  1. So AGAIN, we get the tired trope of someone standing around and talking, talking and talking giving whoever is going to ambush them enough time to do it.  WOW, great writing, just riveting.

Man, Jerry is stupid.  He actually believes the police would listen to the person who kidnapped the mayor instead of the person who found him?  Damn I'm sick of the terminally stupid people on this show.

    She is not that scary.

But, but, she has the EVIL LAUGH.   That HAS to mean she's scary right?  She must be a really good actor - how else does someone even manage to do the "Mwah hah hah hah" and keep a straight face?

I thought one of the characteristics of autism was difficulty reading social cues.  Yet, here was Theo, picking up every single hint of nervousness Whitley was displaying - and Eli was missing it.  Have they just dropped the autism thing?

Too soon for Chad and Steph to be living together.

I forgot to comment about this yesterday.  How did they go from "Let's discuss it with the kid's therapist and let's make sure the kids are on board before we do anything" to announcing to Maggie they're moving in together and looking at houses?  I guess it doesn't really matter because aren't those kids about the age where they should be shipped off to boarding school?  Or Maggie's so desperate, she'll probably offer Thomas a job next so he's probably getting ready to move out anyway.

In all his years as a mobster/career man, Victor never found a single business friend to trust with steering the ship in the event something unexpected happened? That's weird.

Because he was too busy creating ANOTHER revolving door CEO position.  He'd get pissed at someone for "betraying" him and they'd be out.  Or he'd hold the position over someone's head to try to get them to do something he wanted.  He never actually really wanted to give up control - he just wanted whoever was favored at the moment to think they were in control while he made all the decisions.

This isn't hyperbole; although, I understand why some people may think it is. I think the Fake Paulina and Abe story is one of the top 3 stories Ron has written since he's been at Days. The story, so far, is wonderfully paced. There's a good mixture of humor, camp, menace, and suspense. The actors are doing a great balance - this is from someone who never liked the actor who plays Abe.

I'm just glad that Abe finally gets to do more than just chuckle.  (Ignoring, of course, his breaking laws and generally being an ass over Paulina and Chanel.)

I see it more as her feeling guilty for tampering with the paternity test; so she’s giving him a child to make up for the one that he might be missing out on due to her tampering.

I see your point, but her whole reason for tampering with the paternity test in the first place was because she "couldn't lose him."  Again, a smart, independent, capable woman who somehow doesn't feel like she is "enough" for some man and must do whatever it takes to "keep" him.

    Today’s episode…

Very surprised they didn’t have Eric show up at the hospital for some convoluted reason so he could be with Nicole for her appointment. We all know this kid will be his.

They continue to ruin Sloan. She was awesome before this. No she’s a clingy, desperate woman.  😞

Steve Burton is just playing Jason Morgan again. Ugh.

You are 100% right.  Are we really going to have to wait until the kid needs a blood transfusion or something before we find out that the kid is Eric's?  (Of course, it's because it was Eric's, not EJ's that Nicole was able to carry to term at all.  Further proof of their DESTINED LOVE.)  And why does Nicole keep referencing since Holly was born - she didn't carry Holly.  She should be referencing advances made since HER last pregnancy - not Chloe's.

Sloan is proof that this show can't actually have independent, capable women.  (At least not until they're post-menopausal - I'm really liking Kate's "I'll just deal with this myself" attitude.)  All we're missing from Sloan now is the weepy apology 87 times in a row, while Eric scowls and lets her know how disappointed he is.

I think the 'secret room' is actually the wine storage room, which makes even less sense than anything else. And I love how absolutely stupid is all is lol.

It is, because Kristen was just going to go get some wine.  Is there another wine room where Harold and the rest of the staff go to get the endless quantities of wine they're always serving?  Is there another room for all the liquor bottles?  If not, do the servants just routinely walk in on someone tied up and just ignore them?   I also love how it seems the only way to access this particular room is through the "secret" door behind the sculpture.  If they run out of something during a party do the servants just walk through and open the door?  This "secret" room is causing me to have more questions than all the ever expanding apartments in Salem.

I liked Sloan's scenes with Eric at the Pub.  She would like a baby with Eric, but I think he is still moping over Nicole & only wants a baby with her....sheesh, he is So annoying!

It doesn't seem like Sloan really actually wants a child.  It's just another woman doing whatever to "keep" a man.  To me, this is just step two to the ruination of a previously independent, confident character.  The first was when she messed with the DNA test.  Eventually she will end up another doormat for "good guy" Eric - and will, of course, never be good enough for him.

So Paulina left the hospital without medical advice, but they wanted her BACK?

    What are they, nuts??

So Show has Rafe at the door of the apartment where Abe is hidden away.  I bet that tomorrow Show begins with Rafe having an eyebrow emergency and leaving without knocking.

Show ends with fake Paulina in the same hospital room as real Paulina.  I hope fake Paulina came with her tranquilizer dart gun.

After yesterday's screech fest in the police station it better be a high potency bear tranquilizer.

  11. Whelp, as I suspected, Sloan just used her own DNA.  I was REALLY hoping that, at last, they had a woman who was secure enough in HERSELF to know that she could handle anything and also secure enough in her relationship to play it straight.

But nope, yet AGAIN, another woman doing shady things because she can't bear to "lose" some man.  If your relationship is that fragile, you're going to lose him anyway.  Again, I really don't see what makes Eric such a prize.  When has he ever done anything besides mope and judge.  Maybe the show is trying to imply that he's THAT good in bed?

I'm trying to decide if I liked Sloan's bitch move of telling Jada that Nicole was possibly pregnant with Eric's child (even though she knew she fixed the results.)  Jada HAS been more of a bitch to Sloan than necessary and, like Rafe, is trying to blame her because she thinks this somehow makes her sister look less guilty.

So you are telling me that they have both possible Dads at the hospital and instead of having a medical professional test both, they rely on a swab done by a layperson who may not even have done it correctly?

Yup, University Hospital at its finest. Of course this show can't have anything done in any sort of professional manner.

Didn't Nicole test Mickey (or was it Holly?) with basically a random swab she had in her purse?  I keep waiting for someone to encounter a dog on the way to a paternity test and the results come back that the father is a golden retriever.

Ok, another solid episode! Not bad, Show, not bad!

I really enjoyed Nicole shutting EJ down at the hospital and reminding them both that she'll need both their support given the high-risk situation. Well-handled and earned.

I like all the questions being brought up as well: does Nicole see a future with EJ, or Eric? Can EJ deal with her sharing a kid with Eric? Does Eric still love her? Was Nicole keeping her options open?

The only problem I have is this bizarre "Eric has always wanted a family!" angle. Wasnt he a priest...repeatedly? During his prime fertility years no less?

I like the guy, but when Marlena gushed about what a good father he'd make, if only he had his own kids, I was like ".....um, remember Holly? The girl who called him Daddy until he abandoned her after becoming her stepdad?"

Married Eric going off to Africa for a year was the most problematic storyline choice in the long run because it ruined his credibility as a reliable man who wants a family. He had one! He walked away from one!

But I guess since that was due to sloppy writing, I should try and ignore it and stop expecting the show to investigate it or resolve it.

I need Holly back on the canvas though. If they're going to see this pregnancy through, I want Nicole's daughter involved.

Meagan has suddenly gone Cobra Commander and it's kind of hilarious.

I actually enjoyed Gabi and Stefan romancing each other today. But wasn't he supposed to be the new Big Bad, Ron? Huh. Guess you got bored with that idea, eh?

I agree with EVERYTHING in this post.  I'm not religious but every time someone brings up how Eric has ALWAYS wanted to be a father I want to throw something at the TV.  Being a PRIEST is not some casual job you do until you find your real occupation.  Eric WILLINGLY chose - more than once - a future where having children was forbidden, yet somehow having children has always been a life long dream??!   And your point about how he actually DID have a child - who had no other father figure with whom he had to compete - and CHOSE to pretty much abandon her is spot on.  Mr. Cat used to joke that he would be the perfect British father - the child would be presented to him - clean, fed and quiet.  He would read it a story and it would then be taken away and dealt with by someone not him.  It seems like that is the kind of father Eric wants to be - deal with the child when it suits him, otherwise he can just run off and save the world or whatever.  He likes the idea of fatherhood more than the actual job.

Is there a feminine equivalent to twirling your mustache?  Whatever that is, she needs to start doing it.  It looks like they're really going to go out of their way to turn her in to the next cartoon villain.

Why would Eric be talking to Marlena about him possibly being a father until the results come in? Nicole is 7 weeks?

Because he's the worst.  He pretended to actually listen to Nicole, and pretended to understand her emotional state and then went running to mommy like a 7 year old who just learned about a new dinosaur.  WHY are women so desperate to be with this guy?

Rafe is extremely unlikeable in this story.   He doesn’t learn from any of his past mistakes.  Instead of blaming Sloan for everything he should blame himself for not looking for other suspects.  There’s like four people on this board who want Paulina gone.  Geez.

He was SO committed to blaming Sloan that now, if some kids paint graffiti on a park bench he's going to haul Sloan in for questioning, insisting that somehow, she could have stopped everything.

I agree. I think what hurts this story is that the narrative's point of view changed somewhere in the telling of the narrative. Chanel was originally the point of view character and Sloan was the villain. Usually, in stories like this, Chanela and Paulina would learn some lessons and achieve some character growth at a story's conclusion.

That wasn't the case here. Paulina and Chanel didn't learn a thing, and they end the story exactly where they started. Colin became the villain with an assist from Talia, who is obviously going to be redeemed. However, the biggest narrative change is that Sloan became the protagonist, although not the point of view. She is the one who's changed and moved on from her original vendetta against Chanel and Paulina. She acquired a new family member that allows her to show a softer and more familial side. She's urging Colin to leave the Duprees alone - before the rooftop climax - and she's committed to Colin, not for vengeance but for familial love. We've seen Sloan change dramatically but in very subtle ways that are still in character. These changes keep her an antagonist but one with relatable and - I would argue - rootable layers.

Paulina and Chanel are just screaming at people without realizing how their actions help to create and escalate tensions to their rooftop climax. It's hard for me to feel sorry for those two characters, especially Paulina.

I want to like this about a million times.  Paulina still thinks she was RIGHT to cover up Chanel's involvement with what happened to Sloan and Colin's mother.  If she had let Chanel face the  consequences of her actions, chances are, Chanel would NOT have been charged with any crime and the whole thing would have been over.  Because she used her money to cover it up, of course Sloan and Colin think there are other things being covered up as well.  That's why there was a vendetta in the first place.

And Rafe REALLY needs to STFU.  Even though Sloan had no involvement whatsoever in what Colin (and Talia) did, it's like he wants to keep blaming her anyway - almost so he can justify blatantly harassing her these last few months.  Like somehow she should have magically KNOWN it was her brother and solved the crimes for them.  This is especially rich since he's obviously trying to minimize (and excuse) Talia's very real involvement.

Today I felt awful for Jada and Sloan. Both have younger siblings they are worried about. I have zero sympathy for Paulina who created this situation or Chanel who takes no responsibility anymore for her part in it, or Colin who is deranged or Abe who has no regard for the law or his office anymore except how he can use it to enable his wife. Rafe is useless. Miranda is still awesome. Don't mind EJ and Nicole. Hate that Sloan has to keep her secret which means keeping it from Eric.

Yes, the idea that they were going to arrest Sloan, just because she saw her brother and didn't turn him in.  They have absolutely NO evidence that Sloan knew anything about his activities in Salem.  She really should sue the department for harrassment.

And Abe is an aggressive jerk now he is with her, this is not the Abe I have known for 4 decades

Now I want Sloan to run for mayor.  Her platform can be that Abe manipulates the system for HIS personal gain.  He pressures anyone and everyone in every department to do his bidding regarding his wife and stepdaughter.  He orders the police commissioner to disclose information on an active investigation and got a VERY well-deserved restraining order removed because it was against his wife and put in place by someone he doesn't like.  He really has no business being mayor and should be replaced.  I know that won't happen, but I would love to see it.

Eric and Belle were super rude today, like, out of character rude. It was dumb.

Well, I put much more of the blame on Belle.  She just walked in and out of the blue started bitching at Eric about his life choices.  At least Marlena had the semi-decency to admit that Eric is what could (at least in Salem) be considered a reasonably competent adult and has the right to chooses his own companions.

Isn't Jada (and therefore presumably Talia) some old character's daughter?

You're right, of course.  I guess they're easier to accept because they're related to someone who isn't already connected to everyone else already here.  AND THEY'RE NOT SOME STUPID RETCON.

Someone going away and their offspring - that it is VERY reasonable to assume they may have had - appearing doesn't bother me as much as someone, somehow having a child that we never heard about WHILE we saw them on the show for years.  (John had an affair that produced Paul - during the time he was on screen.  Maggie or Vivian producing a child during a period when it was obvious they were never pregnant.)

Or someone, who's not only not dead anymore, but, of course has had a child.

Ok so...what's the consensus on Koman? He married her as she was dying.....sooo....yeah. It's not like she really was falling back in love with him and planning a lifetime together. And now he's all "you're the live of my life" and I'm...not seeing it.

I'm not seeing the romantic connection either.  I think they'd work great as friends/sparring partners (Kate does tend to make Roman livelier)  but I'm just not seeing them as a great love.

While I think Dimitri has potential to be a pretty good villain, does this show REALLY need a 947th DiMeara - and (probably) ANOTHER unknown/retcon child?  Stop with the back from the dead crap (Megan) and just introduce characters with a decent back story.  So far, neither Sloan, Colin, Jada or Talia are related to anyone else in Salem and the show had absolutely no trouble bringing them on board.
