  1. We are down to hooting and laughing at the show. I still can't get over going to the coast for salt after the get the deer. How much did the gas cost - it was sooo stupid. I did enjoy watching the rough smoker building but it was questionable. I liked Thorn but now I'm beginning to wonder with his choice of loin cloth with a young daughter around at times. They have to blur some sections because he is not careful. It seems so forced this year with their story lines. Thinking of the farmers Market with them standing there. Ummmm.... nobody saw the camera or did the shoppers have to sign a release form so they could be filmed? I do like the work with the bees and making honey but it seemed like the information about dumpster bread turned the one guy off. Funniest scene was Thorne fliping his boat. The hunting skills are lacking for a guy living in the wild. But all in all Thorne is the most realistic. Colbert comes in second.
  2. I've never heard anything about cooking - does the camp provide food. Once Sue said her hunting is not shared with customers. Do they have a "Mess" there?
  3. I wasn't wild about him in the beginning but as the seasons go on it seems the family is true to their way of life. They are not totally isolated - on Facebook and though it is not mentioned on the show, I felt it was fine. He never comes off with the "I have to bring food home so my family won't starve." line. As much as Sue complains, Chip stays happy and busy.
  4. Just finished this episode and feel wiped out. Granted - some scenes seem to drag on and I'm not a fan of flashbacks but then I don't have a alternate method of slowly exposing the family's secrets. I do think the show is well written and since the plot zigzag you never know what will happen next. Danny is /was definitely evil and crazy - the plotting and his ability to tie the family up emotionally was the scariest part. Many psychopaths have this ability. I'm glad Danny is dead but sorry John did it.
  5. Funniest scene? Norman opening up the car door and Norma falling out! Least realistic scenes. Norman digging the grave site. He doesn't have enough muscles to do anything. And his carrying Norma up the stair - total insult.
  6. Ragnar still has it! Even with drugs he sensed the danger and possible attack path. Even after he described the plan the others did not have the imagination to visualize it. Withdrawal will be b*tch though.
  7. Torvi (Georgia Hirst) has this as her only acting credit. She definitely lucked out with a first role in such a popular series.
  8. So who did Romero kill? Was this at the end of last season?
  9. As they portray the Vikings, they really have not much over wolves. Other than they have learned language and basic food gathering and growing. I just don't see anything that is good as a Viking. They show no mercy, no morals, no order of law. One level above the wolf.
  10. When you watch the conflict with Ragnar suffering over Floki killing Athelstan, you can consider the underlining conflict within Ragnar himself which carries through the series. He has been drawn to Athelstan because of his goodness. He is seeking that but it confused him. He seeks the peace and faith Athelstan has but his violent nature in in conflict with that. Floki cut short Ragnar's friendship with Athelstan and his conscience seeking the of valuing human life.
  11. Attica mentioned Ragnar watching the others in this episode. That has been his strength throughout the series. So many times we have watched him behind the screen or behind the throne, or watching the people from his door. He knows and understands because he knows his people. He feels those who will betray him. His sweet wife is on his list. He feels her jealousy as he asked her if she "saw" something about Bjorn.
  12. Aslaug wants to rule and doesn't need Ragnar. Her reference to her father and grandfather betrayed what she really was after. I would guess Bjorn will be back in the Spring to challenge her if Ragnor doesn't make it.
  13. Never disappointed! Great start. Watched a couple of episodes before it started to remind me of what had happened. It really has been a long time.
  14. Atz Lee's cabin looks like Disco looking for some, any new plot/theme to run on. None of it makes sense. How is the family (within the "storyline") paying for anything that needs cash? Oh, yes - I know it is all make believe - but they do need better writing. Along their theme - Otto offering a cow as medical payment (oh - how we howled with laughter at that line) is that how Eivine and Eve pay for the baby delivery at the hospital? Oh, another cow? I think the worst of the show is Otto's interior of the house. My goodness - plywood walls after years and years living there? Well, at least Otto got a hair cut and brushed his teeth. Looks like they are in a race with the Alaska Bush Browns with their new teeth!
  15. Probably the major cause for complaints about the show's content is because Discovery treats us as stupid....well, I can see why when we had to watch the stupidity of the coverage of the snow storm in NY and DC and the people stripping the store shelves.
  16. I missed the part of the info that Martha is the mother lode. I noticed the house and almost fell over - thought Eric really had worked to have this built. Not his? I do remember he had a more "Alaskan" home a few years ago. I do understand how Martha didn't stop fishing - me too - the fish will certainly bite on the next cast. Agnes has been at this since she was a teen. Her skill after years of hunting. She should be more skilled than Martha but Martha will do better as the years go by. I do appreciate the Hailstones more than in the beginning. Question is on the eggs collected by both Martha and Hailstones. I didn't see any candling and I would guess some eggs had been fertile. If the birds had been sitting on them and then scared off the nests, the baby would die inside if not heated. Would they then rot? Hailstones seemed to store some. Would this not be a nasty surprise when you cracked the shell?
  17. Last week I stopped watching 'cause it looked like just a rehash of older programs and a grab for more commercial money. Did watch last night and we did laugh. Do they want us to believe that Eve would be having contractions and keep working collecting grain? Thank you mother-in-law with no sympathy (if it were even true she was having contractions). Good acting, Eve! No one can prove you weren't having contractions - no more than having proof of a headache. And now Atz Lee. Yuck - please no more sickly white skinny legs. Oh, all those operations.... did not see one scar - didn't he have four operations? I though he said he broke 20 or 22 ribs...there are 24 ribs total. Now if he did break a lot of ribs, he would almost would have broken a collar bone. And with that many ribs broken, he would have barely been able to talk or breath without pain. Ummm.. Now let's go fishing - spending 10 gallons of gas to catch some halibut and they stop at two? And can you imagine sitting there listening to Jane for 6 hours (if they really were out there more than 2 hours getting the film footage) and not being able to walk away?
  18. I was thinking about that in the last segment. Does she have a dining hall? We hear of no cooks, etc to run these hunters through. Cleaning, laundry of sheets, etc. Sue did say once that none of the food she hunts can be used for the people coming through. And how do people find out about the lodging there? Hunting guides advertising it? Sue seems to be hunting bear and more but no hunters around. I would think she has to abide by hunting regs and seasons. I think there would be hunters all around coming in the the day's hunt, getting ready to go out. Hunting is just not in the summer, yes?
  19. I agree, Beden with your comment of age catching up to Sue. It sure has caught me - just sneaks up. Watching people running up three flights of stairs with a bag of groceries - no away anymore. But that is why God gave us a brain. Know your limits and plan accordingly. Sue should have had a "helper" in training all along. The fact that she doesn't have a small plane herself and fly in and out is another mystery. Even the fact that she has flooding problems each spring would have been easy to correct with banking the ground. We couldn't believe the wiring setup shown in the show. That place should have been shut down as a fire hazard.
  20. The one I really don't like is Sue. She never laughs and always seems to be complaining. She has said she doesn't get along with people and likes being alone. So be it. That site obviously needs two people to run it OR be better organized. The result of Sue's injury in losing all her frozen foods was inexcusable. Someone should have been sent up (easily done) to start the generators at least and that would have saved the food stores. I guess I should admit that my view of her has never been high. Yes, she can figure out some of the machine breakdowns, likes to work hard but the complaining is not worth watching. Glenn did say in the first or second season that he goes to Fairbanks for the summers to visit his child(ren). One reason he gave at that time was it was too difficult to survive off the land because he could not store foods with the warm weather. Huh? When he "explained" that he prefers dried wood because green wood doesn't throw as much heat due to it uses a lot of the heat to dry it out was laughable. We go with our wood stove all winter in Wisconsin and everything is cut the year before (all dead trees) and set aside to dry out. Glenn should have had huge cords of wood set up for the coming year. He should have also had small stashes of firewood set up along the trail of where he travels.
  21. RemoteControll - looks like the court cases went on for more pages. Tried to work the website but can't get to the list of Atz and Atz Lee court records.
  22. O.K. - all good points about the faking of ramp, needing to hunt for winter, etc. I haven't seen it mentioned yet but when in Heavens, does any family takes a patient out of bed with his tubes, load him on some sort of gurney and wheel him by themselves out the door with no hospital people around. He could not even stand. I do believe Atz Lee was seriously hurt but this scene was weird. You never saw a hospital corridor or personnel. The room almost looked fake - did they build a staged room? They all acted like no one but Jane went to see him in the hospital. Another thing that really bugs me this time is Jane, all by herself, setting up a bed in the living room, cutting down a tree for firewood, loading it in the little sled to warm up the house. Where are all the relatives. There are six sisters who live on that acreage. Are they telling us that NO ONE was helping out? This was so totally faked. Press release was August 12 for accident and on her FB Jane said they moved Atz Lee home August 24th. That is less than 2 weeks. When did they have time to even have 4 surgeries?
  23. Strictly speaking on the Vic personality, I've noticed one major trait that gets under my skin. She is one nosy bit**. If you notice, as soon as Walt comes roaring through the sheriff's office, she demands to know what's going on, or who was on the phone, where he's going, etc. I wish Walt just say, "Vic, do your job!" I have never been able to like her. And to Vic, I say "Get a shirt that fits!" We know you have boobs. If you want to be treated as an equal with the other deputies, at least stop swinging your hips like a past prime runway model.
  24. Enjoyed the doggie show but is the store chain only for dogs? That would be surprising and I would think it would be one of the first things to change. I'm not a cat lover but I would expect a few food items available. Watching the wife's attitude about brands and her closed way of considering products was a shocker. Even not liking the design on a package was surprising. And, sadly, so judgmental. This show should be played to high schoolers to show them how a closed mind can drag you down. It is not a good character quality.
