  1. Hulu on a Roku checked out from my local public library. 😀
  2. Clear your browser’s cache and cookies (or use a different browser you don’t normally use, as was suggested). Should let you get a new round of free articles.
  3. It's all about the Benjamins. L.Ron has been quoted as saying something along the lines of "If you really want to make money, start a religion". I think this was covered in the documentary Going Clear as well as the biography of L.Ron Bare Faced Messiah.
  4. As I mentioned on another thread, the library I work at has Rokus for checkout. Some are loaded with Netflix, some with Amazon Prime Video, some with CBS All Access, some with Hulu, and some with HBO Now. I'll just check out one of the ones with Hulu. If all the Hulu ones are checked out, I'll ask if one of the other ones can be converted to Hulu. We have 18 Rokus in circulation, so we move services back and forth based on demand. For example, as Game of Thrones was wrapping up, we had a demand for our HBO Now Rokus. We had a number of Netflix Rokus just sitting on the shelf, so we took Netflix off those and added HBO Now to them to meet the demand.
  5. Yep. We have a bunch. Some have Netflix, some have HBO, some have Amazon Prime, and some have Hulu. They are also all loaded with an app (Vudu) where we've entered all the digital codes that come with the DVDs and BluRays we order for the collection, so people who check out the Roku also have access to an extensive movie library. We also have Chromecasts and Apple TVs people can check out, along with a bunch of other AV equipment, like digital converters and such.
  6. Is this going to be released like other streaming shows, where all the episodes are available to watch right away, or will it doled out in week-to-week bites? Also not a current Hulu subscriber. Just had to get CBS All Access because of the AT&T vs. CBS bruhaha. Even if CBS gets back on AT&T services, probably will keep All Access as I discovered that the entire back catalog of Trek shows is available to view as well as the forthcoming Picard show. Also have Netflix, not picking up yet another streaming service while paying for cable (only reason I haven't convinced my wife to cut the cord is that the Hallmark channels she loves aren't yet available on the cheaper streaming services). However, I work in a library and we have Roku's that have Hulu loaded on them. The library pays for the Hulu subscription, so when the time comes I'll have to get my hands on one of them by checking it out and bringing it home.
  7. Looks like the show survived "Black Friday". It wasn't on FOX's cancellation list that came out yesterday. Upfronts are soon, so we should have more news this week?
  8. TV Guide urges Fox to give The Orville a season three.
  9. Pinal County, AZ is also on a break, but they were just featured on 60 Days In. I wonder if they will come back. Sheriff Lamb seems like the kind of guy that enjoys doing these things. My wife met him IRL recently. Says he is super cool and funny.
  10. At TV by the Numbers, their "cancel bear" index has the show as a tossup for cancellation or renewal. It along with How to Get Away With Murder and The Kids are Alright receive this rating. All three are owned by ABC and How to Get Away With Murder has a lower rating than The Rookie. Splitting Up Together and Single Parents both receive a likely cancellation rating, neither of which are owned by ABC. I could see ABC letting this show have another season to see how it does. How to Get Away With Murder is getting long in the tooth (heck, I thought it shouldn't have seen a second season. I think the original premise was ridiculous. Also, I didn't like any of the characters on the show, but I digress). If ABC was looking to dump a scripted hour long drama, that's the one I'd pull the trigger on.
  11. I get a sense that the Kaylons are a mashup of the Borg and the Founders from Star Trek lore. Regarding the episode, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Wasn't messing with my phone, this had my complete and undivided attention. What a space battle! Last space battle that I can think of that was that epic in scope was the battle over Coruscant from Revenge of the Sith. Makes sense to me now why they've done a lot of understated character episodes this season, they needed to save their $$$ for the CGI work on these two episodes. So now that Kaylon Primary is deactivated, which robot takes their place? Are the Kaylon now leaderless? Will there be some kind of Kaylon civil war? It sounds like Kaylon Primary was their leader for a very long time, so was there a successor? Individual Kaylons have exhibited autonomy, unlike the Borg who were all slaved to the collection, so what do you all think?
  12. From what I've read, they buy local ad spots in markets where an org is located. I live in the Chicago area, and I thought there was an org in the city, but I didn't see the ad.
  13. IIRC, it was mentioned that those aliens were way more advanced in terms of technology and looked down on species not as advanced as they were, so we may never see transporter tech used by the less advanced species.
  14. It is still doing better than its lead in, Gotham, which is in its final season and on its last legs. With a stronger lead in show it might be doing better, but I would be more worried if it did worse than its lead in.
  15. In regards to letting all the Gilliacs go all at once, since this society has done everything in their power to prevent Gilliac births, I just assumed that there wouldn't be very many of them. As it was, the prison camp was minuscule in terms of population compared with the vastness of the city the crew flew over at the beginning. However, because there was such a deep seated cultural revulsion to those born under the sign would mean that not everyone - and probably the vast majority - would simply not accept them back into the general population so easily. I could see a form of Jim Crow type laws targeting Gilliacs being instituted by the Rigelians.
  16. Yeah, that is very fishy. Especially since programming is usually sent up to a satellite by the network and then the cable company pulls it down and delivers it to local customers over their lines, so something happened on the local providers end. I wonder if anyone who has satellite service (DirectTV; Dish Network) suffered similar outages of just A&E that evening?
  17. The rant against Brooke Shields was in the Matt Lauer interview, which led to Tommy’s comments about the history of psychiatry when Lauer started pushing back.
  18. Ron Miscaivige covers this in his book (if you don’t already know, he is Dave’s father). However, he doesn’t blame the tech, his main beef is with Dave and LRH’s policies that led to Dave’s reign.
  19. He was on Oprah's old talk show expressing his deep, deep lurve for Katie Holmes. He came off like a total loon. Shortly thereafter was the Matt Lauer interview debacle where he called Matt glib and claimed to know everything about the history of psychiatry and Matt knew nothing.
  20. The discovery phase of the trial would be glorious. The cult has always tried to avoid trials getting to the discovery phase because its then that the excrement hits the oscillating device.
  21. I enjoyed the hell out of this episode. That scene in Alara's bedroom between her and her father was the best piece of acting I've seen out the character, IMHO. I also like seeing two Star Trek doctor's as the guest stars. John Billingsly plays psycho very well. With what we've seen of how things don't necessarily get tied up in a neat bow on the show, I was expecting that they would actually go and lop one of Alara's sister's fingers off. Glad they didn't, but wouldn't have surprised me if they did. Loved the gift Alara left for Ed. Definitely got a chuckle out of me. Sad to see Halston Sage leave, but at least her character got a nice send-off and leaves the door open for her easily to return. I don't see Patrick Warburton listed in the cast credits on IMDB for upcoming episodes, so the character may have been a one-off. Looks like Jessica Szohr's character will be coming in episode five on January 24. They don't list a character name for her yet.
  22. The way Halston Sage left also leaves the door open to easily bring her back in the future. TNG had to figure out a way to get Denise Crosby back on the show and only once as her original character (Yesterday's Enterprise).
  23. Usually only the cable news channels and over-the-air broadcast networks carry presidential addresses. Run-of-the-mill cable networks like A&E, TNT, TBS, etc. typically don't carry these.
  24. Especially the part about how the church tried at the wedding to seat Leah and JLo at different tables not near each other, even though Leah was the entire reason JLo was there, as the church used Leah to invite JLo.
