  1. Maybe it was the only one left in the goodwill bin.
  2. Panic attacks aren't necessarily logical things. The smells, sights and situations that trigger one aren't necessarily what you think they'll be. Maybe it won't be colors. Maybe it'll be a small group prayer led by a man. Maybe it'll be having her peripheral vision obstructed. Maybe it'll be a sharp dressed man in a long black trenchcoat, or a woman in a teal dress. Maybe it'll be a busy grocery store, or something else mundane. And a lot of times you won't know until it happens to you. As for that tag, I'm wondering if she's left it in because she's going to sneak back into Gilead. Dumb, but it's something June would do.
  3. This is from reddit. u/HandmaidHaven posted a summary for episode 9. She posted very accurate spoilers for 1-8 a few weeks ago so I thought I'd share here. https://www.reddit.com/r/coconutsandtreason/comments/nt1zvp/episode_9_summary_spoilers/
  4. Maybe that's when Nick shows up.
  5. Has it really only been a few days since she got out of Gilead? I'm only asking because I feel like Serena's baby bump increased a lot in size between episodes and maybe I'm the crazy one.
  6. I think maybe the reason June didn't mention Lydia, or Washington is that this is the Waterfords' trial. The Waterfords didn't run Washington and they didn't control Lydia. When someone is on trial it's all about them and what they did. What you guys want is a tell-all interview. Some escaped aunt supposedly did one of those in the first season and we never got to see that. That's part of the problem with this show. They won't show anything that goes on beyond Agent Coconuts so when they show these pro-Gilead protestors it feels like they're just pulling something out of thin air.
  7. Yeah, instead of getting handmaids killed now she's going to get former handmaids killed.
  8. I'm just glad that when June got the scissors out she didn't cut off her cattle tag again!
  9. I agree that it's been too long since they've had the issue on the show. In fact, it's only been mentioned once or twice. So if it happens now, outside of Gilead to Serena, it wouldn't really be comeuppance. It would just be the writers throwing in a spoonful of Miracle Whip 3/4ths of the way through the fruit salad.
  10. I believe Esther as a leader much more easily then Janine. This show is in looneyville.
  11. Couldn't that also be spun as her trying to save June's life? June would be sent to the colonies if she didn't have a baby in a certain amount of time. And nobody was with them for the labor rape. That's her word against theirs.
  12. Part of the issue for me is that I have seen so many other dumb choices and implausible things happen on this show in particular that I'm just waiting for the next dumb thing. OK, new scene, let's watch for another one, and invariably it happens. Now this holds true for anything I watch, but when I am entertained, or the story intrigues me, or I'm in some way invested in what's happening, these things don't bother me as much. The problem with this show is that there are too many dramatic, silent pauses, too many dumb choices, and too many implausible situations for me not to question what's going on.
  13. Lawrence doesn't strike me as remorseful as much as he seems to be really frustrated that they don't seem to be implementing his plans right. I get the impression that he feels like he's surrounded by idiots and this would all be going swimmingly if they would just do exactly what he says. But they don't, and that's why they're in such a mess. I like BW and Lawrence myself but as the show has gone on it's begun to wear thin. Lawrence has said things to people enough times now that people ought to see through that thin layer snarky charm and know that he really has the same ideas as the other commanders. His smart plans got implemented badly by stupid people, so now he has to backtrack, and his mistake is costing millions of lives. But saying "yuppers" at a meeting or "you betcha" at a prayer breakfast will totally distract everyone from the stacks of bodies. I think people like BW because he used to be on The West Wing as a witty, likable character and that's carrying over into this character now. They've given him a few snarky lines that no one else on this show ever would have said, but Josh Lyman totally would have. So that likability has carried over into Lawrence. He's been in other shows since TWW went off the air, including another Sorkin show. I just haven't seen them because I'm picky about what I watch, so it's been a while since I've seen him in anything. So there's a nostalgia thing going for the actor and I don't know if he always does this.
  14. I found this on Reddit a few minutes ago. Not sure where it was originally posted.
  15. I don't think Lawrence wanted kids running around his house due to his wife's mental health. That's what my impression was anyway. And you're not going to go back and kill Hitler. There's a law. 😄 https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HitlersTimeTravelExemptionAct
  16. That club in The Sopranos, Bada Bing, had a silhouette of a nude woman on it, I was thinking maybe that with a few, uh symbols of coitus? 🤣 Any unapproved activities could have a circle with a slash through it.
  17. I skip through the torture porn. I get it. They're torturing her. I don't need to see every second of it. With sequences like this I'm stunned they weren't able to pad it out to 13 episodes again this season. This show is my train wreck now.
  18. It's probably a franchise like Chuck-E-Cheese. I wonder what's on the sign outside since they can't have anything with writing on it.
  19. When Aunt Lydia told the leaders of Gilead to find June, that was... I dunno, the most televisiony-television moment I've seen in a while. This series doesn't really have scenes like that and it seemed out of place.
  20. This is about season 3, but I'm putting it in the spoilers section since it has things in it that may end up in season 4. @aperture on tumblr got the season 3 scripts and I guess there was quite a bit in there pertaining to Nick that got changed and/or cut. This is an all-Nick post and she says she will write about the other stuff later. https://aperture.tumblr.com/post/188502533791/season-3-script-summaries-nick ETA Here's a link to the reddit discussion thread where @aperture answers questions: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheHandmaidsTale/comments/dl7y9e/spoilers_s3_season_3_script_summaries_nick_scenes/
  21. I can't find where the discussion was on the Robert Lacey companion book was last season, so I'm hoping this is the right place. The second book is coming out soon and it covers seasons 2 & 3 so i thought I'd post. There is a UK version and a US version. I have both of them for the first season. The US version is a regular 6x9 inch hardcover book. It's terrible, don't get it. The formatting is all cramped, a lot of the photos are in black and white when they should be in color, and it's a smaller book. You want the UK version. It's slightly larger, it's in more of a coffee table book format, the print is larger, more of the photos are in color and are placed where they should be, and it's just more of a Robert Lacey book. If you're in the US, AmazonUK will ship it from the UK, or if you wait a few weeks generally books like this will show up on US Amazon under a private seller. Not sure about other outlets.
