Man, what a good series! I'm hooked. At first, I thought Amy and Daniel were dead and had to sort their shit out before being let into the gates of the heaven. The crows definitely leaned into some spiritual connections between the two. Overall, if this is a one and done series, then well done! However, I hold out the hope for a Season 2.

I love how this show is so subtle and allows moments to kind of happen organically. I wonder what Crowley's next move will be? Season 2 was fantastic! I'm surprised at the lack of comments here. This show is gold and i'm here for it. Alfred goes back to Sandra. Does he really love her or is he kidding himself? I kinda feel like his heart closed up when Esme died.

I wonder if Kim has a breaking point in all of this? She is "Breaking Bad" right now but with Mike telling her that she and Jimmy are being tailed by his men because Lalo is actually alive, I don't know. That whole scene seemed eerie to me. Foreshadowing Kim's eventual return from the side of the Wicked or ... she'll go all in and lose her life to the Salamanca tribe. What do you all think?

Emily hands down! Mia the barrel racer was fun and all but Emily was so sweet and sincere. Rugged cowboy Jimmy is way hotter than meth-head Jimmy. I'm rooting for Jimmy.... not gonna lie.

Recently watched this show and it's had me thinking ever since. I finally get it. I think the issue with how the show was written is that they never gave us time to really digest how Eric felt. There was too much focus on the physical sex. We didn't see his emotional trauma unfold fully. We saw glimpses of it. We saw more trauma with Claire than Eric, imo. He was constantly shut down and shut out by Claire. Anytime he wanted clarification for himself, she would manipulate the situation to get the best outcome for her. He sat there completely confused and unsure of how to fix things after it all fell to shit. He took emotional responsibility for her well-being. It wasn't HIS responsibility, it was hers. Why didn't anyone tell him that? Why didn't anyone make him a priority after the fall-out? Claire focused solely on herself the whole time. She never thought about how it affected Eric, not even a little. She projected onto him and used his own trauma to bond. Whether she knew that was the outcome or not... that's what it was. Let's also say that Eric's mom, leaned on Eric like one would lean on a husband. Eric's home responsibilities were a lot. So, he was used to taking on a huge amount of responsibility at a young age. He was probably more in-tune with what others needed than what he himself needed. He was left essentially on his own emotionally, because people just didn't get it. The guys his age wanted to hear about how "hot" the sex was. How could he even begin to explain his very adult feelings to his friends who were too immature to understand? It's actually less about the physical act of sex and more about the very grown-up intimacy that Eric was subjected to by someone who had no intention of falling in love and staying in love with him. For Claire, he was exciting. A solution to a dull marriage. There was one point near the end of their time together where she kept demanding he look into her eyes when they were having sex. That was a terrifying moment in my opinion, because that created an emotional bond that was soon torpedoed to hell. Of course this kid is gonna have problems reconciling the fall-out. Of course he is! Where the f*ck was his support?! Where the f*ck was his mom when he needed her? Everyone on the outside is like hurr hurr hurr.... sex with an older woman = hot. They didn't think about how very emotionally intense this affair got. The teacher-friend saying "abuse of power" after Claire's confession. Now listen, her physical reaction was good but the words used to describe what happened was shit imo. The writing could have been a hell of a lot better to convey. I don't even think Claire was self-aware enough to realize what she did, at first. She was thinking about it from a very elementary point of view. He's 18! Physically it's legal!! She's so f*cking self-involved. Interesting that dad brought up Al-Anon because I think she needed that for sure. I wish we had gotten a full hour for the ending. I wish Eric had more time to confront Claire. I wish we had seen the emotional fall-out in those 10 years from Eric's perspective and experience and not just the cliff-notes version.

This was a filler episode for sure but I actually loved it. Gabriel and Aaron together, drunk and playing poker is comedic gold. Interesting, when Gabriel said he admired his priest for always knowing the right words to say to comfort people and that he didn't have that gift. However, he was able to get the guy to drop his gun and cry tears of redemption or relief before ultimately killing the crazy bastard. Aaron's look of horror afterwards spoke volumes. Gabriel did what he felt he had to do. It's so crazy because the world we are in today, wouldn't allow for that at all. Kindness first -- well I'd like to think that most people are good. However, the apocalypse changes things. Does the whole "only the strong survive" mean the world would be full of thieves and murderers if this happened irl? That gave me something to think about.

So this wasn't the most action-oriented episode but I thought it was good. Rue finally came out to Ali with what was weighing on her. True thoughts and feelings were shared. Very therapeutic overall. I wasn't sure if Rue was really living with Jules or if that was like a dream sequence. Only because when she was talking with Ali, she avoided Jules' "I miss you" message. Man, Zendaya is such a good actress. I very much look forward to watching Season 2.

Agreed! I've been enjoying the build-up so far. Aya Cash does such a great job at playing a morally crappy character. I enjoy watching Stormfront! We're going to see Homelander either bend the knee or team up with her to rule The Seven, I bet. This episode made it quite clear that The Seven aren't united on any front at this point, other than in the public eye. I'd like to think that there is potential for Starlight and Queen Maeve to create a new team. Speaking of...my heart goes out to Maeve. Not only was she outed on TV, now she has to worry about the safety of her love interest / friend. Homelander is such a creepy and sadistic mofo; I am here for it! It's going to be all the sweeter when his ass (hopefully) gets taken down at some point. Butcher and his wife -- it seems pretty damn certain that she was raped by Homelander. It was good to see Hughie, MM, and Starlight bond during the trip. Frenchie and Kimiko have great chemistry. Looking forward to seeing that arc. It seems like he needs to be saved from himself. I have not read the comics, so have no prior knowledge of these characters, which is probably a good thing. I can imagine if you enjoy the comics, then you might not enjoy the direction the show takes.

The finale was kind of meh but it does set us up for next season. I believe a lot of what Midge said could be PR-spun as stars being super particular about their public appearance, expected diva behavior, and so forth. The ruby slippers comment definitely put the nail in the coffin imo. The audience could very clearly draw the line from the ruby slippers to the old "friend of Dorothy" reference, which I believe was a known / popular phrase around the time of Mrs. Maisel. Still, I loved the energy between Shy and Midge. Ugh, I'll miss seeing Shy, Reggie and the gang next season. I'm hoping those crazy kids patch things up. 😞 I'm not a fan of Jane Lynch or the character Sophie Lennon, so i'd be totally fine if they dropped this storyline next season. They probably won't and Sophie Lennon will come crawling back to Susie. I'm curious if the money-loss from Susie's gambling will be a fore-front issue next season, as I assume Midge may not be able to give Moishe the down payment for the apartment? I know this isn't a popular opinion BUT... as much as I love Mai, she's basically a shorter version of Midge and so I see her as a rebound. She's beautiful, driven, educated, sassy, funny. Joel definitely has a type. I believe that both Joel and Midge will begin to grow up and this starts them on their paths back toward one another. It's kind of nice to see Joel taking responsibility and not letting the women in his life run it for him. It's also nice seeing Midge realize that life is not meant to be perfect. Not everyone has a fairy tale marriage or fairy tale life and that there are lots of gray areas. We see that Midge has to know when to draw the line, a lesson that she's learning slowly in spades after this season. We also know that Midge's independence is more important to her than any relationship at this point. Dr. Benjamin was nice (always love seeing Zachary Levi) but I do see where he could eventually get tired of her being on the road. Also, Joel is a safety net right now. She's revealing all of the imperfections to him and he still loves her. I think this is going to play into how they grow as people and eventually get back together. With that said, if Joel marries Mai and Midge ends up with the gorgeous Lenny Bruce, I won't be sad about it.

Akshay is kind of a mystery. We know he loves his mom. I didn't see much passion in him as a person. Even with his cousin, though he came alive a bit more around her, he was still very mechanical. I didn't get love vibes between the two of them so much as she was excited to be on camera. That girl is a force and I love it. He doesn't seem to be on board with marriage at all. He basically left the work up to his mom, who told him that she would pick someone for him if he didn't make the choice himself. It seemed like his life at college was very mundane as well. He buried himself in books and stayed pretty focused on education. Relationships were a distant thought if a thought at all tbh. He mentioned to his cousin that he had been in some relationships before but he mentions this so nonchalant, that it appeared those relationships didn't really make a difference in his life. It seems that his mom's overbearing presence made it difficult for him to mature into a man (let alone be his own man), so that has him psychologically and emotionally stunted or so it appears. I get that this is a television show and so some of this is heightened or downplayed due to producer preferences but his story kind of bothered me because it seemed like he's essentially being forced into this whether he wants it or not. Plus, his brother and sister-in-law are on a baby timetable apparently, so a nice bit of extra pressure added to his shoulders. Shit...maybe he's just zoned out because all of this is so overwhelming.

He's bubbly, which I love! My impression is that he's determined to be the opposite of what his father is/was. Also, i'm sure some of what we saw could have been compensation to overcome some self-conscious feelings over his family history. This in addition to being hyper aware that he is on camera. I wondered throughout his story if this was his idea or his family's idea. To me, he seemed like an individual who would go for a love marriage. Who knows, maybe he's always yearned for something more traditional. His mom seemed very sweet.

YES! I loved Japril as a couple more for the potential and the chemistry than the actual storylines. They were never really in sync. He'd say black, she'd say blue. Before her wedding she asked Jackson to give her a reason not to get married. He stayed silent. Then, on the wedding day, he stood up and declared his love for her. After that, it was good for a hot second until they lost baby Samuel. Then, it was back to the same black/blue/opposite pages. Both are accomplished surgeons and able to communicate with their patients very well but with each other, there always seems to be a communication block. I'm doing a rewatch of the show and have to say that it's so frustrating but also now understandable why they didn't end up together. IF Sarah comes back to the show, I would love to see Japril rekindled and together as healed adults. I can actually see April losing her virginity during an adrenaline high and alcohol. She was willing to part with her virginity when she briefly had a fling with Alex. I hated the way Alex handled that but at least his asshole nature put a stop to it when she wasn't truly ready. The show wrote her as having a very childlike relationship with her faith. When Matthew's wife died and through a conversation with the Christian teen who broke his own hand to keep from masturbating, April realized what we all do at some point -- that sometimes there is no rhyme or reason why bad stuff happens to good people. Instead of reflecting on it maturely and reconciling her expectations with her faith, she acted out like a jilted teenager. Who knows, maybe that comes from so much time in school and less time for socialization. Still, I wasn't a fan of how the show handled that moment. Another moment that made me side-eye the show is when April wanted Jackson to kind of "pretend" that he was Christian / believed in God after they had gotten married in haste to make her parents feel more welcoming. To me... that kind of negates being a Christian. Far better to welcome a non-believer with open arms and warmth than to call them a heathen or be cold and judgmental.

I feel like this makes me old but the amount of sex and sexual violence they've shown between "teenagers" in the first two episodes makes me feel deeply uncomfortable. Yeah, I know it happens but geezus... I don't need to be hammered over the head with it every other scene. It's overkill and detracts from the story in my opinion. It's almost scene-chewing at this point. I think Zendaya is doing an incredible job in this. Her father's cancer diagnosis was the thread that unraveled her. I almost feel like the writers didn't need the extra step of the OCD diagnosis to show how neurodivergent her brain is. Someone up-thread mentioned this but she's more or less displaying manic depressive tendencies in between the highs. Nate is a curious character but makes me feel like i'm watching a young budding serial killer in every scene. He's totally unpredictable, has deep-seated anger and misogyny issues, has no problem with extreme violence and is overall just one creepy dude. After the barbaric beating (and whatever else) he gave Tyler, i'm really thinking this kid is about ready to make his first kill.

It feels a bit like a different show, doesn't it? Their success was kind of hard to watch, in that all of the characters felt very far apart in terms of their relationships. Everyone kind of "drifted". Pied Piper becomes the typical corporate structure. It made me sad, actually. Bighead never joins the group. He continues to be off on his own wacky adventure, this time with Jin Yang. These guys are basically being used as a prop so that Jared can find the next "Richard Hendricks" to nurture. I'm curious to see where all of this leads. They are exploring not only the darker side of tech but the darker side to success as well.

I was a little disappointed in the beginning that they weren't doing a true reboot. I was hoping for a BH90210 morph's into the new Melrose Place kind of thing. I like the current storylines and it seems like each of the "heightened" cast members are playing a cross between themselves and their character on the show. Even the storylines are hitting cross-domain between reality and television. Ex: Jason moving in with Gabby temporarily after leaving his wife? That's something I could picture Brandon and Andrea doing. Jennie bitching about Shannen but welcoming her back into the fold and Tori being fairly neutral? That seems pretty much like Brenda, Kelly, Donna to me. The Tori and Brian moments show chemistry and kind of reminiscent of David and Donna. What we got is pretty entertaining so far. Hoping it gets picked up for a Season 2.

I enjoyed that interview thoroughly! I especially love Terence Howard's explanation of how different people communicate. Very thought-provoking.

I am sad that next season will be the last for the show. Empire has become one of my favorite shows. I love the cast, writing and music. This sucks. :(

Dee, I see what you are saying here. Things like this should not be taken into consideration when someone else has an attack. However, it seems like it does somewhat. For example, I was on a Reddit forum recently where there was talk of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements. Men would tell their stories of being wrongfully accused of sexual harassment and rape. Not knowing these men personally, other men chimed in as being sympathetic and wholeheartedly believed that these accused-men were innocent without having both sides of the stories. As a result, their consensus was that they would never hire women because of the potential of being falsely accused of rape and sexual harassment. As if false accusations are the norm. Not even taking into consideration that this stuff DOES happen and happens more often than people want to even admit. #MeToo and #TimesUp just shed light on this and made it feel safer for people to admit. Jussie's indictment casts a bit of a shadow, even though it shouldn't.

I am new to this Empire forum and a huge fan of the show. Jamal is one of my most favorite characters on the show. I am so sad that Jussie felt he needed to do this for whatever reason and like everyone else, the question on my mind is "why"? Was it a political activist move? Did he do it to put himself in the spotlight? On one hand i'm mad because it has the potential to cast a shadow on REAL homophobic, racist, and politically motivated hate-attacks. As a country trying to right the wrongs, we don't need that. Jussie is hugely talented in my opinion and I have followed him and the other members of the Smollett family since Mighty Ducks and On Our Own. This whole thing is so sad and ridiculous.

I thoroughly enjoyed Season 1 of this series! If Beck could have continued her facade for a bit longer, she might have been able to make it out alive. Everyone assumes that Candace was killed but what if she wasn't and took off to Europe as Joe said? He probably kept social media tabs on her and was able to find her easily when she changed her last name. It seems like she went into hiding and maybe came back to expose him. Let's say Beck and Joe's break-up was permanent and that they never got back together. He'd have no reason to kill her but he would keep tabs on her, while still dating Karen. He only killed Beck because she found out about him and couldn't accept him as a result (and rightly so) or so it seemed. During the season, there were these weird moments where Joe seemed oddly accepting of his fate with Beck. I can't tell if he would have continued with his obsession until he found someone else or if the obsession would have played itself to lend to Beck's death anyway. Most of the characters were not very likable in a traditional good-guy versus bad-guy kind of way. They were all pretty flawed. I'd say that Peach was most similar to Joe and had some sociopathic tendencies herself. Which, is why she and Joe didn't like one another. It was a "takes one to know one" kind of scenario. Their scenes together were the most fascinating, imo. My heart broke for Paco. He's exposed to and is part of these terrible and horrible events, which are likely formative to who he becomes in later years.

If this spoiler is true and it seems that it is... I can't say that it surprises me that Michael's character will be killed off. The narrator had been dropping some ominous hints since season 1 that this would eventually happen. The surprise factor for me is that it is going to happen this season. They could have killed Michael off at the end of last season and then we would have this season to recover. However, by keeping Michael alive and now killing him off later on in the season means that they only kept him alive for the fans of Michael and Jane so that she could lose her virginity by him. Now as for the character of Michael, truly there isn't too many other things they could do with him that wouldn't involve breaking him and Jane up. Still, what about Jane's cousin and Rafael? They haven't even wrapped that storyline up yet. So, the 4-year time jump seems a little awkward to me. If that is what the writers intend to do.

An entertaining first night as always! I don't follow this show loyally and usually only tune in when a lead seems interesting. Ben Higgins and Brad 2.0 have been my favorite Bachelor seasons so far. I didn't watch Chris Soules season because I really really wanted Ari from Emily's season to be crowned The Bachelor. Is it just me or does both Chris and Sean seem asshole-ish? Josephine reminds me of Jacqueline (sp?) from Ben Flapjack's season. What was up with the red dress overload? Was that producer-driven? Dumb dumb dumb, if so. Rachel, Taylor, Vanessa & Raven are my favorite contestants thus far. Poor Taylor should have opened with something different than telling him that her friends think he sucks. NIck actually comes off slightly douche to me. However, he has sweet moments and I think he is a romantic at heart, so i'm pretty stoked for this season. I don't get the Villain edit he received in season's past. Though my first encounter with him was on Kaitlyn's season, not Andi's. Liz is totally "wrong reasons" girl (though in reality, aren't they all?). I was surprised she got a rose and wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't last but another week or two. Looks like we are in for a fairly good season!

Snow, those were my thoughts too. I actually enjoy the British-based episodes more. Probably because of my love of history and different eras in time but I really enjoyed this one! They made it easy to depict the different decades. I kind of felt like both girls were doing a little exploration and finding who they were. Kelly had 49+ years with her husband but her life with Yorkie had only just begun. When the older version of Kelly said "Well alright then" at the end, I knew she had made her decision. The idea that you can choose your afterlife is interesting to say the least! Not the first time this show has dealt with the concept of consciousness. I can honestly say that I don't know if I would have picked San Junipero if my deceased family and friends weren't there to greet me.
