  1. Yes, just ask Richard Hatch, Survivor season 1. From Wikipedia: Hatch was convicted also on January 25, 2006, by jury with two counts of attempted tax evasion and one count of signing a fraudulent tax return for not paying taxes on about $1.4 million: his past Survivor winnings, his $321,000 earnings as a co-host of a Boston radio show, and $28,000 rental property.[36][37][38] According to investigation, he hired two different accountants in 2001 and 2002 to prepare his tax returns that would have reflected his Survivor winnings. Rather than file either return, he filed a return that did not reflect the winnings.[39] He pleaded guilty to two of those counts before the conviction.[40] He served 51-month sentence in federal prison, particularly Federal Correctional Institution, Morgantown,[1] and his release was under three-year supervision.[37]
  2. I thought they read the clue as seeing "each team member" had to pick up a set of balloons. Therefore both should have carried 3 sets, one of each color.
  3. My strategy in picking a team to go all the way this time was to look at the size of the backpacks. The smaller, the more organized and understanding of the rigors of the race. We'll see if my theory pans out.
  4. Really needed to see this episode to become interested after the first episode. Almost want to re-watch E1 to remind me what happened. Kind of hate flashbacks for this reason -- no reason to remember much from the first episode without the context of the second. I'm having no problem with NK's appearance, other than occasional amazement at how tall she is compared to a co-star. Curious why Hilary is cold to her.
  5. Or that the pollution had to be in everyone's drinking water for the lab to obtain it. Couldn't they have found a way to collect the runoff before it reached the drinking water? I wasn't necessarily disappointed with the season, giving up on the mystery though fairly soon and just enjoying Jodie Foster's acting and the scenery. During the last episode, however, I did comment that I did not care whether any of the characters lived. It had just gone on too long.
  6. And why was it assumed that if the Ukrainian daughter had gone exploring through the vents, that she had absolutely seen the murder? She could have been anywhere on the boat, or even not in the vents at that time. Isn't Rufus the only one who knows that Imogene smashed the watch and deleted the security footage? If so, then why didn't the Interpol lady gasp when Leila said she saw Imogene doing that from the bar cart? And what about the link between Leila and whoever got the governor to order drinks to that cabin? And all those people climbed down the stairs into the bowels of the ship? Does anyone work down there? Seems to be empty, therefore maybe the family could have spread out a bit. I'd think that the parents would have kept their daughter from exploring considering their supposed dire situation. Just watching now to find out who did it, while enjoying clothing and ship porn.
  7. The show made a point of pointing out that the only time a VP was picked from the opposing party was Lincoln picking Johnson "and you know how that turned out" was the rejoinder (Johnson was impeached).
  8. Completely missed the "stealing from them" part. I'm guessing then that is how he got her to help him with the investigation?
  9. Well, I detected Frankenstein, not necessarily Phil Hartman's rendition. The monster who must be taught how to be civilized, and also who is kind to the little girl.
  10. There was an advertisement for a conference regarding dolls.
  11. I worried about the same thing, but then thought I saw a second trapeze set-up. Weren't the slips for one-two-three at the Space Needle, not the trapeze?
  12. Right. It was the only boat around, moored, but nobody fishing or swimming from it. They should have been able to see it.
  13. Someone above stated that one does sophisticated math to be a software engineer, but my memory (albeit from the 80s) is my computer programming professor pointing out that programming is really logic, not math (despite our high school guidance counselors asking about our math grades if we were interested in programming). A computer engineer (such as my brother at Intel) would need math skills, because that has to do with the hardware, not software. Like the horse-bike detour, this roadblock seemed to also be to bring racers to one of the iconic castles rather than being about the task to be performed there. Remember, that beyond being a race, this is to expose the racers to the world.
  14. I didn't understand why George delayed the sex. He said it was because he wanted to see Venus through his telescope, but that didn't preclude having sex any other time of day (or night). Unless we're supposed to believe that he was having tremors before and after the sex night, but how would he know the tremors would stop long enough for him to spend the night with Charlotte?
  15. Midge was just there to confront Susie upon Susie returning from Baltimore. Midge was not traveling through Grand Central. Someone mentioned it should have been Penn Station. Although now all NY and Connecticut commuter trains (Metro North) go into Grand Central and all Amtrak and NJ Transit into Penn Station, it wasn’t always that way. I believe it changed in the late 1990s. What amazed me about the Grand Central Scene is that the departures board was the old fashioned “flip” style. By the time I left NYC in 2001, that had changed to a digital board. I remember because I felt like an era had ended. why did Midge have a vacuum cleaner at her reunion?
  16. She did it because she really wanted to appear on Gordon's show, as she considered it more prestigious. But yeah, I guess she could have appeared on Paar first, and seeing that, Gordon would finally let her perform on his show. Of course, she then would likely leave as his writer, which he wouldn't like, since he's still attracted to her.
  17. But he's the father of his children. He just shifted who was in trouble.
  18. I know! Because nobody else buying a coffin has a loved one dying/died. You'd be surprised by the number of people who "should know" but don't do this (my hubby is a lawyer). Why it had to be a secret is what confounds me. It's basic* planning when people have a baby. (*But see previous sentence.) I was happy that they had Regina lose the election!! Something actually logical! But why, oh why, did she think a stranger would recognize someone on the radio (hear her voice only) versus someone who ran for city council (had to be photos everywhere)?
  19. Isn't it the opposite? The Weismanns made their money from wholesale, while Abe was an educator (and thus, educated). The Maisels are the sophisticated people with the upscale, Manhattan apartment, while the Weismanns are out in Queens. Mrs. Weismann is always loud and inappropriate, while Mrs. Maisel is quiet. Maybe you just got the last names mixed up? ETA: I stand corrected. I was thinking because Midge is a Maisel, her parents are Maisels. That's what I get for supporting women not changing their name upon marriage.
  20. Eh, I think you need to add "My first impressions is that I don't like her." I didn't find it inappropriate. Ethan clearly doesn't like his mother much, either. I assumed she just suddenly realized she was in Ford's office and therefore skedaddled. Trying to kiss someone is not making a pass under today's standards. One must ask the other for consent to kiss, or otherwise touch, them. But yes, not sexual harassment because sexual harassment would either be him firing her for not allowing him to kiss her, or him constantly attempting this against her will. Agree with those who find all the parents unbearable rather than funny. Comedy usually is rooted in reality. Thus when the "joke" is something like Abe obsessing over a typo, but the reality is that an editor and/or a proofreader would have read over his copy before publishing, I just can't buy the joke. Also, why would Susie visit a prison when she doesn't recognize the name of the person inviting her? It's not like the prison is just down the street and anyone can just walk in.
  21. And as already pointed out, condos that are accessible? Doubt it. And it was on 2C, second floor. IF they had said it was on the ground floor, I could ignore the still absurd premise but no. I also think Maggie's building doesn't have an elevator Katherine, Katherine... Greta's hesitancy to have a child because of her mental issues is too valid to brush off with "but you'll be there to help them through it." It was a huge reason why I chose to remain childless. Depression and addiction run down both sides of my family. I've lived with the misery of both and there was NO WAY I was even going to chance passing that misery on to a child. I don't believe suffering through misery with support is so much better than suffering without support that it's worth risking with a child. Strictly my $.02. YMMV. I assumed Gary was executing a will, health care proxy, etc. He just didn't want Maggie to know because she'd take it as a sign that he was dying. BUT (1) every adult should have these things anyway, (2) especially when you have a child with someone you are not married to (if Gary died intestate, his estate would pass to Javier, and the executor of the will would then set it up as a trust for his benefit until he turned the age of majority), and (3) Gary's request for Katherine to keep it between them was for the viewer's benefit, because all lawyers must keep dealings with their clients confidential. I was going to say, good catch on the 2C thing, but others have pointed out that Eddie has been getting to Gary and Maggie's apartment forever by the super, secret elevator that all the other cast members avoid in favor of the stairs. I agree about the risks of a bipolar parent having a child. Bipolar is tough to treat. No one drug helps everyone. Greta's experience may be for naught if they can't find medication that works well for the child. And then there's the initial issue of who will carry the child. Greta would have to go off her meds to do so -- very dangerous. Is Katherine still young enough to carry it? (And when they had that conversation, I yelled out "They could use Eddie's sperm!!" You know they'll want a friend's sperm for this, right?). Really appreciated the Gary actor going all in on shaving his head, beard, eyebrows. Couldn't fault him for not losing 40 pounds, but did wonder about his seeming lack of exhaustion. Particularly when the cancer is in your lungs, I thought that the cancer victim would need much more rest and wouldn't be standing so easily, as during the wedding ceremony.
  22. Roman is desperate for family. He stayed with his father despite his father's abuse of him. Then his siblings invite him to be partner, and he pushes that. When Kendall wants to kill the whole deal, which wasn't the plan, Roman folds for the sake of being aligned with his brother (and wants his sister to be aligned, too). And he was pissed at Mattson because Mattson didn't wait for the Roys to look like a family at their father's funeral. At minimum, Kendall and Roman should have replied "okay, that's another $40 billion then." I mean, don't they have any idea what ATN is worth. What kind of prepping did they do? They really are just mimicking their father without his actual business acumen.
  23. They could have just shown Charlotte pregnant?
