  1. Bob Odenkirk played Uncle Lee Layne, the L of KBL. Not sure how/if he’s related (might be one of those “cousin”-type scenarios), and not sure what the situation is with their dad. I really don’t understand this family tree at all, tbh. But Lee certainly has been around the family long enough to have some major friction with Mikey

  2. Wow, this was….not good. Not only do we find out that Mary Tyler Moore is not Mary Richards or Laura Petrie, but an intensely private person who is actually more like Beth from Ordinary People. So that’s a little disappointing: she’s just an actress. I can’t help thinking that if the filmmakers were a little more skilled, we would have gotten a better look at & analysis of her charm and charisma.

Also, the director chose to use music to underscore every damn scene that drowned out the clips and the voiceovers. It was laughably bad music and VERY LOUD.

One thing I did appreciate was not showing the talking head interviews of contemporaries and random modern-day actors who were commenting on her & the shows’ influence on them, etc., because it’s a tired documentary trope anyway and who cares what Justin Timberlake thinks of the BeeGees (for example of another HBO doc). The voiceover and chyron were plenty, and didn’t pull focus from Mary.

  3. Watched the first three episodes today, and am pleased to know there’s more coming.

Holy smokes, these people! Who even, in this day and age, falls for cult leaders’ bullshit anymore? And yet, here we are. Dieting for God.

Still giggling over the former member’s assessment of Gwen’s appearance morphing from Christian housewife into strung-out hooker.

  4. Okay, who’s handing out the bingo cards? I’m putting money on the body in the coffin being the BLM guy. Possibly after a wild night with Tanya.

I noticed today that the BLM guy is Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite.

  5. I can’t even imagine being adopted out of an orphanage in Siberia as a baby and then rejected by your adoptive family at 11. It’s not like a pair of shoes you can take back or leave by a trash can. His wackadoo mom who adopted a bunch of random kids and then cut off the two youngest, and didn’t protect them from the predatory older sibling...no wonder he felt like a worthless piece of shit. And he would never find a home in the narrow, conservative political world he tried to fit into.

I just felt so sad for him.

  6. The sisters in this family were so oddly smiley, even when talking about sad and painful things. The brother & the mother had the saddest faces I’ve even seen. Shame on mama for blaming her for the rape & not owning up to the knowledge of Erika’s trauma in the intervention. Tsk-tsk on the gay best friend for aiding & abetting her sex work so that he could share in the drug spoils. At least the boyfriend tried to curb her usage.

  7. Here’s a bit of background on Mona Foote:  https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/24/style/nashom-wooden-mona-foot-death-coronavirus.html

I enjoyed this episode. It will stand as a marker for this period looking back, but it does seem unnecessary to mansplain to all of us watching and going through it what the pandemic was like. I didn’t know that so many queens had covid19... how fortunate they came through it, especially Tamisha.

  8. I thought it was smart to include Noel Gallagher and a Jonas brother, not only for the always-necessary modern musician viewpoint in a documentary of musicians from an older era to try to appeal to The Kids, but also to speak from the experience of being a brother band. I was not aware of the competitive friction between Robin and Barry.  I had always assumed it was Robin as the lead singer, the others as accessories. I had no idea how much input and control Barry had, and how much they all contributed to songwriting. Nick Jonas said that in brother bands there are long-simmering resentments going back to who got more attention from Mom and Dad as well as the usual band stuff.  I think it was Maurice’s widow who said that if they weren’t brothers, the band wouldn’t have lasted but a few years.  It was crazy to hear that after Maurice the mediator died Robin and Barry drifted apart and didn’t speak for 12 years or so.  What a waste of time.

  9. This show is delightful. This is what the Vegas show wishes it was. Just goes to show you...the raw material is probably there in both countries’ shows, but it’s up to the WOW show runners and editors to present it to us. I’m sure there many light-hearted moments in Vegas that aren’t contrived and manufactured, but the show runners think we won’t be interested unless there’s some beef and drama and beat us to death with it.

Unless the UK queens really are silly and funny and just happy to be there and grateful for the opportunity, and the US queens really are a bunch of miserable petty bitches, in which case my apologies WOW show runners and editors.

Okay, tonight's "Evil Lives Here" made me cry. What a heartbreaking story.

Did they say what state the kids’ bodies were found in? That must have been a long, terrifying ride for them from New Hampshire.

I really dont want to listen to Vanjie for 6 episodes.

Oh, I could listen to Vanjie all day every day. Girl makes me laff.

They are really pushing the Derrick Berry drama, with the backstory about mom and stepdad. Don’t care. Don’t care about the thruple home life. The whining when she tried to placate the rift between Naomi and Nebraska set my teeth on edge.

If I had more than $1.99 and a few buttons in my pocket, I would put money down that should they win, Alexis will face Vanjie, Jujubee will face Raven, Shea will face Sasha, and so on.  We probably only avoided India facing Mimi by a hair.

I would pay good money to see Alexis vs. Vangie.  I would pay Vangie to come over and read the phone book to me.  She cracks me up every time she opens her mouth.

Thank you! I thought she looked familiar! I Just thought it was a repeat I was not remembering.

Their story was featured on an episode of I Survived. I don’t know if any of you watched that show, but it was one of my faves, saw every episode.  I was also extremely surprised to see Jayne & Eduardo on a commercial for Cancer Treatment Centers of America, giving a testimonial for the care there. It got me thinking that maybe they were actors or possibly they were still broke and needed the endorsement money. But hearing that Jayne died of cancer makes mr feel bad for thinking any of that.

I was disappointed with the whole show.  It felt like a regular ID show with nothing much about forensics, which is what made the classic show so good.  I loved Peter saying all of those fancy words - nothing like this in this one.  I wish they'd use the beginning and middle stuff for the Classic one - they were the best part of this and the only parts that seemed like Forensic Files.  I'll watch it again next week and hope it's better.  If not, I won't.

I agree. Man, this show is dull. I was thinking they’d be exploring all the new technology that’s been introduced in the 15 years or so that this show’s been off the air — it was so cutting edge at the time.  These first two episodes just feel stale. And Peter Thomas, this narrator is not.

I watched this video purely because of the thumbnail of this guy's color coded system of organization! If you want to see the wall, skip to the 7 minute mark.

OMG, if you spend that much time organizing and playing with Lego, can’t you take some of that time it would take to sort thousands of pieces and, you know, slap a little paint on the walls of that dank basement? Or fix the washing machine? Or lay down some carpeting? He was walking around in his socks on that disgusting floor.  I just can’t.

The lady with the big hair and over-exaggerated expressions is annoying. It reminds me of a Kristen Wiig character.

OMG I love her. I need gifs of her mugging to punctuate my every thought.

I love the beardy guys. Timber Town was the perfect theme park idea for them. I was sad when it didn’t work. Quite a few didn’t work, actually. Nestor & Dad are exhausting. The newlyweds have the potential to get annoying. The team that didn’t work well together are not going to get far unless they sort it out.  Their snippiness with each other makes me uncomfortable. I feel like I didn’t get a chance to know anything about the others...there were some brothers...there was another team of older white guys I don’t even think we got their names.

Definitely not everyone is on the same level, here.
