  1. Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr. has been subjected to racial abuse. Again. La Liga and the Spanish authorities have been dragging their feet on doing anything to address this. I'm glad Carlo Ancelotti criticized the racism forcefully. But the governing body needs to do something. Yet with victim blamer Javier Tebas as the head of La Liga, I doubt that will happen.
  2. Forgot to say "Virgins to the left of me, whores to right" will never not be funny.
  3. I'm loving the young Lady Danbury. Arsema Thomas is great in this role. Her scenes with the Queen are wonderful. Likewise, the scenes with present-day Lady Danbury and Lady Bridgerton are fantastic. I'm really enjoying the work of those two actresses. I really hated those scenes, and I don't understand why the writers thought we needed to see more than one.
  4. Just started watching this, and I like it so far. Charlotte and George's meet cute was very sweet. I felt bad for her when he left her at Buckingham House by herself.
  5. Just read The Bangalore Detectives Club by Harini Nagendra for my monthly book club. I loved it! The main character Kaveri is wonderful - plucky, compassionate, and clever. Looking forward to reading the second book in the series, Murder Under a Red Moon. Definitely recommended for cozy mystery fans.
  6. Very excited for this Pedro Almodovar short starring Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal as gunslingers in love.
  7. This show still has me yelling out in the middle of the episode 😃 When the Mandalorians got trapped, I yelled "OMG, it's a kill box!" And now we see the threads of the season coming together. Moff Gideon has been pulling the strings all along: sending those pirates to Nevarro, preventing the New Republic from sending help, and having his troopers extract him from his transport to trial. So great to see Giancarlo Esposito back as Moff Gideon - and relishing it too! Poor Grogu has already experienced so much trauma, and now he has to watch his father get captured by Moff Gideon. I feel like we're going to see Din's face in the finale. I can just see Gideon taking his mask off just to be extra disrespectful. Besides, seeing Din's face in the season finale is a tradition now! RIP, Paz Viszla. You were kinda of an ass, but you went out like a hero.
  8. I immediately thought of the new secretary. I'm surprised neither Perry nor Della thought of that.
  9. That assistant DA Milligan's face is very punchable. Good episode. I missed it: did we see Pete get into the safe in Perry's office and find the gun?
  10. People are complaining about that? lol. I loved that Grogu got knighted. And I loved his friendly rapport with the Dutchess.
  11. Bo & Din on the hunt for rogue droids gave me Law and Order vibes - right down to standing behind the desk of a computer tech to review evidence. I forgot how hot Axe Woves is! Oh hey, Lizzo & Jack Black! The Dutchess cuddling Grogu was adorable. So, Din has not quite gotten over his bias against droids. Loved seeing Ugnaughts again! And I loved that we got a little of Kuiil's music theme when we saw them.
  12. I was wondering about this. It definitely looked like they weren't actually on Saint Marie (Guadeloupe)
  13. I liked season 2 more than season 1. Jean remains a good lead character: smart, relatable, and kind. So glad Barbara got caught. I didn't like her character at all - and not in the love-to-hate-the-villain way. I'm also glad that Gloria's new boyfriend turned out not to be a bad guy grifter who was conning her. They seemed to be hinting strongly that was the case, so I'm relieved that was a misdirect.
  14. Decent finale. Solid mystery and a cameo from the Saint Marie contingent (Humphrey has now met two of his successors - Neville and before that, Jack). Humphrey and Archie fighting was just so silly. The only thing I liked about it was Kelby telling them to break it up. I laughed when he said, "Don't make me take out my baton!" I guess it's fine that Martha and Humphrey reunited(?) I'm still not into their story, but I do hope that if this gets a second season, this is the last we see of Archie. He's just an annoying character, and I say that as someone who generally likes Jamie Bamber.
  15. Just came back from seeing this, and I enjoyed it much more than I'd expected. I've never played Dungeons & Dragons, so I have very little context for it, but the movie was a lot of fun. The whole gathering-a-team-for-a-mission thing is well trod by now, but I still liked watching it here. It helped that the team played off each other well. Chris Pine was delightfully silly and earnest. Michelle Rodriguez was sarcastic fun. And Justice Smith and Sophia Lillis rounded out the group nicely. Plus, Hugh Grant hamming it up is always a good time. I also loved the visual effects, especially for Doric's shapeshifting.
  16. Agreed! This is one of my favorite things about this season. Particularly in this episode, I loved that Greef Karga, after saying Nevarro didn't want to bow down to another far-off bureaucracy, was forced to ask the New Republic for help. That, plus Capt. Teva seeing the remants of the Empire gathering, has me really intrigued. I loved how Vane was like "Peace out" when it became clear Gorian Shard's pirates were losing to the Mandalorians 😅
  17. Bo getting to take off her helmet gave me hope that the Armorer will one day make wearing the helmet an individual choice. What a fun episode! The battle on Nevarro was great, and I just loved watching the Armorer go all John Wick on those pirates. Carson Teva is good people. He sees what's coming; I was so glad when he told Elia, "Your kind didn't see the light; you were captured." Also, when Din told him the covert would have to relocate, my response was "Thank God!" Continuing to love the glimpses we're getting about the New Republic and its failures. And Elia is totally working to undermine the New Republic on Moff Gideon's orders, right?
  18. I continue to be amazed by what the puppeteers of Grogu can do. They have helped to make him a fully realized character, with an inner life that's clearly conveyed with changes in facial and eye movements, coos, and hand movements. It's truly a marvel.
  19. Perhaps in the next season they'll use Catherine's position as mayor as a jumping off point for one of the mysteries. I remember the episode where a murder happened during her mayoral election was a good one.
  20. I'm starting to feel this way as well. If this gets a second season, I'd like to see Humphrey on his own, away from Martha and her mother. I find Archie deeply irritating. Solid mystery, although I did guess the culprit early on. And I guess Simon Harrison is destined to play assholes in perpetuity.
  21. I had the same thought when Grogu was watching the Armorer forge his latest armor piece. Like he was thinking "not ANOTHER rigid code!"
  22. Loved this episode! Grogu's flashback was heartbreaking. Kelleran was a real hero from getting him to safety (lovely to see Ahmed Best in the role) And I too want to know how Grogu went from safe on Kelleran's ship to all alone. Grogu's training scene: Din is always the proud dad. I laughed at Bo Katan saying "My dad was the same way." Armorer & Co need to find a new location for their covert. This one seems decidedly unsafe. Bo saying "This is the Way" feels kinda momentous, no? So now 3 baby dragons have been brought as foundlings to the covert. Their training should be fun 😝 I love love love this show!
  23. I'm not opposed to the inclusion of the characters' personal lives, but it's just been handled very badly on this show. DiP did a much better job with these types of stories. JP and Rosie's relationship is a good example. He met her on a case, and they started dating. But we only got glimpses and mentions of their relationship. The mysteries were still the main focus of the show. Martha's cafe, the IVF, the ex-fiance - I'm just not interested in any of it. I did enjoy the mystery in this latest episode. At least those seem to be improving.
  24. Pete saying "Clickety-clack, I know that look" was so delightful. Using Drake to take down that Melvin Perkins guy...not so much. Enjoying this season so far.
