  1. Yeah the $1000 is worthy of a side eye BUT Letty left how much in the mail box? Once again Letty meant well and her attempt has the opposite effect.
  2. I binge watched the first four episodes on the TNT app. You get the option of watching the "regular" episode or the "explicit" version. Needless to say I watch the explicit version so none of the curse words are edited. Lettie's dream of getting Jacob back is just a dream. She's listening to the "app" that feeds her positive thoughts but the hard work of rehab, NA/AA meetings, is anathema to her. Despite his grandmother's ways Jacob is in a much better situation with her. Tiffany's rant at the reunion where she reveals that she was the one to introduce Lettie to "Sean" who turned out to be a horror adds another layer to why she even tried to help Lettie. She felt that Lettie was a threat from the minute she took her in. I wonder if we'll get to see how she reacts when she finds out it's her Kyle who is the junkie. This episode was as emotionally tense as episode 3 for different reasons. While watching it I kept saying to myself "you can't go home again". The way they shot the scene where she tried to help Kyle made it clear Tiffany was going to walk in. I was hoping that Tiffany would walk in while she was confronting him about his addiction and not when Lettie began to confuse fantasy and reality and kissed him. That was not to be but there had to be a way for Javier to come back into her life. Lettie's mom's actions were clear to me. If you've never dealt with an active addict in your life she may seem hard and cruel. To me she was protecting not only Jacob but herself. The scene at the reunion showed that she does still love her daughter but in the end she can't have her in her life or allow her in Jacob's life. I'm anxiously awaiting the next episode. Dockery is amazing.
  3. Didn't Maddox say Tony had signed on for another year at his job? I got the impression that he would be away and that she wasn't going to let any grass grow under her feet. That flowered shirt was such a change for Lewis! And it looked as if Hobson was wearing one under her sweater/top whatever that was. Too cute. A Maddox series you say? hmmm
  4. I will miss this show. I am a fan of the Morse/Lewis/Endeavour shows and the way it was left open I thought that in a year or two we'd have Inspector Hathaway and Maddox continuing as children of Morse. Maddox personal life seems to be a hot mess. James is trying to work on connecting with other people but I see him more as a modern day Morse than Lewis ever was. I think in the end Hathaway was more secure in himself and ready to step out of Lewis shadow. I guess Laurence Fox has to settle things before a decision is made. There is Endeavour to look forward to next year. Meanwhile I'm rewatching "Inspector Morse" and the early Inspector Lewis seasons.
  5. My daughter doesn't think Juliette is gone. I'm hoping that she is. There was no where else to take her character and there is going to be all the Diana/Adalind/New baby stuff going on. Bud's asking what would happen after Adalind has her child wasn't thrown in idly.
  6. Alfred has never liked Selina. He knows there is an attraction between the Selina and Bruce and he made it clear he doesn't want it to happen back in S1. That said his slapping her was the last thing I expected and it shocked me. Meanwhile Bruce, being a young man, has been distracted by the shiny new toy Galavan dangled in front of him. I cannot wait for Penguin to get Galavan. He warned him but I think Galavan feels he can manipulate Penguin just like he did the Maniax. As someone else already said, my money is on the bird.
  7. I was just reading the thread to discuss the entire season and was struck by the number of people who were made uneasy by the overall darkness of the show. Not just the story line(s) but the lighting of the show. Even during the day there was a hint of darkness. The only time there wasn't was at the end of this episode. When the plaque with the name of their firm is unveiled the focus is on the bright shiny new sign, a sign befitting a modestly successful law firm. Then the camera pulls back and you see the squalor that surrounds the lawyers and their secretary. The last scene is literally the pile of trash across the street from the office that is waiting to be taken out. And the scene is lit as if it's a bright sunny day with no hint of darkness around the edges. It's a great scene. The other thing I noticed was the difference between Fisk's original wall - it was white, the painting he bought that led to his meeting Vanessa, "Rabbit in a Snow Storm" was white but the final wall in the prison was gray edging into black. This kind of work is what makes this series great.
  8. I just finished Episode 13. It works wonderfully. Jimmy Cliff's "Many Rivers to Cross" was so prophetic and set the tone of the episode. Nessum Dorma ("None Shall Sleep") during the raids was perfect as well since just when you thought it was safe to breathe it wasn't. I thought Leland has big shiny brass ones to admit to Fisk what he and Gao had done and that the target was Vanessa. That's what cost him his life. Like Ben Fisk perceived him as having violated the woman he loved (mother by Ben, actual lover by Leland). I figured out it was he and Gao behind the poisonings after they happened. That there was collateral damage didn't matter to him or Fisk. The jaw dropper for me was who was the mole in the news room. The face of the actor playing the editor showed every emotion from shock to remorse he felt about what happened and how he was manipulated as well. When I saw her at the funeral I was like "why is she there?" I don't see Karen as a hero. She's a survivor. I think she came to NY to escape something and we'll find out more next season. She knows how to use a gun very, very well. She's got big secrets too. She's hiding in plain sight. Am I the only one who was surprised at the scene, I think it was last episode, where she played the perfect secretary and got coffee? Matt knows she's lying and I know she knows he knows she lying about the change in her. Vanessa is one of the most fascinating female characters I've seen on TV. Along with Karen they are attractive, desirable women but able to hold their own in a crisis without running to a man and saying "hold me". Claire had better be back next season. I'm worried about Mr Goodguy Cop. I've been a fan of Vincent D'onofrio since "Criminal Intent". Those scenes at the end where he was literally large and in charge, where he defines himself as the evil the traveler met along the road. Awesome. I'm not finished processing the series or this episode. I'm just upset that the next season will be 2017. UGH!
  9. No one mentioned the dreams Matt had of the upcoming death match with Nobu. He knew on some level what was going to happen because in his dreams he saw himself die. I love the scenes with him and the priest, and maybe the priest is the guy Fisk's late unlamented father had him beat up. Fisk and the painting = Fisk and the wall he was told to stare at by his father while he beat William's mother. The actress who played his mother was excellent. Yes the fight between Matt and Nobu was awesome and well choreographed but after young William bashes his father's head in did anyone expect his mother to say "get the saw"? One of the most chilling scenes I've ever scene on television. The whole episode was about intent and of course the concept of evil. Did his father "intend" to brutally beat his wife? Did young William "intend" to bash his father's head in? Then we get to the really hard stuff. By dismembering her barely still alive husband what was Mrs Fisk's intent? There is no doubt about Fisk's intent regarding the Mask and his way of going about it. I thought of the discussion with the priest about the man in Rwanda who ended up having to murder a good man with his own hands because the man's existence bothered him. Matt did not "intend" to kill Nobu but he didn't "intend" to die there either. Fisk, in wanting to show what a "big man" he is beat up a defenseless Matt because he could. It was interesting to me that he didn't try and lift the mask to find out who his presumed next victim was. Or actually who Wesley's next victim was. That struck me as odd too. We know Fisk will kill but why not in the warehouse? Does he have to be in a rage to do something himself? I'm hoping Rosario Dawson is back soon. Matt is so beat up he needs her help. I'm wondering what will happen if Fisk ever gets angry with Vanessa? I'm babbling so I'll stop now.
  10. I'm in. I don't have much to add to what's already been said about the Pilot Episode. I'm also one of those who had no idea what "The Incident" was. I'll have to get up to speed. This is what someone said upthread, a super hero show for adults. Definitely not for kids.
  11. Is she really gone?! I just finished watching Season Finale and please, please let her be gone! I thought about Grace would have "really" said seeing Abbie's hair. There were mixed race people back then though so maybe it wasn't a big thing for her.
  12. LOLing. How long will TPTB ignore what has happened to it's show?
  13. Jada is wonderful in Gotham. She plays Fish with the right mixture of camp and evil. I agree that S1 of SH had the better cast but "Gotham", "The Flash" and from what I'm read "Arrow" have done the better job of keeping scifi/fantasy fans interested because the situations within the world the writers have created make total sense. And let's not forget Cobblepot!
