  1. I'll risk it to mark the 25th anniversary of the first time I saw Phantom Of The Opera, which will be in February 2021.
  2. I liked Willie and although ROTLA is the best, I have a soft spot for TOD. It was the first one I saw and the one I've seen most often. I don't deny that Willie's constant shrieking and screaming is annoying as hell, but she's an ordinary woman who was living a very sheltered and pampered life, abruptly thrust into what is frequently a utterly terrifying situation. It's completely understandable. All things considered, she holds up pretty well--she sincerely tries to get help when Shorty and Indy are kidnapped (in a deleted scene), she jumps right in to help free the slave children, and she practically becomes a Mama Bear to Short Round despite initially being annoyed by him. I particularly that bit when she smirks at Nola Ram when Indy threatens to throw away the stones. Despite all her carrying on, she fully understands their importance.
  3. NYC gyms reopen on Wednesday! It's time for me to get my arms back (I had Michelle Obama arms before SHE did, LOL).
  4. I only saw her in the miniseries Reckless over 20 years ago, but I remember how completely plausible it was that a man 15 years her junior (20 in real life) could be completely enamored with her. How refreshing that for once, it's the woman who's the older one and that the age difference is irrelevant.

    Quantum Leap

I had the same Fridge Horror moment about that too.
  6. I appreciate the episode where colorism was addressed, mostly because I can count on one hand the number of times it has been. It was brave to show that even with all the prejudice she's encountered, Renee could still display it herself, given her attitude towards her light-skinned campaign manager. It was gutsy to demonstrate that that it can happen both ways.
  7. I hated that too. No matter how phenomenal the winning actress' work was--Erika Sleazak, Cynthia Watros, etc--it was all about how Lucci had lost yet again. And as thrilled as I was when she finally won, she didn't deserve it that year. Between that and being up against Y&R, that's precisely why it (and Port Charles) were doomed.

  9. Sadly, probably not. The royal family probably has had to deal with a lot of nutcases regardless, so I can imagine how much it ratcheted up when one of them dared to marry a biracial woman. I spent their entire post-nuptial carriage ride praying some bigoted idiot with a rifle wasn't out there.
  10. This makes me sad: https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/harry-read-cruel-online-comments-101400738.html As does this. I knew about the white powder letter, and I always suspected that the reason Meghan had such a large motorcade was because she received substantial threats. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/meghan-markle-prince-harry-were-164000144.html But this is a sweet footnote: https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/queen-loved-meghan-markle-soon-114900332.html
  11. They just posted the clip where Tag jilts her after getting her to admit that she doesn't love him the way he does her. I'm sure I've posted this before, but it really says something for the show's quality that it could make you feel sorry for a disposable love interest you're not really supposed to care about.

  14. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/meghan-markle-didnt-talk-thomas-markle-after-archie-birth-230107359.html Meghan was 8 days overdue. . . (or three, technically).
  15. I spent that whole story wanting to shake some sense into her. Yep. I still remember GH pulling off two huge eye-candy events within just a few weeks if each other (Ned and Lois' wedding and the Nurses Ball) back in 1995. Nowadays, even before this nightmare, you wouldn't even see one. I wonder why the ratings were never very good (aside from being up against a ratings powerhouse like Y&R), because from what little I saw the few times I caught it, it was a very good show.
  16. Are you watching muncejom's channel? (She added a ton of episodes from the early-mid-late 90's) a few years ago. Do you know where I could find the Loving episodes from that storyline? It was the happiest day of my life when my school schedule let me get out at 1:30 so that I could catch half of All My Children, but that was unfortunately too late to catch Loving. It's a shame its ratings were never very good. (What happened to that idiot sister of his who refused to accept what a psycho he was?)
  17. I thought so too. I don't think they should have revamped it into "The City". I get that TPTB were trying to give it a ratings boost, but it clearly didn't work.
  18. There's a YouTube channel called "ER", officially devoted to posting favorite clips from the show: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmFOrXia93QJEU2WwbL4irQ They update very regularly. So far, there's a wealth of clips for roughly 2/3 of the seasons.
  19. I know this technically isn't the thread for this (or maybe it is, given all the crossovers in 1992), but it was 25 years ago that the "Loving Murders" kicked off. There's a YouTube channel devote to them, but it's the promos I remember the most:
  20. And Charlotte Diana Elizabeth just doesn't sound right. To commemorate the 58th anniversary of Jamaica's independence: Fun fact: Jamaica gained its independence in 1962, ten years after Elizabeth's coronation, so the milestone celebrations happen in the same year--Harry visited Jamaica in 2012 to mark both her Diamond Jubilee and Jamaica's Golden Anniversary.
  21. Sadly, but not unsurprisingly, the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular is the latest casualty of the pandemic. 86 years and it took something like this to nix it. On a happier note, the 2019 Les Miserables concert is now available.
  22. Enjoy this week of vintage episodes, because new ones will resume on August 10: https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/young-restless-returning-episodes-month-173850773.html
  23. (thick German accent) "YOU GOT THAT!?" That reminds me of an episode I was watching where the close captioning stated "Victor mumbles incoherently" and I thought "As opposed to. . .?"
  24. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/young-restless-omg-week-preview-080000146.html This week is "OMG" week, whatever that means.
