  1. Marcus needs to get over himself, just a little bit. He doesn't' know everything about everything. And just because someone tries to show you how to do something, doesn't mean they're a control freak. I dare say if someone came to Camping World and tried to tell you how to do things you'd back them up a bit as well. One week he thinks that just because he eats soup, he cane come up with recipes for soup. Another week, he's in a professional kitchen and just wants to start cutting onions. And when someone steps in just to show him how it's done in a professional deadline driven, food prep environment -- he says "back up dude, it's only chopping onions" (or whatever he was cutting. BUT, in a professional kitchen which is the BUSINESS he was looking to invest in, there IS a way to do that -- so that -- you're back, neck and shoulders don't hurt at the end of the day -- AND you can do it quickly -- AND keep your finger tips. There IS a way to dice and chop in a professional kitchen. ANd Marcus was absolutely wrong in that situation. But this is a pattern with him -- thinking he knows more about given aspect of the business than the people IN that business.
  2. The Smoke/grill guy is Steve Raichlin whose been known for years in grilling circles, He's been on for over a decade and has had other shows. The other person was Annabel Langbein in New Zealand. I've seen the show but not watched it. Can't say I won't watch ever. Just not looking to add yet another cooking show to my list…not at the time she's on. So far nothing I've seen or heard in the very short snippets I've seen has made me want to see more. Nothing against her, just not enamored. I saw the Smollets show ( a bit of one) the other day. Too much banter and attitude for me. I'm old school. I just want people to cook! To shows and I really WANT to like, but just tune in and out -- as opposed to watching an entire show are Cajun/Creole cuisine Louisians chefs John Besh and John Folse. EACH have their own shows. And much as I love that kinds of food, their shows haven't had me glued to the set. I only just recently discovered "The Kitchen" on Food Network. I looked it up and it's been on for a while. Who knew? It's OK. But it tried too hard to be hip. The personalities are actually a turn off. Just give me Julia Child and Jacques Pepin…
  3. Except there are companies that ARE doing both. We don't' know that their watch isn''t decent." Hasn't each raised millions for their causes…hardly useless. Travis was the only one who wanted to move toward the lifestyle crap. The other two did want to focus on the origin mission.
  4. 1) I really like the episode itself and how it was presented. 2) I love the premise of the business. 3) It's fascinating that, Travis, the guy's mom who died didn't see that the charity tie-in was THE company. I know he was hurting, but how could he NOT see that. I get want to expand and grow but he was waaay off in left field. 4) I thought it was, perhaps, a little disingenuous to fault the guy who "rushed" the first sales display. IF he only had a short time to come up with something because Marcus was only in town for a few days during the initial taping and had tho have something the next time Marcus came. You can't fault him for a rushed job when the time frame WAS INDEED tight. 5) I agree the website could be better. And I would feature the watches a bit more. I 'm thinking of Tom's shoes. I know they donate a pair or shoes for every pair they sell. BUT it's clear they're in the SHOE business. Sure there's the charity aspect, but you have to SELL the product first, in order to make the donation. 6) It was a little different, I get that -- but Marcus said it was wrong to change the product because of what retailers (OK, A retailer) wanted, that was a little "pot calling the kettle black." Because at that candle company invested in -- he changed the entire product and focus of the candle line in order to, IN HIS MIND, chase broader sales base. When a) the existing candles were truly unques and could have been marketed MUCH better, and b) there are already a gazillion candle companies out there. 7) It amazes me there's a flip-flop store -- that only sells flip-flops. And the Flip flop guy seemed like he was on a bit of a high horse. I'm like -- guy -- you sell flip-flips, not one to talk about a product being a dime a dozen, or needing something "special." What's special about your flip-flips. ----------------------- (Anyone else having a spacing issue, I can't tab down just one line, only double space.)
  5. God bless Vito. He just wants a simple life and to run a deli. Seems so nice, and unaffected by all this. Raised by grounded, loving parents Decent guy who'd give you the sort off his back. I LOVE that he's scared of litter critters like mice, spiders, etc.
  6. I like almost all of Patrick's T-shirts. I'm a t-shirt person. Known for wearing with cathy phrases. I could see broadening the offerings, cuts and sizes. But I liked what he had already. He wasn't marketing himself, and the base wasn't broad enough. That's all.
  7. Exactly right. That the business part of it didn't really need any heavy handed wholesale changes. ADD some additional soups. TWEAK the current soups and make them healthier IF you can, sure. But they ARE selling as is. Marcus was to full of himself when it came to the soup recipes, IMO. ANd utterly condescending in an area that IS NOT his expertise.
  8. I have no prob with that, it's pretty much common sense. Every chain from Cozi, to Au Bon Pain, to Panera does that. But I'd still have thick hearty soups eve in summer" A cafe here like one I mentioned above has the thick kale turkey wild rice in summer and it still sells. BUT that's not what Marcus said. he wanted to just do light and healthy. And I agree that he should know better. Which leads me to…..the topic of his ego….. I know it's his show, and his money. And much as I love him -- Marcus, my love, you can't know EVERYTHING about EVERY business. SOmetimes he wants to improve what's there (Mr Green Tea). Other times he it seems he just wants the name and the stores -- because he changes everything about the business he SAID he was interested in. I think Dave not knowing the financials is totally because -- as he said-- the BUSINESS partner who handled the BUSINESS part, died. Now Dave should have figured out a way to GET up to speed. BUT clearly that's not his interest -- OR his skill set, at all. As for Grace and this show I don't know how much is producer driven. WHY DID Grace just show up that day. DID she just show up -- or was she going to be there anyway, filming or not? AND these "phone calls" that Marcus gets. You mean to tell me these people -- i.e. Grace just happened to call him on his cell phone while he happened to be filming for a follow up. CLEARLY, that is set up. What else's is set up? I suppose if Marcus called them from a cell phone he uses for the show, then they'd have that number in their cell phone to call back. Maybe the producers say "call marcus at this time." But he seems to act like, they just happened to call him….. I've forgotten what next week's show will be. I'll be watching. But I sometimes I just don't know what to make of Marcus' attitude, which can be extremely arrogant, and it's not a pretty look. There is a way to be "100 percent in charge" and NOT be an asshole about it. I don't like Marcus when he's pompous. Oh, and I don't like The Simple Greek decor either. I don't care how many franchises they've sold. It IS stark, and a bit plain. And can we have an update on "Standard Burger?" "and Stein Meats, well I guess at this point it'd be an update on the lawsuit over Brooklyn Burger.
  9. I hope I'm not alone in this, but I LOVE thick, hearty soups. So all the soups Marcus wanted to change would have been fine with me. Healthier version yes. But an almost porridge consistency for some soups is what they should have. NOT every soup is brothy, Marcus. One place I get soup has a Kale, Turkey, While Rice soup that nice and thick -- and perfect. I don't know what to make of the "drama" so far this season. And the Grace complication this week? WTF? I am still hopelessly in love with Marcus' facial reactions, though. His looks of surprise. shock, confusion and wonderment are what I watch for. They keep my tuning in waiting to see the next reaction shot.
  10. 1) I would make Bethenney eat those words about using coke. Could it be they want to shut down the talk because Hanna or John could be involved in that? 2) Also it was really Luann who REALLY said let's not go there? Why would SHE be so eager to shut it down? 3) Now to something even more shallow: I love the look on pretty much everyone, but ALL the women went with the nude lip?
  11. If the woman Tom ran into, hadn't seen him in a while, or was a stranger -- then SHE didn't know he was in a relationship. So how can you blame her at all. She wasn't ready and waiting to get him in her clutches. Also did Tom happen to run into her (which is how it was presented) -- or did he MEET her there (it having been planned). Because if she happened to run into him (since everyone seems to know everyone in the UES, I guess that could happen) how was she know he was engaged…in the last two months. After she processed it, Lu said they'd had a fight that day. Like that makes it OK?
  12. I'm going to go back and read all these…but first, in no particular order -- Luann: her insecurities were so evident when she presumed they were all talking about her, when they weren't. And she though Ramona was talking about Tom, when she was talking about Mario. -- I don't know why, but I am so fixated on on the fact that Beth walking into her party saying she loves setting all the details, yet she didn't know they were serving vegetarian ceviche. I thought you like details Beth??? You didn't even know what was being served. -- I could comment on more: their dates, their outfits, etc. but this season has been sort of "whatever" for me, so I don't' care that much. -- Loved that Ramona looked down on her jewelry. I think she's a bitch sometimes. -- It wasn't until her talking head late in the show until I realized Sonya was hardly in the episode. She walked in -- and she wasn't seen again. Perhaps because she didn't want to discuss Tom -- even in a group. But Ramona was sure in the thick of it talking about it.
  13. I'm sure I'm not the first person to think this, but these low prices, even if on fixer-uppers and tear downs -- are crazy low. Here in the DC area, any fixer-upper -- in any neighborhood where I'd want to live -- would be at least 200K -- and need at least 200K worth of work. And that's a big maybe on the the low end. Also I do hate that al HGTV remodeling shows have the "afters" staged with new furniture -- AND it's never made clear whether that was part of the budget or not. On the show itself, whether Fixer Upper or Love it or List it….or an older show like Devine Design, it's never explicitly clear whether the FINISHED LOOK we as the viewers see, all of it, was done for the homeowner's stated budget. We're told the budget is XYZ, then we're told that the homeowners can't get XYZ done, that would actually be part of the bones of a house, like the bathroom, YET we see new furniture. Well, I think the VIEWERS should be told, all this new furniture, wasn't part of the budget. Because I'm thinking, forget all the staging, give me the finished basement I wanted and put my perfectly good furniture in this new house. As a matter of fact I think THAT should be one premise of the show, fix the house up, but put the owner's furniture back in to show that fixing the HOUSE is what matters. Why can't the show be part fixer upper -- part Decorating Cents, or Design on a Dime…where you decorated by rearranging what you already have.
  14. Forgive my ignorance, but don't you need a person's phone number to text them. I doubt Beth's phone number is public knowledge. So unless you're just saying flat out that Bethenny is behind this info being collected, how would half of these "sources" text her the info. Would Sonja's facialist have Beth's phone number, would Lisa R's hairstylist? If anything Beth would have THEIR number not the other way around. Can't wait to see why Lu is really crying. I can't believe she's so over the moon. This has GOT to be fake right? Tom is not all that, that she should fall for him so hard, so quickly. It makes no sense to me. I really see nothing special about him at. all.
  15. There's one quick cut where Reza looks nervous as shit, and it's juxtaposed against a scene where GG and Adam are standing next to each other. Of course it's the editors cutting the show like that. What was Reza thinking with writing those letters. He has some reeeeeal. deeeep. issues. It looks like GG was going along WITH the others believing SHE wrote the apologies. DO you think Reza told GG he would HELP her write apologies for her, and then he spilled the beans that he's the one who wrote them. Mostly I just have to say. DAY-um, Asa has a body and a booty on her. And she wears clothing that show it off, too.
  16. Thomas so far is clearly heeding his attorney's advice to not be stupid, act stupid, or say anything stupid on camera. Some how someone got to him and FINALLY convinced him to at least on camera -- be the ADULT, and ACT LIKE you love and want your kids! Having the legal upper hand is priceless. Kathryn is lucky she only has that crowd to take on -- 'cuz if she were talkin' with another crowd she'd be toast. They'd verbally push a button and Kat would lose it. Kathryn should thank the heavens snowflake Landon and play nice Cameron don't how "to go there." Their verb jabs are pathetic. I really don't like Kathryn and if she talked her crap about me like she does with Landon, I'd destroy her. The guys on this show are spooled brats, and the women are wimps. Life handed to them on a silver platter (for the most part) and this is how they act and what they do.
  17. OK let me get the straight….. KATHRYN’S OWN attorney requested drug testing that SHE failed. What’s her law firm Dewey Cheatam and Howe? If HER attorneys requested the tests -- then saying they were court ordered is sort of BS…if HER OWN attorney ASKED for the testing. Any chance they could really be loyal to Thomas?
  18. Why was Kathryn even tested? I don't know anything about her being tested. Did Thomas ask for it in a legal move? DId she get taken into custody for some reason?
  19. Oh Good God….. According to Wikipedia, Patricia married Whitney's father in 1962. Whitney was born in '68. Parents divorced in 1979, when Whitney was about 11 . Pat married his first step-dad a doctor (psychiatrist) and entrepreneur -- who founded several practices in D.C. -- in 1989 when Whitney was about 21. They divorced in 1995 so Whitney was about 27. She married Altschul her last husband in 1996, Whitney was about 28. They were married until Altschul died in 2002. According to the website http://okhereisthesituation.com Whitney's father was a banker, banking advisor, and VP and Morgan Stanley. AND he's still alive. The way he's never mentioned I thought the man was dead. So I think it IS fair to say Patricia married well even the first time, and she married UP each and every time. Golddigger? That's for each person to decide. But she herself says she has a skill for getting the attention of the right kind of man (whatever that is) . WHY Whitney never mentions his father, only he knows. His parents divorced when he was about 11, and who knows if the relationship deteriorated before that -- and what kind of tensions young Whitney was exposed to. Who knows what he was told about the break up, and how his parents may have talked about each other. IF he didn't spend much time with his dad after age 11, he would have certainly been more exposed to Pat's side of the story than his dad's. Plus, being an only child who knows how lonely he might have been. Now, to bring this back to the season finale….it was yet another episode where both Whitney and Patricia came off as rich elitists who think they're better than other people. When of course they're really not.
  20. Everyone on this show is a p uss y. Why can't they be adults and say what they have to say? Landon needs to grow a pair. and tell Kathryn to kiss her ass. Kathryn only thinks she's hot shit because she hasn't met any Basketball Wives. Landon should go Evelyn Lozada on Kathryn's ass. Landon tries to get all bold and says let's talk…and then she says "you're scaring me" and yells "Thomas tell her." I'm done with her pitiful punk ass….who has Patricia as a role model. Good God. And I'm tired of these folks -- and all Bravo shows really -- throwing around the word "friend." How the hell and Landon and a FIREND going to the same event, and Landon not know before hand the Robin is going with Shep. A minor thing -- but I loved Shep's reaction to Karthyn, when he first came up to her and asked how she is, and she cursed and said something like her life is "fucking fine." His facial reaction was like -- "alrighty then, we're hyped up already are we?" It's like he was schocked that she cursed and came out with the answer so strong. "whoa nelly." Can't wait for the reunion. I'd like to see at least ONE person take no prisoners. The ladies on Housewives of Atlanta or Married to Medicine could give lessons.
  21. I'm a loyal viewer and watch every week. I also tend to comment on each show. Just haven't yet decided whether to comment and what to say about this episode. But since I'm here…..I agree with some of what's been said, but of course, not all of it. I could ask WHY are certain people (Reza and MJ) in everyone else's business….well, because it's a reality TV show and -- either it's how they really are butt-in-skees…OR they're doing it for a story line. I think even someone who cares about Mike, would have by now STOPPED getting involved in his issue with Jessica. So why are Reza an MJ STILL butting in? GG is a mess. Because she's been such a snasty person personality wise. I really don't care whether she has RA or not. And I still love Shervin. Because I do think he cares about her. Where as MJ's and Reza's meddling seems contrived. I'd love to feel the quality of Asa's caftans. Not all are created equal. Are her's like the ones seen on Housewives of BH, or like the cheap ones I can get at Foreman Mills, Gabe's (east coast stores), or Walmart.
  22. I'm surprised there hasn't been more talk of them almost getting hitting by a car!:) That was very close. Am I the only one that can see an accident waiting to happen, before it happens, and anticipate what COULD happen? The car shouldn't have been that close to the cart in the first place. I know the cart pulled to the left and toward the street. But the car driver should have moved to the left away from the cart before that anyway. The drive SHOULD have anticipated that a golf cart full of people COULD pull off and into the street at any time. I'd have pulled farther around the gold cart to begin with. I didn't see who was driving the golf cart.
  23. My problem with Guy isn't that he changed it back to the original Italian. It's that in ENGLISH with don't roll "Rs" so for him to insist on pronouncing it the "Italian" way is stupid. He doesn't say any OTHER Italian word that way -- why just his name? I lived in Italy and speak Italian and I think it's stupid. If he doesn't say parrrmigiano rrrregiano, or marrrinama then he doesn't' need tay fierrri to the point where it sounds like fietti. Sorry I just think it's very pretentious.
  24. 1) So does Nene Leakes NOT have her own thread? 2) Have you seen what's she's done to her face THIS time? The latest nose job. But also looks like some chin or cheek work was done. I thought the previous work she had done was an improvement. This latest work I think is just too much. WHY do so many people NOT know when to stop…when to quit while they're ahead. Now she is absolutely a caricature of herself. It's like she's going for a 'Lil Kim look. NOT good.
  25. As bizarre as Sonja has been with all of her "business ventures": -- she should stick to her guns on the name Tipsy Girl, F.U. to Bethenny -- she's right to be hurt about not being invited, and NOT continuing to try to "make up' with Bethenny. -- the other women need to mind their business, AND Ramona is the LAST person to give advice about relationships, with men OR girlfriends -- I'm so tired of these women apparently, kissing Beth's butt. I'm just done with it. Someone needs to curse her out and set HER straight
