  1. Ugh! What is this? I thought it was Pirates of the Caribbean but Noooo...it’s Wilson from the movie Castaway. Oh, I only hope TomHanks shows up as there are so many excruciatingly boring characters on this extremely crowded island. A neighbor of mine just had little baby goats and I have been happily helping her with them. They are so soft and darling. I assure you seeing a decapitated skinless goat’s head is the last f****** thing I ever wanted to see in my life!!! Is that a “plot device” ?! Anyway , I only hope the last episodes improve for other viewers. I am sadly done with Outlander. In future, I shall enjoy the first two seasons and ignore this one. Best wishes to all and Happy Holidays.
  2. Ugh! I can not see what is the point to all of this sea voyage stuff? Why was wee little Young Ian pressganged aboard the ship when Claire and Jamie lost him? Will there be an answer this season, if and when they ever find him? Meanwhile guess what -Claire and Jamie are separated AGAIN. Boring. Why? So we get to see Claire being nasty and grumpy and play Doctor AGAIN. I am not finding this long string of ship crew members interesting either. None of them seem like strong characters. Who is writing this stuff anyway? Murtagh❤️, Column, Dougal, Gellis, Mrs Fitz, Rupert and Angus were good characters. Why make your lead character- Claire- into an unlikeable woman? And then do the same to Jamie-oh look- Jamie is upset Claire has been pressganged (AGAIN) to another ship. Jamie comes up with a silly hairbrained plan to rescue Claire. Jamie was never silly before. Nor was he thick. Jamie was a farmer, a Highlander warrior, trained troops in the Rebellion, ran a wine business for his Cousin, ran a PrintShop, etc..Now Jamie is ? continuously. Enough already.....And where is Claire and her compassion and kindness? And where are my Outlander Season One DVDs?!!
  3. BitterApple, I think it is just the way Claire is being written. She wasn’t snotty like that in Season 1. Claire has often mouthed off and gotten herself in trouble. But she was kind and compassionate and that was the first thing Jamie saw in her. I certainly agree with your assessment of her. Why not smile and rub the horseshoe? Play the game. I expect Gellis would have done so before she went nuts and killed her farty husband. I just can not get into this Outlander Pirates at all. Have they got Sam Heughan in some kind of wig? Looks weird. Can he not just have dyed red shorter hair? Where’s the harm in that? Sam’s hair is short now and looks nice. Anyway, I just wanna say to the Producer and author: Stop ruining Outlander!
  4. Juliegirlj, I am with you. I am afraid I am going to be an Outlander casualty. I have seen somewhere else that other fans of the series dropped out in the third season. I am just rapidly loosing interest for lots of reasons. I think it has a lot to do with being so crazy about the first season and the Highlanders and now all that is gone. I just can not seem to get interested in where the series is going. I enjoyed the first part of this season, but I notice as soon as Scotland is gone, that is when my interest fades. And you know, I think I also dislike the way Claire is being written. Is it just me? She seems really bitchy or acting superior. Jamie seems very immature and irresponsible. I do not like it when I start disliking the lead characters. Jamie seemed more responsible in the first season to me.‘
  5. Is that true that Jamie is older than his sister, Jenny? Lord, I never would have believed that. Jenny is so much more mature and responsible than Jamie. Jamie just can not wait to do anything rebellious and irresponsible. How old is he now 43 or thereabouts? He acts like some teenager. And Claire is just as bad. Why drag modern medicine back through the stones? Any supply can not last because Jamie is always getting “scratches”. If Jamie is no longer being hunted for treason, then why is he supposedly using this fake name A Malcomn? Has he been charged with sedition? Did I miss something? Isn’t prostitution illegal back then? Smuggling is certainly illegal. I have always got loads of questions, but lots of this series makes little sense to me. I realize that having a logical mind is a disadvantage when it comes to Outlander.
  6. I think it’s just the way this bit was written. How was Wee Young Ian supposed to swim back with this treasure box? How did this ship whip out a smaller boat with oars so quickly to capture this kid? Why bother with this kid anyway? He has bad hair. What ever happened to the endless stream of British patrols combing the countryside looking for Rebels? Did that suddenly end? I thought Jamie is still wanted for treason. Does Jamie not believe in a disguise? He has the same look in those WANTED posters. How about a dye job or a buzz cut, Jamie lad? Is there never a discussion or mention of Black Jack? I am sure that monster will be back ?looking for his favorite whipping boy. Where is my beloved Murtaugh ❤️when his intelligence and common sense are needed.
  7. You know I think that my heroine Jenny and her trusty husband had a momentary lack of their good sense when they allowed their son Young Ian to go anywhere with the irresponsible flighty duo Jamie and Claire. How long did it take for those two to lose that kid (with the eternal bad hair day)? So, YI swam out to this little isle to get the treasure and a Pirate ship just happens along and picks him up? Are we now seeing Pirates of the Caribbean uh...6?! Arrrgh...Where is Murtaugh? Or any of the Highlanders? Dead and gone and now it’s pirates.
  8. Okay, I have been wondering if anyone was going to stop lying and telling stories. Here it is. Finally. And Laogharie! Who tried to get old Claire burned at the stake with Gellis. Now did Jamie know that about the Witch Trial? I am sorry, I don’t remember. Seems like years ago. It was! And then, she shoots Jamie. Okay, I was screaming laughing.? And then I was thinking, oh, they are serious here. I guess I am not supposed to be laughing. Well, to me, all those lies will come back and bit you in the buns. And they certainly did! Oh, and look it’s Ned. A sensible, intelligent man. Come to clean up another mess. Yeah, Ned! I am, of course, a great admirer of Jenny, who has to be one of the few people with any sense (And Ned!) (And Murtaugh❤️) in the whole series. Why is it that the characters that I like I rarely see, Diana Author? Also Diana, you also have killed off lots of my favorites as well. In their places you have put in lots of dull boring ones! Well, truth be told, I am always missing the first season. As time goes on, I feel so blessed to have them on DVD. NO! Not Black Jack. Too evil. I hope I am not going to get a nasty surprise further down the road and Hello, it’s Black Jack again!!! I have heard that, oh no, Black Jack is really dead. Yeah, so was Spock. (RIP Leonard Nimoy❤️).
  9. As Keeta said, this thread is kind of a bummer. I am seeing lots of criticism about the way this one particular episode was filmed. I am wondering where is this criticism focused? Is it the Director? The writers? I keep reading the comments and I keep seeing Jamie should have done this or that and that bothers me. I personally think Sam Heughan is excellent as Jamie, so I am sad if posters here are unhappy with his performance. How many times have I read a great book and the follow up film is very different? Life is like that. Producers, Directors, and cast make their vision not mine.
  10. I have read Diana’s twitter, the writers and Sam Heughan comments on the photographs scene today. From what I read it was a collaborative decision with everyone agreeing on the outcome. That is cool with me. Often books are very different from the film version. My philosophy about that is to enjoy both and don’t sweat it. Books have lots of detail. Films don’t. I know I have read lots of folks here say that they are not happy that Murtagh did not die at Culloden. I am thrilled that Murtagh is still alive. I personally was just enjoying Jamie showing a mini portrait of his son. My thoughts were that Jamie probably believes he will never meet Bree, therefore he will never know her. Clare has chosen to spend the rest of her life with Jamie and will also probably never see Bree again. Now there is an interesting choice: what would I do; stay in the same time zone as my daughter or go back to the time zone as my true love? I would probably choose Bree, the daughter, even though she has her own life, of course, I would still get to see her. I am guessing but I think maybe Jamie will see his son again at some point. I hope so as I enjoyed that fact that Jamie had a son.
  11. Last night I was reading Sam Heughan’s twitter response to the photographs scene others here had complained about. I found it interesting and perhaps others will as well.
  12. I thought that the whole thing of Clare and Jamie going over their histories over dinner and then hoping right into bed afterwards was a bit vague. Oh, and how much history was disclosed? Did Clare ask about Jenny and Ian? Did Clare tell Jamie about the false half life she lived for 20 years with Frank? Did she mention to Jamie about the charade she and Frank tried to put on for the sake of their daughter? Did Jamie tell Clare about Murtagh still being alive? Did he tell C about Rupert’s execution? I think Jamie mislead Clare into thinking that the two of them are still married. And I am guessing a little thing like being married to you-know-who just may have slipped his mind. UGH! I do not have a problem with Clare going down to have some breakfast with the working women. After all, Jamie lives there and is on good terms with the household. Why shouldn’t Clare be friendly? They were certainly being kind to her even though the Madame was an ice cube. I must admit to personally preferring the previous Season 3 episodes. I am interested in the Highlanders history of Scotland, so those parts are my favorite. Anyway, so much for my opinion. I personally would enjoy some truth telling in future episodes.
  13. Satrunrose, you have made some interesting points, but I know in my family in the 1950s, my Aunt and Uncle were divorced. It worked out very well for both. I also do not see Clare as a woman who would be unnerved by being a divorcee. I have always felt she was quite fearless in many ways, right from the being ; when she was right up in BJR’s face, standing up to the MacKenzie clan, cursing in her usual forthright manner. I can see her working in a hospital, raising Bree alone and doing it all very well. I can not for the life of me understand Frank not letting her go. Clearly she does not love him and loves another, dead or not. I am sorry he is sterile, but after all, he apparently had taken other women, so remarrying was very likely. He and the next wife could adopt or she may have already have had a child. That whole Frank and Clare thing was a hot mess. It seemed as soon as she married passionate Jamie, old Frank was forgotten, except when Jamie wanted to kill BJR in the second season.
  14. First, I am old and I think the memory is definitely going and please forgive me that I seem to have forgotten, but why is Clare with Frank when she returns? I mean she returns because Jamie is going to die at Culloden. She is pregnant with their child, of course, so they want the child to live and be brought up safe. Okay, but why return to Frank? She no longer loves him. She is heartbroken because of Jamie. Why not go back into nursing? She loves healing and patient care. Find a sitter for the baby. Rent a room somewhere, whatever. Why live a phony lie with Frank? It just looks to me like Clare signed on for regrets and recriminations getting back with Frank. She hurts him and he hurts her right back. How miserable is that? What a sad way to live for 20 years.
  15. Also Margaret has been making very poor choices in men; first Sidney and now Geordie. SIdney is in love with Amanda and Geordie is married.
