  1. That happened to me too - I only got part of the 2nd episode. HOWEVER, since I knew the listing was screwed up I checked later on and even though it wasn't listed I tuned in just in time to see the rest of the 2nd episode (the elephant one). The listings have really been a mess this season.
  2. James' recitation of the poem (A Red, Red Rose) as he was riding the bus away is one of the most beautiful things I've heard lately. With his oh-so-lovely accent and the feeling he put into the words it gave me chills. I've replayed that scene a number of times.
  3. I'm having a hard time focusing on the story due to Nicole Kidman's odd look. Her mouth is so weird. Why do these women do that to themselves?! OT - I saw Cher on the Graham Norton show recently and she just looked grotesque!
  4. I noticed that too, but IIRC earlier in the episode Siegfried (or maybe it was James) made some comment to the farmer at one of the prior visits about the difference in the climate between the farm and the surgery, specifically commenting on the snow. I'm just worried about the boy's Granny - was she left to live on her own in the little hole in the wall?
  5. I wondered about that also. I tried to listen closely for an accent and didn't think she had a Russian one. Also, I may be misremembering, but I thought ealier in the series when he referred to his family being in danger he mentioned parents, and maybe aunt/uncle, but I didn't think he mentioned a wife. Does anyone remember if there was a mention of a wire earlier?
  6. What the strikers did should be considered criminal. They removed access to all the spacesuits, effectively trapping (kidnapping?) everyone inside the hub. What if something catastropic had happened and everyone needed to evacuate? And the removal of the primary bypass valve is criminal vandalism at the very least. Also, I've been trying to figure out how they got the injured personnel back to the main hub? Surely they didn't drag/push them through that long underground tunnel, but what other option was there?
  7. The Americans is my VERY FAVORITE series of all time, followed by Justified and then Patriot. The Americans is exceptional quality story telling, hitting all the emotions possible over the entire series. Cannot recommend it highly enough.
  8. The story of the Robber Baron is actually episode 3, not 2 (I had the same confusion until I watched the next ep). And only 3 eps have dropped so far, but it is a 7 ep series with an ep dropping each Friday.
  9. I wondered about that too. Since it obviously didn't affect his ability once they got to the crash site it seemed rather pointless and random unless there is some future blowback.
  10. I just finished streaming River (from 2015) and Lesley Manville and Michael Maloney (her boss Charles on Magpie Murders) are a married couple in it. He turns out to be a real shit in that show also!
  11. Well I didn't quite binge the whole thing but I did watch 6 episodes in one sitting. I kept meaning to stop but have no self-control! And yes, I also thought Christina Applegate could have passed for Amy Schumer, but of course the neck wrap was making her face look extra full. She is so brave to finish filming the series, and those of us who absolutely loved the first 2 seasons thank her very much.
  12. I really like Patty but I'm having a hard time figuring out her character. She always seems like such a sad sack, but the interior of her house/duplex looks really nice (although it's hard to see her with a whole wall of books - she's never struck me as very well read), and she owns her own salon, although we never see her or anyone else working, at least after the drug selling business in the first season shut down. Her circumstances make it seem like she has money or a good income from somewhere, but that doesn't seem to fit with her character. Oh well - I like Patty, hate Tammy, wish Allison would just get her act together and move on. Counting down.....
  13. Did Kevin say that he was in charge of the fireworks for the 4th of July? If so, why are they all wearing jackets? He caused the power outage by trying out the fireworks but surely they wouldn't be preparing so far in advance.
  14. That's EXACTLY what I thought when he said that! How can he keep an eye on them if he's busy working?

    S01.E07: Falls

Agree - that really bugged me. Surely they could have found young actors who bore SOME resemblance to the adult actors.
  16. I SO AGREE! I have started making a note of the time left in the episode when they start showing the final pieces so that I know how far to back up to see what the winning and losing pieces are. That is so irritating. Don't know why they can't just show the appropriate pieces as they announce the winner and the loser.
  17. Agree with your comments re: the difference to the book characters. It's been a long time since I read the books, but IIRC Leaphorn was the more progressive character, and Chee, although younger than Leaphorn, was the one trying to preserve the old ways. I believe he was trying to become a healer or a shaman, so it seems like they have totally reversed the characters for the TV show.
  18. I thought maybe that was Zoe in the trunk. I saw dogs (or at least A dog) in the back seat but I didn't see anyone in the passenger seat, and no one opened the passenger door when he stopped in the desert, so I thought maybe he had thrown her in the trunk (a) to keep her safe from being seen by anyone and (b) so he could shut her the hell up and get on their way.
  19. Agree about the Zoe character. Lady - either get a job or sell your house and downsize! And LEARN TO BALANCE YOUR DAMN CHECKBOOK!!! Quit complaing about the life direction you clearly contributed to. Waw waw waw. I was confused about why Dan was staying there. I thought he had placed a call earlier regarding a place to stay, and it seemed like it was code for safe house arrangements that were already set up. Maybe I read more into it and it was just a regular rental arrangement, nothing covert. Also, I thought it was his cell phone that he deliberately put into the microwave.
  20. I can't believe that you can issue instructions to destroy evidence with simply a phone call. How could the identity of the caller even be verified? Anyone could call claiming to be the DA and order that. Surely it would require a signed request in writing.
  21. I did not understand the purpose of the banging on the plumbing with the wrench either. I also thought he was trying to make a place to plant a bomb. Anybody figure out what that was about?
  22. It's not showing in the Phoenix area anymore. I plopped down in front of the TV at 4pm yesterday for my regular mid-day break of 25 Words or Less and low and behold they were showing stupid Judge Judy. The online TV listing doesn't list any showings in the PHX area in the future. DAMN! Although I wasn't crazy about the changes for the new season I was sick of reruns from the earlier seasons for the 47th time and was looking forward to new. UPDATE: Just found it in Phx on Channel 10 (Fox) at 1pm. Yay!
  23. Stands for "while we were away". In other words, what happened during the commerical break.
  24. I also don't understand why they would use an unpaid intern who makes copies and distributes mail (Maddie) to take notes during a witness/victim interview. I love this series and am willing to suspend disbelief for many things, but this just seems like very sloppy procedure. Would this really happen? Why can't the officer take his/her own notes or use recordings?
