  1. Re: last night’s episode in the Kalahari Desert, boy was that woman annoying. Her survival skills don’t include having ever killed anything so that put pressure on her partner. There didn’t seem to be anywhere to fish since they were in the desert so who knows if she would have been ok fishing. I didn’t like how wishy washy she was over tapping or not (well, if it rains I want to leave), while he was ready to leave it’s like a minute later she’s going to stay, but he’s still going to leave and she’s ticked off. For the last half hour I had to mute the audio since I was tired of hearing her whining. If Naked and Afraid Alone wasn’t on afterwards I would have changed the channel. It’s a miracle she made it to day 21.
  2. While I get Rochelle’s frustration over the FBIs slow movement through this case did she really think going to the Sarasota police was going to accomplish anything? Especially when you’re dealing with a Federal agency?
  3. I enjoyed the episode overall and was happy to see at least 3 out of the 4 made it the 21 days. I think Danny (I’m sure that was his name) was the only one to be forced out due to the weather - he was determined to make it to the end before hypothermia set in during his original challenge. Anyway, late in the challenge after Andrew left, Danny takes his bow and arrow to go hunting - he makes a shot then cut to break. When the show returns they show him making his shot, it looks like he hit the animal yet it looks like it got away. Danny did find a dead animal but I’m wondering if he was the one who made the kill or were there 2 of them there. Did anyone else notice this?
  4. About that portal, good point. When they were in the future developing the portal how would they have known that where they were going that there would be enough water to keep it from overheating? Aren’t any of these people from the future aware of droughts from their (relatively recent) past like what’s going on at the Hoover Dam to take that type of thing into account when they’re planning this thing? Regions have had droughts over time. I was thinking that this show could be so much better if they eliminated a lot of those side characters from 2021. I agree, sending them through the portal to go back home would be a great idea. Since the writers seem so interested in focusing on the Harris family they should have had the whole thing start with them getting sucked down the sinkhole while on a trip in a remote area, then there wouldn’t have been all of these annoying side characters and stories.
  5. The kid with the teddy bear who needs to be coached from behind whatever who does not speak is such an overdone trope. I am rooting for the T-Rex too…question is since so many people and things fell through the sinkhole from 2021 how many other animals came through? Knowing this show only that T-Rex.
  6. That whole sequence with Eve going back 4 hours to warn Gavin was so dumb. She didn’t need to go back through the portal again if the reason she went through in the first place was to warn Gavin, he ended up safe, negating the reason for her to go back in the first place - like the whole thing didn’t happen. Then she interrupts the sequence of events that gets her to the spot where James can send her back 4 hours by helping Ty and Levi. The time travel “rules” are so messed up on this show. I agree, I think Petra’s mother is Gavin’s sister. So with 6 episodes left they’re introducing more characters. Ugh. I don’t care about Veronica, Lucas and their baby either. Once she first talked about how she wasn’t feeling well I figured she was pregnant. My guess is since Eve got sucked in to the giant time vortex to wherever she’s going to be the one who will come back with the way to get home.
  7. This is a great point. It would have been helpful to find out more about Silas too other than being the guy keeping Isiah “under guard” at the fort last season. We know he’s Caroline’s father and Isaiah/Gavin’s grandfather but what else was he doing there? He appears as a mysterious character, creates drama, then disappears. I guess he’s alive for now but who knows if they’ll kill him off soon. I don’t know if Veronica is supposed to be important - since she told Lucas about the code she supposedly deciphered who will do the reveal to the rest of the group? I guess however it happens will be convenient for the time it is revealed but won’t make sense overall.
  8. Glad to see the Orlando team back this week. it was interesting Keith tried to sell some of the furniture left in the house. No surprise it didn’t go although that globe looked kind of nice. At least this time we were spared budget overages and silly drama due to improper planning or does that kitchen layout issue between Keith and Alynne count? Instead we got Duke telling Keith we need to get this done sooner than planned because the market is showing signs of going south which is out of their control.
  9. That’s a good question. I think it was one of those one off things to add mystery to the show that they’re not going to explore.
  10. I think they’re making it up as they go along. I’d try to white board this mess but I have a couple of other little side projects right now that I think I’ll get more out of than this show.
  11. I’ve lost track of who to trust and who not to trust and who thinks so and so should be trusted now just because of whatever. Since one of the “evil” people murdered another “evil” person there’s one less of them to deal with. However Kira manages not to kill Silas (Yet). I was wondering if we’d see him again. That Veronica - Lucas romance is boring. She’s trying to work out the writings in that book that was in Aaron’s pocket …. How with no information other than he kidnapped her and is responsible for her being trapped in 10,000 BC. Apparently the guy was an overall creep according to Silas since he routinely took credit for other people’s work. I also would challenge her statement that programming is “all about numbers”. BTW there’s data involved and that is more than numbers. The attack with the killer wasps bored me. Again people are trapped while someone is in danger. How many times have we seen this already. Even though Ella didn’t really have much of a role maybe they could have just let the character fade away - why did they have to kill her? I guess to give Veronica more angst. Blowing up the entire building was stupid. As @KaveDweller noted, the building probably had supplies that could be useful. Then there’s shelter from all of the elements (you know, the wolves and bison from earlier episodes) that have plagued the group. Interesting. Now I’m wondering if the show will make a connection. I am not hopeful. edited to add: When Kira took Ty away as a hostage, it sounded like they left in a vehicle. Now only if they can find it to take it from her and travel to that spot. Who knows. 🤷‍♀️
  12. I too enjoyed watching 2 capable people get through the 21 days. I thought it was cute how Sam told us he thinks he’s the one leaving all the likes on Lily’s YouTube videos 😊. Kudos to him for getting her to stay - I don’t think we’ve seen that happen much. I loved the shelter they built - it looked pretty sturdy.
  13. I thought the scientist Caroline was looking for and found dead was someone we never saw. I admit I’m having a problem remembering the names of some of these characters since the show seems to go all over the place. That remark where Veronica speculated Aaron knew about the sinkhole before it happened IMO is introducing an unnecessary storyline in to an already messy show. Really, the guy died in pretty much the first episode and we’re bringing him up now? There was that now resolved angst with Veronica and Lily since their kidnapper was dead and they could go around as they pleased without being under his control. At first I thought he was just a creep who kidnapped 2 girls and now he’s supposed to be some mysterious character? At least with Lost even though we had a lot of people when they focused on a key group of characters the show made a point of letting us get to know them individually (through their own episodes). La Brea, no. Lost had it faults as many have pointed out through the years but it is miles better than this show.
  14. I watched it during the original run. About the ages of the kids there were a few of them who looked like they were very close in age - Joanie, Nancy and Susan come to mind. Yeah, they seemed old for the parts they were playing. Of the older kids I think David was the only one out on his own? Then the actress who played Abby, Betty Buckley, is the same age as the actress who played Joanie who was playing a middle daughter. I remember reading an article about the show a while back about Betty Buckley having some issue at the time about playing a “mother” to characters being played by actors who were around her age. I guess they didn’t cast someone older as a 2nd wife since it always seems like when shows do that there’s always a kid in the deal.
  15. Where are Virgil and his wife going to go in 10,000 BC without having to rely on another group of people? I hope this is the last we see of him and he doesn’t pop up at some later time out of the blue to add suspense. No surprise it was Levi who came back. Who else would it be? About the scene where Taamed was going to kill Scott I was so disappointed when that didn’t happen. I get he’s a character that’s making things happen (letting Taamed go, etc.) but I’ve had enough of this guy. I might have missed something but that Exiles attack at the clearing to get that book made no sense to me. How did they know it was there or anyone there (other than Gavin’s mother, maybe) would think someone had it there. Then it just so happens Veronica remembers a book that Aaron (who we barely got to know other than he abducted Veronica and Lily) used to carry around all the time. Even though it was in the dead guy’s pocket when he was buried it seemed awfully clean for something that’s been buried under dirt for however long it’s been.
  16. How many episodes has it been with this team - 3? Every single time they’re over budget but it seems like they’re still making a profit. You’d think they’d learn but I guess not. That permit part - yeah, if you’re in charge and you’re required to jump through more hoops than usual perhaps it’s a good idea to put in a bit more work to make your self imposed deadline. Those people you’re relying on don’t have the skin in the game that you do.
  17. There’s a week break in between. Next new episode is 2/14.
  18. My limited market research (one person 😆) says no. I told a friend of mine about the show, describing it as a sinkhole opens in Los Angeles that some people fall through and end up in 10,000 BC. I didn’t mention any of the story lines. He promptly said he’d skip it. Watching the fish fall through the sinkhole I was thinking how they have food falling from the sky, all they need to do is cook it. No one said anything about this extra food that pretty much fell into their laps so I agree they probably did nothing with it. I don’t get how they’re using those futuristic tablet things in the tower however the scientist that supposedly had the solution to the problems with the sinkholes was keeping his research on paper. Then he had his secret cave where anyone could walk in and take stuff. I was thinking when the wild buffalos were coming to stampede through the clearing that Wolf Snack was going to become Buffalo Snack but I was disappointed. The limping from the sprained ankle was not very convincing. Who knows how Gavin was previously having visions that turned out to be memories so now he is having “visions” again. Maybe a post Isaiah, pre Gavin meeting Eve went down in the sinkhole again to a the time right when Eve dies, goes back to the modern time and meets Eve so he can go through the sinkhole again …. I know it’s a stretch but this show is so dumb I wouldn’t put it past them to do this. So any guesses as who’s coming through the portal in the next episode? My guess is somehow Levi comes back.
  19. Another article about 3rd season renewal with additional details https://deadline.com/2023/01/la-brea-canceled-end-season-3-episode-count-nbc-networks-strike-contingency-1235245795/
  20. I liked the time loop as well but I agree there’s too much time spent in HQ. If we had this time loop plot in the original they would have had Al telling Sam that Ziggy says … not all of this stuff with the HQ people looking at obits about the people at the nuclear site and coming up with their theory. I think we’re supposed to care about the people Ben interacts with in each episode- so let’s spend more time with them than the people at HQ. I don’t like them dragging out this mystery stuff with Janice either. That scene where Ben “died” and Addison’s reaction was way way way over done and cringey.
  21. The article mentions an episode where 2 Naked and Afraid medics attempt the 21 days - should be interesting if they end up with a situation where someone else would normally call a medic if they’d call for one right away or be able to self treat before calling for one.
  22. I think whatever episodes they filmed with that Fort Worth team are in some far away mystery vault at A&E along with those unaired episodes of ‘Adults Adopting Adults’ from last year, filed under ‘don’t ever do this again’. 😆😆
  23. Re: Dallas Runningbrook episode, I thought this Dallas team was okay but again the initial renovation budget is too low - when they first said what they were budgeting my thought as an armchair flipper was “that’s too low”. Then they go over by 15k - that’s around 35%! With the experience they said they have they should have done better on that. When they found the surprise with the mold and admitted there was no inspection before buying the house they should have been factoring in a surprise or two in their budget amount. Since this is a different team than the Fort Worth-Dallas episode from weeks back I guess we can make a good guess that those other people really won’t be back. The A&E website about the show doesn’t have those other people listed at all.
  24. I initially thought they were badly photoshopped photos that the defense team had done but the super’s reaction disproved that. They don’t look like real photos. If they are photoshopped I don’t understand why they couldn’t have taken a few pictures of both actors that would have looked more natural. I even wonder if that exchange with the super was a last minute addition and they were limited in time to set it up so we have the bad photos.
