  1. Maybe I'm being unsympathetic, but the level of FOMO and angst from some young people about the proliferation of streaming services makes me shake my head. Folks need to realize that even with a full package of premium cable, they never had access to everything, and that there's no time for everything. Hell, I'm lazy-retired and have been catching up on a lot of TV but still have more than 200 shows on my wish lists between Amazon, Netflix and Hulu. I've also never paid for premium channels like HBO, so maybe I'm just used to missing out on a lot of the buzzy shows. This is mostly directed at Reddit's television forum, but: calm the hell down!
  2. With the show featuring three brokers per episode and me only liking two out of four, I'm guaranteed to be bored 25% of the time. I'm expecting to have my lips severely pursed with five brokers.. I wouldn't mind scenes of Luis and Ronita working, but the show really needs to cut back on the uncomfortable interview footage where his emotions are flayed raw. Also, his striped top is visually attacking me. It makes no financial sense for Ryan to waste his days being a rental broker for 200+ units, but he absolutely could delegate the work to some of his team members. Someone like Steve's former assistant would jump at it, especially compared to making zero money on commission.
  3. I think so, too. Keith and Iris have fallen with a thunk onto my "definitely break up" list. There's such a thing as too respectful, too quiet and too non-confrontational, and that's Keith. As immature as Iris can be, she's never going to grow or learn in their marriage when Keith always opts for passivity and silence. He doesn't care enough to challenge her.
  4. Aha! Thanks for the tip; I just disabled voicemail on my cell phone. Didn't realize that was possible!
  5. Okay. Everyone is subject to fears, doubts, and feelings of inadequacy at times, but the insecurities of this cast are out of control. I wonder if Dr. Cilona's "instruments" would have helped weed some of them out ... The wound of Amber's mother leaving has become a deep cavity of longing and despair. She doesn't believe she's worth loving. Jamie and Elizabeth seem not to have any intrinsic feelings of self worth; it all comes from external validation. If they don't feel like they're actively and constantly being indulged and complimented, they lash out. Iris lacks the confidence to even be an adult. She cocoons herself with persnickety rules as a way to have some control over a scary world. Deonna's fear completely shut her down after past emotional trauma. (It is nice to see her making progress lately.) Matt's a basic dumbass who's experiencing the loss of his career, the only thing that made him special in life. Greg and Keith actually have some maturity and self confidence ... so that's 25% of the cast. Good job, experts and producers!
  6. I think their kids are Mina, Kelsey, and the son who visited once with his family; Mina added the apartment over the garage for when they stay. ... although it would be very like her to welcome someone else's adult son into her home. However tangled the roots of their extended family tree, it's awesome how open and supportive they all are with each other. Mina never qualifies anyone as a half or step sibling. They're all just family. Edit: They made an attempt at a family tree in an bonus video.
  7. So, let's say Jamie had put his arm around her and whispered quietly, with affection in his voice, "Hon, let the man talk." I still think Elizabeth would have gone off. She's proud of "being herself" and "keeping it real" no matter whose feelings she steamrolls. No excuses, no apologies. I'm quirky!
  8. Is it wrong that I hope Greg and Deonna are going to become one of those couples who coordinate their outfits every day?
  9. Thanks for exposing your very soul, Iris. I stand with Keith in being extremely moved.
  10. Not enough moon water in the world to fix Elizabeth.
  11. It's been clear to everyone (even Amber, when she's being honest with herself) that he isn't into her and doesn't find her attractive. Yet last week he insisted to Pastor Cal that he was 100% committed, and continued to use Amber for sex at his convenience. He tells her sweet things on their one-month anniversary, refuses to leave the marriage, and then blames her for being affectionate and holding out hope.
  12. Mina mentioned at one point that Toby is her and Karen's nickname for him, but not why. Binging also highlights how many times Tad and his demo crew destroy or lose things that were supposed to be saved. From the resemblance, Tad and Jess (I think?) from this week's episode could be full siblings. Neither look at all like Mina's dad, but as @CrazyInAlabama said, we know they're not Karen's.
  13. It does seem like a size 9 foot shoved into a size 7 shoe. Lose the monologue and reduce to two panelists to give them time to, if not shine, at least speak more than a few sentences. I didn't imagine these words would ever come out of my mouth, but Rob Schneider was funny.
  14. Okay, HGTV. No need to pretend that Good Bones is two hours long in order to keep everyone's DVR running to include your new show. I would have checked it out anyway. I feel like I've been too hard on Karen and Mina lately; it's not like I started my own successful renovation business and star in a TV show. I'll just say the corbels were still too small in scale and leave it at that. It's a nice apartment and I'm glad Mina's sister is happy. Her baby and Jack look like twins!
  15. Pasting a long-ass link into a comment box with no description or explanation is pretty danged lazy. Don't put the onus on everyone else to find out what you're trying to say!
  16. I'm still hanging in and like the loosey goosey atmosphere. The prerecorded bits and Spade's cellphone videos usually get a chuckle out of me. But what I really like is that none of the jokes or panel commentary have been about politics! Such a relief, truly.
  17. Despite how much counseling Luis may have had in the last couple of years, he doesn't seem to realize that suits are not the problem. His mindset is the problem. Dressing professionally doesn't mean he's bowing to convention, resuming old habits, or failing to be his true self. He should still be able to be present, calm, patient, or whatever he wants while still wearing a nice worsted wool.
  18. I don't think any of us were surprised that it was bought by a young single guy who vibed with the muted tones and Luke's midcentury hipster esthetic. He probably eats on the couch anyway. Interesting that Luke used to be a musician. I looked up his band -- Esterlyn, a Christian worship group. Luke was lead vocals and guitar. While rummaging, I saw that Clint is also an attorney and CPA. The kids in both families are homeschooled, which seems perfect for field trips to their dads' jobsites!
  19. I was a little surprised the vinyl house sold so quickly as a 3/1.* The logistical problems relocating the kitchen were interesting to watch. It's crazy that previous owners had remodeled/added on, and that layout was the best they could come up with. But then, those were probably the same people who created that monstrosity of a fireplace. That was hall of fame ugly. Matte black is a really difficult paint color because it highlights every bump and flaw in the walls, which it did here. Clint's sons not only look like him, they have his voice, too. * It used to be the suburban norm and I grew up with four people and one bathroom, but now a 3/1 is thought of as a starter home. My last house was a 2/1 and the new owners still added another bath!
  20. I loved how the producer was, "Wait. What?!" when Luis casually mentioned his impending fatherhood. I wanted the camera to turn around and let us see that guy's face. Heh.
  21. My guess is that Iris doesn't have an intact hymen, either congenitally or broken in other non-sexual ways.
  22. Ronita's baby looks just like her! Both are beautiful. Steve Gold can pull off a casual business look, but Luis' presents more as a slacker now. At least ditch the earrings and nail polish. Everyone else remember that one of Derek's main objections to having kids with Fredrik was that he would be the one doing the majority of childcare because Fred works so much? Hmm. Passing out the flyers really exemplified why Ryan is a top broker. He was upbeat, comfortable, and trying to engage the passers-by. His team members OTOH were embarrassed, monotone and even sullen. It's also easy to see how Pam got where she is -- incisive, clear-eyed, and realistic. I get that, but also think Jordan needs to make his own decisions. That couple weren't motivated sellers in any sense, so it was always going to be a struggle.
  23. That was Amber singing the popsicle shtick Single Lady and Annie songs, right? Fun segment, if only for Seth's explanations and exasperation. Not a comedy writer, but as a viewer: "Huh. That's a lot of burning."
  24. The crux of Jamie and Elizabeth's toxicity is that each one wants the relationship to revolve around him- or herself. If there's any truth to the saying that in marriage, one person is the flower and the other a gardener, then two flowers means nobody is getting watered or fed. Jamie goes completely off the rails when Elizabeth doesn't flatter and puff him up, while it kind of doesn't occur to poor spoiled Elizabeth that feelings besides hers even exist. Her superficial rules like "bring me flowers every week" and "don't follow me into rooms" are indicative of her reductive and juvenile way of thinking. Jamie following and yelling at you is a symptom, Liz, not the disease.
