  1. This is the biggest disconnect to me. Nova clearly doesn't seem like she's thriving, so why would you continually wish you had another little girl around to not care for properly? If anything, they should be wishing B&T could take Nova in, too! We see Nova toddling around in diapers, dunking plastic horses' heads into a glass of water (oooh, how fun!), and going to daycare. Never once have we seen C&T take her to a children's museum, or a playground, or even a damn Chuck E Cheese. That kid is probably bored out of her mind.
  2. Seriously!!! If not Carly, B&T would have eventually adopted another child as their first. Tyler is now acting like he somehow played god to these people, who at the time, were basically hand-selected by him and Cate and the decision seemed very mutual. By simply existing as human beings, B&T already have the "right" to be a parent. Anyone on this earth has that right. Does that mean everyone should? Of course not, but Tyler saying that is ignorant and rude, and honestly, kind of dumb.
  3. C&T are so damned delusional, and for everyone's sake, I wish they would stop beating themselves up for choosing adoption for Carly. I wish they would change their perspective a bit, and acknowledge that sometimes they have feelings of sadness or go through the what-ifs, but by and large made a totally respectable and appropriate decision. The disrespect they have for B&T is alarming. B&T couldn't have known when they filmed 16 and pregnant that these people would grow up to be ungrateful narrow-minded a-holes. Why did McKenzie and Ryan get married again? That dude has zero redeeming qualities. I cannot see how someone would think he is so great to be around that you want it to be your full-time life. Farrah is ridiculous. Why she enjoys berating her family members in public places on a regular basis is beyond me. I was only half-watching the preview for next week, and totally thought she put DebzOG on her wedding invites. I pushed rewind and was bummed to see that wasn't the case. Haha. For someone who seems so concerned about appearances, I'm surprised that Farrah allows Sophia to look like the girl from the Ring, and be filmed looking like that. For god sake's, someone get that girl a hairbrush.
  4. I didn't really appreciate Catelynn saying Carly is "standoffish" whenever they see her. I just don't think that's a fair term to put on a kid. It implies that she's doing it on purpose. She's not standoffish, she's probably just shy because she either doesn't fully understand who you are, or she does, but she feels a little awkward. Give the kid a break. Also, isn't MTV partially to blame for Tyler and Catelynn talking about her on camera? I mean they can film all they want, but knowing Brandon and Theresa don't want Carly discussed on a nationally televised shit show, you'd think they'd have their back on that and edit those parts out. Couldn't B & T send them a cease and desist or something? Ugh. Tyler and Catelynn need to MOVE the F ON. Honor your decision, be proud that you did what was best for Carly at the time, and that you gave her a wonderful life (as far as we know). They give adoption such a bad name, all the way around. They're showing adoptive parents that birth parents can be disrespectful and uncooperative, and they're showing folks who might consider giving a child up for adoption that they'll probably regret it and talk about it 24/7. I love how they think they did Brandon and Theresa a favor -- such a joke. Thank god for this forum. I no longer have to sit and actually watch the episode, I am now perfectly happy to just have it on in the background while I clean the house.
  5. Absolutely. And I'm a competitive hunter/jumper rider! Horse ownership is a huge undertaking, and sadly it is not uncommon for horses to get sick or injured and need to be put down with little or no warning (and that's worse case scenario -- plenty of injuries can result in the horse being unrideable for the rest of its life). I am glad horses have provided some good therapy for Catelynn, and it's great she got involved with them, but there are so many practical options that don't involve jumping directly into ownership. That being said, if they're keeping it on their property and have the money, that can be easier than boarding. And Catelynn doesn't appear to be employed or going to school, so maybe she has some time on her hands. Hope she is ready to get up at the buttcrack of dawn to feed her pony!
  6. Granted, I've never had a miscarriage (or been pregnant for that matter), but as a woman...I would have liked for Toby to just give Kate some space for the first day or two. I know everyone grieves differently, and although they are in it together, Kate has the additional aspect of having this affect her physically. I did like that Toby tried to discourage her from going to her gig. I get that she wanted to move on and not think about it, but getting up in front of people in public is different than like, running errands or something. Agreed. I find it highly unbelievable that one could just drive up to where they sort and load packages at a FedEx. Surely it would be gated, and would be accessible to authorized vehicles and individuals only. Otherwise how easy would it be for people to show up all the time and steal packages??? That being said, I did like that they showed a very modern scenario regarding the package delivery and the subsequent panic one might go through knowing you can't avoid it. But yes, they could have done this in a different way. Maybe that means he sits outside all day and waits for FedEx, or he could have left a note on his door saying he's refusing the package and to return it to sender. I guess that would't be dramatic enough for this show though.
  7. I think they will find a way to get the necklace back to Kevin, that would be so sad for that to be gone forever. Charlotte should have just thrown it out the window and been done with it. Now she's going to have to look at it for a while, figure out how to contact him or one of his family members, arrange a meeting or go to the post office and pay to have it shipped...haha.
  8. Yes, but the doctor didn't write the prescription, Kevin did. To me it seemed like they were trying to show that Kevin either doesn't know how they're written, or is so desperate he's going to at least try and get the prescription filled. Probably figures he can talk the pharmacy into it. If he'd stayed there, maybe those cops would have gotten involved, and one way or another at that point someone in his family would have found out.
  9. Before tonight, I was already a little weary of the Kevin/drug addiction story line. It felt overplayed, and like the writers needed to find SOME kind of ongoing conflict for Kevin. Watching this episode, I found myself thinking, multiple times, "How is it that NO ONE is noticing he has a problem??" And became further annoyed at this topic, because...SOMEBODY would have noticed by now. But, when I realized that that's the whole point...he's gotten this far into his addiction in a short amount of time with no one close to him noticing -- it's really heartbreaking. No one sees Kevin. Suddenly I don't totally hate this story line, I do think it works, it's just a little basic. I finally realized what bothers me about Sophie too -- the makeup dept used a very yellow foundation on the actress, which doesn't match her neck at all, and makes her face look unnatural. I'm surprised none of the makeup artists noticed this watching the older episodes -- should be an easy fix. Toby was actually likable in this episode. I even liked the "talk" with Jack and him telling Kate about it. Randall is the worst. Sometimes hard to believe it's the same character from last season (I blame the writing, not so much the acting. These guys can only do so much with what is written for them)
  10. At least his lips are (presumably) real. Haha.
  11. I believe they were recruited by the show for the first season, rather than the contestants auditioning/signing up.
  12. I can only half-watch this show now because I feel so bad for most of the kids, and I hate to be part of the enabling of garbage people to bring home decent paychecks for treating their families like crap. A few superficial notes: 1. Aubree's little raspy voice is so adorable 2. At first I wasn't a big fan of the name Watson, but having watched this season, I think that is a 100% perfect name for him. So cute! 3. Addie and Gracie are super pretty (I know we're not supposed to compliment little girls on their beauty anymore, and we're supposed to say how smart they are or how talented they are, but they don't show that kind of thing so I wouldn't know) 4. Addie was eating country crock off of a butter knife while I was eating cream cheese off of my finger, so...I can't judge ;) (then again I am a 32 year old woman capable of making my own poor health decisions) 5. #freemaryssa 6. UBT is absolutely going to murder someone, and if it's not Jenelle, she will somehow be involved. 7. I don't like the name Ensley, and as I was watching last night, I said "Ensley Eason" out loud...it's really not flattering. Poor girl.
  13. I haven't finished the episode yet, or reading this whole thread for that matter...and although I don't think it was written very fluidly, I totally buy Randall unloading on the hardware store guy. It's kind of as if Randall had gone into a bar and talked it out to the bartender (only big difference is bartenders expect that sort of thing, hardware store employee probably not so much). IDK, as a bartender and someone who has anxiety, I actually totally bought that scene, and I'm sure I've unloaded in a similar fashion to someone who wasn't expecting it, and when it may not have been totally appropriate. Not proud to admit that either, but Randall's anxiety issues in this episode are extremely similar to my own. So I see it.
  14. Yes, given that Kevin is supposedly doing very well for himself in Hollywood, pills shouldn't be difficult for him to get. If not from a doctor, from some fancy drug dealer, whether he's in LA, or NYC for that matter.
  15. Someone else pointed out on a different thread that last season, Kevin didn't have a cast in the funeral scene. But supposedly this season, he is in a cast when Jack dies. So conveniently his cast was removed in the few days between Jack's death and his funeral?
  16. This bothered me so much!! I've worked in the service industry for a very long time, and that entire scene was unrealistic. Unless you know the staff, or are even a paying customer in the very least, good luck getting the employees to play a song for you in the first place. Especially in LA. And pouring the water and then just bouncing was so rude and disrespectful. Again, he didn't appear to have purchased anything. The actual conversation at the cafe after the fact would be something like, "This guy came in with his wife, and he looked totally normal and wanted us to play a song for him. So we did, figuring he seemed like a nice customer, and he started dancing around, talking to the other patrons, came OVER the counter and then went behind it, and ended by pouring the water pitcher on himself and ALL over the floor. So if you guys see him come in here again, we need to ask him to leave." LOL. If I were Kate I would have been mortified. I can't say I really enjoyed this episode. My first thought when Kate told Madison was that Madison is now going to tell a bunch of people in the group before Kate is ready. Although, that would really derail the entire storyline and take away a lot of time from the main characters. Once I got over that thought, I thought the scene was kind of cute. Sure, Madison's a little over the top, but definitely a realistic LA personality. I know we're not likely to learn a whole lot about Madison's backstory, but I do wonder why she is in that group. On the surface is seems inappropriate to be there (and I think that's what the show wants us to think), but as many have said, she could have gone through a number of things to have chosen that specific support group. Also, I've never been pregnant, but don't most women wait until they're further along to start telling people? I get that they're just telling a couple of randos to get it off their chest (I would be the same way, I would HAVE to tell SOMEONE), but is this setting them/us up for heartache? Randall standing in the bathroom with Deja was so icky. I wish Kevin would have straight up said, "Randall, you can do a lot of things but you CANNOT go into the women's restroom!" I feel like everyone's always like, oh, hahaha, Randall's just going to do whatever he wants anyway, haha! But someone seriously has to talk to him about boundaries. Whether it's Beth, or Kevin, or anyone else. It's getting exhausting.
  17. I don't mean to go off-topic, but I totally agree with this statement. Whenever someone says it, I'm always like, "I don't think that means what you think it means." But then I realize I don't really know entirely what it means either.
  18. Is it just me, or does Thyme sound like a real-life bland version of Miranda Sings when she talks? Anyone know what kind of accent that is?
  19. I mentioned this in the main thread, but I'm wondering how the family transferred their old VHS home movies to DVD/Cloud when it looks like their house pretty much burned down to the ground? Would the VHS tapes not have been destroyed in the fire? I suppose they could have had a basement that wasn't harmed as badly, and someone else suggested maybe they were videos Kevin sent to colleges for recruitment. But, having sent my own videos to colleges for recruitment (in a different field), it was a more professional "highlights reel" type of deal, and certainly didn't include any of my family members hooting and hollering. Even if it were a recruitment video, that still would have been in the fire. Unless Kevin reached out to the colleges after the fact and got them back, which, considering he lost his father and all of his possessions, isn't a totally unrealistic idea.
  20. Seriously. Come on Kevin. You're an adult man. I know he's stubborn and determined, and obviously trying to avoid the painkillers, but surely he knows getting on the treadmill hours after surgery is probably not wise. That annoyed me. If I were Toby, I would have just been like, "Okay dude, you're an idiot, but you're also an adult and I can't stop you from doing things you know are stupid. Good luck with that!" I don't really know how addition works, but could he have disclosed to his doctors in private his concerns about the prescription pills, and talked about over-the-counter meds or even natural remedies that would be harder to get hooked on? I don't find Jack skeezy in the least, but sometimes when he has the mustache and his hair is greasy and stringy he does look a little oily, and the smirky face could add to that (I'm not hating, I know Milo had some kind of nerve damage around his mouth). I disagree with the skeezeball thing, but I could see how one would think that based on the styling they do on him sometimes. But Milo is hot, so whatev's. Hahaha. She definitely plays a little older, but you're right, probably due to developing earlier, and she could also be trying to portray that Deja had to grow up a little faster than a lot of kids based on her family situation. I'm sure she's had to take care of herself for a long time.
  21. I think we posted at about the same time, as I mentioned something similar in my (unintentionally) very long comment. I don't blame Beth for sharing the general idea of their conversation with Randall, as they are both her foster parents, but for gods sakes, she should have told him that middle schoolers are sensitive as it is, and no one else in the house needs to bring up her problems with her hair. It's amazing to me that Randall doesn't have the tact to know when to keep his mouth shut. People also mentioned before that fostering or adopting out of birth order is generally not a good idea. While I don't personally have children, I could see how this is a good idea. If Randall had already experienced the pre-teen years with his own daughters, then he probably would have more sense on how to parent Deja more effectively.
  22. Yes, kind of bad timing for this scene in light of recent news. When Randall said, "Daaang, girl!" I was like OMG you have got to be kidding me. If she had been with them longer, or if the two of them had any sort of rapport whatsoever, I could see that being cute, but in their present situations it was so cringy and borderline creepy. They just don't have that kind of a relationship yet. I can't really see the show going in this direction, but I hope he doesn't make more comments like that to the point where Deja files a complaint against him and they get in trouble.
  23. I agree with you on the Kevin/addiction story line. Shows also seem to do this with surprise pregnancies too, and, oh look -- Kate's pregnant! That didn't surprise me in the least. I can't say I saw it coming, but I definitely was not surprised. I had like, zero emotional reaction, other than, of COURSE she's pregnant. If it's not a boy named Jack, it will be a girl named Jackie. Or it will be a devastating and complicated pregnancy that ends tragically. I could see this going either way. Toby will be excited, and probably over-bearing. Shows do that a lot in the previews too, where one character announces she's pregnant, and we see the other person go, "Uhhh, what?" so that you think they might react negatively, and then in the actual episode, we see that they really say, "Uhhh, what? THAT'S AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Haha. I don't know how to quote multiple posts, but in response to whoever said that the actor who plays Toby really thinks he's created some dream guy -- I didn't read the article you mentioned, but it is true! I read another interview after the first season with Chrissy Metz and she was talking about Toby, and she was gushing about how perfect the actor is in the role, and how he's created this wonderful partner for Kate. Maybe a lot of things end up on the cutting room floor? Or maybe they have a rapport on set that doesn't translate onto tv? I'm stumped on that one. He also reminds me of an old boss who I couldn't stand, so Toby is a fail for me. Haha. The rest of the casting though -- spot on. Rebecca's mother not only nailed her scenes, but I would 100% believe she was actually Mandy Moore's mom if someone told me she was. So good. I loved the ending scene with her and Randall, and how young Randall handled it so maturely even after learning the truth about his grandma. And the actress who plays Deja is amazing too. When Randall was talking to her, and you saw her reflection in the mirror, I could see exactly what her character was thinking, and my heart slowly started sinking until she said, "She told you?" Ugh. So heartbreaking. Obviously Beth did the right thing in speaking to Randall, but she should have told him she thought she made some real progress, and for him to not mention anything. Although, she probably figured it was a no-brainer that he would bring up something so personal to a child he barely knows when he wasn't present for that conversation. I wonder if we'll see Beth lay into Randall at all for that one, or at least remind him when he needs to have a filter! He ended up making both of them look kinda bad in Deja's eyes. I am glad Randall is trying to use his experiences to inspire Deja, but they're way too preachy, long-winded and serious. And frankly, not all that relevant. Getting left at a fire station and adopted at birth is a lot different than being an adolescent with a single parent who is a criminal and obviously has provided a very unstable life for her thus far. I think if he talked about this stuff a little less formally, and a little less word vomit-y, he'd have better luck. And talking about his nervous breakdowns was totally inappropriate. Save that for later, or if it seems she's actually on the verge of one and really needs help. Not when she's still adjusting to her life with them. It's so frustrating to watch! When he came to her bedroom door, I just thought, "oh god, no." So cringe-y. Someone else also mentioned they have a hard time believing she's 12. I was thinking that too, but then I remembered 2017 12-year olds are a lot different than 1997 12-year olds (which is when I myself was 12). Such a different world. The internet says the actress is 14 now, so provided she was 13 during filming, it's about right. And the Jack videos at Toby/Kate's house....so, those would have been recorded on VHS originally, and transferred onto DVD or some other program, as has been mentioned. That in itself is legit, I suppose. But if their house burned down in a fire and it looks like they pretty much lost everything...how did the VHS tapes hold up in order for this to even happen? And the pausing on Jack's face before taking the pill -- that scene was a little corny for me.
  24. Just watched the end of this episode before the new one airs tonight. Did they remove the subtitles from Kaiser saying "feed me"? I swear I didn't see them in the re-run. Also, nice, Jenelle. "Kristen come push this button for me!!!!!!!!!" How about, "Hey, Kristen, I know you're helping with filming, but I can't figure out the timer on this camera and we're so behind. Could you please help me snap these pics? Thank you so much!"
  25. Yes! Kristina, Miranda, and Vee all win. I just can't stop thinking about Maryssa still, and how at 8 years old, her parent/guardian situation has been all over the place, and as if that wasn't enough, she now has cameras everywhere, in her home and whenever she's in the car. How irresponsible of David to sign off on that. Kristina's baby daddy got it right when he said no to their daughter being on camera. It's cute when they're little kids and you get to kind of see them grow up, but shoving an 8, 9, or 10 year old in the spotlight in this context is not right. It's confusing AF to the kids, not to mention there are creepy people out in the world and for the most part, all of these people seem to be living in small towns where it would not be difficult to track them down. I mean, Adam sucks, but at least he had the sense to be like 'enough is enough' with the show. And furthermore, I know it's been mentioned on here before -- it came up a lot on the last episode that had Ali's doctor visits, but it's becoming inappropriate for all of these kids to be on this show, really. At this point, they'd be doing all of these kids a favor by pulling the plug and doing a once a year special, where they actually focus on whatever good things are going on in these peoples' lives. And no more follow-ups with Dr. Drew. A lot of these kids already have pieces of shit for parents, the least MTV can do is stop filming before they hit puberty, FFS. I know the moms want the money, but surely they can figure something out that doesn't involve their kids. I am curious to see how Amber does without Matt. Leah is so sweet and smart, and I hope for her sake Amber can get it together. I don't think Amber is a lost cause yet, she's just been enabled for too long. It's just funny to me how this show started off looking at young moms and what a struggle it was for them. Then we got the first few seasons, and, okay, clearly they're not doing too bad financially with the show appearances, but it's still fun to watch them and the kids, and see them making big life decisions. Now it's like...WTF did I just watch? Find something new and interesting, MTV. Give these kids a break.
