  1. What kind of bad blood is there? And if it's the same production company how does that even happen?
  2. I've just started watching this show. I keep catching it on tv, at first I thought it was corny but then I eventually came around. It's fun, and I'm not even going to pretend that Callen/Hanna isn't a huge draw. Who knew that Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J would be so good together! I've caught up with this season, and just started a S1 binge watch. I'm always so late to the party.
  3. This has got to be the first winner that I absolutely disagree with. There were some real horrors in Erin's collection; the banana outfit and the one made last minute, with the ruffles around the waist. Yuck! And the red maracas skirt, what the hell was that. How can that basic-student-crafty rubbish win a design competition!? Roberi was robbed. He was the most creative and had the better looks. I also thought he was the most brave and bold not Erin. He mixed and used different materials, colours and looks in an interesting way. At first I didn't even like his collection. It was a mess. The outerwear jackets, with this lighter underwear. Then the shiny pink material. It was a real wtf from me. But he pulled it together, I enjoyed his runway the most. It was creative in more mature way when compared to Erin's student work.
  4. And over the coming decades, more and more people will live in cities/urban areas. So the issue of population disparity between states is going to grow.
  5. This is an interesting article that could perhaps be considered a companion piece to the Berlusconi one. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/nov/19/brexit-trump-left-crucial-flaw-leavers-alt-right-ruthlessness They raise different but good points. One thing about the centre-left that I can't abide, is the spinelessness and the constant need to "reach across the aisle", which is hardly ever reciprocated. The point about Comey is especially pertinent. So I'm in a conundrum. I think the left needs to be much louder, much stronger, hell even much uglier. But not in a counter-productive way.
  6. Interesting. This happened in the UK when the Tories took over. A bunch of reality shows based on benefit claimants and the poor popped up. Which turned into a huge issue about exploitation. Some production company also wanted to do a show about a street which now has a lot of immigrants. But the residents fought back. Many refused to participate and shut down production by making lots of noise during filming. So yes, look out for reality shows. You could suddenly see shows about "welfare queens", or something set in an abortion clinic.
  7. I think protesting policy and also marching for policy/candidates can be a good way to hit that sweet spot. His people want him to go on a victory tour knowing full well it will attract protesters. Which will galvanise their support base and distract from the more specific issues surrounding him. Like the current one were foreign diplomats are being encouraged to grease his palm by staying in his hotels. So I can definitely see the Berlusconi argument, this is something that needs to be balanced.
  8. No where in my comment did I even suggest that Dylan should "fall on his feet and worship at the altar of Norma". That's a massive ball of straw you have in your hand there. And I am well aware that Dylan's relationship with Norma is dysfunctional. It may be the reason for Dylan's own abusive behaviour, but I don't see it as an excuse. Dylan is not a child anymore. He's a 20 something guy, in a gang and who's killed someone. Like most adults, he has agency and choice. And with Dylan I see an angry hurt guy, who has chosen to move into his mother's home to torment and abuse her because he feels aggrieved at how she treated him. He feels like Norma owes him. I don't see someone protecting himself, I see a bitter guy lashing out at every opportunity. There are kitchen scenes that remind me of the Johnny Depp video. Dylan stalking around the cupboards, shouting, being angry and belligerent. Emotionally and verbally abusive. He's no peach and as character he adds little to the story.
  9. I'm now at the point where Dylan is mad at Norma for having him. rme He's mad at her for getting pregnant from the abuse, and not telling her brother but instead convincing her then boyfriend that Dylan was his son, which helped her get out of the abusive household. Why is he mad at this? Since he arrived, he's just been stomping around being angry at her, never showing any understanding despite learning about all this abuse that she suffered. Yeah, we get it, she's troubled and he likely had it rough, but c'mon, it's not all about you Dylan! You learn your mother has been raped, and all you do is attack her. Charming.
  10. I started watching the show, currently at S2E2, and I can not stand this boy. His whole attitude to Norma is so annoying to me. Yes, she is clearly not the best mother, but if that's the case then at 20 odd years of age, you don't have to move in with her and give her grief. I hope he does move out soon, he's a brat who I hope dies.
  11. I agreed with the top two, though I would have given the win to Dexter. Both seem pretty cool personality wise, so they're currently my favs. Ian's design was boring and he had an obnoxious personality, so goodbye. I liked what Jenni, Tasha and Roberti created. Though I'm glad the judges said Roberti's was too typical because we have indeed seen that design many times. Mah Jing was stupid for going ott over the flowers. He didn't even use the one that he got. Birk seems like a sweetheart, though not very talented. It was a decent runway, so hopefully it's a sign that this season will have some good designs.
  12. What a snoozefest! I'm normally a fan of Angela, but I just did not care for her scenes, or where her story seems to be going. And Dom is a character I can do without. I don't want to see her mastrubate or talk to Alexia. Her scenes are so meandering and dull. The best characters were absent. Where was Darlene? I assume she's still alive, and she's the one Dom wants to interview. Things really picked up when Elliot switched places with Mr Robot and was the observer, that was cool. As was watching them decipher the code. Tyrell is finally back, but I'm worried he's a persona. I also thought the way he was dressed was weird. If he's been in hiding, why be suited up? I'm still going to hope that he's real. It seems the actor is going for a more American accent, which is a shame. His accented voice is better and suits the character more.
  13. I don't think I can watch this show week to week. I binged from the start to E9 this season, and having to wait for the last two episodes is so frustrating. More and more I'm waiting for shows to reach S2 before I even begin watching. So I'll probably skip S3 until the last episode. It's so much more fun to watch a show like that. Anyway, I've no idea what S3 would be about. Obviously phase two will factor, but maybe Elliot will turn on DA/Whiterose after Darlene's attack.
  14. I don't mean it was their overall primary goal, but between revenge and making Tyrell CTO, the latter was fsociety's main goal. They primarily framed Colby to get Tyrell to CTO, not as revenge. For sure Darlene may have been thinking about revenge, but she's not privy to the whole plan just as the others aren't, they all have their own motivations. I see fsociety as Mr Robot's creation, so really, his motives are the ones that matter. So I think he bargained with Whiterose to get rid of Colby in exchange for DA taking down Ecorp's Chinese server. That may have been the hold up. DA/Whiterose wouldn't go ahead with 5/9 before Tyrell secured the CTO position. In the end, because Ecorp were multiplying their servers, they were forced to go ahead anyway otherwise miss the window. Elliot used the Angela incident to rationalise Colby's framing, but really, we see fsociety already framing Colby before Elliot even joined. So it must have been something Mr Robot/Elliot already planned.
  15. I wondered this too, it can't be normal to have empty carriages in NY. They should have had one or two extras, but maybe it highlights how that scene was some sort of setup.
  16. I hope Elliot reaches a point where he can control his Mr Robot personality. That the two eventually blend into one new united personality that is the real Elliot.
  17. I've theorised something similar. Only Tyrell is not meant to bring down Ecorp, but take them over. Remember the scene where government officials wanted Price to resign? Well Tyrell was supposed to get the CTO position so that when Price is forced out due to 5/9, Tyrell becomes the head of Ecorp. This is Whiterose's plan and why she's working with Elliot. She wants control of Ecorp and phase two is getting her plant Tyrell to the top. It was Mr Robot who encouraged Elliot to frame Colby, which then left the CTO position vacant for Tyrell. I think the show misdirected the audience with the idea of revenge for Elliot's father dying, when fsociety's real primary goal was getting Tyrell to CTO. This would explain Tyrell and Mr Robot's allies conversation. And also Tyrell's job offer to Elliot. "You know, Evil corp has just named me interim CTO, it won't be long until it's official. I will be the youngest CTO this company has ever seen. I should track down these hackers out there just to thank them." I also think the show draws similarities between Tyrell and Price. They've both commented on wanting to be god-like. The Congo scene in Price's office was very marked. I expect Tyrell to be sitting in that chair at some point.
  18. When Elliot called Tyrell from the prison phone, Tyrell said he's not yet where he's supposed to be. Assuming the call was real, and not Elliot imagining things, it didn't sound like he was being held hostage. It seemed that he was on route to somewhere. I think he sent the phone to Joanna because he knew she'd have to get Elliot involved, and then he'd be able to communicate with Elliot. I'm with the theory that Mr Robot spoke to Tyrell when the call came in the store. And then later Elliot gave the bodyguard a fake address, but it's all up in the air. I assume his whereabouts will be known in the next episode. I too hope he's still alive, but his it's hard to imagine the reveal living up to the suspense of his season long absence.
  19. That's an interesting possibility. I believe Elliot gave Sutherland the wrong address, so the museum is a good guess for Tyrell's real whereabouts.
  20. lol I found it interesting that fsociety's main security measure was to meet in person. I'm not sure if the story about another hacking group getting caught because they only communicated via technology was true, but it seemed very plausible.
  21. Even before the murder, I was never a fan of Darlene. She bugs imo. The murder is a bit much I agree, and it messes with the tone of the show, because it undermines the significance of Tyrell being a killer. They should have left it as him being the only one capable of such an act. Right now, his killing is actually the lesser of two evils because at least he was out of control when it happened. Darlene's was far more calculated and deliberate. Yet the story goes on as if it's no big deal, after all the woman laughed when Darlene was four. And yes, her hitting Cisco with a bat is another thing. It's like the show really downplays her violence.
  22. The hacking stuff on this show is scary. I wouldn't want a house so dependant on technology, like that lawyer's. Even the increasing use of software in cars gets me jittery. And ngl, I taped up the camera on my laptop because of this show. It's something I was concerned about prior, but the stuff about Angela/Ollie getting hacked gave me the push. There are various devices out there to use, but in the end I bought some black masking tape.
  23. I've just started watching this show. I've binged my way to S2E05 and of course I'm confused about some stuff. Namely Mr Robot/Christian Slater and Elliot. In S1 we see Slater talking directly to other people, he's in the car with Tyrell for example. So he's not just in Elliot's mind, he also represents Elliot? All the times Slater has interacted with other people, that was really Elliot? Which leads me to Tyrell. When they're in the car, he says to Slater that they're supposed to be allies, it's like they've met before. I originally thought Slater and Tyrell were acting in collusion. That maybe Slater had also recruited Tyrell to fsociety, unbeknown to Elliot and the rest. But if Elliot is Slater, what does this conversation mean? Tyrell also said he knew Slater/Elliot's dirty little secret. He threatened to tell the others if Elliot didn't let him in on the big plan. So they must know each other, no? It seems they've met prior to when the viewer first saw them at AllSafe. Tyrell knows stuff about Elliot, but didn't know about fsociety. I also wonder what is Elliot's secret. It has to be something that no one, not even Darlene knows.
  24. I haven't seen any critiques, but I don't know why it would be "bitchy" to discuss such things. At the very least, from a world building pov, it will be interesting to see how Wakanda and Black Panther are actually portrayed.
