  1. I have the episode called "Chuck and Crew" on in the background. Please don't ask me why. This is an episode that illustrates my biggest pet peeve about Ree, the phony pronunciation. In this episode, Chuck and the crew are fixing fence or, as our intrepid heroine says it, "fixin' fince". I know that I have brought up her ever changing accent before, but in this episode she keeps forgetting which version of herself she is trying to be: country girl or suburban business woman. She keeps forgetting which pronunciation to use, changing from "fince" to "fence" and from "limin bars" to Lemon bars". Meanwhile, the real cowboys, Ladd and Chuck, who have nothing to prove, call a fence a fence, not a fince. I am so sorry to keep repeating this point, but it's Ree's phoniness that drives me crazy. Thank you all for giving me a chance to vent!
  2. Would you care to share your list of Ree's irritating foibles so that we can compare and contrast? I do agree that her qualities were far less irksome in the earlier years. She seemed more natural.
  3. Lura, you may be on to something. Every once in a while someone complains about the negative quality of this thread. I am always a little surprised by the intensity of these comments, because I do not see this as a cruel venue. Most posters here comment on Ree's over the top cooking and on her "aw shucks, I'm just a little old housewife" persona. The "don't be mean" posts seem to pop up randomly and seem to have nothing to do with an ongoing thread. So maybe they are planted here by buddies of Ree. Just a thought.
  4. I did not even attempt to watch the Brady Bunch episode. Just the thought of all the emoting and all the girlish giggling that the location would inspire in Ree made me decide to skip it.
  5. I think that Keith said he wasn't ready to have a wife just because he couldn't take any more of Iris' sanctimonious attacks on him. Always the gentleman, he took the blame upon himself and avoided saying that he simply couldn't stand her.
  6. Thank you, Lura. Yes, her affectations are much more annoying than her high fat and high sugar creations. I initially found the show charming and was intrigued by the concept of living in such an isolated manner. The truth came out for me when she stated on one episode that she was making lunch for Chuck and the group so that they wouldn't have to go into town for lunch. Oh! The isolated little ranch girl was just another affectation.
  7. I don't know whether this topic has been covered already, but I must say something about Ree's ever changing pronunciation. Sometimes Ree is cookin' and sometimes she is cooking. Sometimes food is tinder, sometimes it is tender. Sometimes she uses limons and sometimes she uses lemons. Sometimes Ladd is at the pins and sometimes he is at the pens. Sometimes she is assimbling a dish and sometimes she is assembling a dish. Sometimes I think that she changes pronunciation to appear more cutesy and girlish and other times she uses more standard pronunciation. Has anyone else noticed this?
  8. I have been a longtime reader, but this is the first time that I am commenting. It was very difficult to find this, but I am glad that I did. I was worried that the thread was discontinued due to pressure from Ree or her family. I hope that this is not the case.
