@VioletNevermind so true. She is so disrespectful of her dad! It does look like Glen is finally getting tired of her being the CEO of the family. I think Hunter is over her too. "Whitney is ruining this trip and this is only day one!"

Oh geeze! She lifts up her skirt and blows cool air on her hoo ha!! Yikes!

She is disrespectful and rude to the entire world.

She perpetuates that stereotype that morbidly obese people are loud and obnoxious, rude and inconsiderate.

Chicago’s Finest got all bent out of shape about the other teams critiquing their pours for the bong?  That’s sad.

I didn’t think the sabotage was really all that bad.  Adding an additional s’more or two would have been a better sabotage.

I've never drank anything like that before. So what was wrong about the way he was pouring it? It goes in the funnel, down the hose, into the person's mouth?

Did I hear Michael say the strippers had "circus olé" moves??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I thought I heard him pronounce that as "circus ole" too. Friend's daughter about 12 years old wanted to watch "circus ole" on TV. We teased her after she found out watching the show it was Cirque du Soleil. We did that little Carman Miranda dance move with where you pretend you have castanets in your hands and say "circus ole"!

I wonder if they cut some of the jumpsuit woman's pitch, because they seemed to really not like her and I couldn't figure out why. Just because she believes in recycling it means she isn't focused on her business?

I was at a wedding where the couple had there dog in the ceremony. But they had a groomsman walk it down the aisle and then I think after had their regular dog walker take it home. Because lots of people already have dog walkers/dog sitters, why would you need to specialize in watching dogs at weddings? And if you wanted to do that, why on earth would you pay a franchise fee instead of just doing it on your own? So dumb, I can't believe the Sharks thought it was a good idea.

I don't get that either. I'm also a vegetarian and if I was on this show I'd say I couldn't try their product and wasn't going to invest because I don't eat meat and don't want to be in the meat business. But maybe that's why I am not a Shark. And maybe he is one of those people who just tries to eat Vegan most of the time, but doesn't really care about cheating?

I know a lot of people have their wedding party or family/friends take care of their pet for the weddding. I wouldn't have been able to have my dogs in my wedding. Whenever I would be out with my dogs, my focus was on them and keeping them safe. So it would be too much of a distraction. I took my dogs everywhere with me if it was dog friendly or if they would get something out of the outing, dependent on weather of course. Otherwise I left them at home where they would be safe.

If Sharks started sticking with their dietary restrictions and being vocal about it, might give entrepreneurs something to think about before they try out for the show. If they know that a majority of the sharks have restrictions, their chances of getting a deal would be slim.

    Good sleuthing.

But I will say this show is a much harder way to be in the public eye than most reality shows.

Keeping your name/brand out there in the public eye is important to celebrities. About 20 years ago, there was a kind of game you could play on the Internet that used Celebrities "Q scores". I didn't play it and I couldn't find anything about it now. You would choose your fantasy team of celebrities and then if you had the highest total Q scores you would win. Q scores measure a celebrities "clout" or importance, popularity, etc.

  6. I did some Googling the other day to see what they may be paid for this show. I found some article that said $100000-$500000 to appar on the show depending on their celebrity status. It was only that one article so I don't know the validity of that claim. But any time I see celebrities on competition shows or game shows or whatnot, I'm betting they're just trying to get some quick $$$ and some public exposure to keep themselves relevant.

I don't disrespect sex workers but I also don't want my nose an inch away from a stranger's butthole.

In his limited defense, he said on AfterParty that he was so drunk that he didn't remember anything about the conversation. I'm hoping the producers prompted the guys to talk raunchy for that segment and he just exhibited really poor judgment.

I felt set up. I really dislike all the dress shopping and telling the family bullshit. I liked getting a wedding so soon and I think it could work to show a wedding, then then show in flashback a little bit of the shopping/telling the family/etc. I liked the satisfaction of seeing at least one ceremony (such that it was) out of the gate. Then again, I know they like to stretch all this into as many episodes as possible, so...

I tried watching some more tonight. I noticed that one of the brides had janky blue fingernails with some nails missing when they were showing her intro scenes. Interspersed with scenes from her telling friends, she had perfectly sculpted white nails and so did at least one of her friends. I wouldn't think white nails were a thing unless for a wedding so that makes the timeline of when these things are filmed a bit sus. Like why would he have her nails done in white as if for a wedding 2 weeks before the wedding when she's telling friends? Seems like it's all staged and rehearsed and out of timeline.

@Lurk.  Maybe the novelty wearing off.  I did like last year’s couples.  Mostly.  But wasn’t sitting on edge of seat then either.

Curious.   I feel like I’m watching a lot of repeat.  Tou?

I think every reality show adopts a formula for their contestants after a couple of successful seasons. Here they'll have the the bitchy one, the blonde, the doormat, the macho man, the I'm a lot, the eccentric, etc. It's their "formula" for picking people to be on the show. After a while every season of reality series seems like a repeat of previous seasons with slight differences.

I tried to watch again tonight from the start. I didn't make it much farther in. Blonde chick in the olive green nipple shirt with her vocal fry and up-speak (which her friends had as well), did me in. I couldn't even listen.

  9. I'm 14 minutes in and it isn't holding my attention. I'll try to watch it over the weekend. The beginning was so odd, just randomly showing "stood up guy" getting stood up with no real intro to the show or anything. I don't even remember if we heard a voiceover at the beginning of Pasto Cal's "for the first time in MAFS history...." Just so randomly odd.

  10. I didn't want to post in the episode thread but I was looking at tonight..... 3 hours and 6 minutes of show -"10 singles married at first sight blah blah". So I wondered what was on for next week 2 hours and 35 minutes - "With one pair having already exchanged vows......the other 8 singles make the final preparations for their own mile high matrimonies....."

So 3 hours and 6 effing minutes of show coming on tonight and only 1 couple gets married. Lord help us all. I wish I could watch the episode at double speed like I do when I watch youtube videos.

    1. Bots: I expected Fanatics guy to kick this company to the curb after talking about how much he hates the way they disadvantage the average consumer. Because what is this bot but another disadvantage? It’s not free. So if you can’t afford the bot subscription, you’re still at a disadvantage to the person who does. This is hardly the Great Equalizer the pitchmen made it out to be.  Hard pass for me, and extreme side eye to Mr. Fanatics.

    2. Beef Wellington: I have a recipe that allows me to make delicious beef wellingtons in about an hour, using store bought frozen puff pasty. I’m sure it’s not authentic, because I don’t make the pastry myself, but it is damn delicious and probably tastes just as good as the similarly frozen product this company would ship to me. And my wellingtons don’t cost anywhere near $45 each. Another hard pass, with an eye roll.

    3. Glove wrap: I never played baseball, never had a glove, don’t know anything about glove wrapping. So I have no interest in this product. Another thing I have no interest in? Precocious kids who are trotted out by their opportunistic parents in order to make a humdrum product seem more appealing than it is. Barbara was right— just grab any elastic band and get on with it. Hard pass with a judgmental stare for bad parenting.

    4. Dating service: I have no idea how this would scale, or how a shark could even help her, given it’s a one-person service dependent on that one person and how many hours she can find in a day. I also don’t understand making a deal with someone who doesn’t know her numbers, something Mark Cuban would ordinarily blast an entrepreneur for. But I guess if you fawn over Mark enough, he’ll see past it. Hard pass with a look of disgust.

This episode wasn’t for me. And it made my eyes very tired.

I agree with you on the kids. I really wonder if the kids really "invented" whatever they're pitching or if they're just trying to use the kids for the cute/age factor to pull at someone's heart strings. (not mine)

For the dating service person, wasn't there another contestant this season that was just 1 person company. One of the sharks made a comment about what happens to the company if he gets hit by a bus? Same thing here, she's the main and only thing in this business. What happens if something happens to her or she gets bored with it?

I'm willing to bet that the locals just dumped the collected pomelos into different canals in between teams. That would make sense.

I really enjoyed this episode and rooting for Jocelyn & Victor, Greg & John, and Andrea & Malaina.  Those lotus flowers are so beautiful, despite having to swim in the muck for them. I really felt for the team members who lost their shoes.

Were those their own shoes or some sort of uniform given to them? I thought i saw something where there were some clothes for them at that challenge.

Very uninspired week. But I’d love to taste the beef Wellington. I might order it.

Beef Wellington sounds fancy, but I don't see the allure of having a piece of beef wrapped in puff pastry, coated with pate or mushroom paste? I don't know exactly what they spread on it. I just see it on Hell's Kitchen. Most of the things they cook on Hell's Kitchen seem overrated to me. Or maybe overexposed. I love scallops though. But the Wellingtons and risotto (which to me is water/goopy rice) don't appeal to me.

My hope is that Tumi and Natalya will get together and see through Kyle and bring him down.  But I think it won't happen because the whole objective for bringing his lazy self back has to be as a sh*t stirrer.  But, no conflict; no show. Or we'll get sex triangles.

i don't remember if it was in this thread or the previous episode thread. But Kyle is definitely the sh!t stirrer. He's also lazy. He was a lazy sh!t stirrer on the other show with Natasha and Natalya. I think the 2 Nats would have gotten on better without Kyle at all or another stew.

Tumi did come in hot, I think because of what Kyle said to her AND thinking she needed to assert her dominance over Natalya that SHE is the Chief now. I do wish she would have acknowledged that Natalya managed to Chief Stew with the boat in a mess. I don't remember Natalya putting everything where it was, maybe I missed something in the way the boat was setup.

"I am fifty years old and I have nothing" was apparently a euphenism for "I don't have a house but I have plenty of money for impulse travel".

I hate when people cry broke and then do something like go on a lavish vacation. Broke is cutting the mold off a piece of bread and using a rubber spatula to try to scrape a little peanut butter out of the empty jar to make a sandwich.

  16. Tumi did seem to come in a bit hot. She said that Kyle had told her in quarantine about Natalya and what a problem she was or some such. So Kyle already started drama before he even got on the boat. I recall that was Kyle's best trait - stirring the pot from both side. I was surprised that he and Natalya seemed so chummy when he got on board. I also got the feeling that Tumi was trying to asset her dominance in taking over the Chief role to show Natalya who is in charge now. I may be misremembering, but Tumi seemed to be confrontational and unyielding on her prior season.

I was very interested in seeing the deep talk Glenn was hoping to have. Then it turned into this bullshit beer pong  and dance-off with relentless shrieking and screaming.

The alpha-posturing between Twitney and her niece with the competitions, trying to one-up the other and the shrieking and screaming...... What an embarrassment. Glen was right to be worried about how Twit would behave. Act like an adult for pity's sake.

I’m really annoyed that whitney made Glen put on one of those stupid shirts… he’s not a grandpa or a greatgrandpa. Biologically yes, but in all the ways that count? He’s not. Not saying he won’t be, but right now he’s not. He’s clearly nervous and her stupid shirts are just wanting her to take control.

She make Glen put on a grandpa t-shirt and she arrives in leggings and a sports bra. She has real clothing. She wears it during THs. Why can't she wear pants and a shirt like a normal person? Why is it always schlumpy workout clothing like spandex leggings and a sports bra?

Anybody else notice the filming technique was different ? And annoying ?

It's as if the camera was sped up for filming just a bit *or* slowed down *or* something.....I suspect to make the filming feel like a documentary.

I welcome anybody else's take on this.

Something was very different. And off.

I thought that effect was similar to what you see in some movies. Usually dramas or mystery type movies.

Who was the third person -- we saw half of him, but not his face -- who didn't even merit a mention? Maybe the actual captain of the boat? 😉

The one guy they showed with the blurred face was the ?MCA? inspector person from what I am guessing is Port Authority or their Coast Guard? I don't think he is staff on the boat, but he was the one checking the validity of everyone's paperwork to clear them to operate in that port. I can't remember the exact title or initials she mentioned about him.

They did show the whole thing. Both pairs were working on the savvy puzzle and making some comments about how none of them were going to get it (Jake: "At least we're all being dumb together" 😆), and then they showed the sand running out of the hourglass.

Agreed that it wasn't all bad. There were some people I liked (Kaleb/Sabiyah and most of the Blue tribe, for example) and some humor, and hopefully the freneticism will go down a bit when people settle in.

Thanks. I missed the sand running out. I usually record and then watch it back later, but tonight I watched live so I couldn't run it back.
