  1. Felt really bad for this owner re his girlfriend that committed suicide. It's so obvious he's never taken the time to truly grieve her death. That being said, he really didn't seem like a great businessman. Penny wise and pound foolish. I imagine investing in one of those little price sticker guns was a lot cheaper at first, but it's really costing him in the long run. And the inventory system, cash register. At first I thought it would be such a fun place to work, but, God, everything would just take so long and be so tedious. Totally off topic, but cool to see there's others here who have a sugar addiction they're in recovery from. That stuff is like crack cocaine for me.
  2. Kromm, my thoughts exactly. I haven't watched the new one yet and don't know if I will. The last one about meltdowns was pretty boring.
  3. I usually love to hate Kody, but I thought he was really sweet and kind with Annie. They have a good rapport. I think he actually respects her.
  4. It's a very weird coincidence that her boyfriend died of a heroine overdose a few months prior to this, but I don't think it was premeditated. Google exec is culpable too. He let her shoot him up. She definitely needs to be held accountable for not calling 911 though.
  5. Yeah, I don't know that she's so trustworthy that I could convict the husband based on her say-so. I mean, she was willing to kill someone to get them out of the way. What's to stop her from lying about the husband too?
  6. I just love Harry, and he's about the only reason I watch this show. Like someone upthread said, I was wincing my way through a lot of the people that got golden tickets.
  7. Thanks for the update, Galloway Cave. I guess Collier has a "type" then. Wonder what the friend looks like.
  8. Exactly, MonicaM. My husband comes from an LDS background, and we briefly joined the church years and years ago. Their big selling point is that families can be together forever. Unfortunately, that is not a good thing for some people. Also, they're still on-board with polygamy, just not in this life. Probably more detail than anyone wants, but my mother-in-law was sealed to an LDS man. He died. She remarried another LDS man. She cannot be sealed to him because she was already sealed to her first husband. However, he divorced his first wife that he was sealed to, but it's my understanding he would have been able to be sealed to my MIL if he chose because, well, men can have more than one wife in the hereafter. Not sure what's going to happen in the afterlife with the ex-wife he despises.
  9. Applecrisp, you're alluding to something that was on by mind. I didn't understand why Collier was saying the sheriff could kick his door in and take him to jail any moment for their polygamist lifestyle. If they're all just living together, why? Or is he a bigamist? Also, all I could think when Kody and Christine were having their picnic table conversation was that Kody despises Christine and she's getting pretty close to being over him.
  10. I'm wondering if this situation of owners who don't give a rat's ass would be solved if Anthony only considered helping hotels whose owners reached out to him instead of concerned family members or hotel workers.
  11. Lizzing, I love to crochet so that lady caught my eye too - lol. And for such an unusual story, this show did not have me on the edge of my seat at all.
  12. The boom town hotel owner was all kinds of creepy. My husband and I both agreed that he was in his element with the drug addicts and prostitutes. Anthony totally didn't get it. Hos and druggies need somewhere to crash, and this guy is only too happy to provide that service, especially since they wouldn't be welcome at the name brand hotels. Anthony wanted to put lipstick on a pig.

    Serial

Binge listened to this over the weekend. Really enjoyed it, but I love true crime stuff. For me, the Best Buy phone booth thing really bugs. There's all this talk about how the cell phone records seal the deal. Wouldn't the police have been REALLY interested in getting the call records for the phone booth? I mean, that would prove if and when a call was made to Adnon's cell from there, wouldn't it? I have to think that since there's nothing in the State's case about it, that maybe it really didn't exist, and that's some reasonable doubt for me.
  14. I think Christine was a bit over the top and that her anger was probably due to some other issues as well, but if my husband's good friend told him to leave me and our children to be right with God, I'd be pissed too. Can someone explain to me what the big dust-up was over Kody saying he was going to spend the night at the camp instead of the hotel?
  15. Yeah, this one was a heart-breaker, but I was so impressed with that then girl/now woman. And the members of law enforcement that continued on in her life, awesome. There's so much negativity about police officers these days, but when I watch these shows, I'm blown away by how tender-hearted some of them are and how much they care about the victims.
  16. How weird would it be to have your ex-sister-in-law be your husband's new wife? When there's a divorce in a family, you usually side with your sibling. Then to have that person sleeping with your husband? I'm no Mary apologist, but I'd like to know more about Janelle's first marriage and if she was the one who left or if it was mutual or what.
  17. I was literally screaming at the TV, "Does he not realize he's being filmed?" when cutting-corners guy was spilling his guts. Apparently he has absolutely no filter. My husband said that's the reputation Maaco has though. What do the higher-ups expect when someone's compensation is totally commission-based in a job like that? I don't blame the guy for leaving the company. I mean, it never occurred to the boss that that is how the guy had been trained? Why not call his managers on the carpet as well?
  18. Damian has never hit the bottom three as far as I can tell, but apparently Adam sucks as a coach and is constantly throwing him under the bus and people have even intimated in prior threads that there's a racial component. I guess Adam needs to step up his sabotage game because it hasn't worked too well up to this point.
  19. To me, "Sexual Healing" seems pretty darn tame by today's standards, and I've been known to clutch a pearl or two. But then again, there's something to be said for leaving a little to the imagination.
  20. I don't really have a dog in this hunt anymore. I fast-forwarded through most of the performances. I hope CWB wins. And I really think Chris is very talented. He just needs to loosen up. Adam in a pink sweater, sigh. I always love Danica so much more when she's singing in the group songs. She actually seems to have a personality and is having some fun. "These Dreams" did nothing for me, plus being glued to those stairs was really awkward. "Take It Easy" is 40 years old? Ugh, that makes me way too old to be mooning over Adam in a pink sweater. And Gwen is too old for what she was trying to pull off last night.
  21. I'm in a 12-step program that is much more female-dominated, but I've been to many AA meetings over the years with my husband who has 23 years clean and sober. I have always been grateful that I am not a female alcoholic. The meeting vibe is totally different, with AA being so male dominated. There are many women-only meetings, but I don't know if that would always be an option in more rural areas. That being said, Karla had been through rehab twice and had to be very aware that getting into a relationship so soon was a big no-no. I can't blame that on AA. Also, the first time the guy beat her and terrorized her, she bailed him out of jail and let him move back in with her. That is all on her. I really feel for Karla's parents and if something needs to change within AA, then it needs to be addressed, but their daughter's death is not AA's fault.
  22. I think Ewell saw his in-laws sitting on a goldmine and wanted a piece of it. That being said, this was about family as well as business, and I really didn't like that Marcus and the show had no sympathy for that. I wish they had had more consideration for what would happen if they threw the brother-in-law under the bus. You could see the love the female owner had for her sister. She wanted so badly for her to move back home, and then it blows up in their faces. It sounded like the families weren't even speaking anymore. I can't imagine things are much better now that the show has actually aired. Granted, the BIL has his part, but I'm really disappointed in Marcus.
  23. I'm with everyone else. This is one of those cases that scares me to death because if you get stuck with a crummy jury, you're toast. You always hear on these shows about the CSI effect, that jurors expect DNA evidence if they're going to convict. Apparently there was someone else's DNA all over the victim and her stuff, and they still convicted.
  24. And please stop trying to make Sugar happen. Though I think America will do that for you tonight.
  25. After Matt's performance when the coaches said they couldn't even hear his vocal, I'm wondering if that is the reason they think some of these other performances were so awesome when they were clearly having some bad moments. Also, fine if you want Kohl's to be a sponsor for your show, but making everyone wear the clothes, especially the women (poor Danica and Reagan) is not working.
