  1. That is so true. For years I wore my hair in a between chin and shoulder length bob but I had to abuse with a straightener because otherwise it looked like I had a pyramid on my head. Then one day I went to a great stylist who talked me into allowing her to put a few long layers in and it was a game changer. It doesn't look like I have layers because they blend so well and I not longer am a pyramid head. About the makeovers, At least they're never as bad as some of Tyra Banks' makeovers on America's Top Model!
  2. My daughter's old piano teacher is from Monroe, LA and he's been here in Maryland for at least 15 years. But he still sounds like he just stepped from the Bayou!
  3. No matter how well educated I am or how many states and countries I have lived in, my Pittsburgh accent is never more than two gin and tonics away. Also, I love listening to KaShara talk. I enjoy her accent! Okay, I definitely laughed at the thought of the group grunting in unison out on the field! I don't mind that move, though. I think that it definitely emphasizes the booties but luckily the booties look very good!
  4. This whole thing with some of the judges practically swooning over VK just seems so so so weird to me! MAYBE I could understand Kelli crying over VK's solo because she's known and loved the girl her whole life. If that's it, it makes sense. I can't imagine a trained dancer who has been working with other trained dancers for the past 34 years would be moved to tears by VK's performance. As my aunt would say, it wasn't all that and a bag of crackers. Brenda looked like she was heading into some kind of seizure after VK's solo. All I can say about that is WTHeck??? VK had said the dance was something along the lines of the story of her wanting to become a DCC. Did that imagery "make (her) heart grow three sizes that day"? (thank you, Dr. Suess) That was the weirdest thing I've seen on this show and there have been LOTS of weird things throughout the seasons. Oh, and I love Marshall and his side eye. I like that weatherman more and more. During deliberations on Dayton, he said, "She could replace a veteran today." But, of course, no one else had the nerve to praise "The Lesser Legacy". Either that, or it just wasn't shown on the show. Speaking of the weatherman, he also had the temerity to not go into paroxysms of praise over VK. "She's just messy to me," he said. And something about being a "wild child". And I thought how it was really weird that Jay piped up with, "I liked that! Just let her out of the gate and she's gone!" Yes, because the DCC is all about allowing a dancer to just do her own thing. Has anyone ever noticed that certain DCCs have their own song that CMT inserts whenever the camera cuts to them dancing? Like with Kalyssa, every time she was shown they played “Wild Ones” (I guess to emphasize how “dirty….but in a good way” she was)? And when they show Gina they play that Hailee Steinfeld song, “Love Myself”. I guess to convey to the audience that they think she comes off as full of herself? I wonder if the CMT people realize that that’s a song about masturbation? I believe Kelli is the Executive Producer of the show. I don't know anything about the tv world, but maybe that gives her the authority to turn this season into "The Victoria Show" if she wants to? If that D.O school in Mexico (can't remember the name) was her first choice, then it must've been the only place she applied. It's like the University of Phoenix of med schools. The comments I read about Kelli acting like a Mean Girl by calling KaShara's name made me think of the movie. I've decided that, at least in my head, I will now be referring to VK as "Fetch".
  5. I feel bad that the Cowboys organization obviously appointed Shelly to join this group and now she has to read about her daughter on here. I know if one of my girls were auditioning and I had to read about how she had been treated cruelly and unfairly by the Director, even if the vast majority of posters agree that that was a classless move, it would still hurt to read about it. I guess I'd just like to tell Shelly (and this is not something I am expecting or wanting her to answer), not because I'm trying to suck up or stand out but because I'm a mom and she's a mom, that from what I've seen Dayton is a lovely, talented and well-spoken young woman. Those traits are far more important; more desirable than all the bluster, entitlement and over-the-top bravado in the world.
  6. I love that analogy; and it's so true! Well, technically J wouldn't be killing her. A shark would :) I *think* that that is the first time anyone came out and said J was Baz's son, although I know it's been alluded to before. Can anyone else weigh in? Also, it gave me the chills when Pope agreed to live at home in exchange for Smurf allowing Lena to be adopted and Smurf said something like "It'll be like she never existed." Poor little thing; I hope she can be happy now. LOL, can you imagine the look on Lena's foster parents faces when they opened the door and came face to face with Pope and his dead eyes? Yikes!
  7. I agree. It's like the producers saw that people liked Phil so they decided to expand his role and it's really been expanded too much. That's weird because, for irrelevant reasons, I've seen the house they live in and it's *extremely* modest. I'm kind of shocked that Tina's husband/Victoria's dad would be any sort of player. Sorry, I don't know where this bold type came from!
  8. I know that Kelli's opinion of Victoria is colored by the fact that she and The Hosebeast are best friends from way back, but what is Charlotte's stake in her making the squad? I would love to know what the other judges think about her so far.
  9. Another clever word would be futch. Just sayin'.
  10. Was she the woman for whom Kelli so happily invented the word "thutt"? She was adorable and could really dance.
  11. Kent Dorfman - another famous legacy. (I am no doubt showing my age with an Animal House GIF)
  12. DCC lore says that once upon a time in the seventies a cameraman at a Cowboys game zoomed in on a cheerleader who winked into the camera therein forever securing the DCC's position as the bees knees of professional cheerleading. ************ Either last season or the one before, Kelli commented that the women who look best in the uniform have a figure like on old fashioned pin-up girl. I want to say the measurements she used as an example were 34-24-34?
  13. VK had Kelli practically in tears during her freestyle dance. Perhaps it was because it just hit her that Girlfriend Can't Dance All That Well, but she claims it was because of all the emotions, memories of her and Tina's long friendship ("No, Tina! Back. Away. From. The. Haagan-Dazs.") I feel that photos would have to surface of (do not click if you are offended by smut) before she wouldn't make the squad. BTW, Dayton Bramhall was very mature and classy to like on that Instagram photo of the TCCs and vets.
  14. To me, everyone looks good because I have no dance background but, like Bytor, I love watching it. There are a few DCC about whom I wonder if they'd be considered well trained dancers or flashy dancers. Would you mind giving me an opinion? Holly P., Melissa (blonde, from SMU, does something with biomedical engineering, I believe), Whitney Iselib, Jenna, Brooke Sorensen. Anyone else with an opinion, please feel free to opine as well! Thanks! :)
  15. By that same token, when Jinelle had to fly to Australia to renew her visa and then turn right around and get back to Dallas in time for the start of training camp, Kelli could have told her that she could skip the solos since she was not in jeopardy of making the team, but she didn't. Kelli is the only DCC in history who was ever invited back without trying out and she's going to remain the only DCC in history who was ever invited back without trying out, dangit! Wasn't there a debacle a couple of years ago with someone who had been cut before training camp being called up to replace someone who quit? I can't remember details. I think the girl had short, reddish hair?
  16. My daughter is at Tulane and the joke there is What do Tulane students and LSU students have in common? They all got into LSU. I tell her to quit being a private school snot since it's her father's and my public college educations that are bankrolling her!
  17. LOL, yeah, it was kind of like "If you make the DCC, your boyfriend too can surprise you with a marriage proposal on the star with the rest of the squad clustered adoringly around!" Because I'm sure K would allow that for any cheerleader, right?? Do you know who Courtney Stoddard is? If not, just Google. Victoria reminds me a lot of her (without the massive tatas).
  18. At the beginning when they showed the shot of Kelli stepping out of the Escalade, that was really cheesy but at the same time; wow, she looks so pretty! Judy and Shelly look amazing as well. I'm sure they've all had some work done, but no shame in that!
  19. I feel the same way. Her mother seems like an adult Mean Girl, but it's not fair to paint VK with the same brush. Who knows, maybe she doesn't like her mother any more than we do? :)
  20. Remember that awkward moment a few years ago when Kelsey said to Melissa something about how did she look so good so soon after having a baby? I could practically hear the gears in Kelsey's head turning as she tried to remember exactly what ass-kissing comment she was supposed to make.
  21. Back when William was alive, did he ever mention anything about why he didn't have a partner? I remember Elizabeth telling Tuan to contact the Centre and demand that they find a partner for him and it made me wonder why poor William was all by himself.
  22. I feel like paraphrasing that line from "Mean Girls". Stop trying to make Mentor Melissa happen!!!
  23. One thing about Melissa Rycroft: (embarrassing revelation to follow) I actually read her book and it doesn't sound like she was a model cheerleader. She quit the squad and then begged to be put on again or something like that? I wonder why they didn't choose a rockstar retiree to come back and mentor? Someone along the lines of an Ashton Torres or an Ally Traynor. I know she was on Dancing With The Stars but, sheesh, is there really someone out there who wouldn't normally MTT but says, "Well, hey, I'm gonna watch this show because Melissa Rycroft is on here. I just lurve Melissa Rycroft!"?
  24. And sometimes they want to create a sob story when there's really not one to be had. A couple of years ago, an absolutely stunning TCC shared her story of having psoriasis. Don't get me wrong, I know that's a difficult thing to have. But does it really merit a segment???
  25. My thought was maybe she saw the footage of the calendar shoot where they cheerleaders traipsed down the runway in thigh high boots and bikinis and thought, "Oh HAYLE NO!" :) It was probably because of that dang nipple. If I recall, said nipple was a huge deal at the time in my junior high.
