  1. It takes an insane amount of hubris to repeatedly cast someone charged with battery (Roberts) in this climate and think you don't have to answer for it. I don't care if Peters dropped the charges. She gave him a bloody nose and bit his face. The stories about her being a raging bitch have swirled almost since her career started. I'm genuinely waiting for the Ryan Murphy takedown, because it's coming.
  2. I said the same thing in another forum. This season should have been called American Horror Story: Unemployment since the majority of the cast's entire career is dependent upon Ryan Murphy writing them into one of his shows. The more we learn about Donna Chambers, the more I'm convinced she's this season's Dinah Stevens: character with no real purpose to the plot but given a role because she's friends with Murphy. in fact, many of these characters feel like they were intended for someone else - Burke the porn Daddy even looked like Cheyenne Jackson. Cook seems like a role meant for Kathy Bates. Age-wise, Paulson was a much closer fit to Margaret than Grossman. Trevor has Peters written all over him. Either they all hard-passed this season or Murphy didn't invite them back. I can remember Murphy giving an interview right after he got his star on the walk of fame. He said he was going to share the theme for the upcoming AHS season with the cast at some after party they were having. He knew back in late 2018 he was going to shoot this camp season. And I was today years old when I made the connection between this season and Lourde, Grossman, Roberts and Fern appearing at this year's Met Gala with Murphy where the theme was "camp." I don't think Ramirez will turn out to be Ramirez because of what you said: he has a real-life timeline. (But then, Murphy had no problem implying Gianni Versace has HIV and one of Cunanan's victims tried to kill himself despite there being not one shred of evidence to support either, so who knows?) Also from the This Makes No Sense file: Jingles is there to kill Margaret. Margaret is flitting about that camp, talking to ghosts in the forest, flipping off all the lights, just generally strolling about. How is it that Jingles has encountered everybody except the one person who is not hiding or running from him?
  3. And her father is part of Ryan Murphy's management team. So there's that. Last night was fun-ish. I get the feeling Donna's backstory is going to amount to exactly nothing and she doesn't need to be there at all. Out of everyone there, she has no purpose aside from some manufactured out there premise that justifies giving Angelica Ross a job.
  4. The theory is that Montana is connected to Brooke's ex-fiancee. That would explain why Ramirez wanted the ring when he broke into Brooke's apartment. It would also explain why Brooke was attacked the same night she was talking about being attacked because of open bedroom windows.
  5. I will say that this episode was exponentially more enjoyable without Brooke. Even Gus Kenworthy was better.
  6. What the hell did I just watch? This has to be a movie. Between Trevor's ridiculous dialogue and that fake Ray head flying in the air...it has to be a movie.
  7. A few things I noticed: *The Hitchiker said he wasn't supposed to die there and that Ramirez wasn't supposed to be there. I got the impression he was referring to directions in a script. *Margaret seemed completely unfazed at seeing a dead guy. *I don't know if it's supposed to look that way or if Leslie Grossman has just gotten some bad cosmetic surgery but Margaret's face looks like it has prosthetic parts. Are they going to Roanoke us in episode 5?
  8. I'm half-way through the fourth episode and I can't get past the fact that near-30 year olds are playing teenagers. It's Election but with a dude. Ryan Murphy seems to be running out of original ideas.
  9. I'm thinking Rita is dead, too. Did they ever determine where the blood on her shirt came from? It didn't look like she was injured.
  10. I both love and dread this part of AHS,. This is the "we're going to throw all kinds of stuff at you, half of which we're never going to explain" part. Is this Murder House, but in a camp? I knew the hitch hiker was from the 70's. I'm guessing Trevor is, too, because of how he dresses. Rita, too. The Ramirez/Jingles face-off is inevitable and stupid. I'm lost but more invested than last week.
  11. The writer who does the AHS recaps for Entertainment Weekly referred to the actor playing the gas station attendant as "the emaciated ghost of Patrick Swayze." Keep it classy, EW! '
  12. Cody Fern usually promotes his projects on his Insta. The only time he didn't was for House of Cards, and he was very public about how disappointed he was with that experience. Aside from the cast trailer back in July, he hasn't said a peep. Someone posted a video of them all together watching the premiere and he looked less than enthused. Emma Roberts wasn't with them.
  13. I think it was a riff on Jamie Lee Curtis in Perfect. They actually make a reference to it in the episode. It's when Dakota says she was inspired to do aerobics after reading an article in Rolling Stone. The movie Perfect is about a Rolling Stone reporter who does an expose on the aerobics craze. The gym Xavier teaches at is even calls The Perfect Bod or something like that. I thought Cody Fern was the best thing about ACS Versace after Darren Criss. I also enjoyed him in Apocalypse, at least before they turned the anti-christ into a man-child. I think he's quite talented, but he needs to get his head out of Ryan Murphy's ass. Xavier is looking to be yet another androgynous sexually ambiguous character. That seems to be the only role Murphy will give him. All in all, what has me most "meh" about this season is the cast. Other than Anjelica Ross (Rita), it doesn't seem like anyone there was cast based on their talent. It's all nepotism. That wouldn't be so bad if any of them could act beyond the one-note character they play every season. I'm very salty that Emma Roberts is the lead when she was charged with domestic abuse. I just do not get why Ryan Murphy keeps rewarding her with roles in his projects. Also meant to add that they made a point to show a close-up of the van's license plate - VANTACY or something like that. Between that and the fact that the initial cast announcement trailer was set to I Can Dream About You, I'm wondering if maybe the first couple episodes are a dream or a movie within a movie.
  14. The official trailer only included the first episode. The season trailer from last only covers the first two or three episodes. That's why it seems like it all takes place in one night. They won't finish shooting until early November. This is why the season always goes off the rails. Most series have written a good three to five episodes in before they premiere. That makes it harder to just veer off in another direction. AHS doesn't appear to do that. It appears as though they write each episode as the series airs. I'm getting strong Roanoke vibes from this season. I get that for some the campy fun is entertaining, but I don't watch this show for the humor or audience winks. I watch it for the performances and the story.
  15. NTM, Delron Horton (Ray) isn't even in the opening credits, so I guess we shouldn't get to attached to him. Just like how American Crime Story is about a crime committed by society, AHS was about a horror committed by society, like infidelity (Murder House), how we treat the mentally ill (Asylum), etc. That and the stellar cast is what elevated this series. That threatening call Xavier got is about him being a closet case in Hollywood in the 90's and his fear of being exposed. See, I can get behind that because THAT'S a real horror. I want more of that. I don't know it it's because Murphy is busy with his 732 Netflix projects or what, but it feels like he's intentionally dumbed down this season. You'll never convince me that Paulson and Peters both just happened to bow out of what's looking like the weakest season in the franchise. They knew it was going to suck. There aren't enough audience winks and Easter eggs to hold me for a couple episodes, let alone a full season, and I grew up in the 80's.
  16. The scene where Kenworthy took off his shirt to show off his bod was such blatant pandering to the gay male viewership. The question is whether that was to parody an 80's movie or a direction by Murphy. Grossman, Roberts and Lourde are all one-note. Wow, so far this casts sucks. There has to be a twist.
  17. There's no way they're going to be able to sustain the slasher movie trope theme for 10 episodes. There has to be a twist, right? Because that was painful, and i;m not just talking about Gus Kentworthy's acting.
  18. Jackson admitted that production helped him during the comp. At one point Jackson misread the question and was aiming at people who did win something and production told him he was supposed to be aiming for people that did not win something.
  19. Jessica Lange was asked if she would make an appearance this season. She said she wouldn't want to start all over by creating a new character and would miss the regular cast and named Paulson, Bates and Conroy and no one else. This cast is beyond weak. I know people are excited about the homage to slasher flicks, but I watch AHS for the story, not to spot movie references and watch Ryan Murphy's pets recreate the same character over and over. I'm so disappointed with Cody Fern. I had such high hopes he'd use ACS and AHS as a springboard and not stick his head up Ryan Murphy's ass. There's a reason the men from ACS never get Emmy nominations and it's because Murphy favors the women. That's the only way Adina Porter got a nomination. Fern better get used to carrying the seasons with absolutely no accolades in return.
  20. That's why I think they're fiming a movie. That and the latest teaser has two of the counselors watching a VHS of a scary movie and it's a clip from the official trailer. They They're not even trying to hide that they're ripping off movies from the 80's. There has to be more to it.
  21. Yikes. Not feeling this season at all. I wouldn't be surprised if they pull a Roanoke and we find out mid-season they've been filming a movie.
  22. She's EXHAUSTING. She can not let any opportunity go by without using it for attention. She'll come out with a statement saying she isn't actually married, you see. What she meant was... Honestly. Exhausting.
  23. So I guess ML no longer wanted to know how her son really died? She dropped that quick. I loved Lie To Me so much I took a class in microexpressions. It's fascinating stuff and some thing everybody should study. It's a great tool to use when navigating difficult situations.
  24. I'm doubtful this season will even be remembered at Emmy nomination season next year. I don't even see it getting any Golden Globe nods. It was just too uneven and the writing was atrocious. Giving Renata meme worthy dialogue is not enough to merit a nomination. And Kidman has already won once for the same material. Curious why Reese didn't step in regarding the issue with the woman director having control wrangled from her so Mark Vallee could edit the episodes. She's the producer.
