  1. Well, I think I'm done with this show. Not in terms of watching it, I will stay until the bitter end, but in terms of giving a shit about anything. There is no character or story that I'm invested in anymore. There is no one left to root for, except maybe Davos, Jon and Team Daenerys. All this gratuitous, exploitative violence has made watching this show unpleasant. I want to see how it all ends, but I don't think I can bring myself to care about it.
  2. This is pretty much what I thought as well. I really liked the characters and the story and I can't wait to find out what happens next.
  3. The pilot that impressed me the most was The Man in the High Castle. I was always a fan of alternate history stories, and it didn't hurt that the show was based on a great book. Really enjoyable, very impressive visually and good acting. I didn't really care about Point of Honor. It was well made and the acting was decent, but nothing was really that interesting to me. Mad Dogs was great. Good acting and an interesting mystery. I only found out afterwards that it's a remake of a British show. Cocked was alright. Not the most original concept, but well executed. Salem Rogers was more fun than I imagined, and while I don't like shows where the protagonist is a complete asshole, I might just keep watching. Down Dog was just utterly boring and uninteresting.
  4. Over the holidays, I've been playing some games. First up was Wolfenstein, which I really enjoyed. The story is pure trash, just like the other games in the series, this one seems to take itself way too seriously at times. The utterly pretentious narration really feels out of place when I'm shooting Nazi cyborgs with a laser gun. Also, I expected more fantastic weapons, this one only has the awesomely named Laserkraftwerk, otherwise it's just your standard FPS rifles and shotguns. Still, there were some great moments in there, and I enjoyed it a lot more than other FPS games in recent memory. Next up was Alien Isolation. I was a bit skeptical going into this, since it seems to be a very polarising game. Personally, I enjoyed it. The environments look just like from the movie, I love the "retro future" aesthetic. The first hours of the game were really intense, though it was a little too much trial and error at times. Once you get weapons to deal with your enemies and see the fabric of the game, it becomes a bit easy and a lot less frightening, though there were still some great moments. The game also could have been a bit shorter, but apart from one really terrible instance of backtracking, I was never bored. Right now I'm trying to finish the campaign of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag I started a year ago, and my Wii U needs more attention.
  5. I watched the finale again today and it hit me just now that this show is over. I watched Avatar shortly before Korra aired, and while I enjoyed that show very much, I absolutely love Korra. I suppose I just connected more with the characters. These last two seasons have just been fantastic. While season 4 was a bit weaker than 3, and a lot of its problems were also visible in the finale ( rushed plot lines, awkward pacing, characters being pushed in the background), I really enjoyed it. The ending was what really amazed me, though. During the last minutes, I was wondering where they were going. I didn't expect Korra and Mako to end up together, since their characters just changed too much. But I was not expecting this. Hats off to the showrunners for that decision. I love that final scene. It says everything without being explicit, and it is just beautiful. I hope there will be a return to the world of Avatar someday. If not, there are still seven great seasons of television to rewatch. If only the Blurays were out all ready...
  6. There is an amulet you can buy at the smith in Haven/Skyhold, it's called "Tactician's Renewal" and refunds your skillpoints. After Inquisition, I've installed DA2 again, and I'm really enjoying it. There's something about this game I can't put my finger on, but I absolutely love it. I might be one of the few people who prefers 2 to Origins.
  7. So I've finally finished Dragon Age Inquisition, and while the ending was a bit underwhelming, as a whole, this was a fantastic game. I liked the main story, although it was a bit short. There were many moments where my jaw dropped, and one scene in particular left me speechless. Aside from the few bugs, this was very impressive on a technical level. Beautiful landscapes, fantastic sounds and music, and superb voice acting. It was very fun to explore the world, even though some of the quests seemed more like the usual RPG busywork. If this is the future of Dragon Age (and Bioware in general), I'm looking forward to the next game.
  8. So, this game came out today and I just finished it. It is definitely a great story so far. I'll probably have to let it sink in some more, but I'll say this: By the end, it is definitely Game of Thrones.

    The Star Wars Saga

I must have watched this trailer about a dozen times now and I love every second of it. It seems to have been designed to say "Do you see how unlike the prequels this is?", from the first shot even: real actor in a real costume in a real location looking sweaty and dirty. That's in such a stark contrast to the lifeless, artificial scenes of the prequels that they must have done this on purpose. I really like the "used future" look of the desert planet. Again, in contrast to the shiny, polished stuff in the prequels, an a lot more in line with the original trilogy. The lightsaber was a bit silly, but it doesn't bother me that much. I was also surprised at how restrained the fanservice was. Besides the shot of the X-Wings and the scene with the Falcon at the end, there was none of it. They could have gone all out, but they didn't, and I personally really like that. TL;DR: I liked it, I'm hyped, and I'm sure it's going to be a good movie. Especially since JJ Abrams has already made a really good Star Wars Movie (called Star Trek).
  10. DA:I is huge. I've played it for over six hours already and I haven't even finished the first area. I've also encountered my first dragon, it killed my entire party in seconds. :( So far, I like the new characters. Sera is probably my favourite, she's just so adorably crazy. Also, the game looks amazing. I don't think I've seen a world this beautiful in quite a while.
  11. The Walking Dead was an amazing game, way better than the show. I like Season 2 as well, but it wasn't as strong as the first. The characters were less memorable than in S1 imo, and a lot of the plot felt very linear. The Wolf Among Us was also good, but it felt less like a game and more like an interactive movie or TV show. I am also very much looking forward to playing Dragon Age Inquisition. Also, you don't need to buy it on PC. There's a thing called Dragon Age Keep, which is a website where you can create your own world state. It does import your saves, but only for achievements. It does not import all the decisions. It's very easy to handle, though it might be hard to remember some of the more minor decisions.
  12. Benedict Cabbagepatch as a superhero? I don't know. I like him in Sherlock, but I don't think he can convincingly portray a superhero.
  13. I really enjoyed this pilot episode. Like others said, it felt a lot like the original movies. There was a sense of adventure that was missing from the prequels. The characters are pretty flat right now, but there's room to grow for them. Also, I was surprised how violent the show was. Regarding the wookiees: They did look off, but I guess that's to be expected when you can't render hair, and for that matter, fur, properly. The child in particular reminded me of Chewy's son from the godawful Holiday Special.
  14. That's pretty much my story as well. I couldn't afford a new PC at the time, so I got a 360 with Mass Effect. I finally bought a new PC three years ago and I'm not considering to switch back to consoles. I had to upgrade it this year, which cost about as much as a new Xbone, but it was definitely worth it. I do have a Wii U, because it's the only next gen console that has any games that interest me. Right now it has Mario Kart 8, Wind Waker HD, and Hyrule Warriors just came out last week. There are still games to come, like Bayonetta 2 and Splatoon, and I'm really looking forward to those. I also have a 3DS that I bought with the new Pokemon X. The 3D doesn't really do it for me, though.
  15. You're not the only one! I liked SGU as well, especially in season 2. I liked the setting, most of the characters and that there were actual conflicts between them. I still think SG1 is the best overall, but I'd prefer Universe to Atlantis any day. I can see why some people would be upset because the show is so different, but personally I think the franchise got very stale before SGU, so a breath of fresh air was definitely needed.
