  1. I LOVED this season! Hadn't realized how much I'd missed this show.

The fact that they started the season in Fort Worth was delightful.

Summer's foray into an MLM made me cackle - especially the drones with the products following her around.

Gloria aka Ho Spice (😆). I'm not surprised that Caroline had moved on to someone else. Seeing Gloria fake that discount Harry Styles' death was hilarious (the fox teeth 😆)

Also enjoyed seeing Wickie's "hardscrabble" backstory. The actors playing her parents (Adriane Lenox and Ron Canada) are two of my favorites.

Hilarious to see the girls play that fan's party in Florida (Summer scatting sent me!) Fun fact: the singer summer upstaged (Pixie) was played by singer Ingrid Michaelson.

And how could I forget Percy! He really fit in nicely with the girls.

Loved seeing G5A play Radio City, even if the venue was empty-lol

  2. 17x07, Cool Million - I liked this one! Loved seeing Violet be more involved in a case. And it was fun that she rode her horse in the race. Was also cool to see Julia back in the morgue, if only briefly.

Of course the culprit was a Carmichael!

I Googled to see if Joey Witherspoon was a real person, and it looks like the character might have been a composite of several African-American jockeys. This article highlights some famous black jockeys.

  3. OMG, I am LOVING this season.

Wickie: Did he just introduce me third?!?! *dun dun DUN*

    So funny.

I laughed out loud at Dawn's "Later" song.

So cool that the lesbians came out for Ho Spice (lol)

Loved the music cues every time that awful senator's wife appeared. I was actually hoping she was going to clobber him over the head and join the girls on stage.

  4. Summer joins an MLM. Because of course-lol

Very cool to meet Wicke's - erm, Lesley's - parents and see her backstory, which (shocker) was not hardscrabble! Wickie revealing how she mischaracterized her entire bio was hilarious ("I could do this all day")

I'm liking the songs this season, but did we ever get a full list of tracks for the album they recorded last season?

  5. Aaaaah! I was hoping this season would start in Fort Worth!

"I haven't gotten that kind of applause since I agreed to leave an airplane."

    Oh, Wickie, don't ever change.

Interesting to see that flashback to Summer and Wickie's conversation that lead to Wickie leaving the group back in the day. It's a bit of a retcon, but since it gives some additional spice to the group's backstory, I'll allow it-lol

I was here for Dawn wanting to do nothing because she was finally free of her mom obligations.

So glad to have this show back!

  6. 17x06, Dying to be Enlightened

I liked this episode a lot. I tend to like episodes where we see team-ups between characters who regularly don't interact - in this case, Julia, Effie, and Watts. And, of course, any episode that has lots of Watts makes me happy! I'm glad Watts is coming to some kind of peace about his sexuality and how much of himself he can safely share with the world. As always, I want Llewellyn Watts to be happy, dammit!

I liked Julia's skepticism of the wellness retreat. I know the leader (Serigalo?) wasn't exactly a total quack, but I still give guys like him side eye.

Like Effie, I am missing George.

  7. Absolutely delighted to see JP again! Such a great character. And I loved that he came back to help Marlon get a job.

I've liked Marlon since his introduction in season 10, so I will miss him. He's had a wonderful character arc.

Solid mystery in this episode, too. Whenever there's only 2 or 3 suspects, you can pretty much guess there will be some kind of twist. I enjoyed seeing Marlon get to lead a bit more on a case, too. I also liked the actor that played Booker.

Wonder who's going to be their new officer.

  8. Episode 11x05, "The Dead of Night"

Love an episode where Goodfellow gets to shine. He and Father Brown do make a good team.

That con artist vampire hunter reminded me of an episode of Last Week Tonight where John Oliver talked about so-called psychics who prey on grieving relatives. So gross.

  9. Episode 5 was good. I'm glad Judith got a bit more to do in this one. So heartbreaking to hear the story of her miscarriage. I kinda guessed the culprit early on, but still enjoyed watching the mystery unfold.

Charlie and Simone encouraging Gloria to join the dating app makes sense, but I'm glad Gloria decided she was fine on her own.

I hope we see Reme Benson again. She was delightful. I wonder if she'll cross paths with Gloria since they're now both on the same dating app!

  10. Episode 4:

A crypto episode! I guess it was inevitable-lol When they were standing in the crypto mining rig and Naomi kept asking “But what does all this stuff do?” I cackled. That’s my ongoing question about crypto, too.

The mystery in this one was good. I was kept guessing right up until the reveal of the culprit. And I liked that there was a bit more for Darlene to do in this one, with her tie to one of the suspects.

Glad they’re showing Neville slowly starting to put himself out there again, but not fully ready to trust. That said, I'm not sure if *I* trust that SunsetChaser person 😄

  11. I'm also loving the addition of Andrina, particularly how well she was integrated into the case in this episode. And I loved that Selwyn was there for her as she was still reeling from seeing someone die right in front of her.

The reason for the murder was devastating. I was sad for all those women.

I usually roll my eyes at long-lost relatives or friends of the our regular characters, but I became invested in Catherine's friendship with Lucky. Both actors did a good job of infusing the characters' history into the their conversations throughout this episode. I'd love to Catherine to keep in touch with Lucky. Hopefully, she and Dionne and Celeste will receive leniency from the court.

  12. The Word of the Condemned - Loved seeing Lady Felicia, and I loved seeing her teaming with Fr. Brown, Mrs. Devine and Brenda. I guessed midway through that the "sister" was the culprit, but this was still an enjoyable watch. I'm enjoying the season overall, though I wish we saw more of Fr. Brown in the church/solving church-related mysteries.

  13. 17x03 - Murdoch and the Mona Lisa - I liked this episode. Enjoyed seeing Murdoch and Brackenreid teaming up after mostly being apart in the first two episodes. I miss George and Effie, though. And I do wish Julia had more to do. Hoping she'll be more involved in the mystery solving as the season goes on.

So, does the end mean the real Mona Lisa ended up at casa Brackenreid permanently? What's hanging in the Louvre right now-lol

  14. 17x02 - Do the Right Thing, Part 2 - Hilda Fanshaw was evil, and threatening a child is beyond the pale. Still, I feel some type of way about Julia and Murdoch kidnapping her and bringing her to jail. I know they're Our Heroes, but I lost track of all the laws they broke when Fanshaw WASN'T threatening them.

Brackenreid and Margaret's plot was a bit hard to follow, but I enjoyed them working together. Margaret winding up to punch that woman was hilarious.

Great to see everyone back at Station House Four. I continue to adore and root for George and Effie.

I must've missed something - why was Alton there with a gun in the first place?

The Commissioner in the hospital gave me flashbacks to my gall bladder surgery. Yikes.

Alton said he was planning to use the gun to scare the Commissioner into listening to him.

  16. First episode of season 13 has dropped on BritBox.

Strong episode to start the new season and celebrate 100 episodes. The mystery was good, and it was great seeing the team back together. I'm mostly meh on Neville, but I really liked him in this episode, particularly his compassion for Alton. Poor Alton's suffering and turmoil really broke my heart.

Also enjoyed the "are we cool" scene between Naomi and Marlon. I like their partnership and friendship. I wonder if that scene means they're steering away from any romance between those two.

So delighted to see Camille. Sara Martins is still stunningly beautiful. We got a Ruby mention and a photo cameo of Florence! All in all a great start to the season.

  17. Interesting. I watched those movies before I watched the show. The movies are good, but I think of them as their own thing. They have a grittier, more sobering vibe. Fun fact: Peter Outerbridge, who plays Murdoch in the movies, guest stars in an episode of the show, season 8's "Shipwreck."

  18. New season's begun on Ovation in the US.

17x01 - Do the Right Thing, Part 1 - They could've titled this episode "ALL the Murders" - lol. Loved seeing Sorcha Cusack (previously of Father Brown) in this episode. Also liked seeing Margaret helping Brackenreid investigate the murder on the ship. I'm so used to bingeing episodes of this show that I'm mad I have to wait a week for the conclusion.

  19. Loved the first two episodes. The murder at the Olimpicks was a good mystery. I thought I'd guessed the culprit but that was a twist. Plus, I loved the random announcements over the PA ("We're out of Victoria sponge!")

I'm digging the pairing of Sullivan and Mrs. Devine.
