Oh, lord, where do you even find a dress that ugly?! That is just hideous. You can't tell she's lost weight. No one could pull that dress off.

So it's not just me. I too feel like the quality this season is much lower, and this used to be one of my favorites.

I found the whole thing very unseemly - a man making degrading comments about the "nasty" woman who had just done something huge for him. I'm not crying any tears for Jeff.

Good points, Grumpbump. There are cases where kids who have been saying they're going to school and they aren't and have killed their families to avoid getting in trouble. So it is not beyond the pale to me that this kid went into the wilderness or whatever and committed suicide to avoid the fallout. But it would be interesting to know what was in the note to better be able to assess. Seems like if people are going to participate in this show, they should be prepared to make a full disclosure.

I noticed for the first time that they introduce Marcella as a master pastry chef and a cookbook author. Jason was introduced as a "baking expert." Lol

Captain Corndog - snort. Lawd honey, Jason will forever be Captain Corndog for me. I think Jean Francois is kind of sexy and funny. It breaks things up a little bit. Count me among the U-verse users who had the ending cut off.

Interesting that Chip and Polly could drink legally in Mexico but had to get permission from their parents to get married. I wonder if that was a national law? There was a flashback in the honeymoon episode to Steve talking to Chip as a young boy. Is that the same actor that plays teenage Chip? I really had no idea this series was on so long.

Somehow I have become fascinated with this show. It wasn't one of my favorites back in the day, but I remember watching some of it. I was more a Brady Bunch/Partridge Family kid. I leave the TV running all night on MeTV because the shows don't usually get too noisy and I find the nostalgia oddly comforting, and M3S is always on right before my alarm goes off. Many times I wake up early and listen to it while I lay there. I think when Katy showed up, I started getting more interested. Then Barbara and Dodie and now Polly. I've started taping it because I'm just fascinated by how perfect everyone is, even when they wake up in the morning, and all the perfect, beautiful houses. It's like a precursor to the John Hughes "middle class" that's really upper middle class. I think shows like these gave me a really warped view of what "real" life was supposed to be like!

I've never understood the frat and sorority thing, but I would never have been accepted even if I had wanted to be. I couldn't help but think there's probably an even larger group of parents of girls who have been sexually assaulted by drunken frat rats who could have their own support group.

This is such a struggle for me with my own 17-year-old daughter. She is on the autism spectrum, very high functioning, and she has started to want a little more independence. She loves the outdoors, and we live in a townhouse complex with a playground just around one of the buildings from us. Literally like a one-minute walk. She likes to go over there and read her book under the trees. Every cell in my body wants to tell her NO!!! But, crap, I don't want to be that overprotective. And thank God for cell phones. But I always think if she goes missing, people will be online saying, What the hell was that mother thinking letting her autistic child go out alone?!

I have teenagers and was thinking the same thing - how do they go on??? I really wish Disappeared would stick to the older people who have disappeared because these cases just hit too close to home and the odds are almost certain they left against their will and are not alive. ETA: I was thinking about this case some more, and I'm kind of disturbed by the fact that Tabitha slept at the bottom of her parents' bed every night and was compared to an 8-year-old emotionally. I'm wondering if there was some abuse going on. Also, I think she certainly must have known and trusted the person she got in the car with.

Kind of reminds me of the woman who disappeared off the cruise ship boat and one of the guys investigating the case ripped off the family for quite a bit of money with his scam of finding their daughter.

I went and rewatched, and the private detective definitely went to the "brothel" in November. The parents went up in December. The private detective went back and tried to find her in January and wasn't able to.

Maybe I'm mis-remembering, but I swore she said (and they reenacted) her going into the house and seeing Ali. Then she left for Houston, etc., to set up a plan.

This scenario really made no sense to me in that the female detective or whatever she was was IN THE HOUSE with who she was sure was Ali. What did she do? She went back to Houston and returned a month later to find her gone. WTF?

I've been wondering about this myself. So those are skater jeans? I couldn't figure out what she was wearing, but they're not attractive on her. They make her legs look stubby.
