  1. Yes. I was thinking of Google Seattle, which isn't too far from their preferred area.
  2. From about a week ago — San Francisco to Seattle couple. They moved for "tech" jobs. I'm thinking Amazon or Google, and I'm thinking that old-time residents must kind of resent the rising cost of living and traffic issues.
  3. He said that he usually finds a nearby spot at night, but I'm sure by now there's been times when that wasn't the case... and then those 65 steps. I did sympathize with the wife about not wanting to be in the suburbs without a car. However, she was another one who insisted on "charm," and she tried to use that against the suburban house (nice grassy backyard — and that wraparound bench circling the tree!) even though the other two city center places each had a few modern touches.
  4. I also wondered about camera nerves. Either that or she's really that awkward. I also got the vibe that she likes him more than he likes her. Remember when Gordon explained the meaning of falling into one of the street canals—that you'll marry a Freiburger? Looked like she was tempted to fall in after he said that. So awkward (again!)
  5. The HH voiceover called her a "self-proclaimed diva." Let's see how long tiny living lasts!
  6. He also commented a couple of times about how the surroundings reminded him of home. That first tiny apartment looked like it could've been off of Interstate 5 cutting through an edge of downtown Seattle, and the others had views that reminded me of sections off of Lake Washington.
  7. It now kind of makes sense why he insisted on being "where the action is" even though he didn't get his way. Fewer reminders of quiet West Seattle... and all those trees.
  8. Hehe. When I see house hunters demanding tons of square footage for their small/normal sized families, I feel as empty as the huge spaces they're about to buy.
  9. Yep. The kids seemed comfortable. Growing up in the SF Bay Area probably helps make moving to Asia not so daunting!
  10. I can see how separate kitchens would work for families who keep kosher or halal. Also, for families with at least one person with a really sensitive allergy or other medical issue. That said, I know what you mean about baking leaving huge messes!
  11. They were positive without being snobby or uncomfortably weird, which is kind of rare in HHI :) And their dog is super cute.
  12. It was off-putting when she called herself the man in the marriage. At least she didn't go on about needing to expose the kids to "culture," as if North America has none.
  13. Thanks for this info. She mentioned wanting to take advantage of Palmerston's green spaces, but I thought Tennessee — let alone much of the U.S. — has plenty of those? "Wanting a simpler life" is such a cover for other issues that are most likely a bit sensitive, and therefore probably more interesting.
  14. What a dumb saying! Notice that seconds later, you see a crocodile in a driveway.
  15. Hope this posting works out well for him. I'm usually okay with trying what you dreamed about, but she didn't get into why this move is such a big deal. Is she part Italian? Fascinated by some part of Italian culture like the food, art, language, history? Has a secret thing for Italian men? Or, she built a fantasy based on travel blogs or movies like Eat Pray Love.
