  1. Yeah Aslaug has her share of fault but originally Ragnar knew Aslaug was pregnant (after all she told him) and he left her behind and he would have never told it to Lagertha if it wasn't for little Björn (bless him!) telling his mother. And to me I don't think Ragnar was willing to be stolen, he was willing to have his cake and eat it by wanting both women, and it didn't go the way he hope. Of course no one can forget how things happened. But Lagertha looks like she is in a better place. If she wasn't, I doubt she would have agreed to that threesome, after all she is the one who left Ragnar when he humiliated her.
  2. To the contrary I found it funny and high five to Lagertha. As you see in the scene, it's Aslaug in the middle. In that position, it looks like she has been shared by Lagertha and Ragnar, the two equally powerful people (or at least it was before Ragnar officially took the King's Sword). Lagertha is a fierce woman who fights and rules like a man. Of course she can probably have all the men at her feet (and hopefully the good ones if there are any in the future) but she may also not want any and be on her own, which is also understandable, after all what happened. When she was still married to Ragnar, had she been sharing him with Aslaug back then, it would have meant to also share the power in Kattegat, it would have meant she has actually no power hands on her own destiny, only the shieldmaiden wife of Ragnar, it's also a reason of why she left (cf "you insult me, you humiliate me"). Lagertha now is in a league of her own as a powerful Earl, so she has no problem sharing Aslaug's husband for fun, the roles are reversed. Ragnar is Aslaug's husband and she is sharing him with another powerful person. Lagertha and Ragnar have history, and they are at peace with it, so eh, let's have fun with the stupid husband who has been longing for that threesome. And Aslaug, attracted to power, claimed Earl Ragnar when he got her pregnant. She wasn't caring for Lagertha back then since she wanted her place next to Ragnar, but now she has a new found crush on Lagertha ever since she came back to help them with the Borg situation. Now she sees Lagertha as that powerful woman and respected Earl so it's enticing and exciting enough to hop in bed with two powerful people. Had Lagertha still been Ragnar's wife back then, no way the situation would have been bearable, Aslaug would have pushed Lagertha to the secondary position by playing the royalty card ("I'm a Princess, I have your sons, she is only a shieldmaiden"). Things are different now, Aslaug knows Ragnar would never leave his sons thus never leave her (or at least until further notice), and Lagertha has moved on to better things like raiding and ruling than rushing back to an ex husband... and Ragnar who is no saint, could have hopped in bed with any other woman no matter how much Aslaug wouldn't have liked it, he still wanted to have sex with Lagertha. An ex husband who still wants you and the new wife who also desires you? Yep, more power to Lagertha.
  3. Thank you friend, thank you for the horn of wine.... *wipes tears off face*
  4. I'm still mourning over the end of Season 2 and even more so to wait 10 months.... that's all I got. I need time to heal.
  5. Well look at the silver lining : .if Lagertha hadn't left Ragnar she wouldn't have had the opportunity to be the even more formidable woman she became... so yeah she can give a high five to Aslaug saying "You do you girl, have them more sons, I'm doing fine with my badass eldest Björn and my powerful position... Bye!"
  6. Green good post. However Floki not keeping a secret, it all depends on the situation. He was in the secret master plan to raid West in season 1 and built the ship for Ragnar all that in secret. I think he is now upset with Ragnar because their paths seem different, but regarding the secrecy, he can hold it just like he can spill it.
  7. What I understood by "forced" is Aslaug meant that Ragnar would not listen and ignore her prophecy and sleep with her as per usual. When Ragnar came back from Wessex and started stroking her hair, she started talking about the 3 days no sex or something might happen, but Ragnar brushed it off saying "no more prophecy, I want feel the heat of it", it's like his thirst for sex was greater than any other reason so they had sex before those 3 days have passed. Aslaug then seemed to follow the prophecy. Either way, something would have happened, she just didn't know what specifically. Had she known that something would happen to the baby, she probably would have stopped it, knowing that Ragnar wants healthy children. She knew about Sigurd but the snake eye isn't a handicap per se. I also have a problem with Aslaug selective visions. Like she can see about Sigurd but she can't see when Borg would attack them and try to harm her sons. And suddenly she cann see something happening if they have sex... I mean what??
  8. Haha I get that but imo it's Ragnar who ultimately destroyed his first family. Aslaug is able to give Ragnar children when Lagertha can't anymore, their trip to Upsalla enlightened that issue very clearly when they adressed their respective prayers to the Gods. Lagertha doesn't blame Aslaug but I think she was taken aback when Aslaug waltzed in Kattegat pregnant with no regard for her family. Lagertha actually tried by tolerating Aslaug's presence despite Ragnar cheating on her, trying to engage a civil conversation with Aslaug. The situation seemed somewhat bearable to Lagertha right until Ragnar talked about the polygamy thing without consulting her first (since they were supposed to be a partnership) and thought he could get her to accept Aslaug as a sister-wife (Aslaug the way she showed up it was pretty clear that she was there to stay so her agreeing to Ragnar's idea was no surprise). And he tried to guilt trip her with the whole BS "Gods answered my prayers" instead of being honest that he just wanted both women. Lagertha was not fooled so she called it quits. It wasn't about his cheating, it was about how he treated her in the aftermath, which was absolutely insulting. At that moment, Ragnar loved himself more than anyone else. Ragnar made all the choices that led to Lagertha leaving, and Aslaug could've never forced him to wife her if Ragnar didn't really want to. But since he wanted his legacy, more sons and on top of it that royal lineage being too enticing...
  9. It was about over a good year since time has passed (when one counts Aslaug last pregnancy and so forth) and so far, Athelstan was nothing but an asset for King Ecbert, he was all about his curiosity of Pagan culture, and that's about where he and Ragnar are very similar, they look beyond borders and are intelligent. However Athelstan was never seen interacting with King Ecbert other than being a priest at his service. Him sending a threat to Ragnar was also a threat to Athelstan since he came from their world and had embraced their culture, wearing a priest outfit didn't wash it away even after a year. Ecbert is no fool, plenty of times he interacted with Athelstan he was testing him, and one could see how Athelstan was carefully choosing his words before giving an answer. Athelstan was dear to King Ecbert because he was the key to other cultures and such, but he never really was free, he was rather held captive into King Ecbert's dungeon, add to that struggling with his inner faith demons. Athelstan was dear to Ragnar even more so as a friend (albeit in season one, the circumstances of their encounter is rather messed up to me, like what the heck?) and he was walking around Kattegat as a free man like one of theirs, apart from Floki who can't accept him (for understandable reasons). So Athelstan leaving King Ecbert to go back to Kattegat made sense. Ecbert felt the loss a trophy servant who could read him bedtime stories about Rome, religion and other Gods more than a friend. And his son would have never forced him, it's bloody King Ecbert LOL... I mean he ultimately knew that Athelstan was the only person left who could approach the Vikings to negociate after that battle, he was more worried to lose a key asset than anything else. But he had to do so since Athelstan was the only option left for a truce negociation, anybody else sent over would have been killed before they passed the Vikings camp gates. We shall agree to disagree :-)
  10. I think so far King Ecbert was using Athelstan only to know about the Pagan culture and self-serving intentions, no matter how much he said he trusted Athlestan, he didn't care for him and would dispose of him in the blink of an eye (His threatening tone "Whatever happens, I will not be defeated"). Yes Ragnar also used Athelstan for his personal agenda, but he and Athlestan have actually grown to become friends and respect each other to an extend. He kept asking for him even back in Kattegat while resolving the conflict with Borg. And Ragnar giving him his bracelet and genuinely saying he hoped their Gods would become friends one day only sealed the deal on how much he cared about him and not just for practical reasons. Athlestan also was a free man in Kattegat whereas he would have remained a prisoner disguised as a priest for Ecbert. To me his decision to go back where he felt free and "belonged" made sense.
  11. I don't think Aslaug is plotting anything (or as of yet) but I think her setting the slave girl free felt really awkward. You can see she is struggling to feel as loved and respected and be seen as part of Kattegat other than being Ragnar's wife, and so far they still look up to Lagertha, Porunn only confirmed it by wanting to be a strong woman, not just a fab trophy girlfriend. To me at the end of the episode when Aslaug told Björn she freed her, it felt more like she was trying to get the slave girl to be liked rather than out of a natural kindness regardless of her being Björn's love...
  12. Ragnar likes Athelstan for practical and personal reasons indeed. I think with Athelstan he levels up on a deep philosophical level, the approach of different cultures, religions and visions... Athelstan is literally a big change from his usual pagan world. He was in anchor in terms of intelligent thoughts, not just politics. I mean I'm African, and if in my village I had a foreigner coming up, I would be fascinated to know about a different world and had the foreigner left, I'd feel a bit lost too. So I get Ragnar excitement to see him again.
  13. Hahahaaaaaaaa! It's funny 3 days ago on YouTube I've watched an interview of Travis Fimmel, he was on a LA Good Morning show, he shamelessly flirted with the anchor girl, it was awkward hilarious. I'd love to hang out with the chap. He seems very quiet/bored in interviews but I'm sure he is something else after a few beers.
  14. Ragnar's situation with Aslaug/Lagertha will never not be funny, he is so powerless and it's regress to a little boy whenever Lagertha is around and then he tries to get his ego back a bit whenever he interacts with Aslaug. Man, indeed the Gods are toying with him and I enjoy it, he can't have a smart hand on everything haha! King Horik is one hell of a turncoat. He doesn't care about anyone getting slaughtered as long as he has his interests protected. Must be nice to have everyone doing the dirty job for you once you sit on the throne eh... Siggy's a$$ must go. Immediately. End of.
