supplies, jewelry, etc.

Defendant denies any of the artwork were in his trailer.  He claims he packed up everything from the trailer and left it on a bench outside for the mother to pick up.  (Interesting eye makeup on plaintiff).

Photo of defendants trailer rooms shows no paintiings, and nowhere to hide the paintings, artwork, or anything else.   Defendant did find some shoes later, and few beads and wire, and he returned that to the plaintiff's mother.

Plaintiff submits receipts, one says August, but that's when she was in jail, not shopping.   Plaintiff claims her paintings are very valuable, and so is the beaded jewelry she makes (look like imitation turquoise and other jewelry, and look like the cheap stuff that you buy predone, and string).

Then, plaintiff says the receipt for pillows is actually for another pillow.

I believe nothing plaintiff or her mother testified to.

Defendant says the photos of artwork are actually of paintings that were in her mother's house.

The judges have totally given up figuring out who is the liar.

Corriero believes plaintiff about the canvases, and wants to give plaintiff $1,000.   Tewolde says throw out plaintiff case, and so does Juarez.

    Plaintiff case dismissed.

Are these homes for purchase with permanent families living there, or are they rental homes? Because I don’t get needing a music, craft, meditation or media room if you’re just renting for a week.

My personal view is the homes are going to be vacation rentals.

  8. "Some Like It Hot"

New, 4/14/2024, From Titan TV: A New Jersey couple, who have never had a dining or laundry room before, relocates to Laurel for the small-town vibes, where Ben and Erin present them with two options with plenty of space for everything on their wish list.

(I love when someone moves from a super high cost of living area, and can get exactly what they've always dreamed of, like a dining room, and laundry room.   Like the two men who moved from Jersey City, and have that lovely home in Laurel, the artist partner was featured on an episode this season).

Tena & Bob Tomarrazzo, they are such a fun couple.   He's third generation U.S.    (It's over 100 degrees in Laurel all week, so everyone is sweaty and uncomfortable, especially Ben).

Wishlist-They want to stay under $300,000.   Dining room, and laundry room, plus a walk in pantry.  She wants a rustic Italian kitchen.

House 1-Van Zandt House, totally covered by hedges in front. 3 bed 2 bath 2100 sq ft, $180,000.    Ben and Erin want to move the kitchen to the dining room, and a big walkin pantry, move dining to living room.  Utility room will become the laundry room, and den will betransformed, and current side entry will become a mudroom / pantry.  $180,000 purchase, $120,000 reno, so $300,000 total.

House 2-Watson House-4 bed 2bath 2000 sq ft $190,000.  Screened porch for Tena.  (It's 104 degrees in Laurel, and central air in this house).   Kitchen will be transformed (Tena's shirt matches the wall paper in the kitchen) with added cabines, and island, turn den into dining room, with cased opening to living room.  Living room is big, but will be opened to dining/kitchen, and den.   Back yard-screened porch added for Tena.  Erin wants to turn glassed in porch to screened in.  Renos $110,000 so $300,000 total.

(Ben and Erin take them to community Bingo, Bob gets a Bingo).

They buy #1.  Hopefully they get the power turned on since it's 105 degrees, but power isn't on yet so since it's the hottest August ever in Laurel, everyone is suffering.   Their only relief from the heat is battery operated fans.   Carpet is brand new, so Erin will keep it for use in another house.  Ben whacks the sheetrock with his butt.   (I suspect since we didn't see bedrooms or bath, those spaces will wait for later, except for maybe paint).

Ben is building a huge island with electric outlets, cutting board storage in the island, roling pin and mallet storage, 10 feet long, 40" wide.   Josh brings up a great point, about how to get the island into the kitchen, since it's 40" and outer doors are only 36".    Ben will construct the island into the house in parts, and assemble it on site.    It's 106 degrees, and everyone is suffering.   Mr. Stubbs the cabinet maker loves the island idea.   There will be the island, 21' of lower cabinets, laudry room cabinets, and built in pantries at each end of the laundry room.  Lohn from the crew went to get popsicles for everyone.  Bekye Fargason, artist, is doing a decorative paint (she did the fountain in the garden room at the potter's house) for patterns on the back splash.  There are four tile designs, and the paint for the pattern on the tiles will be the color of the walls.     The den built-in bookcases will have aches at the top, with a dressed up skeleton behind it, Ben's idea of course.    Ben, Helen, Mae and Erin have a water balloon fight, it looks so refreshing.  Removing tons of landscaping transforms the front yard.  Two of awful Bradford pear trees will have to go, two stay, and the Sago palms will go (poisonous to dogs).

I love the kitchen backsplash tiles.  Tena and Bob love their new home, and I'm so happy for them.  House looks so different with the changed landscaping on the house, and the inside is just as lovely.  The den/living room with the built-ins is fantastic, and the dining and kitchen are exactly what the couple wanted, and so beautiful.  Also, the laundry room/ pantry is spectacular.  The island Ben built is fantastic.  Total price of house was $290,000.

Dance, cheer, prom. I can see a huge number of consumers. It’s so not my thing (also because I have no hair in which to put said gems), but I can see a lot of people who really would like it.

As the sellers said, one of the Williams sisters wore hair gems, and their business had a huge sales increase overnight.      Since they own the kid version and the adult rights again, they'll make a bundle.   This could turn into a huge beauty fad too.    I can see wedding parties, prom, dance competitions, pageant participants, and people who just want bling doing this.   I bet some will even use the gems on hands the way Mark did.

The great thing is you'll have to buy a ton of refill cartridges for the device too.   A guaranteed customer repurchase of the cartridges will happen.  Or a whole new device.  I didn't notice if the device can be refilled or if you have to purchase them again with a new supply of gems.

  10. The house might have radiant heat too.   I'm sure the bathroom floors do, plus heated towel racks.     I guess Kathy didn't want a Heritage or Vintage house, and wanted the open floor plan.   She did have that on her wishlist, but of course that was tailored to what she already owned.

Kathy wanted to be close to her family, and her friends, and I love she stayed in the area she loves.

Sorsoap is the name, as in Sore Soap.  They have it on Amazon as well as their website.

As far as I can tell, VSeat is only sold on their own website.

  13. Gold Lady of Lake Mendota"

    New,  4/12/2024

From IMDB: The incredible story of a Wisconsin woman who didn’t win the lottery but made a savvy investment that paid off big time – to the tune of eight figures!  With the largest budget he’s ever been given, host David is on a mission to find the ultimate lakefront mega-mansion for this fortunate homeowner. From breathtaking views to luxurious amenities, David is determined to help her find the perfect dream home that reflects her newfound wealth and lifestyle.  (Is this the largest budget compared to the couple who bought a mountain top estate in season 1?)

Kathy and sister Peg tour homes on Lake Mendota, in Madison, Wisconsin.   Kathy managed her investments in a biotech company, and has a budget of $3 to $4 million, and up to $6 million for the right home.

Wishlist-Kathy wants to be on Lake Mendota, great view, 5,000 sq ft or more, so officially a mansion, lots of bedrooms and bathrooms. Open floor plan living area.  Lots of land.   (Kathy is considering a place in Florida, and shopping with David).

House 1-Blackwolf Bay - 3 bed, 4 bath, 5000 sq ft, $2.5 million on 1/2 acre.  Very modern Beautiful living area, huge kitchen with induction cooktop.  Guest bedroom has a balcony, and great view.  Primary bedroom is even bigger, and a putting green on the balcony.   Ensuite and closet are gigantic.   Pool table, guest bathroom with a speaking toilet (Kohler).  The back yard has a chessborad, boathouse that's a playroom.  Dock and boat lift.   Kathy wants more property.  (However, I want to move into the primary suite and never leave).

House 2-Thornberry Bay -4 bed, 5 bath, 7400 sq ft, $4.25 million. Fantastic front drive and garages, gigantic two story entry, living, decks and balconies, David's right, it looks like an upscale mall.  Kitchen is gigantic.  Stairs are curving, two guest bedrooms on the second floor, with the huge primary with windows on three sides.   Balcony /deck is overhanging the lake.

House 3-Whistling Wake -4 bed, 8 bath, 6300 sq ft, $5.2 million. Sauna, pickleball court (not included in the sq ft). 4 car garage, plus another garage attached.  Fantastic living/dining/kitchen with the most wonderful view.  Kitchen has touchless everything, 4 ovens, humongous stove, on the third floor.  Main bedroom is ont ehfourth floor, with a huge closet, and ensuite.   Guest bedrooms all have ensuites, and great views, with an elevator.  second floor is a rec room with a gym, sauna , and steam room and pickleball indoor court, locker room, kitchenette, sports bar, another bath.   Plus, a huge hot tub/spa, boat house.    If she doesn't buy this one I'll be so sad.

She buys # 3.  This was such an amazing episode.  Kathy invites David to come and play pickleball at the house.   I love that Kathy has so many friends and relatives that will enjoy the house too.   And I love she invited David to come up and visit.

Yes she did.   She said He talked to her in a dream about creating the product.

Product is just quirky enough to sell thousands.    I can see dancers, pageant kids, prom and other events, and just someone who likes sparkle getting this.   I bet being on the show was a huge sales surge for them.   Sounds like with a little bit of organization, she'll be a great success.

They want more staff, and inventory support, and marketing.    Kevin says to find someone who takes over their operations, and he's out.   Mark is out.  Robert is out.   Lori is out.

    Contracting Conundrum

    New,  Season 10, Episode

(Rodney and Jessie Bruce vs. Debra Shelton-Love)

From the show site: After hitting it off on a cruise to Greece, a property owner hired a handyman to bring her inherited illegal unit up to code. She claims he represented himself as a licensed contractor, which she desperately needed for the project. But he refutes that. Now he's demanding to be paid for his work

Plaintiff /handyman suing defendant /homeowner met on a cruise to Greece.   Defendant and handyman developed a relationship, and she became friends with the plaintiff's wife.  Defendant wife claimed they renovate halfway houses, but claims defendant was told he's not a licensed contractor.    Each side is suing for $5,000.  Plaintiff claims defendant never paid him.      There is another $900 job estimated for $900, and Rodney says he did some of the work, but defendant interrupted him.

Rodney claims he was supposed to demo a garage on her property, remove all drywall, and garage door, and convert it to an ADU, but he claims he was never paid all of the money, $965, only $900.The garage to ADU was illegal to convert, since there wasn't a licensed contractor on the job.   When the city found out the lack of permits and contractor's license, then defendant had to go to court.

There are a variety of properties plaintiff worked on, and he has receipts for thousands of dollars in materials defendant didn't pay for.   However, defendant already planning to have her cousin, another handyman do the work for her too.

Defendant brought very little proof of anything.

Plaintiff will get what he has proof for, and what can be done by an unlicensed contractor, $3000

  19. I'm watching the Supersized episode, and those biscuits look delicious.

Her mother does say that she's at the end of her rope, and can't support Shakyia eating herself to death any longer, and that her daughter is an adult and she can't do anything but offer to diet with her.    Bonus scene was kind of pointless, and added nothing.

So, month 1-655 (she expected mid 500's).  The sister's pink top is a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen, I'm guessing sister didn't realize how stretchy that top was.  I had high hopes for her after this visit. Then, she never contacted Dr. Now in 5 months.

Month 7-Office finally contacts Shakyia, this is when she spins her story about being in hospice after her family threw her out.  Amazing how the headboard on the hospice bed, and the exterior of the hospice looks exactly like the extended stay hotel she stays in for the rest of the show.

Amazing her headboard and motel exterior are the same as her 'hospice' bed.  The bandage on her leg scares me.  Infection can be so bad.

Month 10-same motel, same decor, same headboard, and exterior is the same.

Month 11-same as month 7 through 10. This is where Dr. Now tells her not to move to Houston, and will set up her visit to the clinic in Charlotte. She might want to stick that bottle of Ranch dressing in the fridge.  Down to 643, so 12 lbs in a year.   Dr. Now lays it on the line about her lack of progress, and that she should have lost 300 lbs, not 12.   It's so sad seeing her final visit to the clinic for a weigh in Year 1 and month 1. She did lose 8 more lbs. but that's not even a decent effort.

    1 year and 4 months-Nothing changed.

She never did therapy, lost virtually no weight, and sabotaged her chance to change her life and health.    I really had hopes for her at the beginning, but Dr. Now can't help someone who won't help themselves.

The episode description just mentioned her mom bailing on her (which after hearing her back story wasn't surprising; she didn't sound like the most reliable parent), so I was surprised that everyone else seemed to as well. The exact wording was "she'll be in for a shock when her mom decides that caring for her is just too much." But we didn't even see that, just jumped to her being on her own in a hotel.

I knew it was going nowhere when they showed us the entire trip to Houston. Way too much time filled with that (not sure what time they started the trip, but it wasn't too long into the episode, and it was almost an hour in before they actually got there). They obviously didn't have much else to use.

I will assume someone else will watch and post if there is anything worth sharing. (I don't watch the supersize episodes, anyway. I have better things to watch on Thursday.)

I'm going to watch the Supersized edition tonight.    Not much else on Thursday nights.   Hoping there are bonus scenes that explain a few things.
