  1. Valley Erica was hilarious this week
  2. Not everyone follows trends. Looking back at old family photos I don't see any of the stereotypical giant hairstyles. In the same way, not everyone sported a mullet in the 90's.
  3. I actually find Erica being aimless to be refreshing on the show. So many sitcoms throw characters into instantly successful college/careers. It is so realistic to show a smart 20 something year old being lost in life. It happened to myself. In high school (and college which I finished) I was at the top of my class, which really did nothing to guide me in real life. I was so focused on studying, getting good grades, etc that I had no time to focus on 'life after school.'
  4. I felt like this episode wrapped up the engagement storyline well and in a realistic way. When I was in high school, I was convinced that I had found my one true love. Turns out I was just a dumb kid too and had no idea what real love is. I am glad that they didn't just end the engagement and have them continue to be together as if nothing happened, and it was nice to see Lainey attempting to grow up and be an independent single woman instead of being tied down with her old boyfriend.
  5. The melons cracked me up, especially when Murray was eating a melon with a melon baller at the theater. And Geoff is great.
  6. The thing to remember is that ultimately, The Goldbergs is based off of true stories. Real life Barry doesn't marry Lainey, so he won't in the show. For the same reason, Jackie hasn't been written off because real Jackie was Adam's real life long term girlfriend. Anyway, I was just glad there was no singing. I have so many hummels and so much furniture with my name on it that it isn't even funny. I have no idea what I will do with all of that stuff when the time comes! Every time I visit, family tries to pawn off old sweaters on me that are older than I am! No! I don't want your crap! Also, I love Matt Bradley.
  7. I don't think playing with toys at age 16 is all that weird...although I went to a nerd college filled with people with much stranger habits than that. Who's to say that playing with toys is any less immature than an adult that has stuffed animals or plays video games? At 30 years old, I still have and occasionally play with legos. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. Anyway, the stamp collection was a jerk thing to do but I'm sure it was just made up for the show. Murray's reaction was priceless when he tried to break stretch Armstrong or the wall crawling things. "You're just playing with those as intended." I'm also tired of Erica singing in every episode. I much prefer the days of corny music videos by Big Tasty and Adam, like the New Kids shot by shot video. Bohemian rhapsody not so much because I really love that song and Queen...but I did laugh at the first few lines.
  8. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. She was raised by a master manipulator. Of course with Beverly it is disguised as her being a "smother," but the manipulation is obvious. At least Beverly seems to be learning the error of her ways when she sees her daughter acting the same way to someone else.
  9. I would imagine that any person who had it all together in high school...but then proceeded to struggle/fail in the real world would have a great deal of insecurities. Some refer to it as the quarterlife crisis when you're in your 20's and don't have a real sense of direction...aka myself when I graduated from college during the recession and ended up working part time as a cashier. I'm sure that the show just wants to make it easier by having Erica at home. I just wish there wouldn't be as much singing. I do however enjoy all songs/music videos with Barry and Adam. Always get a good laugh out of those!
  10. I don't know. It seems that the whole family makes pretty terrible comments all the time and somehow all is forgiven by the end of the episode. Take Barry for example. Has he ever actually been a good friend to anyone in the JTP? Everyone in the family is self centered. It is kind of the premise for the whole show. That being said, I believe that Erica would lash out after becoming a failure in adulthood. I have seen it happen to many people in real life who peaked in high school or college. One day, depending on how long the show continues, she will look back and regretting burning so many people.
  11. The best episode of the season so far in my opinion. I always love seeing the full JTP group. Lots of funny moments, the roller coaster scene, the scoop balls, new Geoff, Murray insisting that he wasn't involved and then being at the principal's office with Geoff saying "Why am I here?" It is also refreshing to see Barry actually being good at something.
  12. A quick internet search suggested that shredded cheese first became a thing around the 1950s or 1960s. I think most people probably did still shred their own because pre shredded likely cost more back then. I guess Barry was onto something lol
  13. Keep in mind that while Erica did go to college, she didn't even finish one year...most of which she spent partying and performing poorly in her classes. Not much growing up can happen in that short of a period of time. She is definitely quite a brat though at times. I don't mind that they make up by the end of every episode. It is a comedy after all and I like it to stay in the lighter side. There is enough drama in the world..and enough dramas on TV :)
  14. I enjoyed this episode. Things I liked: Geoff's callback to his stage fight from The Tasty Boys episode. Barry controlling the utilities like a mad man...also his homemade Rad clothes fashioned with tape Frenta karaoke Rick Springfield! The Barry/Lainey engagement has been going on for a bit...but I am sure the spinoff will come into play at some point. All of the parents were trying to talk them out of it...then they will come to accept it and Barry and Lainey will learn on their own eventually that the timing isn't right. Also, I am missing the JTP moments. Hopefully some more of those will happen soon. It is nice to see Beverly happily hanging out with friends of her own.
  15. I'm pretty sure they are still in high school...they just didn't show any scenes with them there. Did Erica even have any lines in this episode? I did enjoy the conversation between Barry and Geoff about the recipes. I never really cared for Jackie/Rowan anyway so the character change doesn't bother me since she isn't a main character. Adam's cut off shorts were pretty hilarious. Overall, liked this episode more than the first one. Looking forward to next week
