  1. Doncha know you have to vote based on skin color to prove you're not racist? If you vote on what you like and don't consider color, that's racist. Like Katy says, we don't want to let Michelle down by holding her to the same standards as all the other competitors. And IDK the demographic breakdown of this show, but in a country with a majority of whites who have their own cultural preferences, I'm thinking that's the way the votes are going to skew. If you want to take that as proof that people hate you, well, God bless you.
  2. Ada is no comparison to Jennifer Hudson's version or the original, Jennifer Holliday. That was a shreaky mess. Just an emotional pick on the judges' part. It's like they are picking based on emotion and America is picking based on singing and the judge's just can't comprehend it. Except for maybe Jurnee. Girl can sing, but she is cold. Reminds me of Jennifer Hudson on AI and why I think she didn't go farther.
  3. I'm beginning to think country boy Caleb got lucky with his song choices in the early rounds because he has not impressed me since. But he looks great. I felt like Catie's was the first voice that I could hear and enjoy. Everyone else just seemed flat and/or muted. Cade continues to be a one-trick pony. My favorites are probably Maddie and Gabby at this point. Gabby totally bugs, though, with the fake country twang. I wish Harry Connick was here to call her out on it. I want to like Jurnee, but it feels like she's not connecting emotionally with the songs or the audience. I thought there was some good criticism from the judges, but it is definitely reaching Voice levels of ridiculousness with so much unwarranted praise.
  4. ^^^I'm going to hell too because that is hysterical!
  5. I did not remember the cancer hoax either. Plus they said that they are still pursuing evidence of the ex's involvement.
  6. And then they get knocked up and are shocked that he isn't as excited as they are about the baby. I mean, in this day and age with so many men who want nothing to do with their "oops, I didn't know sex could lead to procreation" babies, why are women still trying to get a guy this way?
  7. Loved that the couple who were into feng shui got Vern. I hope they try to better match designers and homeowners this time instead of going for the shock value. What in Lularoe hell was Paige wearing? I am not digging her style this time around.
  8. I don't hate clowns, but that was creepy AF. I would love to know what the shooter was thinking over the years as DNA evidence became more and more commonplace and sophisticated. These days that kind of case would be a slam dunk even without DNA - CCTV of her buying the flowers and balloons, cell phone data of her locations. The son was just shattered. I really felt for him. I'm glad he seems to have gotten his life together and got some justice for his mother.
  9. This reminds me of that show on ID called Fear Thy Neighbor. You have two pig-headed sides that are determined to have their way, and it just ratchets up and ratches up until there's an explosion. For me, there is really no side to take.
  10. I think the biggest goof was the police not filming the entire interrogation. That really looks suspect. I thought it was a law now that all interrogations had to be filmed. Or maybe it's state by state. Just seems like a good idea anyway because everything is out on the table and doesn't look suspicious.
  11. I didn't think Effie was great singing Heart, and the only time I thought she sounded good in her duet was when they were singing together. Maybe there's some backup singing in her future. Ragu or whatever has something there, but it needs to cook a bit longer. Same with Shannon, so I was okay with them not going through. Amanda was one of those that's good but I'm not really interested in seeing more. Still being surprised by Mara, and I loved Rachel Platt so much. What a kind soul.
  12. Yeah, I think not a lot of good behavior on either side here. I get how upsetting it must have been to the people of Antelope, but that's life, right? Things change. Nothing stays the same. You can't force your will on other people without bringing negative consequences on yourself. That being said, the Rajneesh were assholes. If they were really what they said they were, they would have totally understood the townspeople's fears and formulated a plan to integrate into the community in a more thoughtful fashion. People who are truly full of peace, love and understanding are full of peace, love and understanding for everyone. And don't even get me started on how they used and tossed away the homeless.
  13. Mara gets my vote for most improved. I was pretty amazed she pulled off Whitney so well after that Tina Turner impersonation train wreck last time. That's my favorite thing about this show - seeing the growth from unpolished unknown to potential star. Was disappointed in Caleb. He needs to concentrate on singing and quit acting all giddy about the smiling girls in the audience. Hope he did enough to stay. I am not into diva types at all, so Ada does zero for me. Marcio did better than I remember him doing before, but, yes, just move on from the sob story. Really loved Madde doing Brand New Key, but she's going to have to step it up. Sauce girl and Jurnee too. When Ron performed last, I thought it must be a really spectacular performance, but I didn't get it AT ALL. He just seemed to mumble and groan his way through it.
  14. I'm watching this with my husband, and we're not quite done with it. He grew up in Oregon and had family in Wasco County, so I watched this to humor him. I remembered it from my teens, but I didn't know a lot of the details. Boy, it is really gripping. Definitely a binge watch. I used to love documentaries, but then they seemed to become more propaganda than the unbiased documenting of events that I grew up on, and I lost interest. This reminds me of the documentaries of old. It's just letting the people on both sides tell their story and letting the viewer decide. I am so excited just about that.
  15. I've seen this case covered before, but I'm still amazed at how just having the description of a silver Prius, LE was able to figure out who it was through technology. If the neighbor hadn't happened to see the car, they totally would have gotten away with this. Even though Wendy's family has got off scott-free so far, at least the actual shooters are in jail. I too really wonder why they can't get the girlfriend to flip. Maybe they're still paying some hush money.
  16. I agree with the consensus that Carter and Ty did a much better job this week than Hildy and Doug did last week. Ty did something that reminds me of the critiques on Project Runway when they say that the designer made a creation that looks expensive. Or in Trading Spaces' case, at least not cheap. And with that huge room, that was an accomplishment. Boy, Paige was extra effervescent in some of her scenes with Ty. She doesn't usually bug me, but she was acting like a school girl with a crush on her older brother's friend.
  17. I don't have much to say about this other than my heart goes out to those poor parents. I don't now how the mother lived with the "would've, should've, could've." I think this case was part of the start of helicopter parenting and the end of free-range children. Damn sad that a kid can't try out being a big boy by walking to the bus stop all by himself. Don't really know what to think about the conviction. Still feels like there's some question and always will be.
  18. I was really disappointed in the critique, or lack thereof, last night. It's just becoming a judge tongue bath like The Voice, which I can't stand and always fast-forward through. Cade is in desperate need of constructive criticism, IMHO. He is one note and verging on becoming boring and predictable. He has one speed. I thought his duet partner totally outdid him. I was happy to see Layla go. I thought she had improved, but her cutesy, aw shucks shtick was getting on my last nerve, just as much as Catie's quirky shtick. I would not have missed her either. And for the most part, I won't miss any of the others they sent home.
  19. This is my big question that Dateline didn't touch on at all! If she was never alone, why did they lock her ass up for over a year and totally disregard the testimony of the persons she was with? Reminds me of Game Night.
  20. That makes more sense. I just remembered they were talking about the dresser and Doug said he would give Carter a quarter of his budget.
  21. Right? I'm always flabbergasted when someone from law enforcement says a person of interest passed a lie detector so that cleared them as a suspect!
  22. I watched a lot of the marathon that ran before the premier, and I was so tired of cheap, tacky, ugly design. I was looking forward to the updated version, but I swear those designs would have fit in with those of 15 years ago. Surely $2,000 spent on a tiny room could yield much nicer results. I mean, $500 for Carter to build a dresser? You could have found something just as nice or nicer for much cheaper ready made and used some of that money for nicer fabrics or accessories. I totally get what people upthread are saying about being tired of the same old, same old by Property Brothers, the Gaines, etc, but what I loved about the early days of the original show was showing real people how they could make unique spaces they loved on a budget. This just seems to me to be mocking people who can't afford the big budget renos. Maybe I'm just wanting this show to be something it isn't. Can they bring back Design on a Dime?
  23. Wasn't the cop who thinks she's guilty that same dipstick that gave JD his "get out of jail free" story? He was sitting there saying, "This is what I think happened." JD didn't even have to come up with his own story. The cop gave it right to him - the story about JD parking with Robin and Katie coming up on them. And if Katie's son with her every minute, did they even ask the son if his mom drove to where they were and confronted the couple? I didn't hear anything about that.
  24. I'm so happy that Alyssa said she chooses clothes that she has an emotional connection with. That explains a lot.
  25. Yeah, I thought the phone-breaking thing was weird. I would have a word or two to say to my sister or BIL if they broke one of my children's phones. Anyway, another one of those cases where people just slip through the cracks somehow until the family realizes and police are finally notified and have to play catch-up. I think we all know that the odds are not good that she's alive, or if she is, she's not in a good situation.
